About the author

Mallory Cywinski is an author of literary horror and weird girl fiction. Her writing is evocative, emotionally strange, and dark, though she loves a hard-won happy ending.

Her years as a bookseller and time directing a small indie press, producing her own titles—writing, editing, and cover design included—strengthened her knowledge of the publishing industry before returning full-time to her own writing. She writes for the reader who always gravitates toward the strange corners of the bookstore.

Mallory is a mom of 2, lives near Philadelphia, PA, (Go Phillies!), and has a soft spot for well-made mushroom pizza.

This anthology is a perfect read as we approach Halloween, or if you keep Fall in your heart all year round, like I do. Some stories really did make me shudder, and I'll never look at massage parlors the same way again. Definitely a nice read for those looking to add to their spooky shelves!!

Y'all, I'm a sucker for horror short stories and this anthology did not disappoint! These short stories were so good and I literally had goosebumps with some of them. So well written and so atmospheric. There are 27 short stories and even though they were all great, 10 really stood out to me. I could have just kept on reading a full length novel on them. But I had two favorites and they were both about creepy ass paintings. They were so creepy and I couldn't get enough! And I love that they did author bios at the end of this Book featuring everyone who contributed.

Do I have a story in this anthology? Yes. Do I love it? Of course. But I also absolutely LOVED getting scared by the other authors I am lucky to share the page with.

As a person who doesn't typically go in for paying to get scared (I do love a good haunted attraction during October) I dove into this book like my life depended on it. Here are some examples without spoilers of some of the stories that spooked me good. My cat understood the assignment while I was reading Daisy Daisy. I may never look at certain art the same. Never eat the yellow snow. I can't see you or hear you. Sometimes the life of the writer isn't always the best dream to have.

If you love to be spooked this is the anthology for you. After all spooky season is here and the Dark Village is waiting for you.
