Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Trope: found family, opposite side of the tracks
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

I was super excited to see that Nicole James was doing a next-gen for the Evil Dead MC and she totally didn't let me down! Hot alpha bikers and sassy, headstrong women always tick my boxes, but Marcus also delivered on a great "opposite side of the tracks" storyline that totally pulled me in. Marcus also has a great storyline, tons of action & suspense, and two MCs that have a ton of chemistry. Marcus is a standalone and the first of the new second generation series, but if you can, you should definitely check out the first Evil Dead series first. Lots of breadcrumbs for what's coming and I'm super excited for what's coming!

Marcus kicks off the Evil Dead MC-Second Generation.

This can be read as a stand alone - the books previously, have characters that come across in this book.

Brandy, works in a bar about 2 hrs away from where Marcus is at. Brandy notices Marcus right away. Marcus wants to spend time with Brandy, but the club and the new threats may take all that away from both of them.

Marcus, is a prospect for the Evil Dead MC, whose life is all about earning a patch. Will Marcus put Brandy in danger from being with her and his clubhouse? Marcus is extremely loyal to the clubhouse. The patched in members think of Marcus of the prospect leader, his is the one who is usually leading the prospects / sticking up for them the most.

Will secrets and lies keep these 2 apart? Or will it hurt Marcus and his clubhouse?

I did receive a free ARC Copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

The second generation has arrived!!

Marcus is a prospect for the Evil Dead MC. On a crazy run for one of the members he meets Brandy.

I break into a wide smile. “I’m just thinking about the thrill of climbing Mount Everest.”

Brandy comes from well to do family but she’s totally down to earth.

Green is playing the role of Fairy Godbrother in my story.

They come up against interference from several outside influences.

“Good. What you prospects do and how you act reflects on the Evil Dead. This is the first time you get to wear your big boy pants, and you’re doing it in front of other clubs.

What a great start to this series spinoff. I’m already in love with the younger generation. Plus all the original crew make there own appearances.

My Rating: 4 stars!

**ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.**

Ooh. Second generation Evil Dead!? Yes please! 😍 Marcus is a new addition to the world of the Evil Dead MC and I definitely want to see more of him! I felt like this story only scratched the surface of his story. Like many of the brothers in the club, the Evil Dead is his found-family, but his backstory is crushing to learn about and I only wish it was a little more extensive.

Just like in James’ past MC books there are solid friendships present, and in this particular story, Marcus having grew up with the other prospects, they’re all close. I must admit I was low-key hoping he would’ve had at least one close-knit bond with a full-patch OG member of Evil Dead. It would’ve been interesting to see their dynamics, especially considering his difficult upbringing and longing for familial kinship. I was undoubtedly hooked in, but as I mentioned, I feel like this story could’ve been more in-depth. Whilst certain sub-plots are setting up storylines for the next book, there were however sub-plots that I thought wrapped-up a little too abruptly.

In saying that, James’ books are absolute comfort reads for me. I know what I can expect from reading one of them, and Marcus did not disappoint. There were heaps of flirting and banter that kept up an overall playful atmosphere amongst the cast of characters, but there was also just as much action and suspense to emphasise the MC elements. I held my breath on more than a few occasions reading this book. It’s fast-paced storytelling—constantly progressing, but had a sweet romantic development between Brandy and Marcus. Although it reads as new adult due to the MC’s ages, it does contain some face-fanning sexual content. *waggles brows*

I strongly recommend you read the Evil Dead MC series first before venturing into this second-gen series. It sets up the entire world-building and backstory of all the original Evil Dead characters and all the interconnecting relationships. They play a big part in this story and readers would benefit from knowing each and every character that makes an appearance.

James’ MC books are for the most part swoony romances between hot, alpha bikers and strong, sassy heroines that unexpectedly steal their hearts. But they do contain dark themes and sensitive subject matters, some of which may be disturbing/triggering for some readers such as graphic violence, kidnapping, human trafficking, attempted rape, and death. It’s intended for readers of age, so please take into consideration before starting.

The Evil Dead MC is one of my all-time favourite MC romance series. It’s actually the books that got me into this romance sub-genre in the first place. This was such an enjoyable, gripping start to the second-gen series! It was originally released on Kindle Vella. I’m not subscribed to that platform so I have no idea if Marcus was in any way edited/ extended since then, but I’m arm-flailing-giddy James has decided to re-release it as the official introduction to this new MC series.

The writing is easy to follow and get immersed in. Marcus may be a stereotypical opposite-sides-of-the-tracks romance but I adored it. When I wasn’t beaming at certain parts of the book, I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation. The secondary characters are just as appealing as the MCs, and I’m already itching to read their stories next!

I couldn’t (and wouldn’t) put it down. A must-read for fellow Evil Dead MC fans! It’s another book that’ll leave you sighing in happy contentment. It’s also, in my opinion, an ideal MC story for readers dipping their toes in the sub-genre but who are not quite ready to go full-blown gritty MC just yet.

MARCUS is the first instalment in Nicole James’ contemporary, adult EVIL DEAD: SINS OF THE FATHER erotic, MC romance series-a next generation spin off set in the author’s EVIL DEAD world. This is Evil Dead MC prospect Marcus, and waitress Brandy Arrington’s story line . MARCUS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Several characters cross over from the original series for cohesion and history.MARCUS was first released in Kindle Vella under the title My Christmas Bad Boy.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several first person perspectives including Brandy and Marcus MARCUS follows the building romance and relationship between Evil Dead prospect Marcus, and waitress/bartender/writer Brandy Arrington. Marcus, along with other prospects TJ and Billy have been sent on a mission, a mission that will bring Marcus face to face with his future in the guise of Brandy Arrington. Brandy is working at a local grocery / bar room where Marcus and the other prospects have been sent to retrieve a Christmas package but Marcus is quickly pulled into the aura that is our story line heroine, and pursues Brandy with everything he’s got but someone is gunning for the Evil Dead MC, and Brandy is about to get caught in the crossfire along Melissa, the daughter the president of the Evil Dead MC. What ensues is the building relationship between Brandy and Marcus, and the potential fall-out as a rival MC begins to encroach on the Evil Dead territory, with the help of some powerful people at the top.

The world building continues to focus on the Evil Dead MC: their members, their wives and ol’ladies; their trials and tribulations; their enemies and threats.

The relationship between Marcus and Brandy is one of immediate attraction but Brandy’s past is refusing to let go. With her wealthy parents pushing for a permanent reunion, Brandy must tread carefully in the face of Marcus’ connections and membership in the Evil Dead MC. As Marcus and Brandy are drawn closer together, someone else is looking to destroy Marcus, using Brandy as the catalyst. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters including many of the original couples and characters who play prominently throughout the story. We are introduced to Brandy’s parents, her ex, as well as several members of the Death Heads, and Dead Souls MC.

I do have one small issue, and that is the use of so many similar names as it pertains to the MCs: Evil Dead, Death Heads, Dead Souls-it was a little bit confusing at times, especially when all three MCs were together on the same page.

MARCUS: SINS OF THE FATHER is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, opportunity and obsession, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is captivating and riveting; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are determined, dynamic and strong.

Second generation books are not usually as good as the original series.  Nicole James proved me wrong this week. Marcus is the name of a new series called Evil Dead: Sins of the Father.  The books will be named (as before) by the name of the main character.  As always, I can’t explain my love of reading this genre of a novel, but I loved the last series, so I am so looking forward to these novels.

Marcus was a prospect for the Evil Dead MC.  He was all about being a good prospect and getting his patch. He knew his focus has to be on his brotherhood and his task of becoming a full fledged member.  However, on a task that needed to be accomplished by the prospects, he met Brandy.

Brandy worked at a local bar/ministore.  The prospects showed up needing to get one more box of a sweet that the President wanted.  Marcus was immediately all about Brandy, but he knew that he needed to focus on his future with the MC.  Marcus found ways to spend time with her and with the help of some of the adults around him, learned how to “date and wow” a woman with thoughtfulness not money.

Brandy was from money, she was working on writing an opera and with Marcus and his support she found the ability to move forward.  Meanwhile Marcus was not exactly what her family had in mind.  He had to win over them as well as Brandy.  (After all, “she was a fine girl”.)

Marcus by Nicole James was a great start to a new series.  I really enjoyed meeting and connecting with the next generation of the Evil Dead. I am excited by the prospects of more books about the Evil Dead.

Marcus kicks off the Evil Dead MC-Second Generation, and I couldn't get enough so I'm already dying for more. Marcus is a prospect for the Evil Dead MC with two of his close friends, and he's just trying to do everything he can to become a patched member. OMG the task that he & his friends were assigned that brought him face to face with Brandy, had me laughing a great deal but I'll let you experience it for yourselves. The moment these two see each other, they're very much drawn to each other and the sparks are definitely flying, but balancing the prospect life on top of developing something new can be challenging but they do okay. They're truly opposites as she comes from a wealthy family while he's the bad boy but they're perfect for each other, however, it's not so easy to convince her parents of that fact. They can't stay away from each other so they're lighting the sheets on fire in his limited spare time, and just when everything is going well, his dangerous life comes knocking. It gives me my favorite aspect of twists coming in hot, and exciting action to boot to get the heart rate up. This story was very easy for more to read in one sitting since I couldn't put it down for anything as there's so much goodness in the pages. On top of Marcus & Brandy's journey, we get multiple POVs which I loved so much. A couple of POVs have me chomping at the bit for the next book, and the wait will be unbearable LOL! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Marcus is the first book I have read by Nicole James, and I am obsessed. Motorcycle Romances are my jam, and Marcus checked all my boxes I love in the storyline. There is a mystery, action, drama, scorching hot spice, like fan the face-take a few breathers-drink lots of water books. Marcus is the first book in the Sins of the Father series and should be read in order. This book is edge-of-my-seat exciting, original, gritty, and page-turning. I couldn't put my e-reader down until the end. This book is written in multiple POVs, but the main focus is on a FMC and MMC. I loved the extra POV and can't wait to read about them in the next book. This book is a second-generation series, so there are character crossovers from the first generation series, Evil Dead MC. I am going to be checking out that series real soon.

Marcus is a prospect in the Evil Dead MC. He is loyal, broody, and determined to get what he wants. I loved how possessive Marcus was of Brandy. They had instant chemistry and loved their journey in this book. Brandy was stubborn, determined, and trying to reach her dreams. I loved her tenacity and free spirit. She was not a doormat and had a backbone of steel.

This book is beautifully written and an exciting start to a series. This series will be a wild ride of emotions, from heartbreak to heartwarming.- Brooke

Marcus by Nichole James (2nd Gen Evil Dead MC)_ due 9/18/23 5 stars
Marcus & Brandy

Along with two best friends, Marcus has been a Prospect for a long while. It had to be time soon to get the patch he'd been working for so hard. The three Prospects had been chosen for a pick-up. They are usually only assigned to trusted patched members. The prospects hoped this showed they were getting close. The other good thing was meeting the feisty woman—Brandy. He was going to see her again at least once—maybe lots more.

He didn't have her number but he did see her again. And again and again??? She wasn't part of the club family. Would she accept him and become part of the club family? The people so important to him? The people aware of the dangers from other clubs and their actions.

To be a part of his life she needed to accept even being a part of the club that was so important to him.
A good read that will introduce you to the original Evil Dead, with plenty of action and danger, unforgettable characters, and steam galore. Never a dull minute. With the life she's led both of them wonder if they are a good match. However, the way they feel is it too late to back out? Do they even want to?

I couldn't put it down. I'll wager you won't be able to either.

Marcus meets Brandy while doing a run for the Club. As a prospect, he has to do whatever he is told in order to try and gain his patch. He is intrigued by her and finds himself thinking about her. She is bartending while writing a scipt for an Opera. It is what she went to college for, but her father thinks she is currently working in that field. Things did get a bit muddled as to how she got her money and what her father did for a living. I did like how Marcus stepped up and didn't play games with her. She fit into his life pretty seamlessly and didn't complain about how much time he spent doing things for the Club. The Evil Dead are trying to figure out what is going on and why they are suddenly targets for the local police. When they find out what is really going on, they take swift action to try and shut it down. Their story was interesting and I did like how it showed these two putting the other one first. It does set up the next book in the series. It will be interesting to see how Cole handles that.

This is the first in a new series, and what an amazing journey Marcus and Brandy’s journey is.
Marcus is loyal and broody, and he is a prospect who is focused on earning his patch for the Evil Dead MC, and when he walks into a bar, there is an instant attraction between him and the feisty, stubborn, independent, and tenacious, Brandy. The chemistry between these two is combustible and undeniable, and they complete each other perfectly.
This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, and action packed, with opposites attract, forbidden, mystery, drama, emotions, family, friendships, danger, suspense, loyalty, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, tragic, haunting, and steamy thrilling page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Nicole James, for giving us a second generation of the Evil Dead MC, and boy you did not disappoint, it was everything you said it would be, it was steamy, it was emotional, it was fast-paced and action-packed, you left nothing out with the scene setting for this brand new series while taking nothing away from the awesome Brandy and Marcus, yet again the attention to detail was stop on, the story-line spellbinding, how you managed to include opera in a bad boy biker club yet again proves that you are the Queen of MC writing.

I loved the vulnerable side to prospector Marcus, Brandy was the perfect Yin to his Yang, the banter between the older and younger members was a joy to read, and the stories to come I set to be as mesmerising as the first, once started I didn't put down until the end.

When I found out that Nicole was giving us the second generation Evil Dead MC, I was super excited and couldn't wait to start with Marcus. Doesn't almost every great story start with a super hot group of biker men walking through the door of a bar? LOL. This group just happens to be the prospects from Evil Dead MC and this is the gateway into Brandy and Marcus' story.

Now I have to start with their banter as I absolutely loved it. Smart and sassy and super sexy is this couple from such opposite lives. There was some definitely chemistry between them with the banter as a bit of foreplay. I loved that Marcus has that deep connection that comes from growing up with others prospecting. There is some action and suspense in his story with Brandy that made their story even more of a page turner. I really enjoyed their story and can't wait to read more.

I give Marcus 5 hearts!

FANTASTIC read!!!!!

Yes!!!! Second gen books are some of my favorite because we get to visit with old friends and see how the kids turned out with their wild parents!!!!
Marcus wasn’t technically raised in the MC but was best friends with some of the club’s kids and was practically raised by them.
Brandy is the AMAZING heroine and a perfect match (even though it might not seem like it in the outside looking in) for our hero.
Lots of MC drama, mystery, intrigue and heart pounding action - paired with the development of an amazing relationship, seeing secondary story lines develop for what I know will be upcoming novels, super spicy good stuff and a HEA that will leave you smiling.
FANTASTIC read!!!!!

2.5 stars. This is the first book in the next series of Evil Dead MC. It was an alright read. I don’t believe this story would stand on its own if not for the history from the prior series characters. I’m inclined to continue reading the series but not sure how this is the new generation if everyone is a only a prospect.

Speaking of history this book was hugely reminiscent of Crash & Shannon’s story in the original series without the trauma. It was rather unbelievable that a 20ish male prospecting for a 1% MC would be settling down with a girl who is 2 hours away who then gets an internship in another city that would require an actual boat ride. When do they have time between with the commuting and jobs?

Awesome start to the next generation

Nicole knows how to write about an MC. Marcus is just a prospect but he holds himself well and will make a great Evil Dead brother. Brandy is slinging drinks and manning a little convenience store when Marcus and the other prospects need to find these Christmas tree cakes. Marcus is not going to take no for an answer when he asks to see her again. She doesn't bother to tell him that she is super rich but she does tell him that she is trying to become a librettist. He has no clue what that is but he listens intently to what she tells him about her drama and aspirations.

Marcus is FANTASTIC! Marcus and Brandy come from very different backgrounds. Opposites in every way, yet perfect in every way for each other.

“Secrets and lies… they kill a relationship faster than anything on this earth."

These characters, as with all of this authors characters, come to life right before your eyes. The pages consume its readers as Marcus and Brandy take us on a wild ride.

"Leather and lace —that’s my Brandy."

Lots of action, surprises, twists, turns, chaos and danger wait for us in this great new generation of the Evil Dead MC.

So good

I really enjoyed Marcus and Brandy's story.
Marcus is a prospect with two club members sons Billy and TJ. He meets Brandy and falls for her. Her family life is the complete opposite of Marcus life. She is from a well to do family but for Marcus the club is his family. Please read this addition to the Evil Dead series. It is so good! So buckle up butter up and enjoy the ride!!!

Marcus

This story is based on an MC prospect and his family. His support from them, and doing what they require to earn his patch, as well as their support, trust and respect. He runs into a feisty bartender, who catches his eye, sparking interest from both, let the fun begin. This story has so much going on, full of surprises, not all good, very intense emotions \ scenes, as well as some really bad events. Awesome story.❤️

Sins of the DEAD

It's great to the second generation up to par. Marcus and Brandy's story is just like the opera she inspires to write. There are plenty of action packed scenes, sexy scenes, fights, turmoil, funny scenes and of course the known that they will do whatever is necessary for the ones they love. I would definitely recommend this book to others that love the nitty gritty life of the MC.

LOVED IT!

Okay, first off Ms James is one of my favorite authors! I have been reading her for years I can't believe how fast the time flies I was always an avid reader starting at age 10, then life got in the way and reading became not as important as raising family and working! Well now those things are done and I'm back to reading and loving every minute of it!! With authors like Ms James, I'm going into my golden years smiling!😍

There is danger, hot spice, love and angst. This a page turner and I stayed up until 5 am reading. You know, one more chapter okay one more.... I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Marcus is prospecting for the Evil Dead MC. He meets Brandy and can't help the attraction. Between the ex fighting in cage matches and her rich daddy Marcus has a great deal to prove. He wins daddy over promising to keep her safe. When a rival club plots retaliation everything he knows and loves is in danger.
Seeing the next generation is great, to see the couples with their kids was really good read.

Wow. What a book. I love catching up with the MC and meeting new guys. I couldn't put book down once started.

I loved Marcus and Brandy together, they come from two completely different worlds. But they make it work. How they meet is funny. Marcus knows what he wants and doesn't give up. Brandy is hardworking and dreams big. With everyone's support she may get it.

I can't wait for more.

Ok read

This book was an ok read. It felt rush at times and other times I just wanted to skip over parts. I didn't feel any connection to either Marcus or Brandy. The only reason why I kept reading was for the originals. Loved reading about them. That's where the 3rd star came in. If it wasn't for them this would have been a dnf.
