Mourning Glory illuminates the causes and effects of cattle rustling amongst the North Western communities of Kenya. The author, Egara Kabaji, portrays how the frequent banditry raids have hurt individuals, families, communities and the entire region.
The story is good and it's nice to read about modern, rural Kenya and a less well known region. However, some issues with the writing, the American cbaracters speak like Kenyans which is jarring and some of the political writing comes from a different genre and does not fit with the rest of the book. It would have been better to expand the story of the family and incorporate the political in a more natural way.
