Solcrue have increased their search parties, threatening the Relic Cyber Titans' and humans' rebel hideout. Cyborg teams strain to recover the escaping female servants of the enemy as they crash-land on planet Ellipsis, but the time to find a better path to freedom nears. They need a way off of the planet, a way to find their Rogue brothers and their last ship in space.ChaosI used to be a mad devil on the battlefield, the Trio of Terror, until the Solcrue captured and bound me with the most painful of chains, the kind that links to every metal rib and will tear me apart if I try to remove it. Now I am stuck in a hell I cannot escape, bound by a straight-jacket of tines. Every thought echoes three times in my mind. My hands blur with every movement. We are one, but we are not meant to stay this way for so long. I am burning up inside with the need to be free. It is a struggle to stay calm. When unit Redline returns my lost chain of hydramidium, the one the creators gave me, it eases my burden. Still, it is not enough. When the Solcrue attack the human survivors who forage for those in our rebel camp, I'm tasked out on a defense mission. My building frustration explodes in a dangerous but effective maneuver. All but one of the humans make it back to camp. Now I am separated from the group with a woman who, in one glance, shuts off the chaos within me. One touch from her has me reconsidering what I need. I was created to serve... And when I save her from the attack, I finally understand why. Only she has the power to tame the Trio of Terror. CelesteAll I want is to survive, to help my sisters of Solcrue servitude, and to bring peace to human and Titan kinds. But the Solcrue are ruthless and have no qualms about attacking my humble group as we search for berries and nuts to feed our growing camp of survivors. They play dirty. I try to fight back, but the pain from my head injury makes me weak. Thankfully, the Cyber Titans arrive just in time to defend us. But they don't all need to fight. One Titan is a blur as he barrels through the charging Solcrue, hitting with the power of three men. His fists and boots move as if there are three of each in some sort of time warp. His brothers shout at him to retreat, but the unit named Chaos doesn't listen. I am too slow and lag behind the other women. A blast from a Solcrue weapon punches a giant hole in the ground, cutting off my path. I have nowhere to hide and no escape until Chaos slams into me and carries me away from the battle. Now we must find a new way back to our kinds, underground. But our journey exposes the most vulnerable parts of us both, and I discover something I want more than safety and refuge--him. To have him, all of him, I must find a way for them to be free. A daring infiltration of a Solcrue camp is what it will take for me to acquire what Chaos needs. To do so, I have to shut down the over-protective beast first. And when I get inside the camp, I have to stay focused and not be distracted by mentions of ships and supplies that my friends desperately need. I have always followed rules. I've never asked for anything. I've been a good girl. I know Chaos would burn the world for me. To save him, I have to be very bad. ***A fast-paced, one-love, HEA steamy romance with intimacy, violence, and cursing.
Chaos is the fourth sci-fi book in the Hunted Relics series, where humans are the lower class and Titans are used and abused by a race that takes what it wants and spits everything else out. Resistance is the only way to bring them to their knees, and that means uniting machines and humans. If only they could keep everyone safe.
Beneath their tough exterior lies a big-hearted man more human than machine, who would do anything to keep her safe. I genuinely enjoyed it.
This was such a relief after the previous. As good as the earlier, even better in some areas.
The Sci Fi aspects of the story are so enthralling, with the world building and story arc containing all the details and depth you could want. There’s also enough intrigue and suspense to keep you on the edge, and reading as fast as possible.
The romance here was also an improvement, detailing a more relatable journey, showing us how and when they fall in love, not just telling us with no reason or believability.
The only areas that didn’t hold up, is in the mains backstories. Both characters have excruciating histories, and both recent or current. Yet neither show any real or recognisable trauma. Psychologically, they are simply too well and whole. It throws off the plausibility.
So many authors make this mistake, but this is even more blatant than usual. For me at least, it occasionally threw me out of the story, waiting for, and expecting certain reactions and moments, only to have them glaringly absent.
The second, is completely a personal preference, and no error on the author’s behalf. It was a little intensely bleak at times for me. Totally appropriate, even sweet and melancholily beautiful.
It’s just, I’d gotten used to a more action related series, so it threw me. I just would have preferred a little less broody introspection (regardless of how story appropriate), and a little more action based personal revelations.
But as I said, it was totally appropriate to the current story premise.
Still, was completely engrossed at all times, zooming along, not wanting to put it down. Can’t wait to start B6.
My absolute biggest issue, is the all too real fear that I’m gonna catch up to the author soon, and have to wait for the next to be published…
Celeste, the female human lead, has survived captivity as a sex slave by being obliging and keeping to herself, partially to protect her secrets. Now rescued by cyborgs, she finds that she’s got nanites embedded from an accident that occurred during her rescue and she appears to be an acquiring some cyborg functionality.
Chaos, the male cyborg lead, has the capacity to split into three copies of himself but their enemies imprisoned him on a spiked metal corset that will kill him if he splits. Living with constant pain, Chaos is determined to look after as many of his brothers and the humans as he can before he dies.
But something about Celeste catches his eye, and he finds himself focused on keeping her safe. Others have found a mate but he’s sure he doesn’t deserve one…
This novella is dual POV, well written, and an interesting addition to this sci fi cyborg series. I enjoyed the significant character development, with Celeste finding her own agency, capacity, and bravery, and Chaos finding the capacity to focus on more than his mission. I enjoyed the overarching plot development and the relationship development. I’m enjoying this series and the way each story ends with a happy outcome but definitely more still to be told.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Celeste has been a slave on a Solcure ship for years. When all of the female slaves manage to escape in pods to Ellipsis, she is severely injured. When she wakes up it seems there have been some changes to her body, thanks to some Cybertitan blood getting into her system. What that enables her to do remains to be seen.
Chaos has been tortured for years by a devise that the Solcrue put on him so he couldn’t change his form to fight them. He is just waiting for the day he dies in his battle to save his brothers. He will welcome it when his death comes.
But when he and Celeste get separated from the others, he is determined to make his way to a communication tower and take it out, which will give the Titans a huge advantage against the Solcure. But he doesn’t take into account for the emotions that emerge as he spends time with Celeste. How can he welcome death when that will leave her unprotected and alone?
Its touching how these two that have been so mistreated by the Solcure and find such peace with each other. This is a fast-paced book filled with romance and action! Great addition to the series.
Both of these main characters were super interesting. He's trapped inside a device that keeps him from being able to do his special ability - split into three versions of himself. And she has a prosthetic and a mysterious augmentation.
The world building is moving forward as the Titans and humans fight for their freedom. I liked this paragraph pointing out the contradictory nature of prejudice,
““You don’t deserve life. You’re a machine.”
I kick his gun aside. “Your ship AI often comes close to our capabilities. Your ability to contradict your own supreme ideals with manifestations built to compensate for your insecurities baffles me, but is also why I have no trouble killing your hypocritical kind.””
I liked the addition of a Solcrue character to the story.
Chaos is the 4th book in the CyberTitans series. It can absolutely be read as a standalone, you will understand and follow the storyline without difficulty, but if you read the previous books you will better understand all of the intricate facets of the world Sybur has built, the differences of the different species/races and why they interact with each other in certain ways.
The story is written as a dual point of view from both the male and female main characters. Both characters have a common enemy, share a tortured past, and must evolve as characters to overcome their limitations. There's plenty of action and fight scenes, as well as 18+ love scenes and a HEA. No cliffhanger, but definitely more to come. If you enjoy cyborg/alien romances, I recommend this one!
Celeste and Chaos have something powerful in common, instead of giving up when the going has gotten rough or painful they have done what it takes to survive. When life throws them together they discover someone who not only might understand them, but who they might be able to help, an intoxicating feeling when you have spent a few years feeling powerless.
I was intrigued by Chaos in previous stories, just as Fury was given some interesting moments here, and really enjoyed seeing Chaos move center stage. He truly showed the Cyber Titans ability to adapt, and offers a tremendous reminder that no one skill or aspect of our being need define what we are capable of.
So much chaos in so many ways. I really like this series. The Titans and their unique abilities are such an interesting concept. Poor CHAOS is in agony just waiting for death. Celeste finally has freedom even though she is injured and changed in her escape. She is the key to his Salvation. Together they will help Titans and humans survive another day. This book has lots of heat and plenty of action. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Now I'm anxiously waiting for the next book in the series as I was anxiously waiting for this one to be released. If you like cyborg books than I highly recommend you check this book and all the other books in this series out as they are so good.
There are cliffhangers and then there is just ending mid scene. Im invested in the series and read at a pace that matches that of the story, so the ending felt like pulling the handbrake while going 100kmph. Physically jarring and it's taken some of the enjoyment I'd been experiencing. Honestly it wouldn't have needed much to ease the pace, and round things out to set up a smooth transition for the next story. I will keep reading, and I hope they end better here on out.
loved so much Chaosl The CyberTitans lead their rebellion against the cruel Solcrue.Celeste's pod crashes in Ellipsis and the humans join them.Chaos and Celeste are separated from the others and on the run. Action packed, heart breaking moments, a good plot and storyline, very good world building and settings, multifaceted and captivating characters, steamy scenes and romance! And this cyborg has a very special feature.....I highly recomend
While each book has a Happy Ending For Now, the story of the CyberTitans continues as they attempt to defeat the Solcrue and to find their mates and remaining Titans. These stories are filled with drama, various feels, and romance the CyberTitans way. All Titans are different, with different abilities, but they all love fiercely once they find the One. Enjoy!
I think I want a Titan of my own! Maybe not one like Chaos but then again that splitting in three could make for some interesting times. I like that after every thing Celeste went through she was able to embrace a future where she had choices. I liked how she stepped out of her comfort zone to help him. It was a very interesting read.
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline is well written and filled with action and adventure. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Celeste has had an adjustment to her hand. And then a Titan gives her an adjustment on her face and right eye. Chaos gabs her during an attack when they get separated from the others. They have quite the adventure. Enjoy
Cyborgs in space! Fighting to stay free and gather together. Then one, then another finds their One. But the nasty scientists are still working, scheming. 🥰🥵😍
Chaos book 5 in the Hunted Relics series is my favorite so far! A trio of Chaos, yum! I recommend starting from book 1 Amp and read in order since the characters, events and overall series plot continue from book to book.
Chaos is a wonderful addition to the series and the adventures and dangers are only getting more intense. The antagonists are getting more threatening and the Rebellion is getting more determined as they collect more CyberTitans and humans along the way. There are even some unexpected new friends and I cannot wait to explore these new relationships.
I am immediately moving on the next book; Fury, in this wonderfully creative and entertaining series!
Sybur Phyre has such a talent for wring sci-fi romance. Her characters come alive. The setting is detailed. The action is supreme. Celeste has been a sex slave to the bad guys. She and several other human females escape and join the Titans in fighting the enemy. Her dad fitted her with a prosthetic arm that is nearly undetectable and now her eye has bonded to Titan nanos giving her amazing abilities. Chaos was once captured by the enemy and his torso encased in a frame which doesn’t allow his three forms to shift any more. He and Celeste join together to fight and try to get back to the rest of the rebel forces and fall in love on the way! What a wonderful story!!!
