Just My (Blood) Type

Rate this book
A fiery caster, a brooding vampire, lust & laughter. A recipe for disaster… or a happily ever after?

All Diana wanted was for her Caster abilities to develop. That, and a nap, because apparently a summer spent sensation craving wasn’t conducive to a healthy sleep schedule.
Instead, she got a Vampire father, a Vampire half-brother, a new Vampire society with strange, tight-laced social norms, and Felix.
A tall, scary-hot blood source with a stick up his ass who was also—you guessed it—a Vampire.
One she absolutely shouldn’t be thinking about shirtless. Or wet. Or shirtless AND wet.
Oops.

Just My Blood Type is a slow-burn, new adult, friends-to-lovers, paranormal romance with mature themes.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I enjoyed the world building & the characters! Felix and Diana were giving!! I literally read the book in one sitting - I didn’t put it down once! I would recommend if you like paranormal romance - think shifters, vampires, casters - but also set in an urban setting! Characters are 18 but there is some adult content if you get what i’m putting down…. 🌶️ The ending also set up for more growth with the world building so i’m excited to read more!

I’ve been a huge fan of Honey Andrews since I picked up her first published book, Deaths Destiny.
Just My (Blood) Type, did not change that view at all. I still love her writing. There’s just something about Andrews writing that makes me miss being a teenager. Everything is so nostalgic.

Starting off, Felix (MMC) gives off stalker vibes but then I’m like, oh… it’s kind of hot. 😅😂

Andrews just knows how to write dominate men who are sexy while they claim what is theirs. It’s freaking hot and I’m here for all the snarls and baring of teeth.

I also love how whenever it came down to something, Diana’s (FMC) incentive to get her to do anything is napping.

Same, girl. 😴

“It’s always the quiet ones who’d blow your back out if you were brave enough to give it to them.”

That quote killed me. 🤌🏻 literally I snickered throughout this book at the comedy and horny thoughts.

And then when Diana said that Felix’s smile is panty-melting 🫠 I think that’s going to be my new favorite thing to say.

It was very low drama and I kind of wish there was more, especially with why the vampires separated from the other supernaturals. It’s very focused on their relationship which is fine because this is a romance.

I am glad though that the books will be continued with different characters so maybe we’ll get more drama and history now that the supernaturals are mingling once again.

The spice in this book is HOT but I wouldn’t put it on the higher scale of spice just because I also base the level off of how kinky the sex gets and how often. It is a slow burn so you get more of it towards the ending and they are detailed and will turn you on. 🥵

Again, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read whatever else Andrews will bless us with.

Brothers Best Friend. Forced Proximity. Slow Burn. Paranormal
This is a new adult book, which I normally do not read. I chose to read it because of the author. I have read everything by Honey Andrews and plan to keep it that way. She did not disappoint me with this book.
Diana is about to be 18 and still has not come into her Castor abilities. While she watches all her friends learn about their abilities, she feels empty. Her life abruptly changes when she moves in with her Vampire dad, Vampire half-brother, and a Vampire named Felix. Can she adjust to the Vampire Society and will her Castor powers ever develop?
The dual POV that Honey Andrews uses in her books makes for an amazing reading experience. The plot and character development are both amazing. While there are spicy scenes in this book, it is not the spiciest thing she has written. I did read the book in one day.
At times, I wanted to shake my head at some of the miscommunication between Diana and Felix, but I can understand where it came from in the storyline. They are both young and grew up in very different cultures.

First of all, the writing in this book is exquisite! The descriptive nature of this book made Diana and Felix almost tangible characters, able to leap off a page at any moment.

Diana and Felix have a slow burning romance but boy does the heat turn to an inferno when switched on!! The dial POVs helped to better understand the tensions between vampires and other supernaturals. Felix was perplexed by Diana’s behavior in the beginning because it was so different from the vampire culture he grew up in. At the same time Diana had trouble understanding why Felix was so uptight.

Overall I enjoyed this book greatly. I didn’t always love the miscommunication between the two main characters but it is also worth knowing their miscommunication came from differences in their upbringing. I loved how the two of them slowly grew into each other seeing as they are quite young in the book. I can’t wait to see if we will see more of them in the future.

This book wasn't that great. The writing lagged considerably, the characters were plastic, and the plot has been overused.

You really need to find the momentum to push your story forward because after the first couple chapters, I was just flipping through because I wanted to see if it got any better. (It didn't.)

Uh, what else? It felt like it was written by a teen for a teen and I'm not in that demographic.

I absolutely LOVED this book. The Grumpy/Sunshine was everything I needed, and the lax, silly older brother was icing on the cake.

Honey did a wonderful job of creating lead characters you can really love, without sacrificing character development and growth.

I sincerely hope there are more books coming for this most wonderful world, and for Diana and Felix.

10/10 would recommend

I loved the message this book gave! Felix with his “touch her and die” vibes and Diana with her “don’t take crap from anyone” vibes. This book is giving ya romance vibes except for chapter 25 where the 🌶️ comes in. I would give it a 2 on the spice scale. This book is the first in its series, so I am definitely intrigued to see what more this series will deliver. It was a good introductory to a series book but I need more drama, more spice, & more action.

I loved this book. I has everything I love in a book like:
-Friends to lovers
-Friend’s friend
-Vampires, Shifters, and Casters

This is a slow burn supernatural romance. I’m not a huge fan of slow burn romances, but this book did a great job with it. What I didn’t like was Felix stalking Diana in the beginning of the book. The book does get better for me while reading.

The way I ran to read this book after finishing the author’s debut novel was astounding. I am so glad I found Honey and her work. I love the quality of her writing, the depth and emotion she gives her characters, and the unique worlds she is building. Diana and Felix were both great and I loved the pace of their relationship. Maybe we can get big brother’s story next!

This is the most enjoyable paranormal romance I’ve read so far. It was very well thought out. The supernatural elements really worked with the story. The story was very engaging and I kept turning the pages for more. It’s a slow burn but when the heat turns on it is h o t. Im excited to see where Honey goes with this series!

Fun read! I would say this skews about YA to NA. It's a light read but enjoyable.

Medium to fast pacing.

On Ku.

The romance is good and we get about 2 spicy scenes (I could use more but that's me).

A lot of the issues I have with the book (dear God people talk yo each other BEFORE you explode) boil down to they're young adults and since there will be another book I look forward to seeing that character development.

Minor spoiler:

Also, yes Felix! You go to therapy! Love to see it! I don't ever read male authors because I am not interested in the male gaze and you can tell a woman wrote this when Felix immediately was like yes I'll go to therapy.

Friends to lovers, brothers friend, slow burn, and vampires, shifters, and casters… oh my! This was the a wonderful read. While I was frustrated at times with the miscommunication between the characters it played into the overall story line well. It was a good read would definitely recommend.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. However, I would read anything Honey writes, and would never hesitate to support her in anyway I can.
