We still have no explanation as to how this Poly-Syn exploded world-wide all in the same time frame and in fact, it is only mentioned in passing. I did kind of like Doctor Sofia and the glimpse of a small city hospital trying to do what they can in less than ideal circumstances. The relationship of Scout and Everett is a high point and I did kind of like what the Neutral Territory people are trying to accomplish. These guys still seem to lurch from one questionable choice to another. The epitome of lurching and questionable choices still goes to Jean/Holly group. How do you intend to find your daughter in the state of Florida when you have a hard time getting to Delaware. And I did try to warn you about Penny; did not not hear my shouting at the book? I just can't see how Jean, Holly and Jacob could ever connect to each other.
I liked the plot and premise of the story in Book 1. Book 2 was ok but the characters are idiots who are unbelievably lucky. At the end of the world, Who goes from a fairly unpopulated part of Maine to New York City and Long Island to tell strangers their family member is dead while they are trying to get to south Florida to save their 13 yr old daughter? Said 13 yr old is performing amazing feats of survival and also is unbelievably lucky. Guns always have enough bullets. No one runs out of food. Even whiskey is always available. The bad guys are always inept. I'm finished. These people wouldn't last a week!
Following the Fuller family as they face danger from much more than the fires that burn everywhere was such an experience. They don’t give up the search to reunite them all. I found myself speaking up and warning them and then realising characters can’t hear me. They are that real, outstanding. The world around them is akin to the fires of the underworld. A brilliant third novel!
The 3rd book , Burn, still continues to be exciting as we follow our survivors and their dramas as they try to reunite with each other. The main characters are still very likeable and realistic and the story keeps you engrossed the whole way through. Looking forward to more.
The danger carries on. Will the group be able to find some safety from all the explosions and collapses. They continue in their search. Gripping, suspenseful to keep you reading.
