**SOME SPOILERS**

Whew! KB came out the gate swingin’ with this one. Not Finished Loving You was full of raw emotion. When her fiancé drops a bomb and informs her he doesn’t want to have kids, Alexis immediately calls off their engagement and moves out of state. Fast forward seven years later, she’s happily married with a three year old daughter and three months pregnant with a son. All is right in Alexis’ world until it isn’t. When her husband is tragically killed in a hit a run, she packs up and moves back to South Carolina to be near her parents. While taking some much needed me time, Alexis runs into Jaceon at the mall and, just like that, it’s as if the last seven years never happened. Sis is in a battle of wills with herself. A year later, Alexis is still grieving the death of her husband but, she realizes she’s still in love with the man who broke her heart. Jaceon is dealing with his own emotional turmoil. He’s five months post-divorce and still angry with his ex-wife. Finding out she not only cheated but, got pregnant by another man and tried to pass the baby off as his sent him spiraling and running to the nearest divorce attorney. Considering the heartbreak he caused Alexis, he feels like this was his karma. Alexis and Jaceon have both endured trials and tribulations. They’re both healing but, are still very much in love with one another. Will these two be able to let go of their painful past so they can have the future they so desperately want? This story was beautifully written. It was so emotional and heartfelt. Not Finished Loving You is a slow burn second chance romance that is going to test your patience. This book takes Alexis and Jaceon on a slow journey back to each other so, grab your snacks and buckle up because it’s going to be a long ride.

So I originally DNF’d this book at 40% and it wasn’t because it wasn’t a good story, it was just a burning one. Well I’m a HUGE KB fan so I always knew I would revisit the book if for nothing else so that I could stay on task of completing her entire catalog.

Welp the release of the audiobook gave me the push I needed to recommit to finishing this book. I said all that to say whew 😅 the struggle was real😩.

This book was the prime example of life not being black and white but also not allowing the next man to keep your from what you want for yourself and your future.

Alexis and Jaceon were college lovers and prior to the kid conversation saw forever with each other. Once children were on the table they were at a brick wall not willing to compromise on either side when it came to what they did or did not want. This led to a painful heartbreaking end.

Well years later life was doing what it does by lifing and tragedy in Alexis’ life led to her return home as a widow with two small children. As she grieved her loss with her support system close by, she never thought that seeing Jace again would bring back old feeling.

This was a palette cleanser story. There were no memorable nor groundbreaking moments that took the story to earth shattering heights and was a bit on the milder side when you consider other stories KB usually delivers. Even the sex was mild 🥴 If you’re looking for a toxic, angst free vanilla love story then this is for you. If you crave all things toxic and unhinged like me… pass 🙃

2nd Chance Love

This was a sweet, second chance love story. Very...wholesome. Jaceon and Alexis were college sweethearts and were engaged until Jay threw a huge wrench in their plans. Lex realized they were not on the same page and she refused to give up the life she desires. Seven years later life and unfortunate situations bring them back together again and Jay refuses to fumble the woman he has always loved again.

You know in every story there is always conflict of some sort and in this one it was just so....mild. I mean could Shannon have gotten dragged?? Or some plot twist that the reader didn't expect? This story was predictable. Jay didn't have any BDE, to me there was no real pressure applied. Maine, his brother was a much more interesting character.

I loved their families and how they embraced and loved on each other. The kids, sassy Indira and baby Carter, were the highlights of the story and watching them love Jay was sweet. Overall, It was a cute read, but it lacked spice.

Alexis x Jaceon

I liked this story, I didn't love it. This was a second chance love story between a widow and her college sweetheart; Alexis and Jaceon.
Jaceon fumbled the bag…big time. But now that his sweetheart is back in town, he plans on getting her back. Even though the love was there on both ends, it was no easy feat. Alexis was still grieving her husband while navigating motherhood as a single parent. Letting Jaceon, a man who didn't want kids then, but now has a change of heart, into her and her children's lives is hard.
But they worked really hard to get to their HEA.
Although this story didn't necessarily wow me, it was still a cute and sweet read, and KB remains very high on my top fave list.

Alexis and Jaceon were college sweethearts. Jaceon makes a shocking confession. Fastward Alexis is happily married with kids while Jaceon is dealing with his karma of letting Alexis go. Tragedy strikes and Alexis is forced to move back home. Of course she runs into Jaceon and “old” feelings arise. I loved his family still considering her family still after all the years apart. I loved this second chance romance. However I didn’t like we don’t know who killed the husband. Not one ring camera saw it 😒. No investigation. It was like why put him in the book just to dismiss him even though Alexis was still grieving him. He felt more like a nonfactor. It was nice Alexis and Jaceon finally got their happily ever after and their family 🥰.

I tend to not read second chance romances because I wouldn’t spin the block but this one was cute and the love! Omni could feel the real love and the Gary story was so sad. I’m happy they found love again though. Dirry was definitely that girl to me. She could adapt and she loved hard even though she was a kid.

SECOND TIME AROUND

This was a beautiful story. I really enjoyed it. Alexis and Jaceon, best friends and college sweethearts. They were young and didn't fully communicate what they each wanted moving forward, which cause a heartbreak in their relationship. Fastword years later, and they reunite, and a new journey begins for these two. Although they have been through things in life, their live for each other never completely ended. I loved Jaceon's growth and even his apology to his ex for his part in their declining marriage. This book was filled with the love of family, getting second chances and making new memories.

whew

Jaceon and Alexis went through so much after their relationship ending. I truly believe that both parties were at fault when it came to their relationship ending previously. While Jaceon did receive the brunt of his revelations being made Alexis was quick to give up and didn’t realize that Jaceon had some growing up to do. I enjoyed reading their path back to each other. This was one of my favorite reads so far this month.

Jaceon & Alexis

Kimberly Brown will always have in your emotions with her books 🤣🥴😫.

I will say yes Jacob was wrong for making that final decision at that moment of time. But Alexis was wrong as well because she just up and left without really talking. I feel like throughout the book everyone kept throwing it in his face yes he had a major part but if they truly loved each other they didn’t know what would have happened in the future communication was very much lacking from the start. Questions like that should have been done once you got engaged and really before in my eyes. This to me I felt Alexis played with Jaceon a little, she calls him over they have the conversation and then BAM she is angry 🤦🏾‍♀️. To me you can’t take your anger out on him like that.

Now I will say I am glad when Alexis let her guard down and she had that conversation with her sisters and co-workers. Her and Jaecon weren’t defiantly meant to be even though I didn’t like how they were doing my boy 🤣. Jaceon really did grow as a man and sometimes it takes being pulled apart for you to really understand the decisions you make can sometimes bite you but if you are able to get that second chance you better grab it and do what you have to do to make it last.

Again this was another great story from Mrs. Brown. Thank you for providing us with this amazing story about Second Chance at love.

Thoughts while reading:

Gary is giving “that’s a good man Savannah”

Damn not Gary already…

Aw so he did get his son.

Damn, my chest hurt.

How Jaceon know Alexis…. Did Gary steal ur girl? lol

Awww his brother and her wife are so cute (Tremaine and Stella).

Shannon 😳😳😳

Stilll in loveeeee 🎶 😂

I mean Lexi had to stand on business with the kids situation otherwise she would have just resented him if she would have went along with it.

Not the kids lit at the teen party (not lit that way).

Aw snap the liquid courage got him..

😂😂😂 Tremaine

Cackling at her thinking “inappropriately” about Jace - “ stop it bihh” 😂😂😂😂

I love Garyyyyyy 😭😭😭

Not Ms Ruby letting out the secrets.

Shannon went in.. I mean her feelings sound valid. Not valid enough to cheat, have a baby by another man, and expect your husband to stay with h you and raise said baby.

Stella a real one.

😂😂😂 Mello said you fumbled the bag my guy.

Jace said fukk Shannon disrespectfully..

You right about disrespectfully because Shannon a bit of a bihh.

Cresha a real one.

I feel very happy they reconnected. I loved Gary, but I also love Jaceon for Lexi!

This babies love Jace already 😭🥰

good story but didn’t really feel the love

I liked this book but for me I didn’t feel the love. I just read it. I thought it was definitely realistic and talked a lot about grief and regret. A lot of flashbacks. But we kind of just kept going in circles about Jaceon not wanting kids. Although Jaceon was good with her kids, he never came out and was like I want you and your kids. It was kind of like I have to accept your kids because I want you. But he definitely stepped up. He also kept saying he didn’t want to overstep but I felt like he did. He never wanted to be just her friend.

Yeah This Is Awesome!

This was a fantastic second chance romance from beginning to end. The story fires on every cylinder, you are going to get a little bit of everything. The chemistry is so good that you feel all the emotions. The dialogue is well developed, we are getting grown up conversations and relationships. If you are looking for a good story,a sweet and sexy romance and some fun in between than this is for you.

Now this is how you spin the block

This is a great spinning the block with an HEA story. I loved that Jaceon kept his love for Lex while adding the bonus love of the children she had with another man. He allowed that next love to be cherished by the kids and her. Alex was blessed to be reminded that her second love was the icing on the cake—a great story.

It was a struggle, but I made it to the end

The first 67% of the book went in a circle. The punchline is that Jaceon was considered a bad fiancé for being honest about his feelings. He didn’t cheat. He didn’t treat his fiancé wrong. He was a great man. However, his fiancé left him and was mad at him for over seven years because he was honest about something that every person should be honest about before entering marriage. I spent the entire book wondering what he did that was so wrong. His family told him he messed the relationship up. She told him he couldn’t be trusted. So he kept apologizing, and practically begging this woman to forgive him for being honest, while she gave mixed signals.

I felt like the story was drawn out way too long and it sent a message that it is better to lie or compromise in a relationship, than to be honest about your feelings. I rarely leave reviews, but this was a difficult book to get through.

It was okay

It has some tearjerking moments for sure!!

I’ve enjoyed a few of this authors books but this one was just okay for me and mostly because of Jaceon. As much as I wanted to like him it just never really got there for me. He was always acknowledging that he was overstepping early on and did it anyway. That first day he took Alexis out on the anniversary of Gary’s passing I feel like he was never genuinely trying to be a friend to her, it was always with the intention of laying the ground work of getting her back and it felt wrong to me because it felt like he was playing on her vulnerabilities. It was always about him, his feelings, and feeling almost entitled to another chance “Lex I need ,Lex I want” all while saying he understands, and he’s undeserving, no pressure but there was always pressure.

It was strange to me that anytime anyone asked him if he was ready to take on Alexis kids it was never really like of course I wanna get to know them and bond with them, step up for them. His response was always well I love her, want her, gotta get her back, can’t lose her again so I have to take the kids. Weird .

Like even before Lex decided to try with him he went right into calling her Baby at every interaction in every sentence, then kinda guilt tripping her when she was hesitant about them having that first date with her kids saying she doesn’t want him around them when he’d already been around them several times, played hide and seek with Indira and everything so for him to even let that come outta his mouth was insane. Then it was “i like coming home to you but no pressure and went straight into i should buy a crib and bed for the kids in the next sentence but again no pressure.

Acknowledging Gary’s death is the reason they got a second chance never really hit the mark for me either bc it always felt like i know you loved him and lost him but this our chance so it’s kinda a good things he gone bc we wouldn’t have it otherwise. That’s what it felt like..to me. The way Gary was acknowledge in the epilogue was good but it was already too late for Jaceon’s character for me.

The grace storyline also felt unnecessary if it wasn’t really going to be worked through. I understand wanting to give insight to the work Alexis did but picking one of the most traumatic scenarios and basically skimming over it was a disservice. Just about anyone other scenario could have served this same purpose if there was going to be so little about it.

Overall it’s not a bad read, I’ve just enjoyed other stories from this author more than I enjoyed this one.

Home is where the love is....

This book was perfectly titled because Jaceon and Alexis were not finished. They both were holding a torch for each other. Jaceon was a lot more obvious than Alexis with his burning fire. He realized the error of his ways the moment Alexis left the state. His ex-wife just made it easier for him to slide back to home plate. Sometimes as women, you have to know when to keep a man in the friend zone. For his ex-wife, she should have gone with her gut and stayed friends. Alexis deserved to be with the love of her life so the ex was obsolete anyway. My heart broke for Alexis when she lost Gary. She had love for him especially since he had given her kids. However, Alexis was still in love with Jaceon. Gary's death brought her home to where the love was. She and Jaceon finally got their second chance and happily ever after. Jaceon didn't leave Gary out of their story which was admirable. Everyone was happy the kids, Alexis, their families, and Jaceon. I loved how Tremaine and Stella gravitated towards the kids. The kids clung to them too as if they knew them already. The scene when Carter popped Tremaine in the nose was too cute. And Dirry her little personality at four was engaging. Now I did think Stella was going to fold and give Tremaine another baby. I would have loved to read Tremaine in the infant stage father role. He took his role as a father seriously with the three kids he already had. And he kept a crib and toys from his kid's younger years. The happily ever after hit hard in this read. It was quite a few emotional moments. So, ladies and gents, you all know what to do, download or purchase and indulge. Mrs. Brown has a bullseye she always hits.

Not Finished Loving You by Kimberly Brown is another fantastic story from this brilliant romance writer. I have been running through her catalog and I've enjoyed every novel more than the last. It took me a while to pick up Not Finished Loving You but I am so happy that I did, I finished the book so quickly because I just could not put it down! This second chance romance follows college sweethearts turned enemies, Alexis and Jaceon had an unconventional love story and I appreciate the care with which Brown discussed Alexis's grief and the respect for her journey that Jaceon had. Many times you read romance novels and you might feel that you forget what the book is all about shortly after you finish. But these books are actually about teaching you compassion for scenarios you may or may not encounter. Authors like Brown do so much good with their writing. I cannot make Not Finished Loving You a 5-star read for one major reason: the ages of the characters. I think the story would've been more well-rounded and relatable, if the characters were even 5 to 7 years older. While it is a personal preference, I find that romance novels, like this one that have really heavy subjects like divorce, adultery, and death, are better. That said, I'm glad that the ages of the characters didn't deter me from picking up the novel. The story is engaging with lovable and diverse characters. I highly recommend Not Finished Loving You.

Spice: 🥵🥵

Final Rating: 4.5 stars

Not Finished Loving You is a slow-burn, second-chance romance that I truly enjoyed. Alexis and Jaceon’s story had its VERY cheesy moments, but the banter between them and other characters made me laugh, which balanced it out.

Imagine finding love again after heartbreak, only to have your husband tragically killed while you’re three months pregnant—with a toddler to care for. Forced to move back home for support, you suddenly find yourself in close proximity to your college sweetheart—the one you were once engaged to but broke things off with after learning he didn’t want kids. How do you even get engaged to someone without knowing where they stand on such an important topic? Tough conversations in relationships are a must!

Especially in today’s world, topics like kids, religion, women’s reproductive rights, political affiliation, and LGBTQ+ rights should be discussed early on. ASK THE TOUGH QUESTIONS so you truly understand who you're dealing with.

As an adult with a fully developed frontal lobe, I am firmly on Team Leave High School and College Sweethearts in the Past—but sometimes, the stars just align. Being around someone you share deep romantic history with can be dangerous for the heart. Lex put up a good fight, and I respect her for that. If it were me, I would’ve taken things even slower—especially with two kids in the mix. Meanwhile, Jay was fighting for his life to win her back. Persistence and patience are always key!

One thing I really appreciated was the open communication within the families. It was refreshing—but wow, they tell everything!

This was my third Kimberly Brown read, and I continue to enjoy her writing style. I’ll definitely be reading more from her catalog!
