The Daily Grind #3

The Daily Grind 3: A Slice-of-Life LitRPG

Rate this book
An IT-worker-turned-interdimensional-adventurer contends with deadly dungeons, relationship woes, and office ennui in the third book of this madcap series.

You might think a month away from fighting sentient cubical supplies in a threatening alt-reality office would mean a break for James Lyle. But . . . you’d be wrong. Even though James has taken a beat from adventuring into the dungeon hidden within the stairwell of his workplace, he’s been dealing with plenty of stress-inducing issues, from raising a recently corporeal infomorph to navigating his newly minted relationship with his best friends, fighting his own depression, and wrestling with the moral implications of his burgeoning powers.

Meanwhile, James, Anesh, and Alanna are searching for other dungeons to explore—to worrying results. While they’ve been seeking out more of the magical zones, it seems those very places have been looking for them in return. Now it’s time for James and his crew to go back into the office dungeon, no matter the danger. Because it appears the latest world they’ve stumbled upon is starting to fight back—and they might be the only ones standing between humanity and some rather gruesome deaths.

The brilliant, hilarious, and moving blend of slice of life, role-playing games, progression fantasy, world-building, and office snark continues with the unputdownable third entry in the Daily Grind series.

The third volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than four million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Ick
The more the “relationship” develops. The more ick

The book spent so much time on the great James and his harem that I got tired of reading.

I love a great litrpg. I’ll let you know if I find one. I must go o. To book four. Shit

more interesting than fun
Ive certainly enjoyed stories that involve lots of resource management and things like setting up departments and such.

it doesn't deal with the office dungeon very much, and I just miss it.

love the orange orb effect from Anesh. that is super cool and seeing the pros and cons of a common daydream is neat.

the ending is also a bit of a downer. it makes everything up til now seem cute and cuddly. very interesting. The Sewer is just not fun.

still really enjoying the series and looking forward to more!

The third entry in the Daily Grind series does not disappoint. James, Alanna, and Anesh(s) continue their exploration of the office themed dungeon located in the building in which James works, this time with the help of a much larger group. Many of those who were rescued from the dungeon have chosen to help, basically forming a dungeon delving guild. Outside of their dungeon, they work to help the survivors, and they begin to search for other magical areas in the world. Theirs can't be the only one, right?

I enjoyed this installment. A large portion of the novel takes place outside the dungeon. The magical world has expanded, providing new lore and some interesting environments. I still adore the friendship/relationship between the main characters, and you get a bit more character growth for several others in this entry as well. The poly romance is different from much of what I've read before, but it's still sweet and based in friendship. It's clear that there is still much more story to be told here, and I will be on the lookout for what comes next.

I received a free copy of this book via Podium Team and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Secret is out?

Things are getting hairy. Paper men outside of the dungeon. Other dungeons popping up or have already been
Our group is growing in strength and understanding how to Leverage their dungeons. An interesting take on lit RPG it's nice to see one that doesn't feature the stats and skills numbers so much but rather has the group growing in incremental and sometimes bizarre ways

Disappointing

This book continues the trend of the plot slowing down. Lots of long conversations, constant point of view changes and philosophical rambling all combine to ruin this story for me. The universe and magic are incredible. I’m honestly torn on if I should read the next one

Great

This series is one of the greatest reads of my life and I can safely say that my only regret is that I can only experience it for the first time once

Still very good, although in some ways I'm starting to feel like the story has run its course, at least for me.
