Neither of them were looking for love, but it found them anyway…
Charlotte Wells needs a drastic change in her life. Her editor is looking for something new, something fresh. Something romantic. And Charlotte–well, Charlotte hates love. She can’t say no to the deal from the publisher, so she heads to Orchid City for a change of scenery. What she doesn’t intend on, is finding inspiration in the hot hockey player she stumbles into.
Weston Cole doesn’t do relationships, he doesn’t do commitments. But when he meets Charlotte, she ignites something inside of him. Probably just lust, because Wes doesn’t do anything more than a quick fling. Either way, he’s looking for a good time and he has a proposition for her. He wants to be her source of inspiration, if she agrees to being his temporary distraction.
It’s the perfect situation and something they can both agree on. No attachments and definitely no feelings.
The only problem? They’re only lying to themselves.
Cali Melle is a USA Today Bestselling Author who writes sports romance that will pull at your heartstrings. You can always expect her stories to come fully equipped with heartthrobs and a happy ending, along with some steamy scenes. In her free time, Cali can usually be found living in a magical, fantasy world with the newest book or fanfic she's reading or freezing at the ice rink while she watches her kids play hockey.
Traveling from her home in Idyll Cove to Orchid City, Charlotte Wells is hoping time with her grandmother and the change of scenery will jumpstart her muse.
When two meddling retirees try to make a love connection for their grandchildren, Wes Cole agrees to help Charlie with inspiration for her spicy new series.
I love being able to count on Cali’s stories having low angst, romantic athletes, and genuinely likable characters. Written in Ice was another story that hit all the right feels when I needed a break between dark reads.

I believe Cali Melle knows how to write the best book boyfriends. I want a Weston Cole for myself. "Fuck a handshake." 🫠
When Charlotte lands a deal to write a romance series (totally different from her usual stuff), she needs inspiration to bring this new world to life on paper, and who better than an irresistible hockey player to give her that inspiration?
I was so eager to dive into Wes's book; he's an amazing character, charming, and with a huge heart. Charlotte was the perfect match for him—she's a character I instantly liked, and I loved the development she went through.
The chemistry between Charlotte and Wes is *chef's kiss*. I loved how he was into her work and always supportive. It was clear in his POVs how he was already in love with her but hadn't realized it yet. Seeing the initial barriers crumble over time warmed my heart.
Oh my god, I wasn't prepared for how hot Wes was going to be. 🔥🔥🔥
I can't forget about the grandmas – they were hilarious, and I loved every scene with them.
This is my new favorite book in the series so far. With each passing book, it just keeps getting better. I can't wait for the next one!
I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review, but all opinions are my own.
Thank you so much, Cali Melle, for sending me this ARC.
this book was so fast paced like everything happened in the blink of an eye.. there was barley any build up between Wes and Charlotte.. sure it was hot at times but that’s about it..

This was such a cute read! First off, I want to thank Cali for providing me with this eARC. I was completely swooning over Weston. I love Nico but Weston is up there. I honestly can’t pick my favorite.
Written in Ice is the third book in the Orchid City series following Weston Cole and Charlotte Wells. Charlotte is an author, and she is trying to write a new series and is having a difficult time trying to find her groove, so she decides to stay with her grandmother in Orchid City for while to find her new inspiration AND she finds that inspiration in Wes. Weston is the hockey player. He has an instant attraction to Charlotte when bumping into her at the bar. Turns out that Charlottes grandmothers is good friends with Weston’s grandmother. He can’t help the pull he has towards her. He instantly becomes her number one fan and wants to read everything she writes.
I love text messages in books sooo much. It’s my favorite. Their texts between each other are so cute. I loved them so much. This was soo good and a short read which I love. I can’t wait for you all to read this when it releases tomorrow 2/09.
I really didn’t think that anyone would be able to top Nico, as my favorite Cali hockey book man…but Weston Cole is now my #1 Cali book boyfriend! I absolutely loved this book and could not put down.
Charlie is a best-selling romantic suspense author who's publishing company is wanting her to branch out into contemporary romance....such as a story set in a small town where a couple falls in love. So she sets out for her grandma's home in Orchid City, Florida to get all the vibes and hopefully take inspiration and maybe find some inspiration. *Insert* Weston Cole via their grandmas. After Weston finds out she is an author, he reads one of her books and is instantly hooked by her writing and her. They end up hanging out more and they agree to a no-strings relationship for “research”. However, like these always go…feelings start developing…
Like I said I am absolutely obsessed with Wes. I loved how he had no hesitation to offer to be her inspiration for her book. He just how much he kept proving to Charlotte that good guys are out there. SWOON!! Absolute sweetheart and so incredibly charming. Um…the parking lot scene…IYKYK!!! The spice in this one was some of Cali’s best. I was literally so giddy, fanning myself, kicking and giggling the whole time while I was reading. This book is fast paced and so frickin’ cute. It was so sweet and spicy, I ate this shit up! I loved that this took place during the same time as Meet Me in the Penalty Box instead of after because it was cute seeing Nico and Wes interact and deal with their relationships at the same time.
Thank you to Cali and team for eARC. I cannot wait to continue the series!

We’re back again with another 5 star read from Cali 🥳
I absolutely adored this one! I loved Charlie and Wes apart but even more together! I loved that Charlie is an author and Wes made it his mission to read her books as well as offer to be her muse for the novel she was working on. They were so cute together, and Wes is an absolute sweetheart. I enjoyed how fast-paced it was, (hellllllloooo parking lot scene) the spice was absolutely top notch! I also LOVED the grandmothers! They were too cute with the meddling and their bets! 🤪
It was cool seeing Nico again! I loved that it was in the same time period from Meet Me in the Penalty Box so we were able to see a different POV of Nico and Harper!
Overall, it was a good quick read that will suck you in immediately! It will have you laughing and swooning the entire time 💖
Written In Ice is my favorite so far of the Orchid City series by Cali Melle, which is a tough call because they're all great. But I loved Wes from Meet Me In The Penalty Box, and couldn't wait to read his story based on the little tidbits we get throughout the first book in the series. And it did not disappoint! Charlotte is phenomenal, I really loved her character. She is an award-winning author, and plans an extended stay at her Grandma's in Orchid City for some inspiration as she switches genres for her next book deal. Talk about a meet cute, when she is introduced to Wes by their grandmothers, who are best friends and absolutely hilarious. Wes is a new favorite book boyfriend for sure, he was so sweet and supportive, and he falls first and hard. Their story is funny, light, fast-paced, and full of spice and witty banter. I loved every word! And the extended epilogue is absolutely adorable too. There is also ADHD rep! I can't wait for the next!!
This was the cutest read! Charlie is a best selling romantic suspense author who's publishing company is wanting her to branch out into contemporary romance....such as a story set in a small town where a couple falls in love. So she sets out for her grandma's home in Orchid City, Florida to get all the vibes and hopefully take inspiration and maybe find a muse. The first night she is there, her grandma tells her that she was gifted tickets the the local pro hockey leagues game that night and would love for them to go together. Little does Charlie know that her muse will be at this game and not only will he be there.... he will be playing.
After running into each other...literally.. after the game.. Weston Cole, the dreamy hockey player, finds out that she is an author and insists on reading her books. Just one book and he is hooked... on her and her writing. They start hanging out more and she starts "using" him for "research" and agree to a no-strings attached relationship as Charlie will be having to head home soon.....but the feelings grow, the spice spices, and the love & friendship that they have is hard to look away from. This story was so much fun and so stinkin' swoony. I would literally do anything to have a Weston Cole in my life. This one comes out February 9th and it NEEDS to be on your TBR.
Tropes -hockey player x romance author -reformed playboy -friends with benefits to lovers -he falls first and harder
oh this was just shit. the trope was amazing but the execution was HORRIBLE, the writing couldn't have been more impersonal it's like the author simply wrote this entire thing for the sake of writing it. what a waste of time
The only positive that came from reading this book is that I got a lot of speed reading practice in since I wanted nothing more than to be done with it asap.

Written in Ice is book 3 in the Orchid City series. This was my first book by Cali Melle and I was not disappointed.
Charlotte is a romantic suspense author who has been asked to branch into writing contemporary romance. She feels she will be inspired by a change in scenery, so she goes to Florida to stay with her grandmother. Charlotte and Wes meet at one of his hockey games and they are instantly attracted to each other. Neither of them wants a relationship, and after spending time together, they decide to enter into a no-strings-attached, friends-with-benefits situation.
I loved Charlotte and Wes together! The chemistry between them was leaping off the pages. Wes has landed himself on my list of top 10 book boyfriends. I love how supportive he was of Charlotte, and how he was all in with helping her find inspiration for her new book. Wes was seriously perfect! Their relationship had me giggling and swooning. The spice was perfect! The secondary characters were great as well. It's impossible not to love the grandmas!
Written in Ice is the perfect fast-paced, cute rom-com. The writing is wonderful and makes this book easy to read. All of the tropes were executed well. This was a really fun read and I enjoyed every second of it.
Thank you Cali Melle for providing me with an e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
First off thank you Cali for providing me with another book boyfriend to completely swoon over and fall head over heels for! Weston Cole is now close second to Nico 🙈
Charlotte is an author and she is finding it hard to focus on writing her new series. Charlotte typically writes romance suspense, but she’s changing completely so with this, she’s finding it difficult to find her groove when it comes to writing so the best thing for her to do is a change of scenery that’s how she ends up in orchid city at her grandmother’s.
Wes is the hockey player who doesn’t expect Charlotte in anyway whatsoever. Wes has an instant attraction to Charlotte when bumping in to her and he is just so taken back by how beautiful she is. When Wes learns that Charlotte is an author, he is determined to read her book. (He so does)
The text messages between Wes and Charlotte is so cute and there friends to benefits relationship is just chef kiss as much as they try not to fall for each other they fall for each other and I seriously couldn’t put this book down. This book was just really good.
Hands down Wes is my favorite Cali Hero! In fact this one is my new favorite book in this series as well. Need a book that feels like a warm hug but with spice? Well this one is that book!

Wes and Charlotte meet at one of Wes’s games because their grandmothers are friends and there is an instant spark between them. Wes is happy with hockey and not having any attachments and Charlotte is in town trying to get inspiration for her new romance novel.
I loved how Wes offers to be her inspiration and just how much he kept proving to Charlotte that good guys are out there. He was such a sweetheart and I didn’t expect him to be as charming as he was. I usually love nicknames but in this one, he is the only one to call her Charlotte and that made me melt!
I loved how much of a dirty talking cinnamon roll this man was and I loved how Charlotte trusted and opened up to him! The ending of this was just adorable and everything I wanted and I enjoyed every second of this!
If you loved a cinnamon roll hockey player then please read this and fall in love with Weston Cole just like I did.
I received an Arc of this book. My review is voluntary!
I’m so happy to be back in Orchid City. I love this series so much 💜 Neither Charlotte or Weston are looking for a relationship. Charlotte has been hurt in the past so love is off the cards for her. Weston likes a good time but doesn’t want commitment. They are complete opposites but they are so well suited. A romance author and a hockey player?! Perfect 👌🏼😍 I loved the flirty banter between them and the tension was soooo good! The handshake scene literally had me kicking my feet and squealing 😂🫠 It has been stuck in my read since the moment I read it 😍
Omg I loved both their grandmothers so much 🫶🏼 Evelyn and Phyllis were so fun and their friendship was adorable 🥹 The whole book was such a comforting and warm read and I loved every second of it 🥰
Can’t wait for book 4! 💜

Wes is a total sweetheart. The true sunshine of happy go lucky men. Charlotte isn’t grumpy but she’s a cynic. I’m here for the not bubbly female leads!
Charlotte needs a new view while writing her newest book. The ideas aren’t flowing at home, so she moves down to Florida to stay with her grams for a bit. One night she gets dragged to a hockey game and literally runs into Wes. Turns out he’s the hockey player grandson of her grams bestie and gave them the tickets. Their friendship blooms from there.
He reads her book yall!! And he messaged her once he’s done to discuss them!
An exhibitionist scene in a parking lot! 👀 love it. Sunshine happy man who can get down & dirty is a win every time for me!
Tenía tantas ganas de sumergirme en el libro de Wes; Es un personaje asombroso, encantador y con un gran corazón. Charlotte era la pareja perfecta para él: es un personaje que me gustó al instante y me encantó el desarrollo por el que pasó.
¡Me encantaron Charlotte y Wes juntos!
The way that the entire book set up for a certain conflict to take place and like it was so set up to create a perfect reconciliation moment and that was completely ignored and brushed off until the epilogue and then it didn’t even matter, plus the actual “conflict” only lasted about 4 pages? Pls be real with me.
Thank you Cali Melle for making me realize that I never knew I needed a hot hockey player MMC and a romance author FMC until I read this book! I absolutely loved the plot and concept of this book.
Written in Ice is the third book in the Orchard City series and I want to preface this with saying I did not read the first two books and I don't think you need to either if you are interested in reading only this book. Written in Ice is told in a dual POV and the main characters are Charlotte and Wes. Charlotte is a romance author who is staying with her grandmother in Florida to find inspiration for her new book series when she is introduced to Weston Cole, who is a hockey player and the grandson of her grandmother's friend. These two has instant chemistry and Charlotte finds inspiration for her new book through Wes. Wes makes a pact with Charlotte to help her "research" for her book and you guys, it is soooooo good! The "research" made me weak!

💭 My Thoughts: I'm going to be honest, this was the first Cali Melle book that I have read and it most definitely will not be the last. In fact, I am running to read the rest of this series! This book had be blushing, giggling and making my knees weak. I mean can we talk about that parking lot scene 🥵 hot damn did that do something to me. Like I'm still thinking about that. I also really loved the concept of our FMC being an author and Wes being her muse in a way to help give her the inspiration and creativity she needed to help write her next book. I feel like too often, hockey romances can all start to feel the same but this had a fun twist to it and I truly enjoyed it!
So if you are asking me if I think you should read this book, my answer is yes! It will make you laugh, blush and there is not only smut but also a really great plot! I hope my review helped you put this book on your TBR!
*A huge thank you to Cali Melle for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review!
Finally we’re back to the hockey goodness of Meet Me In the Penalty Box. THIS book feels like it truly belongs in the series. Tides Between us was sickly sweet, but it still felt like a departure from what I was expecting. Whereas in Written in Ice we rewind time and restart back at the start of book one, this time focusing on hockey hero Weston Cole.
After an intense game, Wes collides into a brown eyed beauty while walking to dinner with his grandmother. After an awkward introduction they part ways, but imagine his surprise when he gets to the table and there she is again blinking up at him. It turns out Charlotte is the granddaughter of his grandmother’s best friend, and the woman are most certainly meddling.
Charlie is looking for inspiration. She’s a mystery author that’s been given a book deal that’s going to change both her life… and the genre she writes in. She’s been given the herculean task of imagining a feel good beachy romance series, when her usual author dilemma is figuring out which characters to brutally kill off. She decides the best way to write a fluffy romance will be to move to her grandmother’s house in Orchid City. She’s hoping the change in scenery will help spark an idea, but she’s not expecting a hot hockey player to become her muse.
Wes was so lovely! This man is gone for Charlotte from the moment that they meet. When their paths cross again he can’t hide his delight. Despite her profession, she cynical and doesn’t believe in love, but Weston Cole is more than happy to help her with some “research” for her book.
This book was incredibly fast paced and super cute and had everything I love about a tropey sport romance. It’s sweet, spicy, and I was eating it up. I dance with glee every time I get two characters that promise each other “No feelings.” We all know they’re going to eat those words, but watching it happen is so satisfying. Wes and Charlie were so good together. Plus it was such a fun journey going back in time and watch the events of Meet Me in the Penalty Box from a different perspective. I highly recommend picking this book up. These hockey boys and their ridiculous group chat banter are a riot. I couldn’t get enough. Although the ending felt like it came all too soon, I cannot wait for the series to continue.
Thank you so much to Cali Melle and LB for this eARC! It’s so fun to be on this team.

This story follows Weston Cole and Charlotte Wells. Charlotte is an author, and she is trying to write a new series that she is not too familiar with. When she is not able to gather up ideas and start writing, she decides to go stay at her grandmother's house in Orchid City for a while to find her new inspiration, and she finds that inspiration in Wes. Weston is a professional hockey player. He has an instant attraction to Charlotte when they bump into each other at the bar. It turns out that Charlotte's grandmother is best friends with Weston's grandmother. Weston is not a relationship type of guy, but he can't help the pull he has towards Charlotte. He ends up reading her books, and becomes her #1 fan, wanting to read everything that she writes.
I loved these characters and story so much. I am obsessed with Wes. He had no hesitation to offer to be Charlotte's inspiration for her book. He was so upfront with her about everything, and he just kept proving to Charlotte that there are good guys out there. He was so charming, caring, and sweet; I was so giddy, kicking and giggling the whole time I was reading this book. This book does read quick, but I loved it; I ate this book up! Charlotte and Wes were so mature towards each other, especially when it came time for Charlotte to write, and Wes to play hockey. There was no third act break up or drama, and it was just a joy to read. I loved that this book took place during the same time as Meet Me in The Penalty Box instead of after because I really enjoyed the conversations between Wes and Nico with dealing with their relationships. The spice in this book was so delicious; the parking lot scene, I was MELTING. So far this is my favorite book in the series! I can't wait to read the next book!
“My love for her was written in the ice, carved into it with the blades of my skates” Orchid City is full of men I would like to meet. Weston Cole was no different and I loved him with Charlotte. Wes plays hockey in Orchid City and meets Charlotte one night after a game because their grandmothers are best friends. He is instantly drawn to her and when he discovers she is an author he immediately starts reading her books. “I've read your words inspired by heartbreak. I want to read your words that are inspired by something else."
Charlotte is in Orchid City strictly to write a new book, she needed a change of scenery to be inspired. However she finds her inspiration in the form of Wes. Turns out that for Charlotte who usually writes suspense books with a touch of romance that when she finds love herself the murder isn’t needed in her books.
I loved Wes and Charlotte. I also enjoyed seeing Nico and Harper’s story play out parallel to Wes and Charlotte and relive some conversations between Wes and Nico that took place in Meet Me in the Penalty Box. I’m excited for the next Orchid City book but sad it will be the last for this world. Thank you @authorcalimelle for the ARC! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥: “I'm f**king greedy, Charlotte. So when I take everything you have to give, don't say I didn't warn you."
Charlotte “Charlie” Wells is a romantic suspense author who’s just been given the proposal of a lifetime - a four book deal with her current editor. The only catch is it’s for contemporary romance, which she doesn’t write. After uprooting her entire life, she makes the move to Orchard City to stay with her grandma for research for the book.
Weston Cole is a star hockey player who isn’t looking for anything other than a good time. When he meets Charlotte, he’s instantly captivated by her.
With both of their grandparents being best friends, it’s inevitable for them to spend time together. After Wes tells Charlotte to use him for research for her book, the two continue to spend time together. But what happens when they both realize their relationship is more than just friendly?
This is by far my favorite Cali Melle book!! My goodness I loved everything about this book! I was blushing and giggling the whole time.
Wes is just a new standard for book boyfriends. He was so sweet and affectionate to Charlotte and wasn’t ever afraid to tell her how he felt. He was so playful and so dirty - top tier book boyfriend.
Charlotte was such a fun character and I loved how she slowly broke down her walls and let Wes in. I also loved how she took what she wanted with him and wasn’t afraid to give him back sass.
Written In Ice is the third book in the Orchid City series and I think it’s my favourite so far!🤌🏻
Charlotte goes back to Orchid City to stay with her grandma so she can try to get inspiration for her new book! Her grandma takes her and her brother to an ice hockey game and that’s where she meets Wes.
Wes doesn’t do relationships, just like Charlotte, but when they bump into each Wes is instantly smitten. Their friendship turns into more and Wes becomes her muse.
Taking a moment to appreciate the man that is Wes. How he speaks about Charlotte, cares for her, protects her and just ADORES HER♥️ Charlotte lets Wes in and I loved how she knew how safe she was with Wes, no matter what.
I loved Charlotte and Wes’ story so much! Such a good read!
Written in Ice is the third book in the Orchid City Series and like the other books in this series - it is just so comfy/cozy and I eat it up every single time! 💜
In this story we finally get Weston’s story (our favorite reformed playboy) and Charlotte a famous author who just needs a little inspiration with her newest release.
This book kicks off with Charlotte’s publishers offering her a book deal/series that is outside of her genre. When she starts to work on things she soon realizes she is lacking inspiration and is in a need of a change. She heads to stay with her Grandma in Orchid City and then see soon meets Weston — the pro hockey player who is the grandson of her Grandma’s bestie… and lets just say their Grandma’s are so stinking cute.
There were so many things in this story that I loved like the fact that he read and LOVED her books. He was a reformed playboy and fell so fast for her. The way he would not let her walk away from things when it was tough and pushed her to face her past and feelings. And their first moment together was HOT.
This series and Cali’s writing is genuinely cozy and so much fun to read! I can’t wait to see what she has planned next ☺️🫶🏻

I am so enjoying this small town series 💜 Charlotte is a thriller writer tasked with a new book deal for a contemporary romance. She’s been hurt before and doesn’t believe in love. She goes to her grandmothers home in Orchid City and meets a handsome hockey player, Weston Cole. He’s not interested in a relationship but slowly falls for Charlotte!
Wes read all of her books and I thought it was so romantic! He became her muse 💜 and the spice is always good from Cali!

Gah, I love me a reformed playboy romance, and Weston Cole didn't disappoint me!
I knew from the first book in this series that he would be a fun time, and that he was! This timeline also follows very closely to Nico & Harper, so you get some glimpses into what was going on with Wes in that first book, which I loved!
Charlotte was a fun but super guarded FMC, as she was not on board with love & protected her heart at all times. I liked that she was an author switching up genres and needed a little inspo help & Wes was just the man for the job!
I enjoyed this one so much, and loved their journey!
I devoured this book when I first beta read it for Cali. Wes and Charlotte truly are meant to be together and gosh, why is Wes so freaking dreamy?!
Their chemistry was off the charts...UMM HELLO A CHASE SCENE?! And I adored how supportive Wes was to Charlotte...even volunteering himself as a test subject for her writing

This book can be read as a standalone, although I recommend reading Nico Corine’s first as there are some ties within the book.
Wes Cole has me swooning and Cleary love Charlotte from the very beginning. I am hooked with their very obvious wanting to date each other, but trying to keep things surface level immediately.
Very well written, and I love that there is no breakup scene.
