I'm Kira Fairwood, rogue kitsune and couch-surfer extraordinaire. Three months after disowning my pack, I'm still trying to find a way home.
Then a way home finds me. All I have to do is follow the advice of a murderer, trespass on an enemy alpha's territory, and nab a stranger who shares my fox heritage.
Thom thinks it's a terrible idea, but he puts his not-quite-pack on the line to help anyway. Now, if I fail, I'll drag my new friends down with me.
What could possibly go wrong?
Rogue Moon is the second book in a "fast-paced" and "intriguing" new series that begins with Full Moon Saloon.
Aimee Easterling is a USA Today Bestselling author writing on the boundary between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. She specializes in spunky shifters and invites you to dive into her werewolf world in the Wolf Rampant trilogy, the spinoff Bloodling serial, and her new Alpha Underground series.
Studying biology and working as a naturalist have both informed Aimee's writing, but she's quite willing to let reality slide in favor of a good story. When not writing, she loves to read and always keeps books by Robin McKinley, Patricia Briggs, and Elizabeth Peters on her shelf. You can learn more at www.aimeeeasterling.com.
KIRA IS STILL TRIPPING OVER HER HEART STRINGS AS HER ADVENTURE GETS WILDER AND WILDER ❣️🦊🐺 If you're looking to get Kira Fairwood Book 2, I hope you've had the fun of following Kira and the gang through the MOON MARKED TRILOGY ( Kira & her sister Mai's first adventures) and FULL MOON SALOON, (K.F. Book 1) because while several characters from these four books have more to reveal to you, they would like you to get to know them first. I gobbled up book 1 again, and book 2, both since early this morning (Yes I listen at a fast speed) and have loved every moment. SO much so that while I received the audio review copy of ROGUE MOON, as soon as I finished it, I dashed over to the Kindle Store to see if the Ebook for MOON DUEL (Book 3) was available for purchase, because I can't wait to read the conclusion, and probably would have stayed up to read it until I conked out. This series is really That good. Kira's being tugged in so many directions at once. Because of the love she has for her family, she's still trying to make the world a safe place for her niece by proving that Kitsune are good allies. She's in a new relationship with Thom and trying to help the people in his pack, and also trying to keep someone from her past safe. If that's not enough, other people are trying to control her for their own gain. She's so big hearted, and so courageous, but she can't seem to please everyone at once. If you like to listen to books, I highly recommend the narrater for this series, Yu-Li Alice Shen. She is absolutely great. I've been a fan of Patricia Briggs, C.E. Murphy, and Ilona Andrews for many years and I think Aimee Easterling deserves her place right up there "on the top shelf" with them as the best in Urban Fantasy.
Rogue Moon, Aimee Easterling's second novel in her Kira Fairwood series, is a wonderful shifter tale. The storyline is fast-paced and well written, filled with kitsune magic, werewolves, danger, murder, intrigue, subterfuge, pack politics and quirky romance. Kira's story is definitely unique, a kitsune fox shifter living both around humans and werewolves, while trying desperately to hang on to her own heritage. The characters are well developed and engaging. Thom is a strong alpha werewolf who will do anything necessary to protect Kira, even from herself. Overall, this is a good, strong story, showcasing well the differences between honor and duty and love and obsession. I am definitely looking forward to reading more to see where Kira's adventures lead.
Rogue Moon is the second book in Kira’s story. Kira’s still living in Gate City, but she’s mostly floating listlessly and has yet to find her place in the community. She’s still hoping to find a way home to her sister Mai and that’s kept her from putting down roots in Gate City with Thom and his pack. As such, she impulsively accepts a suspicious assignment in hopes that it will be her path home to her family. Of course, the too-good-to-be-true offer doesn’t work out as expected and instead puts Kira right in the cross hairs of the hostile neighboring Alpha. The events snowball from there, family goes missing and Kira ends up in a very unpleasant situation.
One thing I really liked about this story is Kira’s personal growth. It takes a lot for her to finally truly value what she’s spent months running from and I am hopeful she fully finds her home in the next book. With a little more growth, she has a lot of potential to be a good leader and mentor. I’m also really happy with where her relationship is with Thom at the end of the book and look forward to where that goes in the next book as well. It was also nice to see Thom embracing his role as alpha to his pack of misfits. This was an enjoyable story, with characters that are well written, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Reminder, this is a spin off series from Easterling's Moon Marked Series, which is utterly delightful. This series can probably be read alone, but do yourself a favor and read Moon Marked first as Kira is Mai’s younger sister from Moon Marked.
Kira Fairwood, a kitsune fox shifter, has broken from her sister's pack and is now living in childhood friend, Charlie's spare room. Things are heating up between Kira and Thom, the Alpha of the Gate City pack.
Kira's old boss Scarlet shows up, and asks her to track down Charlie's sister's husband's brother, Kaito, the recently awakened male Kitsune. He has been trespassing on Reed pack territory every full moon and it's causing problems. Hank, one of Thom's pack members, is acting out of character. More odd ball things occur and Kira she makes not one, but two oaths that bind her in a way that will make her life a living hell. She will never learn at this rate.
FYI, I really dislike storylines where the MC is controlled by another and made to act against their will. It's akin to rape, IMO and distasteful to me personally. Because of that, this book is not my cup of tea and while I finished and will likely finish the series, this will never be a reread for me and drops to 3 stars.
It’s been three months since Kira severed her bond with her sister, and the pack she considers family. Then her old boss shows up with a dangerous offer. All she has to do is find a man who shares her nature and turn him over who shares her nature and turn him over. Unfortunately, that stranger is in the territory of an enemy pack. Thom is alpha of the territory she currently lives in and since he can’t talk her out of trespassing, he is determined that he and his pack help her with her mission. Kira soon realizes that she is in danger from more than enemy alphas. I love these characters, and Kira is a favorite. She’s snarky, sometimes funny, and usually pretty reckless when it comes to her own safety especially when she feels she’s doing the right thing. All of the other characters are well written and unique, too. Magic, shifters, action, and some surprising twists in the plot make this a must-read book. I love it!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Kira Fairwood loves her family, cares for the well-being of her friends, has a powerful attraction to Thom, and tries her best to protect everyone, but constantly makes decisions without thinking through the consequences. Very different is this young Kitsune who is constantly carried away by her emotions and does not put her head to think. Interesting how the plot unfolds, and we see all that Kira and Thom must do to survive the threats that hang over them. This Kira is a fire lit at full throttle! Something that catches my attention is the theme of the Kitsune and the interesting way in which the author elaborates on it with Kaito and Ito. Fast-paced plot development with suspense, intrigue, trickery, mystery, magic, violence, a cunning and vile enemy, lots of emotions at play, some funny scenes, drama everywhere, romance and passion. I don't plan on missing out on how Kira is going to get out of the situation where she finds herself honor-bound. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I enjoyed.
In the second book of the series, Kira is still avoiding what she feels for Thom and he is letting her. Well, except for on the full moon where she inexplicably spends her nights trying to climb him like a tree. What the heck is with that? Her best friend, Charlie, asks her to please find another place to live so that she can invite her new girlfriend over for cuddles and kisses (hopefully), her old boss shows up asking her to track down Charlie's sister's husband's brother, Kaito, who keeps trespassing on Reed pack territory on a full moon, and one of Thom's pack, Hank, is acting out of character. Then she makes not one, but two oaths that are going to come back to bite her. She will never learn.
I spent a lot of time yelling, "No, don't do it," at Kira. It didn't help. Be advised that there is more to come (slang for "cliffhanger"). I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
I am always ambivalent when I read this author's work. One the one hand, she produces excellent stories. One the other hand, she writes YA...and I do not like to read such. In this case, the story was quite good, but the MC was a twenty-something that didn't seem capable of making any smart choices or to learn from her previous poor decisions. That and the underlying relationship angst are aspects of YA that really put me off. Additionally, the MC puts herself in a position to experience some serious emotional abuse. Even though I wasn't crazy about the YA MC, I still was invested enough that the ever-increasing brutality was distressing. So, I desperately wanted to know how the story went, but I couldn't stand following Kira's path.
Audiobook: I was as entertained by book two as I was by the first book in this series. I thought Kira was still jumping into situations without stopping to think about all the consequences, but that was part of her personality and part of her charm. I felt for Kira as some of her actions were life changing. I liked that Thom supported Kira even though he didn't always agree with her. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I enjoyed Yu-Li Alice Shen's narration as her performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook through Spotify. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
This is the second book, and I think I liked it better than the first one. Kira is back and trying to keep everyone safe. But she eventually gets into a situation where she isn’t going to get out so easily. Kira is so headstrong that sometimes I want to yell at her to stop because this trait gets her in trouble. The events in this one are shocking, and sometimes I felt like I was going to get whiplash at all the things that were happening. This is a great addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see how Kira is going to get out of the spot she put herself in. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
PART TWO OF THE FOXY LITTLE SISTERS KITSUNE STORY. at the ending of book one I was wondering if Tom was going to play a more romantic role in Kira's future so I was distressed to see the trap she apparently fell into and what an all round disaster that had the potential to be. Then a missing child kitsune and the explanation of male kitsune's roles in past relationships, interesting and action packed story for sure. Recommended.
Thom is ready to end a generational curse and claim his mate. Kira is ready to give up her old life at Fairwood. Then, a male fox shifter shows up on a rival Alpha's land and Kira is drawn into the hunt to find him.
An awful fire, a worse oath, and Kira finds herself heir to an a**hole Alpha and unable to even be near Thom. Great story.
Aimee always writes great stories about were-creatures. Kira is a were-fox - there aren't many around and the wolves generally don't like the foxes. Kira is accepted because of her relationship with Thom, the alpha.
Kira goes off half cocked most of the time, reacting to everything on an emotional level. She doesn't think things through, but her romance with Thom the Alpha is simmering. I love the characters and the story is good. I would highly recommend it.
Learning more about the kitsune magic helps make the addition very interesting. Kids still seems to act a bit foolishly, but she's maturing slowly and starting to balance her mistakes. Her relationship with Thom has grown and they're good for each other.
I have enjoyed every book I've read by Aimee. Kira's books are no different. I'm really looking forward to the 3rd book. Fantastic, enjoyable, and engrossing!!
I liked the narrator and the story but not having banter and romance makes every book boring for me. So, sadly, for that reason I'm not going to continue with this series.
If you like UF with a faster moving plot, I would recommend this.
Aimee Easterling reliably delivers fun shifter stories with exciting plots. This is the second book in the Kira Fairwood series, and although it could stand alone, I recommend reading the books in order. Grab your bowl of popcorn because this book is suspenseful, action-filled fun. It features kitsune, one of my favorite paranormal creatures (and one that doesn't get very much attention), as well as Ms. Easterling's delightful take on wolf shifters and pack dynamics.
This relatively quick read effortlessly captured and held my interest. It was fast-paced with an exciting, action-filled plot and several mysteries that presented some unexpected twists as our heroine Kira struggles to find a missing member of her extended family and a missing teenage girl while navigating wolf pack politics and trying to protect a mysterious source of kitsune magic.
I really like the characters in this series. Kira can be impulsive, and her tendency to jump to conclusions and take actions without thinking things through often gets her into trouble, but that’s all part of the fun. Her love interest, Thom, is a cinnamon roll hero, and I love watching him learn how to be a proper alpha and work with Kira to protect those they love.
This story works well in audio. I enjoyed the narration by Yu-Li Alice Shen. Her performance was well paced and easy to understand, and I liked how she conveyed personality and emotions with her character voices.
I volunteered to review an advanced reader copy of this ebook and the audiobook provided to me by the author. If you enjoy contemporary fantasy or paranormal mystery/suspense with a slow-burn romance, give this series a try.
