If everyone hates you, everyone has a reason… When crime boss, Fletcher Blackburn, is gunned down in his own home, DCI Erica Cooper’s blood runs cold. The Blackburns aren’t the sort to wait for the courts to hand out justice, and with fingers being pointed at a business partner and a rival gang, it isn’t long before the violence escalates. To prevent a gang war, Cooper must solve this case as quickly as possible. She knows the key to the case lies with those closest to Fletcher, but the Blackburns don’t trust the police. A trophy wife, a brother in prison, a merciless son, a spoiled princess, a bookish accountant, and a power-hungry nephew. One of them knows the truth. None of them will open up. DS Jack ‘Tennessee’ Daniel thinks most murders are rooted in sex and money but forensic pathologist, Margot Swanson, thinks there’s more to this murder than first appears. Still traumatised from the events of last spring, Cooper must keep one eye on the crime families of the north and one eye on her own. Can she get to the bottom of this before all of Newcastle is burned to the ground? An unputdownable thriller set in the stunning Northumbrian countryside.
I'm absolutely loving the DCI Cooper books. I love that they are set in the local area. They are a really easy read and once you start them you find it hard to put them down. I can't wait to read the next one
I would give this more if it wasn't for the errors
A new proof reader and/or editor is needed. The spelling mistakes and continuity errors spoilt what was otherwise a good read. To spell a character's name one way and then another within two sentences, it was frustrating. Also I like stories to be geographically correct and being from the North East I knew when this was not. Maybe I'm just nitpicking! Very reminiscent of LJ Ross.
I found this author by chance, downloaded the first Erica Cooper book and was immediately engrossed. So I've read the first 3 and am planning on reading number 4 very soon. Such good plots, and a bit of romance thrown in which I love. The only downside are the grammatical errors and wrong spellings, quite a lot, specially in book no 3. 4 stars instead of 5.
This book is an amazing book to read its got it all from start to finish it totally keeps you wanting more the plot the story and the ending is brilliant to.its a total must read for anyone who likes these kind of books? D.l.purkiss?
It was great being able to visualise all the places a I love in Gateshead but even if you don't know the area the detail gives you enough to see them and even though I'm dyslexic I can finish a book quickly as it varies you along with the characters.
Another excellent story by B.Baskerville in the DC I Cooper series. Lots of the usual characters and a very good storyline. What makes these stories even better is them being based in an region the I live in. Looking forward to reading more
I was unsure when I started reading the first DCI Cooper book. However after about the 3rd chapter I was hooked ... Roll the Dice is the best so far and I want to go straight on to the next one. Is she better than Ross? I don't know...
Loved this book. Really gritty characters and intriguing storyline. Plenty of great twists & a superb ending which I never saw coming! Can’t wait for the next DCI Cooper book.
Good follow on from the previous two. I liked the gang angle, and it was an interesting storyline. The multiple layers to it also made it a bit twisty and kept interest.
