Discover the remarkable life of Anne Frank... Anne Frank’s story is definitely a tragic one; every aspect of it is steeped in the tragedy of the Holocaust. But sadness is not the only thing that the account of Anne Frank’s life has to offer—it’s a powerful story about a girl who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what was right. She faced the worst that humanity has to offer and she did not let it corrupt her. Even the evil oppression of Hitler’s Nazi regime could never crush the indomitable spirit of Anne Frank. In this book, you will discover her life; this is her story.
Anne Frank lived a sad life, especially at the last four years of her life. Even though she was friendly, social, and a loving person, she was still born in a Jewish family and had to survive mostly though hiding.
The book explained Anne Frank's life along with giving a brief picture of Nazi Germany and their criminality. It explained about her life and her family, along with giving facts about Nazism.
I know it kind of seems dumb reading this book even after reading after diary. But the main reason I read it was to read more about her Jewish family and the Nazi oppression of the undesirables. And this book was up to my expectations. So, full five stars.
I still feel really sad for all the Jewish families who suffered under the Nazis.
This is a very short and straightforward biography of Anne Frank’s life. It includes a few of her journal excerpts, but focuses mainly on the events that lead to her death. It doesn’t sugar coat any of the events, but also, doesn’t give detailed descriptions about the horrors that occurred once the Frank family was arrested.
Before reading this book, I wasn’t aware of the tragic timeline of her family’s betrayal and arrest. Anne and her sister, Margot were months away from being freed at the time of their death. This is a very emotional read but not graphic for the subject.
I learned a lot from this short biography. Before reading this I did not know about Anne Frank's early life and her grade school experiences. The biography gives brief lines that Anne wrote in her diary, a brief account of the time she spent with her family in hiding, and a brief account what happened to Anne and her family members in the hands of the Germans in concentration camps. I can't imagine eight people living in such cramped quarters for two years, forced to remain very silent during the daytime hours and not even use the toilet. After reading this I had to sit quietly, feeling sick to my stomach for quite some time, thinking about hatred and those who sat silent during Hitler's rise.
I had visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam years ago and many people who are familiar with her story or have read “ The diary of a young girl,” are drawn to it. She documented her life in hiding in an Amsterdam attic during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
I found the book informative and easy to read. We get to know Anne Frank in happier times in Germany. Living in an Amsterdam attic could not have been easy as the residents had to maintain silence during daytime. They did try to have a little fun when it was dark.
Throughout the book there are passages from her diary and this gives us an insight into what was going on with her emotionally and in her everyday life. .
I don't think I'll ever get over my sadness for the Jews that were so terribly mistreated for years during WWII. It is so hard to imagine the oppression these poor people had to go through. Anne's diary gives us a glimpse behind the scenes. I pray that people will never have to go through such mistreatment ever again!
"Writing in a diary is a strange experience for someone like me. Not only because I've never written anything before, but also because it seems to me that later on neither I nor anyone else will be interested in the musings of a thirteen-year-old schoolgirl."—Anne Frank"

"...Eventually he(Otto Frank, Anne's father) would also utilize the diary as a way to tell the world just what his family and the Jewish people as a whole had suffered because of Hitler's horrible regime. First published in 1947, it was an immediate best seller. Otto always knew that his daughter's dream was to be a published author and was glad to at least posthumously help her fulfill that wish. Annelies Marie Frank may have perished in a Nazi concentration camp, but her story and legacy will live on—never to be forgotten."

o Like in all Holocaust books, the only thing to truly dislike is the unnecessary suffering and death caused by the extreme racism of Hitler. Alongside this dislike is the question that haunts you for the rest of your life why does all this has to happen? o But still, read this book and finish it; the lessons, realizations, and perspective you can gain from it and the training on empathy are vital. Invaluable. o And one of the things you should like if you should like anything in this book is Anne Frank herself. o Her spirit, maturity, and loveliness are undeserving of the final fate she received—the same with her sister, mother, and other relatives and Jewish friends. o I could only imagine the extreme unbearably regret Otto frank had once the bad news hit him. Surviving your children and spouse is one of the most painful emotional sufferings a human being could have. No wonder he clung to Anne Franks's diary like a lifeline and reason to live, and no wonder he aimed to publish it because he knew in his heart that her lovely little Anne wanted to be an author.
• What is in the book and the chapters?
o Each chapter has a lovely quote from Anne Frank, but the last two would be one of the more heartbreaking ones. o Each chapter is a well-summarized third personal view of each phase of her short-lived but inspiring life. o Even though it is short, it completely encapsulates everything about Anne Frank and her life.
• To whom would you recommend this book?
o People who are curious about Anne Frank and his significance in history and prevention of the Holocaust from happening again o People who read "Diary of a young girl" by Anne Frank want more in-depth detail of their environment and experiences from a third-person view. The way this biography is written is not boring or unemotional. There are useful insights and emotions here, but that didn't sacrifice the conciseness of storytelling. o Even those who haven't read the Diary of Anne Frank will find this book like a preparation for the beauty and heartaches you will experience reading her Diary. o I recommend this to people who have experienced house arrest or long lockdowns and live with others.
• Why did you choose this rating? o My review says it all.

Further comments:
• I finished reading this to have more context and better understand her whole life as I read her Diary. So once I read the "Diary of a young girl," I already have background knowledge because of this biography • Every time a Holocaust book leads to the memory of someone who has died, it all feels like I also died with them. Damn. So many deaths and sufferings. Just like when I finish the book "Mans search for meaning" by Viktor Frankl and "The Redhead of Auschwitz by Nechama Birnbaum. Everything is heartbreaking yet inspiring to the point that you want to do good and prevent any cruelty or hate from happening again.

The story of Anne Frank is familiar to me and has been for three score plus years and yet this book was a good memory refresher and reminder of the horrors of true Nazi behavior not what the radical left is trying to currently say it is. Not trying to be political but the comparison is ridiculous propaganda. I was reminded recently that MLK Jr. and Anne Frank were born the same year [let that sink in] and so was already interested in revisiting the history of this girl and her tragic life.
This book was a great insight to Anne Frank and her life and family. Although this is only a short read, it’s a great way to get the reader interested and keep it short and to the point.
This is a great starter book for anyone looking to get into history or as a starting point to learn more around Anne Frank’s story.
This tied a bow around the other books I’ve read about Anne Frank
Many books have been written about Anne Frank. The first one I ever read was “the diary of Anne Frank” that was published in 1947. Then just recently I read “The Betrayal of Anne Frank”, And, now having the opportunity to read this Hourly History, I feel that much more has become clearer foe me.
This was very informative. I've been a big fan of Anne Frank's for very many years and have read the book a few times and saw the play and movies. She was a very special young girl.
This book was more detailed than other's I've read, which made it more "REAL" to me.
This book is so heart touching. You are already in love with the person Ann Frank. This takes you into her life. Which really pulls on your heart strings, that such a young person can have such an impact on so many.
This concise Biography of the famous Anne Frank is an object lesson about bigotry unchecked and not taken seriously a portrait of a brave family at a dark hour in history
While the reading of the diary is inspiring, this book of the life is informative and helpful for the setting of the situation. It is also a reminder of how close the world is again to repeating these atrocities. Shame on those haters of humanity then and now!
If only there was a way that all the evil people that followed Hitler could be tortured the way that they tortured the people that they deemed not human
It's probably the sixth or seventh book I have read on the life of Anne Frank, and from each book I learn something new. This book tells us a lot about the life of different characters in the book and also the backstory.
Loved this so much history great books to teach kids with. Would recommend. Has so much history doesn’t really go into details but with the little it does it tells so much
Anne Frank's story should be required reading in all US high schools. The story should be told and retold so that people remember and never forget the horror that the Nazi's inflicted on the Jews.
A good but sad read. The horror of her world after Nazi occupation is clear and her diary a window into their lives. The end of their lives was too soon and so tragic. Good read as a companion to her actual diary.
I have known of this story since I was a young man , but had never had the opportunity to read of it . I was amazed of reading of her experiences and her tragic ending .
A good read but a sad reminder as to how things were for humanity in the 1930’s & 40’s in Germany as seen through the eyes of a 14 year old Jewish girl.
It's nice to see more of the story that aren't just based on the diary that was published. This was short giving basic information that some would never realize
