another great installment

I am both grateful that there’s more story to tell and again, sad that this wasn’t the end. Probably because I was under the impression each time I read that this will be the end because it doesn’t say there’s another one until after I’ve finished - but I digress.

Billie really pissed me off in part one with the whole solo Enzo motorcycle ride while they were in a precarious situation. She pissed me off in part two when she was acting like an ostrich and putting her head in the sand about the new alpha duties. I understood both reactions, but she’s been so great and on the right side in all the other books- that it was frustrating for her to be so annoying in this one.

I’m dying to know what is going to happen with Enzo and Sandro cause I keep expecting them to join the harem and they don’t - so why continue that tension needlessly.

I love the banter, I love the story and the characters. I am eager to see what comes next. Honestly, so much happened in this book and also kinda nothing at all. I really don’t know how much longer the story will go on for.

I hate that Jax was assaulted but I’m glad to see how they overcame it. All in all, a great read.

The Story

I like this story, and that's why I've kept with these books. Billie's personality is charming, and her emotions are infective. Simmons matches her personality and behavior to what I think a fox's would be, and I love that aspect of these books. What annoys me, but I've managed to overlook is the editing. We don't reign it in. We rein it in. Pass for past. Little things like that drive me nuts. Also, the formatting isn't great. The POV shifts just happen. They aren't separated out into chapters like they should be, and sometimes I had to go back like what? Oh. And I wanna talk about these boys for a minute. Xander is ridiculous. Where are his big, strong alpha words? Rachel... back off. I'm not interested. Take a hike. He hems and haws not QUITE leading her on but DEFINITELY not using big boy words to get rid of her. For such a strong alpha, he's a wimp, and that's annoying. Still, it's a good story and a testament to that because those details can be overlooked. Would be a 5 star with the addition a Grammarly or some other basic editing software.

Loving this story and the journey Billie and her mates are on. It's nice to see them having actual relationship struggles unlike most RH stories where things are just hunky dory too quickly. Billie's self doubt is very relatable and Xander's struggle to ask for help is a good part of his character.

I'm excited to see what comes next for our group and if Alessandro will find his own true mate or if he will be welcomed in with the others. I also can't help but ache a little for Enzo but hopefully Billie learns to let him go or he finds his place. His story is so tragic.

Also (and this is a me-thing so no hate to the author here)... I never realized how much the word "flesh" bothers me... but this was a struggle at times since the author favors it quite a bit (Kindle states it's used 163 times lol). Again, totally a me-problem.

Highly recommended story overall

Three of four

So good. Pnr, various shifters, hidden royalty, fated mates, intrigue and mysteries. This series is surprisingly profound for this genre. Well written, prose flows smoothly, has a few misused or misspelled words but otherwise well edited. Each book is long and delves deeply into the characters' personal growth. Different pov's provide insight and include the animal sides of each shifter. There is not a frustrating cliff hanger and each book ends at a logical point, but demands the reader continue on. Excellent and I highly recommend.

Another awesome addition to this series

This series is good enough that reading the new books always make me want to go back and start over. This isn't your typical shifter story. It's got weight to it; it deals with tough human emotions. The characters are real, and there's a good balance of humor and heavier things. One of my favorites!

I really enjoy books where I get to see a lot of the relationship, but I need a little more plot than what we got in this. Still really excited for the next book! And I plan to buy the paperbacks. Haha

The Fox Den (Billie Mahoney Series Book 3)

Wow! The intensity is gripping and pushed me to read more. The understanding of life, love, and protecting one another is so strong that not only do you read it, but you feel it.
