I kept waiting for an emotional response in the characters, and sadly it never happened. I mean if I just found out , I think I would have had a stronger reaction than Ella did. Yes, yes, she’s a demon, but still! In that case she should have been enraged at the very least.

This wasn’t a favorite, but if Luka ever gets a book let me know 😉

I just realized that I never fully reviewed this. And I probably should since I've actually read it twice already. But I digress.

It's no secret that I love this author and this series. And I really, really enjoyed this book. Viper was very alpha and I liked Ella too. I will admit, however, that I seem to be destined to forever to chase the Knox/Harper dragon with this series. Nothing compares to them. And I also feel like there wasn't as much longing and chemistry as there should have been between Viper and Ella given their history. With Viper being a fallen archangel of his magnitude, I just feel like everything should have been a little...more all around.

Also, I think this was a missed opportunity to start a new spinoff series featuring the Black Saints. Which I hope Wright does. If so, can't wait!

This is the second to worst book in this series (Levi’s book, Reaper, is the worst). It's a PNR about Viper (the fallen angel / MC club president, who we first met in Raini and Maddox's book Fallen), and Ella (Levi’s friend who has been a background character for a while). The story has this author’s usual formula: they have to deal with outside threats as they get closer together, and there are fun side characters.

A meh book in this series is still a breezy, enjoyable read. I love this series. It isn’t anything deep or amazing or mind-blowing, but these books are my comfort reads, and palate-cleansers between other books. Suzanne Wright’s books are all a little samey. But, I don’t mind. It’s nice to have a reliable book where you know what to expect, it delivers that experience, and you know it will be a good time.

A 3 star book in this series is still fun. But, this should have been book 1 in a spinoff series, not book 10 in the main series. It felt different – the usual cast of characters was hardly in it. It was especially weird that Raini and Maddox weren’t in it, since they would have felt the most natural to include. We hear about Ella getting a tattoo from Raini, but that happens “offscreen.” Why didn’t we see that scene? That would have been interesting for the 2 of them to bond over having a blood-drinking fallen angel mate! This tried to round out the cast with a bunch of new characters. Some of them were intriguing, like Ella’s crime lord anchor, Luka (who seems like he’ll be a future hero). But, throwing a bunch of new characters at us doesn’t capture that same “The gang is back together!” feeling that previous books had. So, this book felt like it was missing something. Whenever Ella's mom and aunt said something amusing, it just made me be like, "I miss Jolene, or Harper and her girls. Stop trying to give us new people who are pale imitations of them. Just give us them!"

Ella and Viper’s connection also didn’t feel as sizzling as past couples. I like that the couples in this series banter and snark at each other, and they didn’t do that as much. They spent a lot of the story apart, and when they were together, it felt like this story was telling us about their relationship, more than showing us. Viper’s club brothers were fun, but there were too many of them to keep track of. And, since we just recently got a bunch of similar fun new guys in Larkin and Teague's book, Hunted, this just felt like an imitation of that, but even less distinctive, since there were more of these guys.

It was interesting to learn more about angels in this world. But that mostly came at the end, it should have been more present in the story throughout. The majority of the book was spent on Viper fighting strix (vampire-like creatures). So, that got repetitive, and was less interesting than the mystery/ action plots in past books. There were also details that this book never circled back to. Like,.

I’m not sorry I read this book. This series is always a good time - even the dud books in it. And I’ll continue to read it, and continue to be excited about new releases. But this book could have been better. There were a lot of missed opportunities.

This was intriguing, sensual and so good.

I admit, I have a soft spot a mile wide for this series so it’s no wonder that I loved Ella’s story which I was waiting since she was introduced.

Viper was one of those mysterious characters that popped up suddenly one day. Through all the meaningful but intense glance he kept giving Ella throughout the previous books certainly made me curious about them more. What I didn’t expect was to love him this much.

God, that man was obsessed with capital O. I don’t want to give away anything about their beginning but I assure you, it’s one hell of a ride.

Mia and Dice added more to the story BUT my favs Lark and Teague’s tiny cameo was what made me crack up. God, I adore them! And some new characters were also introduced and Ella’s anchor Luka has all my attention. His demon, Legion was such a menacing and interesting demon. I hope it’s his book next.

Around 60% one of my favourite trope was revealed and I enjoyed it so much. My one tiny complaint about this book was I wanted that trope to be a little more explored or this couple’s story to be a duet. They certainly had that much juice.

Otherwise this one was so good and I highly recommend it.

—Soulmates, reincarnation.
—Fallen angel x demon
—MC club.
— Found family.
—Action, Passion and obsession.
—could be read as standalone but I highly recommend reading in order.

I received an advance review copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

These two have been an obsession of mine since the second we saw them interact in Hunted.
I have to say, I couldn't put it down, and I'm so thankful I got to read this as an ARC because it was a Suzanne Wright book, if you can't tell by how many times I reread her books, I'm slightly consumed with her stories and writing style.

Viper and Ella, Ella, and Viper; I found their whole story so alluring and entertaining I didn't put it down, I read this book in a day (it was 5 AM when I ended). Their chemistry, their banter, the back and forth, the companionship, the friendships... gosh everything had me hooked.
I hadn't read a past-lives trope before, but this one is now the standard. Viper IS the book boyfriend of the month. And my sweet-but-dangerous Ella, the woman that you are, the perfect FMC, such an icon standing up to who you know is a dangerous being, that's my girl.

Suzanne, this is for you, please, I beg you, write 30+ books, every character, but especially my man Luka. I will read them all, everything you write.
This book was so fun, action-packed, and sexy that I will reread it for years.

Ella is the love of Viper’s life only she doesn’t remember that or him being hers. You see before Ella was Ella… she was someone else. Due to the betrayal of those close to Viper, both lives were changed forever. After decades of searching for his mate, Viper found her and made the decision he had been wanting to make the moment he saw her the first time. She may not look the same nor remember him but she is still the only one that makes him feel. Viper lost her once and he would do everything to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I was curious about these two after the little snippet in the last book. I have been eagerly waiting to get my hands on this story and when I did, I literally started break dancing (unsuccessfully). I never thought this was going to be the storyline. Though with Viper being who he was… I should have guessed. Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised. I devoured it. I even went back for seconds. I was rooting for them from the first page. And I instantly disliked anyone that tried get in their way.

I love a man that communicates! Viper communication skills were top tier. When he was pissed, you knew it. When he is interested in you🤭 he made sure you knew it with both his actions and words. I mean sure the guy was hiding things but he was going reveal them to her and he did. The guy had a plan to get his girl and keep her forever this time. Unfortunately he also had enemies who would love to see him anything but happy.

No surprise that I adored both characters. I love a strong fmc and a mmc that bends over backwards to ensure his girl is never in danger. The tension and attraction between these two could burn the pages of the book. It was *chefkiss*. Loved how possessive/protective/obsessive he was of her. Loved that Viper wasn’t controlling. Let her do her thing and just had her back.

I found myself smiling a lot as I read viper. Like they were cute! Also it made me happy to see previous main characters from this series appear in Viper🥹

Like most of books in this series the last 10% of the book had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The Big Bang before the happily ever after.

Absolutely adore Suzanne’s writing style. Easy to read, easy to get into, great pace and just entertaining to read.

I loved the romance, the banter between friends, the little dramas, the attraction between mcs, action/fighting scene (got to read about viper and his brothers in action), loved the fact that this was paranormal romance but also a biker romance. I also love getting introduced to new characters (Luca🤭) because that just means a potential new book.

I will end this review by saying that although I finished this master piece, I am left with so many questions. Questions I need answers to like right now. Will Mia get a book? because I feel like her story is unfinished. How long do I have to wait to get Luca’s book? I need to know who the next book will be about! So like 🤙🏽😉 & let me know x

The earlier books in this series are spectacular re-reads, this one not so much. I struggled with the first half of the book, found myself bored at times and kept on putting it down. It's been a while since a book took me 6 days to read, the second half picked up but not enough for me to raise my rating. There was a lot of repetition that dragged on and on yet stuff that should've happened on page didn't. What happened with Prophet? Neta? Joe? Why wasn't more said about her tattoo? Judging by Viper's reaction it was a pretty significant thing that was totally glossed over and side-swiped.

For me, this book just didn't fit in with the rest of the series, it's as if it should've been the start of its own spin-off series with the fallen angels MC.

I keep hoping for Knox and Harper level books, and I was disappointed again 🤷‍♀️

Viper is book 10 in the Dark in You series and its Viper and Ella's story. I love this series and couldn't wait to get my hands on this book but unfortunately it wasn't as good for me as I expected. I loved the concept of the book but found Viper and Ella just ok. I did love all the new characters that were introduced especially Luka, and I can't wait for his book. Overall, not a favorite but I do look forward to more.

Samael. THE SAMAEL goes by the name Viper. VIPER!
I can’t accept this.

I will admit it was better than the last one - hunted - but I stand by the fact that I don’t believe this should be a part of the “dark in you” series.

This had a completely different feel to it altogether.
Both the main characters had extremely loose connections to everyone from the original group, even those who came in later books such as the hellhorses and The Fallen.
The people we have read about in all the other books were probably in ten pages combined through this book.

If I look at this as a standalone and forget about the fact that it was a part of a series, it was good in some ways.
I loved the beginning and was hooked from the start - royally pissed off that they killed her - but writing what inspires emotion can only ever be a good thing.

I liked their romance. He definitely gave more to their love than she did, which I wish was different.
I didn’t like the time jump where they had suddenly been together for a few weeks, but they were still not sure whether or not it was an actual relationship or not.

I loved Ella’s anchor bond with Luca in the beginning of the book, then came to resent it, only to like it, and then be left completely unsatisfied.
He was so overprotective and sweet in the beginning. Then he was so unsupportive when he found out she was pregnant. Then they sort of half way figured it out. Then we never heard about it again.
They never had a real heart to heart talk.
We didn’t see him realise how much it hurt her when he wasn’t supportive from the get go.

The plot was very unclear to me.
I didn’t understand the point behind the notes. How they were foolish threats in the beginning, and suddenly it was a death threat. And there was no real plan to figure the notes out.

There were no grand attacks on Ella in particular that truly gave her character some action.
This really surprised me because this author is nothing if not repetitive in her writing, and in literally every book she writes the female main character is attacked in some way around halfway through the book.
I felt like Ella just sailed through it.

And it was repetitive in other ways. The characters are all the same as everyone she ever writes.
It doesn’t really bother me, or I wouldn’t read the books, but I do wish they would show some goddamn EMOTION other than UNDERSTANDING!
Like every time Ella found out something about Viper.
She didn’t have to have a full on tantrum or anything.
I mean calm down it wasn’t that deep.
But she could have at least said she needed a minute and walked off to think.

And I swear, every female main character she writes does this.
They hear about something awful someone wants to do to them, or that has been kept from them, and they are just like “oh, well, is the dinner served yet? I’m hungry” as if nothing ever fazes them and gives them pause, and it is so unrealistic.

It was like she couldn’t be separated from her sister for the life of her I swear.
Half of this book was honestly devoted to her sister’s love story, and anchor bond troubles, and we didn’t even get a conclusion to either.
Does that mean Mia gets her own book, or is this series over, or what is happening??

I just want it said that I did love the premise of the book. With her being reincarnated, and him searching for her, and being so obsessed with her and devoted to her, and her accepting every part of his curse.
Not to mention that this curse actually had real consequences.
Drinking blood seems terrible - not so terrible that I understood the great apprehension in sharing it with Ella - but since he has no choice and can get into a blood rage, it’s terrible.
But what really struck me was the whole having wings and not being able to fly, thing, and that everything around him dies or inspires chaos and rage. That seems truly terrible.

If this book had been the first in a spinoff I would have been so eager to see the rest of everyone’s stories such as Mia, Jesper, Ghost, and even Luka.
They all felt like characters that would have interesting stories, and like characters that would actually get their own book. But how many books can actually be in a series?
Isn’t this the tenth?

Viper has been searching for his mate for a long time and now that he has her in sights there’s nothing he won’t do to finally claim what’s his.

“The things I could do to you … Will do to you … ” He caught her lower lip between both of his and gave it a tug. “By the time this night is over, you’re gonna know one thing.” “What’s that?” “You’ll know what it is to feel owned.”

Suzanne Wright never fails me. I’ll be honest though, I was hoping Viper would be as all consuming as Knox and Harper. Unfortunately, I built Viper up in my head as an uber alpha that’s domineering and possessive like Knox and he didn’t quite get there. But hey he was still hot AF.

Ella was wonderful but I wanted her to be a bigger picture in terms of the final battle. I felt like she got lost in the background a bit and I’m used to Wright’s heroines being front and center. I also wanted their inner entities to come out to play more because it is part of who they are and how their relationships function. But these two were everything in the end and I loved their journey.

“I’ll claim everything that you are,” he warned. “You’ll never get any of it back.”

“I won’t ever want it back. It’s all already yours anyway.”

Despite some personal preferences because I always compare to Knox, this story was nonetheless wonderful and I look forward to Luka. I NEED Luka and his crazy and I’m hoping he is Knox level alpha male. If you’re a fan of this world, you’ll like this one too.

This book is just another example of why I absolutely love this author. She knows exactly how to pull you into the story, keep your interest. I could not put this book down. Viper and Ella have to be my favorite characters since Knox and Harper in this series. Demons, angels, pretty much every supernatural creature you can think of and some you have never heard of all feature in some way in her book series. So if you’re looking for supernatural ✔️ spicy 🥵 ✔️ great character development ✔️ in ways you’ve never encountered before this book and author is for you.

I mentioned this in the earlier book where we encountered angels, but it feels like there's just too much about this whole other class of entities for them to be a one-off book in the series. While it was nice that we got to expand on that info in this book, it still felt like there's way more about celestials that I want to understand. I wish Wright spun these celestial books into a series instead of a book or 2 in her demon series.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. This one was interesting, because the relationship between the mains spans more than one lifetime. But otherwise, it is a typical book for this author - dominant, possessive MMC and feisty, badass FMC. I know that people think her books are overly formulaic, but it's a formula that works for me as long as I don't read too many in a row. :)

I enjoyed this more for being back in the demon world that SW created than for the actual book.

The romance had an interesting path, but it felt very bland to me overall. I felt more like I was thrown into their story rather than invited in, if that makes sense. The MCs were rather vague themselves. Ella had red hair and "magick," and Viper had intense blue eyes and is a fallen archangel. That's the most I got from them; their voices weren't unique or even distinguishable from other characters.

As for side characters, I liked Ella's sister until she started getting too much page time and it almost felt like I was reading two separate romances at once, due to her drama with her own anchor and then getting involved with Dice (Viper's club VP). I enjoyed Viper's "brothers," especially Jester. And I'm glad that I stuck with this into the epilogue, purely because of the brief interaction with Lou (Lucifer), who is my favorite character in this whole series.

***Spoilers below***

I absolutely HATED that the heroine got pregnant. That stupid baby ruined the whole vibe of the book. I felt punched in the face with how obvious it was that the baby was a plot device.

Oh dear. This could be fantastic, but the execution was pretty lackluster. I can see the vision. Plus, the whole soul reincarnation thing is my thing. Heck, any type of reincarnation trope is my thing. If only the whole exposition about their past lives were properly introduced or told, it would've set this book right for me.

My only issue with this book is that I would've preferred a more linear timeline or dual timeline between Ella's past life and her current life. With how the story went, it skipped the more interesting timeline (the part where these two MCs actually fell in love with each other and the why) and jumped into this new lifetime where these two had already have an established connection. I want to see that initial spark between them, get into Viper's head when he fell for Everleigh and feel the pain of them when they were cruelly ripped apart. Instead, we only got a summary of these important scenes. So, that was unfortunate.

Anyway, like I said, I can see the vision and it could be so much better than it is right now.

REVIEW

I dug it.

I went into to this having read all of Wright's books, so I know the story here would be a little deeper than surface level, but not emotionally charged. The charm of it actually lies in there somewhere—because the entities inside all the characters in the series are generally psychopaths, so there is no bombastic emotion. Still, there is enough substance to keep you locked on! There is banter, funny lines, passion, possessiveness, HEAT, and the plot itself.

Viper was a good one for me. It hit in all the right places. It could have had more yearning and chemistry between the leads given their past, but the tension between them was an inferno. I enjoyed exploring these two.

The little cameos were the best, especially towards the end with Lou. That tickled my soft spot.

Though this one can be safely read as a standalone, highly recommend reading the series in order to get the hype.

4 stars. Fair warning… this is going to be an odd review, because it might sound like I didn’t enjoy this book, when in fact I did. The Dark In You series is one of my favorite PNR series of all time. I’m all for Wright to write as many books as possible in this universe. But we’ve reached the point where the main characters barely know the OG’s and it seems like Wright is just randomly introducing us to more and more individuals to keep this sucker going. To me, Viper felt the like first book in what should be a spin-off series, set in the Dark In You universe. And maybe it will be? But it should be said that the characters in this book are in the friend of a friend zone. We’ve gotten snippets of Ella and Viper in previous books, but she’s more of an acquaintance of Knox and Harper’s, or… a friend of a friend, if you will. And because of that, we got almost no screen time with Knox, Harper, or any of the other OGs. And I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t bum me out, because it did. The found family vibes are a big reason why I loved this series. And although we totally got found family vibes with Viper, it was a family of people I didn’t know. So it’s gonna take me a hot minute to feel invested.

So, all of that aside, how did I feel about Viper? In addition to all of the new characters (of which there were many), she also introduced us to some new types of beings— celestials. I loved the fallen angel element and I thought it was interesting for Wright to combine the pnr and motorcycle club trope. If I’m honest, the MC aspect of this fell a little short. They were more a brotherhood of guys who happened to ride motorcycles rather than being a motorcycle club in the typical sense that we read in romance books, which is fine. I didn’t read this for the MC aspect, I read it for the PNR. We got introduced to A LOT of characters in the club, and unfortunately they all kind of blended together. It feels like Wright has been writing more and more quirky characters, who don’t necessarily have personalities apart from their one weird quirk. That’s the characters in the club. So if Wright does decide to give them all stories, I think more will need to be done to make me invested in any of these guys (I literally can’t even tell you one of their names). I like Ella a lot. I like her sister, and I loved their relationship. Viper was a great male lead. He was alpha but not bossy. And he let Ella come to him on her own terms rather than try to manipulate or cajole her into getting what he wanted.

I love Wright’s storytelling and I’ve read almost all of her books. And as I stated above, I did enjoy this one and I do want more in this world. So I guess I’m just curious to see where Wright goes with this in the future. Do I recommend? Look, if you’re at the point where you’re ready to read Viper, you’re already committed to this series given that it’s book 10. So if you loved books 1-9, then yes, give this a read. If you’ve never read her before, Viper might also be an interesting place to start since, as I said, it feels like the start of something new rather than the continuation of the Dark in You series. So yes, I do recommend.

I was given an arc of this book via Netgalley

I really loved this book, I’m a massive fan of this author and this was another great book in the Dark in you series. We were introduced to Viper and Ella in previous books and I was pleased that they were given their own book and story, the story was unique but fit in nicely with the rest of the series. New characters were introduced and some of my favourites from previous books made an appearance.

Cant wait until another book is released!

I just finished Viper by Suzanne Wright.

Viper is the story of fallen angel Viper and demon Ella, I have been waiting to learn more about Viper since we first met him in another couples book. I really enjoyed Suzanne’s spin on fallen angel’s and the 7 deadly sins I found it very unique. Viper is part of the Dark in You universe but it can be read as standalone.

I hope this isn’t the last we get in this universe!

Initially I used to enjoy this author's books. They were really good in terms of the uniqueness of characters and even though the plot lines were SAME in every book, the love stories were different. But now, I have read her shifter romances and this dark world books and they are ALL. THE. SAME. All the main characters are the cliche ALPHA MALE FEMALE BLA BLAH. Their personalities are also copy pastes in all the books and there is NO fucking chemistry or love story! It's so difficult to even LIKE the main characters because they are so clichés and cringe! I really prayed this book would be different but it's just the same. Am even not able to finish her books nowadays because they are so boring.
Really disappointed.

Viper, president of the Black Saints MC, has been watching and waiting for Ella. He lost her once and will do everything in his power to protect her. There is more to Viper than meets the eye though and Ella has no memory of who Viper was to her in another lifetime. A threat though against Ella has Viper making his move on Ella sooner than expected, but not all are happy with Ella being entangled with the rumored Archangel.

Another wonderful read in this series. What I appreciate is each book gets better, the characters are unique and when you finish the book you want more.

I have to say that I have really enjoyed this series and I was thrilled to see a new book available. I was surprised that we are already to book 10 in this series, but when I started thinking about it, I realized that it makes sense because we already have such an extremely well built world with some amazing characters - and so many awesome couples already paired up. Then I thought, 10 books didn't feel like enough :)

We are introduced to Ella who happens to be an Encantor (which is a particular type of demon). We also learn that this is not Ella's first life and while she doesn't remember it, she actually had a past life that was tragically cut short.

We then get to meet Viper. Viper is a fallen archangel who has been searching for Ella for many, many years. Because, yes, you got it - those two were fated to be together. Unfortunately, not everyone was on board with this and hence, Ella's short past life.

This time though, Viper is not going to let anything happen to her. He has built his life and made his preparations, now he only has to find the way to tell her......everything.

This was another great book in the series. I enjoyed it and I especially enjoyed the narration by Cat Doucette who has been the voice of the series since the beginning. She does an excellent job.

One thing I just have to mention. Uncle Luc was hilarious. He totally stole the show whenever he was on page. Truly hysterical.

So, I'm biased when it comes to Suzanne Wright, and I'll read pretty much anything she wants to write. I will say that I really did enjoy this one. I've been anticipating Viper and Ella's book since Hunted. I was particularly interested in Viper's interesting background and Ella was his perfect match. They definitely had some great chemistry, and both of them were pretty badass. Also I found the reincarnation bit to be interesting.

I think that also was kinda the part that I wish was expanded on more. It was pretty insta-love for a Suzanne Wright book, not that I really care that much since I'm a sucker for insta-love. But there could have been more of a slow realization on Ella's part.

I am excited to see what Wright is planning to do with the other angel boys. Hopefully we'll get to see more of Viper and Ella through the other Black Saints' stories. Also, Luka is a curious character-sketchy, criminally guy with not just one, but THREE demons? Gotta be interesting...

I didn't like this one as much as the previous books in the series. However, i loved how much Viper fought for Ella. His love and obsession was intense. Liked Ella enough but she was just..blah majority of the time. No real connection. Loved the interactions with both their Entities - so detached and cold but i found their seriousness hilarious. Viper's Brothers in Black Saints are a Hoot! The Banter between all the characters was hella fun.

Really love this series so was looking forward to reading this book. The FMC is interesting to read about and I like how the MMC was so possessive of her. I loved that the fated mates trope was implemented and that it helped with the chemistry between the main couple.

I always love to see cameos from characters from previous books in the series, plus the new side characters that were introduced were also interesting.
