Real Life Math Adventures!
This book has interesting, intentional lessons for any 3rd grade student. The voice in this book speaks to the students, engages them, and provides goals and rewards. We are introduced to the main character's friends and family who will grow with your student. The math skills taught are built around everyday issues that these characters encounter, issues that your student would also be familiar with. This adventure supports your students with examples through storytelling, reading, and problem-solving. I can easily see using this in one-on-one tutoring and/or home-schooling. Reading along through the stories and problem-solving together as a teacher/student or peer-to-peer through the missions keeps all engaged and wanting to learn more. Progressing to the next mission is a reward in itself. The lessons are based on third-grade math standards and can be used as a stand-alone math curriculum or in combination with other resources. Can't wait to use 3rd Grade Math Adventures with all my students. It has made my job so much easier in the homeschool situation this year. We have loved reading, working, and traveling through the adventures together.

This book put a smile on my face and allowed me to breathe a sigh of relief. All I kept thinking as I read the book was how much my nieces and nephews would love this book. Math is usually not a popular topic in school. It usually attracts the analytical, problem-solving children, but for those with the creative spark, it's usually not their go-to. This book changes that philosophy.

I loved the puzzles, activities, and badges this book had. Children perform better when the puzzles are enjoyable and they are motivated by rewards. The illustrations were beautifully executed, and my nephews were immediately drawn to them. I believe it is worth it to do all the activities and puzzles with children to get them more enthusiastic about math. I was shining with joy to see them filled with laughter and excitement. Quickly, I can think of at least two puzzles that children will love so much that they'll want to keep doing them repeatedly.

There was nothing to dislike about the book. It was well-edited and written. The illustrations were fun, engaging, and playful that will instantly attract children to the book. I hope a series is in the works because my nephew kept asking non-stop for more.

Kid Friendly & Creative

Full of mystery and adventure, the 3rd Grade Math Adventures book involves children in fun problems to be solved and mysteries to untangle, so learning comes about in a most natural way. Each new chapter introduces math functions critical to learning at the 3rd grade level. Other math-related concepts are included bringing real daily life into the math world; time keeping, counting money, ect. This applied learning method really draws children’s interest.

For each chapter, the concept is introduced in story fashion. Readers are invited to be helpers in solving the lead character’s challenge. These characters each have their own personality and background making the build up to the problem even more interesting. Fun rewards for correct work are the prizes and funny consequences, like walking upside down, come into play for mistakes. Key Points and Practice Tests reinforce learning. This book would be great to use while enjoying time with your child or to challenge them in their own quiet time.

A really fun and creative approach to encourage learning.

In retrospect, I should have ordered the paperback version of this book. It’s a little hard to read the Kindle version for some of the problems that the book had, but it’s still readable in some ways. Besides that, if I were to have a kid, I would recommend this book wholeheartedly. It’s chock-full of problems in the various subsets that current math has available today. What the book has in each section are age-appropriate problems that I am sure will challenge a third-grader in using math for the first time, or for expanding the knowledge at an early age. For the most part, I liked the illustrations, and the ending of the book has cute little badges for your kid should you decide to reward him or her. At least that was my impression when reading the book. So I would recommend checking this book out and giving your kid some extra math for him or her to use.
