The spotlight should have been on the art, not the corpse.
Sammy eagerly lends a hand at her friend’s cafe for the latest artist showcase. Everyone is dying to meet the mysterious new artist in the French Quarter. The very person they yearned to meet becomes the victim no one expected. Sammy quickly learns the artist’s arrival in town wasn’t as innocent as it seemed.
She discovers multiple suspects and motives brewing under the surface. The longer the case remains unsolved, the worse it becomes for her friends and the cafe. Could another murder be percolating? Can Sammy unveil the truth before the trail and the coffee go cold?
A Corpse in the Cafe is the sixth book of The French Quarter Mysteries. Join Sammy as she unravels mysteries of the past and present, all while exploring the enchanting city of New Orleans.

I love this series and this addition was great. I enjoyed the NOLA references ( voodoo, Marie Laveau, St. Louis Cemetery, cafe au lait, beignets and Jackson Square) that were the background of Sammy solving another murder in this mysterious city. May have to try the sweet potato scone recipe included in the book! Looking forward to book #7, but have to wait until December 27, 2024!
Another great cozy mystery. A well constructed plot with plenty of suspects and clues. I especially liked the personal interactions. Makes me wish I lived there!
“A Corpse in the Café” is the sixth book in the French Quarter cozy mystery series by Jenn Pitts.
Set in the French Quarter, Sammy tries to solve a murder that happened in her friend’s cafe during an art show of a local artist. A group of friends are involved, and everyone seems to have a motive.
This book might be one of my favorites in the whole series so far. I found it to be along the lines of Agatha Christie or the game of “Clue.” I was wrong in who committed the murder.
I recommend this whole series. They are fun reads and a good series to take to the beach. I am looking forward to the next book. I still think it would make a great series for Hallmark Movies and Mysteries or a similar network to pick up.
This was a fun one. I didn’t get the killer right and that’s always a fun thing for me. Realistically it could have been one of 4 people, I picked the wrong one.
