A camping trip turns into a search and rescue mission when investigator Josie Hunt’s adopted daughter goes missing. And as the only witness to her father’s murder, eight-year-old Everly is the killer’s next target. Now Josie has no choice but to accept help from her ex-boyfriend, wrongly accused fugitive Dane Haggerty, to stay alive. With threats closing in, can they outrun a killer who’ll stop at nothing to keep his crimes hidden?
New York Times Bestselling author, Connie Queen married her high-school sweetheart. Together they’ve raised eight children and are enjoying their grandchildren. As a child, Connie remembers her mom and sisters reading, but she preferred to be outside. It wasn't until later, she found the joy of being whisked away into another world. Today she resides in Texas with her husband, and Murphy, her Great Dane, where she’s working on her next suspense.
"How could Josie Hunt's dreams of being a mom go so wrong in only four months of parenthood?"
We've met Josie Hunt before but in this book, she finally gets her own story. What a story it turns out to be! She's now the adopted mom of 8-year-old Everly but a peaceful life doesn't appear to be in the cards. Someone is trying to harm her little girl and there are questions as to who or why. Josie needs help but is she willing to accept it from an ex-boyfriend who is now a fugitive from the law?
Wilderness Witness Survival is a total adrenaline rush, from the cover to the exciting introduction, and finally, to the unexpected conclusion. Danger is everywhere, Dane Haggerty is a wanted man, and Josie is a bundle of conflicting emotions! This page-turner is filled with chills, thrills, twists, and turns, but the epilogue makes it all worthwhile!
Author Connie Queen shares love, faith, and hope in this compelling second-chance story, I recommend Wilderness Witness Survival to fans of romantic Christian suspense!
I received a copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation for a positive review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read! The characters were great and the mystery coupled with a second chance romance for high school sweethearts made for a story, I completely devoured. Connie’s books are must reads for me!
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
Connie Queen's Wilderness Witness Survival is a real page-turner! It's got suspense, thrills, and a killer you'll never see coming. You've got to read it!
My thanks to the author/publisher for the ARC of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review, and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
I'm only a chapter or two into this book and ALREADY know I'm going to LOVE it! Need to know what happens to the characters next and the main character loves kids, even adopted one when she had no where else to go, so GOOD for my heart :)
It's just so difficult to find good books like THIS one anymore! Loved the heart, protectiveness and determination Josie had in the story for her daughter and eventually even for Dane. Wow to his character and how WELL WRITTEN he is! EVERY time he hid the scene made me smile or laugh, his heart was also tremendous and heroic in every aspect.
Even Everly is not written as a typical child and enjoyed her part in this story.
Highly recommend this one, only read about three books this year with Queen's story and so satisfied :)
The woods can be a dangerous place at night from the four legged kind of creature, as well as those with two legs. Investigator Josie Hunt has taken her adopted daughter, Everly, camping. When she is awakened by her barking dog, she realizes Everly is missing. Now a man with a knife to her throat is demanding Everly, which is when she realizes she is missing. She escapes and runs into the night looking for her daughter.
Dane Haggerty is Josie's ex-boyfriend. He is also a fugitive from law enforcement accused of a murder he swears he did not commit. She needs his help, but she feels compelled to turn him in.
The action amps up from that point forward as they run from flying bullets, an ornery bear and someone intent on killing an 8 year old girl. There is unlimited suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat as they are on the run from an unknown person or persons. This is a brilliant mystery, but it is also a story of redemption and being careful of judging someone too quickly. Both characters have a strength about them that is admirable. I fell in love with Everly. She had lost so much at such a young age and witnessed a terrible tragedy, but even at her age, she still thought of others more than herself.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Connie Queen has done it again! It was great to finally have Josie Hunt's story since you had heard of her in previous books with the Bring Home the Children Project team. Josie has taken her newly adopted daughter, Everly on hunting trip hoping they can bond, but little did she know this was going to turn into a search and rescue mission when Everly goes missing. As the only witness to her dad's murder, 8-year-old Everly is the killer's next target along with anyone else who gets in the killer's way of completing his mission to silence Everly. Josie will stop at nothing to stop the killer from hurting her daughter including accepting the help from her ex-boyfriend Dane Haggerty, who is once again a fugitive but this time he's on the run. The killer's threats are closing in, can they outrun a killer intent on silencing them all and who will stop at nothing to keep his crimes from coming to light. This was a suspenseful roller coaster ride all the way to the end! Great job Connie!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a positive review.
This was a short mystery and light on the romance.
This story is about a guy named Dane Haggerty. He is a wrongly accused fugitive. A woman named Josie Hunt is on a camping trip with her young adopted daughter. Her daughter goes missing in the woods. Josie goes to try and find her. Dane finds her and her dog hiding in a log because of a bear. Dane scares off the bear. Josie’s daughter is also being stalked by a guy that killed her father. Josie, her daughter and Dane are in the woods. Josie’s eight-year-old daughter is the killer’s next target because she witnessed her father’s murder. Josie has to accept help from Dane to stay alive.
I would have liked if the bear had been in the story more than it was. I also didn’t like all of the religious talk in the book. There wasn’t much romance in this book either. It was an okay mystery but I wanted more.
This Christian suspense romance starts off in the darkness. We have an adoptive mom, an 8-year-old, and a fugitive. This story weaves through the present and the past as our characters find their way to a second chance. Danger lurks from wildlife to the elements to nefarious fellows. How many mysteries are there? With murders having occurred in these cases, who is stalking them and what do they want?
I enjoyed the strong ties these characters have to their pasts and how that shapes them and colors their interactions and choices. This was a lovely read to curl up with. It had suspense and danger, but also faith and family. Another great read by Queen.
I received an arc of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Connie Queen is back with another action packed story of forgiveness, trust, and courage! I can't fathom the fear that would overtake anybody if their child went missing but Connie nailed it on the amount of faith it would take to not give up on keeping them safe. Highly recommend!
Wilderness Witness Survival is a well written romantic suspense. This book has an edge of your seat page turning plot. I definitely recommend this book.
This book's storyline was okay. I liked the action in this story. I liked the Christian ✝️ theme in this story. I liked Everly. I liked Dane's character. I didn't like Josie, she got on my nerves.
