A Book A Day Color Theory 3, Let Love Live!, a collection from 10 of today’s hottest romance authors featuring brand new stories about love that defies color. The bonds of love are not defined by the color of one’s skin or what we see on the outside, but by the strength of character and beauty within. These couples will break through the walls of prejudice and overcome any obstacles in the path to their happily ever afters. This anthology will only be available for a short time. All proceeds will aid the education of Black students through the A Book A Day Scholarship Fund.

Thanks to Golden Angel,i got a chance to read this Anthology, and i can’t thank her enough. I enjoyed most of these short stories, each story is different, each story is in it’s own genre. I do have to admit they weren’t all for me,but that’s not unusual in an Anthology. This is what i thought of them:
4* Veiled Truths by A.M. Kusi A sweet story with a dark edge and the right amount of suspense. Sweet because of the kind of person Penelope is,and how she submits to Carter. The dark edge because of the abuse she has to endure. (Not Carter!) And the right amount of suspense because….
Carter just got out of prison where he’d been the past 5 years. Wrongfully convicted,he only has one plan, get the justice he deserves. But first he needs to unwind, and what better place than the local BDSM club, right? The girl he sees there may be new to the scene, but she submits so beautifully…and then disappears. Until he sees her in the office of his new workplace. And she’s not called Piper, but Penelope. If that was all,it wouldn’t be a problem, but she has secrets that turn out to be a dealbreaker. Because she’s engaged, and not only that, but to the same man that ruined his life!
Penelope has been stuck between a rock and a hard place for a very long time. Being forced to marry a man that makes her skin crawl by her father is a low point she never thought she’d reach, though….so,she decides to at least have one night of freedom before life in hell begins. She never expected to see her one-time Dom to show up at work, though. Or to realize how quickly he’d crawled into her heart… To find out his plans crushed it just as fast, but she’d be damned if she’d allow her fiancé and her father to ruin his life for a second time!
1* A Dance With The Mobster by Christy Anderson A story that could’ve been more, but turned out to be not for me. It has Russian and Irish mobsters killing eachother, and an innocent girl caught in the middle. The Irish take her,the Russians have her phone. The Irish turn out to be gentle, the Russians don’t use the phone. I didn’t get a real feeling of suspense or angst from this one….
Cat witnesses a murder and is taken by Irish mobster Sully. She’s afraid he’s going to kill her too,but still has time to admire his physique. There are very few attempts at escaping, instead she tells him she has a cat she wants taken care of by her bestie in case she ends up dead. And that she wants to call her bestie and her parents. Sully then brings said cat to her instead, and allows her to call and reassure her loved ones. And after a few days,he decides to let her go…..to an upgraded home, with added security because she was too good for him?
4* One Hot Night by Golden Angel This was a fun story with a serious undertone. Fun because it’s a story that takes place in one of my favorite clubs,Marquis. The serious undertone because of the reason why Rae is punished by Brian. I’ve known Rae and Brian for quite some time now,and was hoping to see them connect for that entire time. Only Rae still isn’t ready to admit she’s a Little. She’s not going to call her Dom Daddy,no way! It’s not like she had a bad childhood,or hated her father,so it feels wrong in every way. If only she didn’t like some of the other things that came with the dynamic… Luckily,Brian is a very patient Daddy Dom who knows she’s his…..in any way he can get her. And he’s not going to give up on her just yet….
Seeing Brian,Mitch,Kincaid and Zack being cozy with Morgan did something to Rae and Domi, and it wasn’t good…. Worse thing was that Freddy overheard them talking badly about her,and ratted them out to Brian and Mitch. And they knew exactly what to do with these two gossiping subbies…. This is the story of how Brian took Rae into a room designed for Littles and gave her a fitting punishment. I só hope to see these two get together!!!
4* Hamilton House by Lori Collier This was an action packed story with shifters and witches of different kinds. Even though it’s short,it gives a full picture. Not only of the world, but of Darius and Everly, too. The action is well done, the romance too.
Darius is the pack enforcer while at the same time raising his younger brother. Life is good, but there’s trouble on the horizon…. Correction, trouble just came running in the form of a frightened little Rhino, one he knows. One that he knows Everly, the love of his life, would never have allowed to come to him alone. Not unless her coven was in trouble….big trouble. Not hesitating after he coaxes the necessary answers from the small boy,he takes the warriors and witches he needs to save Everly and her loved ones. And finds a coven of dark witches ready to wake the house of Hamilton by sacrificing Everly’s entire coven…..including the children. Are they in time to save everyone? And will the plan that Everly set in motion just in case they weren’t,work?
2* Thank My Lucky Stars by Lyra Parish A second chance small town story about a girl who didn’t want to stand in the way of her boyfriend’s bright future as a rodeo star. He’s coming back for a fortnight after 13 years away, and it brings back memories for both. Add in a meddling family, and friends, and what you get is not so coincidental meetings where she’s reluctant to commit, but he’s ready to earn his second chance. After admitting to eachother they still have feelings it’s smooth sailing from there on. A story that wasn’t really my cup of tea….but could be yours.
3* Love Merger by Maddie Wade Starts out as a story of a businessman falling for the woman that annoys him at first, and who turns out to be a whole lot more than he first thought. And a woman falling for the businessman she thought was ruthless, but turned out to be anything but. There are a few layers hiding Grace from Gray, and once he starts peeling those back,he finds he starts liking her. Giving yoga classes with mini goats in the room is something he didn’t expect, and he wants to know more. Hearing Gray singing in his car to please his niece was not something she thought he’d do. But if there were budding feelings for him, they’re thoroughly crushed by her father’s actions. Will Gray still have a shot at convincing her they’re meant to be??
3* My Past Perfect by Mel Walker Is a story about second chances being given against all odds. Because true love can’t be denied. It’s time for the high school reunion of Nayla and Cole, and she’s done her best to not go…to not face the man she broke up not once, but twice. Ten years is a long time, but it doesn’t make her feel any less broken, less alone. He was her perfect, and she was his,but she had to let him go. Her bestie manages to convince her to come to the reunion,to face him one last time. And at that reunion,Cole is every bit the perfect man he’s always been for her. Making her decide to tell him the truth of why she broke up with him….. Will they have their second chance? Or are the same reasons going to keep them apart forever?
4* Last Promise by Phoebe Alexander This story starts out perfectly with a happy trio,Lainey, her husband Noah and Ty. Her men work well together as police officers, and satisfy all of her needs. Until, one day, they’recalled out to a domestic, and Noah ends up dead….. With traditional parents, both Lainey and Noah don’t know how to deal with their shared loss. Staying away seemed wise to Noah, but they’re both hurting so much! And when Lainey finds out she’s pregnant,he knows he hás to make good on his promise to Noah to take care of her…..but how?
It broke my heart to see the two survivors struggle with their feelings. To know they only stayed away from eachother because they didn’t want to hurt their families more than they already were. And i’m glad there were others that decided they shouldn’t have to be alone anymore.
3* Protecting Sydney by RJ Gray This one tells the story of a mother and her young daughter who are trying to start a new life. Sydney’s ex was abusive, and nearly killed her when she finally managed to leave him. Luckily, her cousin Rider was able to help her and Lily find a safe place. But lately,Mike had started calling her,and Sydney worried he might have found them. Rider, again, came through and offered protection in the form of a large black vet, called Wesley. Having him in the house, and having him around 24/7 was unnerving at first. But as time passed, she and Lily came to depend on this gentle giant more and more. In fact,Syd started to have feelings that went far beyond that…..until reality caught up,and Mike stood at her frontdoor.
A story about second chances at happiness, and learning to trust a man’s promises for real this time. More focussed on the sweet, and on the vulnerability and fear Syd felt after Mike. Focussed on how Wes worked his way into her and Lily’s hearts. With a quick solution to the threat she’d been living with for those years….
3* Waxing Poetic by Sarah Robinson This is a story about how two best friends became more than that. And not just two best friends, one of them is non-binary. When Demetrius and Nicole met, they went straight into the friend-zone. And they’ve been there ever since, until Nicole asks him to allow them to try something on him that they’d just learned. Somehow, that changes his mindset totally…..and he can’t find a way to change it back. When they find out Nicole’d been scammed and their bankaccount is empty,he jumps at the rescue. And it has another side-effect…..with them ending up in his bed…..and having an awkward morning after. Do they regret sleeping with him? Was it that bad? Or are they worried it was just the one night for him? He needs to let them know what it meant to him, badly! But then he hears who took their money, and he knows it will be a blow to them…..
A story that was sweet as well as an enlightening peek into the life of people who look at themselves differently than most. People who deserve a happy after that fits the way they look at life,at who and what they are. It also has a learning moment about how to keep your finances safe…..
a free book in exchange of a review... have to say its a book of short stories that some will like and some will pass on...not a big fan of short stories
some of the stories have trigger warnings which is helpful as i skipped over them... and some of the stories were very good and will be keeping an eye out for those authors
all in all if you are into romance stories then this is the book for you giving you an idea of what the authors can do...
I’m writing a review of RJ Gray’s story Protecting Sydney in this collection. Sydney and Wesley story is short but very sweet. She and her daughter are hiding from a very abuse ex-husband . Wesley steps up to help and the sparks begin to fly. How it all works out is a wonderful sweet read!
Color Theory 3 is a multi-author anthology that celebrates love in all forms. Love comes in all colors, shapes, sizes, and blossoms in even the rarest and darkest of places. I originally received this book to read the short story by A.M. Kusi, Veiled Truths. It is the first book in the anthology and it’s the only book I have read so far in it. But I will be coming back to this book after I read my other ARCs and read the other stories since they are all new authors to me, which I love.
Veiled Truths is a fast paced dark romance novella sized book featuring Penelope Croft and Carter Sanders. There are trigger warnings for this book so please make sure you read that section and proceed with caution. This book highlights the BDSM lifestyle and the relationship between a Dom and submissive. It doesn’t go into all the nitty gritty details and note that this is the author’s interpretation of the lifestyle.
As young girl, Penelope Croft was adopted by a caucasian couple. With her father being a Senator in their small community, she was forced to forget her roots and background and live how her parents wanted her to and look according to how the public eye would benefit her father most. Growing up in their household presented a lot of challenges and obstacles for her to live with and to overcome. Meaning her life was never her own and her ability to make choices was taken away. She was a caged bird with no freedom, all for show, and political gains. On her birthday, she decided to take matters into her own hands and live the night how she wanted. She ended up in a club and met a man who changed her life in more ways than one.
At thirty one, Carter Sanders is released from prison serving time for a crime he knows he was set up for. Just five years prior, he was a high school principal and when he wouldn’t let a rich kid get away with a crime, he was then convicted of a drug charge and time in prison. Now that he is out, he is ready to take mattes into his own hands and seek the revenge he has been planning since he was incarcerated. Even though he is free from prison, he’s still caged - forced to live within the boundaries set by someone else. To let off some steam, anger, or something along those lines, he finds himself at the club- surrounded by the sounds of what gets his blood pumping as well as his sense of control. He eyes a beauty in the back and it’s history from there.
Penelope and Carter grew up in different worlds and find themselves at the same club. Now this club isn’t just any ole night club, it’s a BDSM club and it’s one heck of a way to find your destined one. But with Carter being the one to introduce and give Penelope a taste of the dynamic and the lifestyle, she is well taken care of. What should have been a one night thing turns into something else and more. They met under the guise of lust and desire and ended up falling for one another despite all the odds and the cards against them. With danger lurking at their backsides, Carter will do anything to protect Penelope and vice versa. Both dragons ready to slay whatever comes their way. They both help each other heal in ways only one another could and together they are able to conquer the world and be free of the chains that tied them down.
I read the note where this book leads into the new series by the author and I am so excited to read more about that. I am definitely interested in Cillian, Axel, and Brick's stories as well as the club. Maybe that is what this new series is about and if so, I am here for it. 😉 Maybe we will hear more about in Nova’s book, but January is such a long long time away. Fingers crossed there is something else in between now and then.
I am a huge fan of A.M Kusi and I think I have read every book in their backlist. I love how they feature love without bonds in every book they write and how diverse they are. There is always something in their books that I can relate to and it’s not just because I was adopted, of Asian decent, or grew up in a primarily caucasian small town either. Life is hard, messy, and the way these two tie real issues/situations/ problems with a HEA love story is a gift. These two write from their hearts and with passion and as a reader, I love seeing that shine within the pages. Congratulations on another successful book and release. I hope you both are enjoying the love and support that this book is getting.
Ten love stories in one anthology that all touch on different subjects but have one common thing. The couples are each a different race and they truly show love knows no color and you should be free to love whom you want. There’s a story for just about everyone in this anthology.
Thank My Lucky Stars by Lyla Parish
There’s something about a cowboy and Lyla knows how to write them. Sadie and Andrew were childhood sweethearts and got their well deserved second chance. Andrew is a bull rider and so swoony. He’s 100% committed to Sadie and has no problem working for her affection. Sadie is a sassy baker who has no problem letting him work for it but she missed him as much as he missed her. I loved this mini addition to the “Valentine Texas” series and I can’t wait for more.
Waxing Poetic by Sarah Robinson
Oh how I loved this representation of Queer and non-binary love. Everyone deserves to be loved for who they are.
Nicole and Demetrius have been best friends ever since meeting at a singles happy hour. Demetrius is a black man who works for a security company. Nicole identifies as non-binary and is working towards their cosmetology hours. When they need help with some different skin types, Demetrius reluctantly agrees because it involves waxing. But something shifts for Demetrius when Nicole needs his help.
This story was short, sweet and was a joy to read. It’s all from Demetrius’s POV and I loved his discovery of admitting his feelings for Nicole. Their friendship was so great and having them transition into something more felt so right. This was a great novella and I’m so glad I had a chance to read it. The mini-epilogue was so sweet and made my heart happy.
I am on the ARC team for several of these authors. I'd rate it a 3.5-4 I will purchase the book because of the cause it supports.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Veiled Truths by A.M. Kusi ⭐️⭐️ A Dance With The Mobster by Christy Anderson (Would not read again.) ⭐️⭐️ One Hot Night by Golden Angel (This is a problematic author for me. Her books often include r$pe and abuse. I read with an open mind but eh.) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hamilton House by Lori Collier ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank My Lucky Stars by Lyra Parish (New to me author. I'd read her again.) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love Merger by Maddie Wade ⭐️⭐️ My Past Perfect by Mel Walker (lacks steam. Well written. I think he might be a clean romance author?) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Last Promise by Phoebe Alexander (New to me author. I'd read again.) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Protecting Sydney by RJ Gray (An avid reader of RJ Gray. However, this book is missing something... maybe she will turn it into a full-length?) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waxing Poetic by Sarah Robinson
There is a little bit of everything in here; from silly to sweet, heroic to heart-wrenching. There are new loves, old loves come back again, lost loves, and loves found just in the nick of time. And all of them proving how very little the outside packaging matters when the heart wants what it wants. I loved the stories in this anthology. Several of the authors are ones I’ve been reading for years, but the others have just been added to my ever-expanding one-click and to-be-read lists. Even though there are stories in here that made me cry, or left my heart racing in fear and anxiety, I closed the covers with the biggest, happiest grin on my face, because this was just such a satisfying collection to read. I received a complimentary copy of this book from one of the contributing authors.
This review is for Veiled Truths by A.M. Kusi. I was excited to dive into the read as Ash & Marcus are one of my favourite author duo's. They delivered everything I expected. It was easy to connect with both Penelope, Carter and fall in love with them. They could not have anticipated how there time together will change there whole life. They both need to fight there own demons. I was engrossed in the read from the first page and finished it in a single sitting. It's a sweet story with its own darkness. As expected from the author duo they left me wanting for more. Cannot wait for what's to come next. Thanks to the author duo for the advanced copy of this amazing read.
Normally I don't read short stories (school kind of ruined me of them), but an author I like reached out because her work is included so I agreed. I read the stories that seemed interesting to me.
One Hot Night, Hamilton House, Thank My Lucky Stars, and Love Merger. The last was the only story I didn't care as much for. The others I felt I got a good peek as to what a full length novel would be and I was interested in reading more.
Veiled Truths A M Kusi Carter has just been released from prison, he is innocent of the crime, he feels restless and goes to a club, there he meets Piper/Penelope. Imagine their surprise when he goes to work the following week and shes the HR person. Her adopted parents and her fiancé are nasty and vicious to her. Meanwhile Carter is trying to prove his innocence.
Hamilton House Lori Ryan/Collier Darius, a dragon shifter, receives information that Everly, a unicorn shifter, is in trouble, the witches are attacking. Can Darius get there in time?
Color Theory 3 is a collection of ten short stories by today’s biggest romance authors. Below I’ll break down my thoughts on each story. Overall this was a good series, there were stories that didn’t interest me and others that I really liked. There is something for everyone in this set of short stories. I got my overall star rating from the average of my rankings for the ten stories.
3 stars - Veiled Truths by A.M. Kusi is a romance heavy on the BDSM at the beginning, but once you get into the story it becomes a sweet romance with a dark side. A few chapters in, the story gains some actual storyline that isn’t fully about all of the BDSM and the characters actually connect on a personal level. I wasn’t a huge fan of the BDSM, that’s just not my thing in romances, but once the story picked up, I did enjoy it.
2 stars - A Dance with a Monster by Christy Anderson is a textbook Stockholm Syndrome romance. I am not a huge dan of these type of romances so, this wasn't for me. This was a well written and engaging story, but it wasn't for me. I think someone who enjoys this type of story would like this romance.
2 stars - One Hot Night by Golden Angel is a hot and a tree Amy romance full of 50 Shades type domination. This was definitely not for me, I am not a huge fan of this type of romance, but I can definitely see how others would like it.
3 stars - Hamilton House by Lori Collier is a paranormal romance full of different types of supernatural beings, like witches and shifters. This story was full of action and was well written. Even though it was short, there was a whole lot to the story. The romance was a little on the light side, but this was action filled and a quick read.
3 stars - In Thank my Lucky Stars by Lyra Parish, two old flames reconnect years later and admit they still have feelings for each other. This was a well written short romance, but I didn’t connect with the characters much so I couldn’t get into it like some other romances. I liked the idea of the story, but it just wasn’t for me.
3 stars - Love Merger by Maddie Wade is a romance about a businessman who is instantly intrigued by a woman he sees walking into a coffee shop. Intent on getting to know her, Gray follows her in and meets her. Will she end up being the woman of Gray’s dreams or something else entirely? There were parts of this romance that I liked, but parts that rubbed me the wrong way as well. Some of the things that happened seemed a little outdated and convoluted for me. Not my favorite short story in this bunch.
4 stars - My Past Perfect by Mel Walker is a romance about reconnecting at a high school reunion with the one you let get away. I found this to be an enjoyable, sweet read. It was a bit predictable, like a lot of romances, but I still really liked the story.
3 stars - Last Promise by Phoebe Alexander is a romance story involving a polyamorous couple. Lainey is the woman in the relationship and her two partners are also police officers who are partnered together. When a night on the job turns deadly and only one of the two men is left standing, Lainey has to come to terms with the giant changes in her life and relationship. Overall I enjoyed the idea of this short story, but I think it might have been better if it was a little longer and had time to have more of a story play out. I did enjoy this read, it just didn’t have as much punch for me as I think it could have if it was a full book.
4 stars - In Protecting Sydney by RJ Grey, Sydney’s ex gets out of prison and comes looking for her and their daughter. In steps Wes, a retired Navy SEAL, to help keep them safe as he serves as their bodyguard. Along the way will Wes’ need to protect Sydney turn into something more? I loved this pairing from the very beginning and even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the violent ex storyline, I loved the ending of this short story. It was so sweet!
4 stars - Waxing Poetic by Sarah Robinson is the romance of two friends who finally get together. The two had friend zoned each other when they first met, but faced with some of life’s challenges, they can’t seem to stay apart. This was a cute story and I enjoyed the friendship these two characters shared before they crossed the line into more than friends. Even though this was a short story and I knew they were going to get together, I still found myself hoping they would from the first page!
Overall, I thought this short story collection was a good mix with many different types of romance, something for everyone!
I received the ARC from Lori Collier. I did not get the chance to review all the stories in this book.
Hamilton House - Lori Collier 3.5 stars A short, fast paced, action filled, paranormal story. The story was full of shifters and witches as well as a house shrouded in magic, and not necessarily a completely positive force.
There was also a touch of romance included between Darius and Everly. There combined strength and love for one another seemed to be the only thing that would allow them to have their HEA.
One Hot Night - Golden Angel 4 stars This story left me hanging. It wasn't a cliffhanger. I t didn't answer the questions I had left, yet, it made me want to know more about Brian, Rae, Domi, Mitch, and Morgan.
I felt like like the Brian and Rae situation was only resolved for the moment. What was going to happen when they left the private room?
Love Merger - Maddie Wade 5 stars This was a sweet love story. I liked the way Grace and Gray threw the snark and sarcasm back and forth. They were both likable characters. I was not expecting the surprise Grace's father threw at them. I was glad they got their HEA.
Protecting Sydney - RJ Gray 3.25 stars I did like this story. I liked Sydney and Wes. I thought Lily was cute. I liked the way Wes was so careful with both Sydney and Lily. Out of the short stories I have read so far, this one had the most suspense which helped to keep me engaged.
I thought the only drawback to their story was that I didn't get much of a sense of Sydney and Wes' interaction. From Sydney's POV, she talked about how she felt closer to Wes, about how he was loving on them, and how he was caring for her with his actions.
Sydney talked about them talking about their lives, but they really had no dialogue in the book that made me feel like they were getting closer to each other. When they did have dialogue, it was about the threat lurking over them.
Rest assured, Wes, Sydney, and Lily did get their HEA.
******** These were the only short stories I read. If I get the opportunity to read the other stories in the book, I will update the review.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is the first time I've come across this great cause and was excited when Golden Angel offered me the opportunity to read the ARC. As such, I'm choosing to do my review on Ms. Angel's contribution, 'One Hot Night'. If the remainder of the stories in this anthology are as poignant as this, then I'm sure I have hours of enjoyment ahead of me. The complete anthology includes: 1. VEILED TRUTHS by A. M. KUSI 2. A DANCE WITH THE MOBSTER by CHRISTY ANDERSON 3. ONE HOT NIGHT by GOLDEN ANGEL To be honest, Golden Angel is one of my one-click authors because her stories are always compelling and her characters are perfectly flawed in such a way they become totally relatable. If you're familiar with her work, especially those that take place at Stronghold or Marquis, both BDSM clubs, then you'll recognize the Hero and heroine in this story. We get a small snippet of Rae and Brian's story. I've been waiting for these two to quit dancing around each other for so long but as much as Rae has a crush on Brian, she's not willing to admit she wants or needs a Daddy Dom. Fortunately for her, Brian has an overabundance of patience because, in his mind, Rae is his little girl and he'll accept what she gives him until she's ready. The punishment scene we get to witness is HOT. Here's hoping Golden Angel doesn't make us wait too long for that to happen.
4. HAMILTON HOUSE by LORI COLLIER 5. THANK MY LUCKY STARS by LYRA PARISH 6. LOVE MERGER by MADDIE WADE 7. MY PAST PERFECT by MEL WALKER 8. LAST PROMISE by PHOEBE ALEXANDER 9. PROTECTING SYDNEY by R. J. GRAY 10. WAXING POETIC by SARAH ROBINSON
Masters of the Marquis book 1.5. Rae has been to the club taking their beginner sub classes. She has a few hard limits which make her attraction to Master Brian a non-starter. Caught talking out of turn, and needing discipline, which is handed out by that same Master Brian, who also has his eye on her. Can a special scene open Rae's eyes to the possibilities?
***** Thank My Lucky Stars ***** ***** Lyra Parish *****

***** Protecting Sydney ***** ***** RJ Gray *****
An abusive ex keeps Sydney and her daughter Lily on the run. Her brother hires Wesley to be her bodyguard until the situation can be resolved. Sweet and tender as a large protector becomes a superhero for Lily and so much more for Sydney. Terrific.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
Thanks to the author Sarah Robinson I received a digital ARC of this anthology. The book includes short stories from ten different romance authors with the proceeds benefitting black students scholarships. I only read and can review Robinson’s story called Waxing Poetic. When my TBR pile is smaller I may return to the anthology and add reviews for other stories in the book.
In Waxing Poetic two longtime pals who’ve firmly been in the friend zone make a move to more (closed door). Demetrius is successful and works for his fathers security firm. Nicole is non-binary and working on their cosmetology hours. Humorously this is the first book I’ve read where I get to experience up close manscaping. I appreciate the representation by including an LGBTQIA character. The story is short at just under 40 pages but I got a good understanding of the characters and their personalities. It even includes a mini epilogue. I enjoyed the story. If I hadn’t read it in the blurb I wouldn’t have connected this to the authors new Queerly Devoted series of which I’ve read the first book, Baby Bank (Sept 2023).
Thank you to Sarah Robison for the ARC and the other authors for participating in a worthy cause. I am leaving a voluntary review.
Great short story by an array of authors including one of my favorites, Maddie Wade!!!
Maddie's short story is about Gray and Grace and how sometimes we are quick to judge people simply by how they show themselves to others. Gray saw Grace and had to meet her, something about her just drew him in and he was captivated. Grace, had to know who was buying her father's company, the one she hoped to be CEO of when he retires. Grace's father doesn't trust Gray because he knows nothing about the man because all he knows is what is seen in public, nothing personal! To get the merger he is wanting, Grace's father added a stipulation to the deal, Gray and Grace must get married! Grace felt hurt and then anger because she felt like her father didn't think she could do the job, that a woman couldn't do the job. She worked so hard to get where she is and now, someone else would get that title!
This anthology is fantastic. Today I'm reviewing Protecting Sydney by RJ Gray, which is a five star story. There are nine other stories, some by authors I have read before, and some of whom are new to me.
Sydney is a battered woman hiding from her ex husband. When he gets out of prison and comes for her, her cousin, a retired Navy SEAL and owner of a private security firm, connects her with Wesley, another retired SEAL, and experienced bodyguard. Trust does not come easily for Sydney, but when Wesley wins over her five year old daughter, she cannot help but see Wesley as a Hero too. Their relationship develops into love, and they get a happily ever after. The story is well written, and while there are scenes of graphic violence, they are never gratuitous. It was a quick and enjoyable read. Now to go back and devour the rest of the stories. Thank you, RJ Gray, for the advance reader copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
This review and rating is only for one short story in this anthology : Viewed Truths by A.M. Kusi.
Penelope and Carter are fantastic characters. Both have their own demons they are fighting who actually ended up being the same group of people. I loved their spicy introduction and how they connected almost instantaneously.
As all of my other experiences with A.M. Kusi novels, I was instantly sucked into the story and adored the characters. This could have nev a full length novel and I would have devoured it then too.
I love how both Penelope and Carter grew so much in this story and how they took the reins to make their own futures, rather than having someone else dictate their lives. Very much enjoyed this short story!
Veiled Truths, part of Color Theory 3, by A.M. Kusi. Read the trigger warnings!
Penelope is a biracial plus-size woman & let me tell you I appreciate that Ash & Marcus use realistic descriptions of heroines & heroes! This was a fantastic short story that is a lead into a new series! 😍

As simple as that message may be, the underlying factors, lessons and messages of each of the stories in this book make it clear that love lives in us all. Also made clear with these stories, is that diversity in relationships does not alter the meaning behind the title, but actually enhances them.
A Book A Day Presents Color Theory 3: Let Love Live! by Renita McKinney consists of a group of authors each bringing a unique spin to the reading table. There may be different topics and genre, but you will notice the bottom line is positive and wonderful.
Renita McKinney has brought her vision to fruition once again. From her dedication page to the last page, this collection of authors and stories resonate her message clearly. Her continued efforts to support and promote the education of Black children through the book sale proceeds shine brightly. I cannot say enough about all the great stories, contributed by great authors. Wonderful job not only for Book 3 but to all the authors that have shared their love throughout this series!
Thank you goes to Maddie Wade who sent me an ARC copy of this book.
I have always been a fan of short stories and an anthology like this which can introduce me to new authors is always going to be a winner!
Here I found 10 very different stores by some excellent authors, and although some of them were not the stories which I would have picked up myself, I can honestly though I enjoyed some more than others, they all gave me something. The standout stores for me were by Golden Angel Maddie Wade, Sarah Robinson and RJ Grey; there were tears, laughter, grief, acceptance, love and so much more contained within these stories here and the fact that it benefits such a good cause is even better.
I was given a free ARC copy and this is my honest review.
One Hot Night was my impetus for reading this anthology and I was not disappointed. Readers of Golden Angel’s Stronghold series have been wanting to find out about Brian and Rae and this story was so good and if the last line means what it says we finally have closure for this couple. It was, of course, a very hot story with humour, it was fun to read.
While I enjoyed many of the other stories, there were 2 more stories that stand out My Past Perfect and Protecting Sydney. Both authors are new to me but I plan on reading more.
This is a great collection of short stories and I am happy to have found new authors as well as reading Golden’s story.
Wonderful collection of stories that cover cover most genres of romance from BDSM to second chances, high school first love to office. Some are hot and steamy and others a walk down memory lane, but all are happy endings and complete. I read mainly for Maddie Wades one which I absolutely loved, great characters who were easy to like and definitely one I didn't put down. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy all but one of these, they were well written and easy to read, a varied interesting subject matter, I don't always find anthologies that good apart from a few authors so I'm more than happy to reccomend this one. Very enjoyable and romantic.
One hot night/Golden Angel If you've been following the Master of Marquis series, I'm guessing you've been waiting for Brian & Rae story to unfold (and for Rea to finally figure out how perfect Brian is for her). If you read Bondsge Buddies, you already read about this incident as part of Domi's and Mitch story. I was excited to read what went on between Brian and Rea following the same incident. Hopefully their amazing night would finally make Rea see the light and help her understand that she belongs with Brian! I loved this story but it's not suprising, as I love all of Golden Angel's stories.
Although I skipped some of the stories because the trope was not my style I adored the authors I like Mel Walker and Maddie wade. This book brings to light the person of color in the world they live in. It hits close for me because my adult son has pretty much only dated girls of color. While some of the topics in the book are no surprise to me because I have seen first hand the way my sons girlfriend is treated it gives me a good feeling of more people understand the sense of a mixed blended family. I'm an old reader and lived thru times when this was frowned upon. I am glad we can write about this.
The real reason I read this book was Lori Collier's Hamilton House. I am a big fan of the Roxi Andrews series, and this story folds into that world. It was lovely to be back there, thrown right away in a very serious problem, and to see how it played out. Great characters, plot, and writing. I recommend all of this series!
I also thoroughly enjoyed Waxing Poetic by Sarah Robinson. This is the first work I have read by her and would definitely read more. No spoilers, but the story is well written, the characters appealing, the plot lovely. Definitely rooted for the outcome & was glad when it came about.
None of the other stories captured me, so my star rating is based on these two.
I received a copy of this from Lori Collier who is one of the authors.
This is a compilation of short stories that are aimed at proving that skin colour makes no difference to love. For me, a white Scot, the colour of a person’s skin doesn’t make a difference. I know of several multi-racial marriages that are successful.
I really enjoyed all of the stories in this book even although they are quite different from each other.
I have also discovered authors whose work I will read who I might not have found otherwise.
If you are looking for a book to dip in and out of then I recommend this one.
Color Theory 3 is an amazing anthology that brings you so many Swoon worthy moments and is filled with everything your looking for. This combination of talented authors brings so much to your heart and doesn't leave room for any confusion about what this anthology represents. Love knows NO bounds, Love is blind to all negativity and most of all Just Let Love Live! I don't thinkni can pick only one of these stories I loved better because all of them hit the point. The bonds in all these stories are strong due to only one thing and that's because of the Love they feel for each other. I can't stress enough that EVERYONE needs to read these anthologies and open up your minds and see through different lenses. Feel what these characters are going through and put yourself into their worlds. Everyone deserves Love no matter what, Love is strong that anything!
We most definitely need more anthologies like this in our lives!
I'm just reading this Anthology in between other books and will update as I finish each one.
Veiled Truths by A.M. Kusi ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one had quite a few shocks in it for only 18 chapters. I'm pretty sure this would be fascinating & thrilling full length book.
Waxing Poetic by Sarah Robinson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For a very short story this had quite the punch to it. I would definitely be down to read a full length story about Demetrius and Nicole's back stories and the journey that led them to friendship and then to more.
