CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.
This makes me so mad. We had to wait HOW MANY volumes for Kaito to make a move? How many times did he say that he was waiting for Sakura to make a specific card before he could do the thing? And then he just decides to steal the OG mirror card? Is this for real? This hurts my brain.
How does this happen so late in the game? Honest to goodness I'm never reading another CLAMP creation after this series.

Aside from some tidbits in the first chapter, the story continues to move at a glacial pace. It's cute, but there's only so many pages of characters fretting and asking the same questions that I can bear. Can we please get to the point?
I love that Momo-chan is watching all this unfold like it’s her favorite drama series and she’s mad that her favorite OTP is still having issues to work through, like an exasperated parent.
Quickly losing my interest, I think my love of the original characters keeps me coming back but there's less and less story in each volume and this one didn't even make much sense to me..
3 hopes for an older Sakura and Syaoran starting their lives together out of 5 it's never gonna happens
Sorry for the detailed spoilers all; I literally have to do this so that I can reread it when I get my hands on the next book to help me have some recall of what’s going on with this spectacularly convoluted plot.
After a giant magical flower has appeared between Akiho and Sakura trapping Sakura within it, Momo reveals herself and during their conversation then shifts into her true form. She’s supposedly a protector of Akiho’s book but says her soul wasn’t split. (So does this mean she has both moon and sun powers?? And I can’t remember which book but for some reason I thought her true form was some kind of cool-looking dragon? Am I crazy here?)
Anyway…Kaito feels Momo using her powers and interrupts their conversation then turns back time (again 🙄) to right after Akiho passed out and Sakura remembers nothing of the meeting with Momo. I guess Sakura also made a Time card at some point during the meeting, though we don’t even get to see her making the cards anymore. AND apparently Kaito stole the Sakura Mirror card at some point…did we see this?? And if he could do that all the time then what…hm, why…😵💫??? Reading these books is starting to make me feel like I’M losing time, I swear.
Akiho asks Kaito to go on a picnic with her and they run into Sakura and Li who are on a date so the pairs group up; much to Momo’s displeasure as she’s watching via a magical portal and drinking wine like it’s an episode of Downton Abbey or something. I could definitely relate to her irritation and perhaps I should start drinking wine while reading the rest of this series. 🍷
The group sets out their picnic and Li realizes he can’t do anything but smile; a result of a spell Kaito put on him. During the picnic the group sees Toya working as a groundskeeper (jobs, jobs, jobs) and he takes Kaito aside and tells him, “If you hurt my family, I’ll make you regret it.” (I do love Toya, he’s entertaining and endearing and he and Yuki get waaaay too little time in this series.) When Toya arrived, Sakura became aware of a familiar feeling and has been trying to place it, she follows Kaito and her brother and approaches after their conversation asking Kaito what Toya said to him, but he only answers mysteriously. (Being mysterious is not an excuse to have zero personality or character development; just sayin’.) When they return to the picnic Sakura notices Li seems to be in pain and Li, suddenly realizing the “just smile” spell is gone, announces to the whole group that Kaito can use magic and use the new clear cards too. Kaito stops time (aahaha-gain 🤦♀️) and is talking to Momo through the magic tv portal when Sakura, who’s apparently become immune to his time spell, addresses him from behind setting the stage for (hopefully) some kind of plot-moving-forward-action to happen in the next book. (And if it doesn’t I suppose I’ll be okay because like Momo, WINE.)
I’ll admit, I am not happy with what Clamp has chosen to do to Cardcaptor Sakura and all her people; matter of fact where ARE her people?!?! Tomoyo is a ghost of her former character. Toya and Yuki have small cameos, none of the school friends personalities play into the storyline they way they used to. We just have Akiho and Kaito…two of the most boring fucking characters that I’ve ever had to read this much about. The most remarkable thing about Akiho is that she’s basically a non-magical carbon copy of Sakura. And they make a point of bashing readers over the head with this obvious fact over and OVER again…ohmygosh, did you notice they both had braided their hair but on the opposite side because it’s like they’re looking in a mirror? Tee hee!! 😓 It’s so frustrating because I really do want enjoy this arc but it leaves me so little to get excited about. I haven’t watched the anime version yet and I honestly don’t know if I will. I intend to finish reading the series, but despite the still beautiful artwork, I don’t expect it to move up from disappointing.

Touya langsung memeringatkan Yuna agar jangan berani menyakiti Sakura.
Sakura menyadari senyum Syaoran terlihat aneh.
Argh!
I echo many of the reviewers here. The story is cute, the art is lovely, and it's nearly everything we've come to expect, but it seems like we're standing still with the same unanswered questions hanging over our heads for a few books now. Seeing Momo in her true form is cool, too, but there's no context for her laughs or vocal tones, so I'm not really sure how to interpret most of her dialogue. And then, just as it gets interesting, we're literally back to the beginning of the book. I get frustrated with stories where a character knows key plot points and withholds them from the reader. Here, we have multiple characters and multiple points holding information back. There are extra cute moments with Spinny and Kero, I wish we'd see more of Touya and Yue, and that ending holds some promise that the next volume will start moving forward again.
Ooooh, Momo's true form is very cool! (Reminds me a little bit of Yuuko from xxxHolic, especially when she was eating chocolate and drinking wine while watching things start to go to hell.) I was expecting a little more to happen between her and Sakura, but she set up a troubling idea: why would Sakura's father and brother (and Tomoyo) fail to recognize her? Is all of this to put Akiho in Sakura's place? To give Akiho the loving family she never had? Would that mean Sakura has to take Akiho's place instead?
It was soooo adorable to see Sakura and Syaoran on their date! (Oh, they did mention that they still can't touch each other, so I guess that hasn't been resolved. What a mean spell!) Kaito and Akiho showed up for the date too.
Toya has proved once again that he's the best brother ever. It was nice to see him since I feel like he's been missing/working for ages. (Watching him klak-klak the tongs in the background was so funny. Anyone with tongs is contractually obligated to snap them.)
Poor Mirror card is still stolen by Yuna D Kaito, Sakura has finally seen Kaito using magic. Kaito and Toya facing off was interesting to say the least. The awkward and painful date between Sakura, Syaoran, Yuna, and Akiho so weird. I can't wait to see what happens next, but if anything negative happens, I will truly be upset.
I just want everyone to have a happy ending, but I also don't want anyone sacrificing their magic, unless it's Kaito. Everyone else needs to be protected! I'm so glad I have 12, but also so stressed about what cliff hanger it will leave me off on until 13 comes out!!!!

Clamp sure knows how to keep a reader engaged and hook them at the end so they can't wait to begin the next volume. Now, this volume started out like another one where there was talk of the school play being Alice in Wonderland. I'm already sick of that in this story. However, they turned it around to focus on Syaoran and Sakura attempting to get closer and go on a date. Unfortunately, they can't touch yet as Syaoran is still under a spell. And Toya, oh, Toya! That was the perfect older brother thing to do. And wham! Cliffhanger! My jaw was dropped. Excellent read.
Finally! We’re getting some real progress in the overall story. Some long-awaited revelations and important conversations are finally happening. That said, I can’t believe Syaoran and Sakura still can’t even touch each other. And we got a date! …Which was, of course, completely ruined by other people. Classic. But honestly, it was such a huge relief when Syaoran finally shouted the truth about what Kaito was doing. Now let's see how they’re going to confront him. Also… full-on PTSD when Syaoran said he didn’t know who Sakura was.
While a few more insights were offered in this collection if issues, I was disappointed in the real image of Momo, the guardian of the magic book our "big bad" has been holding on to since before the series began. I loved everything else in this collection because the plot moved forward in meaningful way and Sakura is putting pieces together more quickly now.
Povera Sakura e povero Li. La storia rimane in sospeso. Vedremo...
I suppose I’ll always love Cardcaptor Sakura (well, mostly Yuki & Touya), but this series feels especially convoluted. I don’t know if it really is more so than the original, or if I’ve just changed. I’ll keep reading to the end, but I feel a little impatient with it.
It seems like we're hitting the end of the series and I'm seriously confused about what, exactly, is going to happen. Kaito seems to be in some deep denial. Also, I really hope we get some clarity about Touya's new powers as well as what, exactly, Yukito can do now.
- It feels like it's nearly the end, and I'm sad, but at the same time, I can't wait to have volume 12. - I wasn't prepared for Momo's transformation, I know the creatures have a humanoid form, but I was surprised by it.
