"Tasmina Perry left a career in law for the more glamorous world of women’s magazine journalism.
She has written on celebrity and style for many national magazines including Marie−Claire‚ Glamour and Heat and was most recently Deputy Editor of InStyle magazine. She has also found time to launch her own travel and fashion magazine Jaunt. All of her four novels have been Sunday Times best-sellers and her books have been published in seventeen countries.
Yonks since read a Tasmina Perry book and I used to read them all so knew what was getting when saw this patiently waiting on my TBR list title from last year
Extravagant characters and locations, romance and a heady mix of grandeur, labels, top hotels and a ‘whodid’ it all lovingly mixed with great food and unbelievable plot lines, in this case no one cared re the unbelievable, it’s all part of it
It was interesting that quite a lot of the book had nothing to do with the main story but with other characters linked to the main event and how they had ended up in Paris, that was fine
One irritant was the constant use of pigeon French in the dialogue which kinda made it harder to understand than maybe normal French but it was there, and all the way through
As say it was exactly as expected and enjoyable even at its silliest 🤗
This book is ruined by lack of editing/proof reading. I have never seen so many mistakes in a book. It is really annoying as it is a good plot etc. but laziness on behalf of publishers/author spoils it.
I did really enjoy this and it hooked me from the start, a pair of newlyweds going to Paris and only an hour into their honeymoon the husband goes missing!
The story was good albeit a bit random as well but a good easy read and finished it in the sunshine ☀️☀️
After their perfect wedding, Zoe and her husband Mike take the train into Paris for their honeymoon. The suite is magnificent at their luxury hotel. Mike tells her there are dinner reservations and he will be right back as he has an errand to run. When dinner time arrives, he is no where to be found. He has disappeared! They did have a whirlwind romance, he wouldn’t have gotten cold feet and just left her, would he? She really doesn’t even know where to start as she realizes she doesn’t actually know much about him. As the hours pass, and none of the staff or concierge has seen him, she grows very concerned.
Zoe ends up calling Lucas, her ex. He knows the darker side of the city and is great at tracking down a story and pictures. He was once the best paparazzo, but left the job after an unfortunate tragedy. He reaches out to his past employer and she decides to help because it does sound like a sensational story. Will they figure out what has happened to Mike?
This was a great romantic suspense! Twists and turns until the very end!
Having read a lot of Tasmina earlier books and loving them, I was keen to read this one, as it was one of her newer books published in 2023.
So overall the story was pretty good, well written as with all of her books. I enjoyed the beginning and middle parts of the story, but come the ending, I found that my attention was getting easily distracted by other stuff, I just wasn’t captivated enough by the story. I thought it was slow paced in places, and also there was a lot of other characters back stories going on, which is fine but it did detract from the main story, I.e Mike being missing and what had happened to him. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters and liked that they had their own individual stories but I wasn’t expecting those characters stories to take over from the main story of Mike being missing.
It was a good story, just wish I had been able to enjoy it more than what I did.
It is a captivating mystery novel that keeps readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page. Author weaves a tale of suspense and intrigue that will leave readers guessing until the final revelation.
Set in the capital of romance, the story follows the bridw as she unravels the mysterious disappearance of her husband on tveir wedsing night. As she delves deeper into the investigation, she uncovers long-buried secrets and hidden truths that threaten to upend the peaceful facade of her future.
The skillful storytelling keeps readers hooked from start to finish, with unexpected twists and turns that keep the suspense building throughout. Just when you think you've figured it out, another layer of mystery is revealed, leaving you eager to uncover the truth and what the heart really desire.
As usual Tasmina Perry doesnt disappoint with her glamorous locations and characters and a fast paced storyline The book starts with Zoe and Mikes whirlwind romance and wedding, all covered in the first few pages of the book. They end up checking in to one of Paris most luxurious hotels and Mike goes out for minute while Zoe has a bath and doesn't come back. The rest of the book involves some entertaining characters, Olga who resides in the hotel, Lucas, Zoe's ex who used to be paparazzi and Mimi, his old Boss. Its an entertaining read, I've read lots of Tasmina Perry books and this is as good as the rest of them.
I really loved this! I was intrigued immediately by the premise - Zoe's husband disappears on the first night of their honeymoon, why on earth could that be?!
The plot was really engaging, and the setting was brilliant, the descriptions of Paris were lovely. What really brought this book to life though were the characters - I especially loved Olga and I really enjoyed reading her story.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and would definitely recommend it. The only thing that spoiled it for me slightly is that the ebook has so many typos, it was difficult to read at times.
I really liked this. It reminded me of the original style of books from TP, but there was also a hint of the newer books due to the journalist background of Luc. I must admit I prefer the older style of books. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of glamour, intrigue and romance in the mix. Too many psychological thrillers out there now. I enjoy them, but I long for a change and found it in this book. I hope TP writes some more like this, but much as I liked the characters I like new ones as it keeps the story fresh; like meeting new friends.
This was a great read. Zoe's husband disappears from their 5 star Paris hotel on their wedding night, less than an hour after arriving in the French capital. She knows something is wrong and fights to be taken seriously. Enlisting the help of ex boyfriend and former paparazzi, Lucas, a whole different world unravels. New friend. elderly Parisian Olga is a huge help and comfort to Zoe and she feels very supported when best friend Kate and her husband Rick come to help. But can everyone be trusted?
I loved this book from the first page to the last - Zoe has just married her husband after knowing him just a couple of months. They take the train to Paris for a their honeymoon but shortly after arrival, her husband disappears. She calls on her ex boyfriend to help her find out what happened and there the story really gets interesting. As they pursue leads all across the city, you are taken on a ride you won’t forget! Twists and turns abound until the surprising conclusion.
I loved this book - the first of Tasmina's that I've read - and I'll definitely be reading more. Zoe marries Mike Green on a Friday and is starting her honeymoon in Paris that evening when Mike pops out and doesn't come back! Zoe calls her old boyfriend Lucas for help, and along with some other friends and some associates of Lucas, tries to find out what happened to Mike; after the police are not much help at all.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading this book. It read like a police mystery that I might watch on TV. There were plenty of surprises and twists and turns. I read it quickly as it had short chapters and I kept wanting to know what happened next. My rating of 4 is a bit questionable but it was definitely worth more than 3.
I loved this book and I read it in one day. I've never been to Paris but I could imagine it quite vividly. The story was full of twists and turns and I loved all the characters. My only slight gripe was that I thought the final confrontation could have been a bit longer but c'est la vie!
An enjoyable mystery suspense story that rapidly becomes a murder investigation, threatening to ruin an unsuspecting bride. Zoe has rushed into marriage and it all falls apart on her honeymoon in Paris. The different threads eventually merge together, although there are some unanswered questions as well.
At first I expected it to go the same way as a B A Paris book I had previously read but then it went in another direction and introduced more characters which made the book more readable in my opinion.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down! What an excellent story! I didn’t skip over and pages and was throughly delighted throughout the full story!
I lived in Paris for 4 years. It really captures the city and the people. The mystery of the disappearance of a bridegroom on his honeymoon is complex and riveting. I loved it.
I absolutely loved this book, it’s the best I have read in ages. I didn’t realise it was a mystery book, it’s so well written. I loved the story between Lucas and Zoe and how they were there for each other. I also recognised the names of places I’d visited in France which made it more real for me.
Picked it up due to it being on Kindle Unlimited. Really enjoyed the twisty plot. Lots of different characters - how do they overlap and intertwine? Other than one plot twist I really didn’t care for, I finished this novel in two sittings. Just wanted to know how the story wrapped up!
I liked this book and thought the premise (newlywed man disappears on the first day of his Parisian honeymoon) was super interesting. Lots of different threads to pull at, though I did feel it went on a bit too long.
Second chances, marriage to the wrong person and the joy and pain of finding new friends and losing old ones. Realizing that your life can turn on a dime and that fate may have things in store you never considered.
Once you start this book you will not put it down. From start to finish it’s intriguing and every chapter is as good as the previous. I read it on holidays. It took me 3 days while sunbathing.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more of her work I shall definitely be recommending this author to my friends and members of my book club
A cosy and romantic novel set in Paris. A fast-paced , page turner. Zoe Green is a newly married bride. The couple honeymoon in Paris, but then her husband dissappears. Worried, Zoe contacts her friends and the police to find her husband.
A good mystery read of a new bride in Paris and her husband who has vanished. New connections, old loves, and a good mystery all rolled into one. Editing not the best, but if you can overlook this, a good read.
Surprisingly entertaining. So much more than a simple mystery. You will enjoy this. Great character development. Leaves you with a sense of time well spent.
