'Immortal Bastard' is the fourth book in Lydia Michaels' "The Order of Vampires" series and trust me when I say mine wasn't the only heartbeat that could visibly be seen thumping at my neck. What an extraordinary storyline! Delilah is a struggling tattoo artist. Not from a lack of talent but a lack of customers due to the economy. She had just finished with four clients that miraculously kept her from being evicted and had gone out to have a solo celebration when she met Christian in a bar. She is the epitome of a modern, free-spirited woman with a bohemian lifestyle, multi-colored hair, and an array of tattoos covering her body. He is artistically sculpted with an Old-World charm and manner of speech which he presents with an air of dominance and confidence. What started as an immediate attraction turned into a living nightmare. Nothing is going as predicted for Christian and Delilah cannot wrap her brain around being kidnapped and finding herself on a farm with, to her, an Amish lunatic. The battles are fierce, the personalities are strong, and no one can move forward until both parties make a compromise. This storyline is intense and I felt like I was in a corner watching all this play out. Once their hard-won compromise had been met these two brought a heat to the storyline I didn't see coming. So many previous questions were answered and yet new ones took their place. The entire premise of this series is completely new to me and I'm vested in what's gone on and sitting on the edge of my seat to find out what's coming.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Lydia manages to breathe life into vampires where it didn't exist before!

In this next installment of The Order of Vampires series, we're met with Christian and his new mate. When Christian is called, he goes out to search for his mate (Delilah) and the story starts when he meets up with her in a bar. The beginning of the story had me wondering how Delilah would ever agree to the vampire life style like this. The previous books in the series each have a different arc about life as a vampire and you'll enjoy finding even more Easter eggs within the story from the previous characters.
I went into this story blind, without reading the books description, or re-reading my previous reviews. I didn't need to - which is very refreshing as an avid reader. Throughout the novel, the author weaves in memories and snippets from the first sets of books that you would need to know in order to understand different intricacies that are happening. Instead of saying "who is that" or "what did they do again" I was immediately given the answer as I was reading, which is glorious. It has to be one of the best ways I've seen previously read material woven into a text. It made for an easy and very enjoyable read. This book gave us a feeling of how the 1st book in the series was: exciting, suspensful, and hot!

The long-awaited return to the Order of the Vampires series and Immortal Bastard has been worth the wait as the Christian, the elder with a stick up his butt finds his bonded mate in the unlikely character of Delilah, a thoroughly modern woman, tatted up, with piercings above and below the panty line and a mouth that would put a sailor to shame…... oh, and she’s a vegetarian. Like Delilah was really going to accept her new life in a misogynistic Amish vampire sect without fighting back! I loved this story so much mainly down to the wicked dialogue between this pair. Poor Christian was so bemused. Here he was gifting her with immortality and not understanding why she wasn’t jumping for joy especially when it means no running hot water and even worse no reality TV! He just didn’t want to acknowledge that she might have a point. I’d have felt sorry for him if he wasn’t such an unlikeable man, but he does start to grow on me as the story progresses. The only reason I’m not giving this book five stars is I got angry at women being treated as being less than the men. And then I got mad at the women especially those from the outside world being so accepting of this.

This book does end on several cliffhangers but not for the hero and heroine and I am desperately hoping the worm will turn in this series and the women will rebel hopefully being led by a certain witch who deserves her revenge after what she has been through. I’ve also got my suspicions about Isaiah and Cybil and can’t wait to find out if I’m right.

Cliffhanger? HEA for main characters but cliff for overall story arc

Do I recommend it? ✔️

Tropes: dark paranormal romance, vampires, fated mates, thriller, opposites attract, virgin hero, forced proximity, touch her and die

There is nothing more sacred than the immortal vow of bonded mates, but when Delilah Starling is transitioned against her will and taken captive by a savagely beautiful immortal, she pledges to fight his dominant rule to her last breath. Christian Schrock, an elder of The Order, hunted and possessively claimed his mortal mate as was his right. His irrevocable actions, however, sparked challenges he never anticipated. Subjected to live under the patriarchal reign of an ancient society, Delilah battles the oppressive traditions forcing her to submit to a life she did not choose and a man she does not love. Christian must convince her that she belongs to him, but the unruly female refuses to see past the brutal betrayal that founded their relationship.

Ever since I stumbled across this series with the first book, I have become a dedicated fan. Putting vampires and the Amish in the same world was truly unique. Christian was always the strict rule follower, and I couldn't wait to see who Lydia gave him as a fated mate. Delilah was his opposite in every way. By choosing to bring her into his life in the way he did, he definitely had a tough road ahead. Their interactions had me laughing my butt off one minute to getting really hot the next. With every new book in this series, the unique plot remains and gets better and better. I love that the author continues to surprise me. This book can be read as a standalone, but it is enjoyed so much more if read in order from book one, Original Sin. I highly recommend this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

*Edited to add after listening to the audiobook. With every new book in this series, I look forward to the narration. Lucina Gainey's narration is always top notch and a highlight added to the already original story plot. Christian and Delilah were brought to life with incredible talent and had me thoroughly loving my second read through. I can’t wait for what comes next!

Delilah is a tattoo artist with her own little shop. Times are tough and she had to let go her two employees. Sitting in a bar drinking, she meets a dark, handsome man. She takes him back to her shop and they have sex. But something strange happens and she sees blood all over herself and passes out.

Christian is a very old immortal and has found his true mate. If he doesn't claim her, he will die. They live on blood like vampires but are not vampires. So he kidnaps Delilah and takes her back to the farm. They are Amish immortals and live like the Amish. He has turned her without her permission.

Will Delilah be able to live the simple life on the farm? Will she ever forgive Christian for kidnapping her?

I'll be honest I almost didn't finish this book. I read some other reviews and thought this isn't a book I'll like but once I got started it was hard to put down. There is a little cliffhanger. Bloody. Sex. Christian believes because she's his mate that it was alright for him to take her and that just bothered me a little.

Lydia Michaels has done it again!! Immortal Bastard is book 4 in The Order of Vampires series and if you have not read it yet, I'm telling you you're missing out!
With each book, the intensity increases, but things just went to a whole new level!

I love Christian and Delilah together. Her filthy mouth and hardass attitude are just what the stick-in-the-mud Elder needs to shake his world up...and the heat between these two will melt your undergarments off!!

This book had me on edge from start to finish. It's one of those stories where you know something big is going to happen and it's usually when you least expect it...but I have to say (without giving anything away), I KNEW there was something fishy about YOU KNOW WHO!! I just didn't think it would be who he turned out to be! You'll know what I'm talking about when you read it!

The only thing I'm not happy about is the fact that I have to WAIT for the next book!!

Immortal Bastard by Lydia Michaels is 4th in her Order of the Vampires series. I am not one to read para books. They're not really my cup of tea, but I love Lydia Michaels' stories, so I gave this series a go. I love the Order of the Vampires and this book has not let me down. Christian is an elder immortal who lives with a group that lives as Amish in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, hiding in plain sight. Christian has been called and set off to find his mate. Delilah is a struggling tattoo artist. They meet one night at a bar and she takes him back to her shop for sex. She gave consent to sex be not to be changed. Christian took her back to the farm and the archaic ideas of the Order. This led to a lot of banter bother angry and witty. After a lot of compromise and negotiations, they come to an agreement. This was quite a rollercoaster ride and had a lot going on with the rest of the community. I have so many questions and I can't wait to see what happens next!

An exhilarating new addition in The Order of Vampires series!
From the first chapter, you get a true vision of what the story is going to be. We meet Delilah, who is for lack of better words, is a fiesty free spirit heroine who then comes across Christian. While she is less impressed with the male species, Christian captures her attention and immediately she is transfixed. From there, well, the story sparks!
Delilah now finds herself in a whole new world of creatures that shouldn’t exist.
We’ve met Christian before, in previous book in the series, so we know a little about who he is, but we really get a thorough insight into his life.
Delilah fights at every turn, this new life she finds as a burden, and this man who is her fated mate. He wants submission and compliance but she is not willing.
The banter between the two was top notch. I found myself chuckling at the extreme difference in use of language from a modern woman vs a centuries old Amish immortal. Consider it foreplay between them because once they compromise and give in to each other, the chemistry is on fire!
The backstory, as well, gives us some clues on what we can expect in further books to come! Questions I had been asking get introduced throughout the story and especially in the end! I’m ready for more to come!

Immortal Bastard is a thrilling ride that will delight and entertain as much as it challenges and compels. This is story that will swallow you whole as your heart threatens to rebel while it desperately tries to find air to breathe. A fast pace has nothing on this journey. You fly via the speed of light and land head first into a new reality that leaves you confused and seeking answers. As those answers trickle in, you aren't sure whether to settle in or to fight for your very existence. However, soon you realize that all is not as it seems and life has thrown you into the bottom of the very ocean in order to save yourself or drown.

Delilah has carved out a life for herself. It is all hers even if there are a few hurtles. When a stunning man approaches her, she isn't sure what to do. Her body demands one thing while her head and heart are at odds. How can one man cause such havoc for her from his mere presence? Christian is on the hunt. He is completely single-minded in his mission. When he finds his prize, he will stop at nothing to have all of her. Their undeniable chemistry allows him to taste what is his without much resistance, and he revels in the joy of finding his treasure. Will Delilah accept everything he has to offer, or will she return to her previous life and leave him in to a devastating future?

While they both had a lot to learn about each other, they are at least wiling to find out about the other and work through compromises to make their burgeoning life together not so rough and agonizing. Two stubborn hearts usually spell disaster, but when one or both are wiling to show some vulnerability, it helps to soften a hard heart and allow compassion and grace to flow as it opens eyes and reveals truths. The love that began to grow as a result was such a breathtaking revelation! They felt like children learning to walk and growing with the world around them. It was both a harrowing and entrancing time that helped to unite them together.

Lydia Michael is a wickedly talented author who took me one mind-bending thrill ride. I am now extremely curious as to where this provocative series will go from this point. I have just had a taste of her world, but now I must have more of this fascinating journey to fully appreciate its genius and to satisfy my unending curiosity.

Immortal Bastard - Lydia Michaels
5/5 STARS 5/5 SPICE

I was given a free advanced reader copy of this book through NetGalley. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

I loved this!!! I’m conflicted on how to rate the spice. I think it deserves a 5 but just because of frequency. It was super spicy but it wasn’t extremely descriptive or crazy out of the norm stuff. I haven’t read a good Vampire book in sooooo long! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. It’s so in-depth and good!!!! How does someone make sexy Amish Vampires? I mean come on! I’ll be honest the start of this book is confusing. But once you get into it, things make sense. Every once in a while there is a chapter from a random POV so sometimes that’s hard to follow. Once you get into the book it’s not difficult at all just those first few chapters. And it’s so hard to hate Christian! I mean come on. He’s terrible but soooo good. The whole Amish aspect was so unexpected but it was so good! And the whole community! This can totally be read as a stand-alone! I couldn’t get enough of this! This book is long but it’s worth it. I didn’t feel like it dragged on. I enjoyed watching Christian and Delilah slowly unravel one another! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a sexy vampire romance with a “controlling” MMC whose world gets shaken up by an independent FMC.

Book 4 in the series. I hadn’t read the previous books. I was not expecting Amish Vampires however this book was still incredibly spicy.

I was not a fan of the “immortals” super religious and oppressive culture. They use the Amish culture as a disguise to keep their community safe but are also rigidly religious which proved difficult for the FMC.

Delilah is a modern woman. She owns a tattoo parlor and is very independent. When Christian is “called” to find his mate and tracks her to a bar he doesn’t waste time taking what he wants. While Delilah consents to having sex with the hot stranger she doesn’t consent to being bitten and turned into an immortal vampire against her will and then is kidnapped.

Christian takes Delilah to his farm where she is forced to wear Amish clothing including a kapp, she’s not allowed to talk to other males or go anywhere without Christian, she’s not allowed to leave and go back to her life, she’s not allowed to curse (even in her own head because he can read her mind) or he spanks her and he forces her to go to church service even though she is atheist.

I enjoyed the beginning where Delilah fights back, mouths off and refuses to give an inch though slowly she gives In because “the sex is good”. She makes a lot of compromises but Christian hardly makes any and so she has no autonomy or independence or say in anything really. It’s a frustrating pill to swallow when she finally stops fighting and even expresses that she actually likes this new life forced on her.

There are a lot of interesting side stories including Christian’s independent mother, Adriel who has been hiding from Christian’s psycho abusive father for 300 years. Dane and Cybil, I hope they are able to find a way to undo what happened to Cybil and Juniper who is a witch taken captive and accused of cursing an elder but who appears to be more a victim with a story of her own to tell.

Most of the characters in the community are insufferable with their strict adherence to “family law” that prevents them from helping Delilah when in the beginning she begs the other female mates to help her they just hand her back over to Christian because apparently what he wants is more important than what she wants.

I enjoyed the tension, the spice, Delilah’s attitude in the beginning and the side stories. I didn’t enjoy the misogyny.

This story is the fourth in the series …..while it is a standalone it would help to read the other stories. The premise is a bit different for a story about immortals. Christian is very set in his ways and has to do some serious compromising. Delilah has her work cut out for her but she is a fighter and doesn’t go down easily. Fantastic addition to the series! The beginning is a bit slow but wow about 1/3 in and the hear rises…..Loads of smexy times, angst, anger and forgiveness. The ending is….wow…..just wow.

Way to go Lydia Michaels! So enjoyed the continuation of the series.

This is the story of Christian Schrock or Mr. Yummy pants or Mr. Gorgeous (Ha I was laughing out loud) and Delilah Starling. She doesn’t know what she’s in for when she meets tall dark and handsome. Her whole world is turned upside down, she is completely flummoxed as how this all happened.

The back and forth between the two of them is great, she is strong - and he is concerned.

But, as the story unfolds, so does their love. You can’t help but love these two, but the ending - uh-oh!

Delilah Starling, a struggling tattoo artist, meets Christian Schrock in a bar but the night turns out very unexpected. Kidnapped and forced into a mated bond that she did not want Delilah is forced into an Amish Immortal (“vampire”) community by Christian. They constantly fight each other because of lack of trust and different views of religion and lifestyle. Can they both accept change and their new reality to be happy together?

“Immortal Bastard” by Lydia Michaels was not something I would ever read. To be super truthful I feel very dupped into reading the book. I would never have read an Amish book, and the synopsis did not mention it at all probably because very few people would read. I will not be reading anymore of this series and probably not read any other books by her because I feel lied to. 1 out of 5 stars.

I'm good with vampires and dubious consent. Kidnapping is fine...it's a book not real life so my rules for what is and isn't ok are different.

But one thing I need is to believe in the attraction of the main couple. I actually believed in his for her...but I never believed she was attracted to him. In order for me to believe the rest of the book, I had to buy that...and I just didn't.

I'm unable to recommend this title.

Do you miss REAL alpha males in your PNRs? You know, the ones that take what they want, when they want it, and just don't give a damn? Well, Call Her Mine will bring you back to those golden days when powerful males said, "Mine!".

Don't get the wrong impression, though. The heroine, Delilah, is no pushover. Christian might take what he wants, but that doesn't mean Delilah meekly recieves what he's giving. She's an alpha in her own right and it makes the sparks fly.

My only complaint would be that the outside conflict (there's a baddie running around) was resolved a little too quickly. I, almost, wish that the side-line drama wouldn't have been there. Believe me, Christian and Delilah have enough of their own drama to keep the tension and laughs flowing.

If you haven't checked out The Order of the Vampyres series I can't recommend it enough. If you have been keeping up with this interesting cast of characters, then you're in for a treat! I think Call Her Mine is my favorite of the series so far :)

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Part 4 of an ongoing series

It has felt like forever I have been waiting to visit this small visit where these immortals hide in plain site as an Amish community.

Lydia had left me waiting to get some answers that were risen after reading Prodigal Son, thankfully some of the questions were answered but more questions have come up and now I am fully immersed into this community and this story and can't wait for more.

In Immortal Bastard we have Christian Schrock and Delilah Starling. We first get a real glimpse of Christian in Prodigal Son and I have to admit he didn't win me over there, so I was surprised he was the hero in this story. But Lydia has such a writing gift for making me fall in love with previously unloveable character that she won me over Immortal Bastard and Christian was the perfect hero here and was totally deserving to find his HEA.

“Any fool can claim a female, Christian. But it takes a male of honour to claim someone’s heart.”

I instantly fell in love with Delilah and her feisty nature. Delilah's life had such an abrupt change and she was forced to accept her new reality in a very short time. With this short time frame she handled it way better than I ever could have.

“Sorry. I didn’t have a chance to properly clean before my last kidnapping. In the future, a little notice would give me some time to prepare.”

I am a fan of paranormal romance and this series fits the bill but I have to admit when I first started this series I was thinking 'am I really reading about Amish Immortals/Vampires?' How is that possible, but the more I read the series the more that combination is absolutely brilliant and Lydia does such a great job bringing this community and these characters to life.

I am a pretty modern day woman and with a very strong pro-equal rights belief system, so the hardest thing for me in this book and within the series is the extreme male dominated society of this Amish order. Though as we have more strong willed and modern mates we are starting to see the change and potential growth to more modern thinking within the order.

Are you a God-fearing man who knows right from wrong, or do you only lean on your faith when it can be weaponized to control others?

Each of these books has a main couple but we also get other points of views from other characters which help move along the story line and gives us more back story on characters and the multiple story lines.

Since I was not a fan of Christian from Prodigal Son it was such a great journey to see the evolution of him and at the same time for Delilah to sit better in her own skin and be more true to her self. The Order of Vampires is such a great series that it is something that needs to be experienced which makes it hard to review and express my love with giving too much away.

I am so excited for the next book- Primal Kill, I have no idea who the main couple is going to be. Will it be focused on Dane? Maybe Gracie? Or will it be someone else? There are so many layers to this series with different interwoven stories which means this series can go in many different directions and I can not friggin' wait for more.

Great Story & Listen🎧 A Wild & Fascinating Ride!

Immortal Bastard
The Order of Vampires, Book 4
By: Lydia Michaels
Narrated by: Lucinda Gainey

Lydia Michaels pens another winning novel, a fascinating paranormal romance novel set in her amazing “Order of Vampires” series. The story had me hooked from the very start, and I could not pull myself away from it until the very end. The writing, plot and world building are phenomenal, as are the character growth and development. And the character are easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to root for, too. Delilah Starling, a tattoo artist struggling to make ends meet, but she made the monthly rent and has work lined up for her. She goes out for a drink after work and that is when she meets him, Christian Schrock. Delilah’s steamy and rewarding night turns into something she never would have imagined, an abduction to a whole other lifestyle and world. Christian is relieved to find his mate, since time was running out and the outcome for those who do not find their fated mates is not good. No one told him how hard it was going to be once he found her. Christian lives a simple life without modern conveniences, but there is nothing simple about him or the people in his community. Delilah is feisty and does not make it easy for Christian, she likes her modern day conveniences, but that is not all she needs to get used to. The hierarchy is not something she can easily accept or even get used to. But she soon learns she does not have much of a choice. It was great watching these two get to know each other despite her reluctance and determination to be her own person. Christian saw things his way and probably the only way he knew, but it was nice to see him make compromises. Besides the building of their relationship and her adapting to her new life, there are some interesting side stories happening on the farm. I loved originality and all the layers of this story, and how the descriptive details immerse you in the characters' experiences. Lydia Michaels, thank you for another amazing story and the wide emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Lucinda Gainey does an amazing job bringing the characters and story to life. She was great covering the roles for both the male and female characters, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. Her portrayal of the characters was spot on and she was believable in every role. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. Ms. James is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fantastic listen.

Book 4 in this fabulous series by Lydia, another book that hooked me in from the start and I couldn't put down! Can be read as a standalone but best read in order so you know the background to the world and the side characters you will continue to meet in these books.

Christian is a 300 year old vampire and is an Elder on the Council, meaning he is strict and orderly. He starts to dream of his mate and sets out to find her.....

Delilah is as modern as a woman can get - she's a tattoo artist, covered in tattoos and piercings herself, every other word out of her mouth is a swear word, she takes no s*** from anyone, she's her own person and lives her life as she sees fit. The new guy at the bar is very handsome and she could definitely climb him like a tree......

What actually happens is that Christian claims her, feeling the attraction from his mate, but doesn't think to explain what he's doing to her, just bites her, turns her, and takes her back to his house on the farm, expecting her to just fall in line.... boy is he in for a shock!

What follows is anything but easy for either of them, as Christian tries to eventually explain what he has done and how Delilah now has to conform to living an Amish lifestyle and learning all the rules and laws that go with it, also explaining to her that she is now a vampire, his mate for life, and how she must drink his blood, which goes down spectacularly as she is a vegetarian!

The banter between these two, the push and pull, the tension is all just delicious! Christian can't stand her swearing and tries to administer some spanking in an attempt to curb her mouth. Delilah can't stomach the idea of drinking blood and sets about giving up eating.

Lots of learning curves on both sides as they try to adapt their to lives together. It's not an easy read at times, but both characters grow tremendously throughout the story. Delilah is the other half of Christian's soul and he would do anything for her, she just has to realise it!

Lots of interaction from the side characters from previous books and a continuation of the storyline involving the witch they have chained underground along the the feral vampire, we also learn the background to Christian's mother and father, who makes a very unwelcome appearance in this one! Very much looking forward to more from this series! Highly recommended reading for vampire fans.

Delilah needed a drink... badly. Luckily she just scheduled a major client that ensured that her rent was paid for the next three months. She was determined to keep the doors of her tattoo shop open and the intricate tattoo that was just booked had literally kept her off the streets.

She fights through the mass of bodies to get to the bar only to land next to an annoying judgemental man giving her crap about her body art. The man just wouldn't take the hint that she wasn't interested in him or his opinion. She had almost decided that the drink wasn't worth it when a man tells the man to back off. She is mesmerized by a man too beautiful to be real.

Her night just got better. Not only was this man gorgeous but he had an accent she couldn't place. He was more confused than judgmental about her tattoos and she was excited to show him her work and spend some time alone with him. Until at the height of her orgasm she felt the grip around her neck tightening and realized that there was blood running down her chest.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This is book four of the Order of the Vampires series and could be read as a standalone but since the characters and storyline are continuing I would suggest you read the complete series in order.

As soon as Christian felt the calling of his true mate he left The Order to find her. He wasn't taking a chance that she would refuse and he would end up like the abomination that was Isaiah Hartzler. Even if she hated him for eternity for not giving her a choice.

Christian is hilarious in his refusal to bend and not understanding what Delilah is going through. He doesn't understand why she can't accept her changed circumstances and it was wonderful watching him learning to compromise.

This book is highly erotic and full of danger. Christian and Delilah get their HEA, but there are a lot of moving parts in this continued story that leave you wondering what is in store for Adriel, Dane and others. I also wonder if we haven't heard the last of Isaiah. Will Cybil and Isaiah be able to be saved from their insanities or am I wishing for something that can't be reversed?

Highly recommend this series whether you read or listen to the audiobooks. Both are amazing.

Delilah and Christian will haunt my dreams for some time to come. Their story is not an easy one and their path was filled with thorns and brambles. But no love story is ever truly easy or without challenge.

It will fill you with visions of The Handmaid’s Tale or any other number of books where women are seen as cattle. Meant for servitude and breeding. Christian is an immortal and he’s finally had his calling for his mate - the other half of his soul. But a 300 year old immortal doesn’t exactly know how to handle himself in this scenario. His mate is Delilah and she’s a young, modern and independent woman that has no idea who the guy at the bar is, but she knows she’s attracted to him.

After finding herself “belonging” to him and taken captive to his house in a remote location on a farm with other immortals, her world crumbles around her. Delilah is a strong-willed and passionate character that struggles with her view of herself, but knows that she wants the autonomy to make her own decisions. Which is something that her new mate, Christian, has a hard time doing.

They constantly challenge one another and have a deep progressive development throughout this book. The first 25% of this book felt incredibly slow… there was a lot of groundwork being laid for who the characters were, what was happening and where things might go. But once I got through that hurdle, things really started taking shape and I was hooked on it. I need to go back and read the earlier books in this series to understand everything that’s taken place up to this point. But each book can be read as a stand alone.

I was really amazed at the growth of the characters throughout this book - not to mention the swoon worthy way they care about each other, even if it’s colored by deep seeded hate in the beginning.

HIGHLY recommend this one for ANYONE that loves a classic vampire story. It really brought me back to me early reading days of consuming everything written by Anne Rice.

OMG!! This story was absolutely amazing!! The poignant and poetic tale that is woven had me instantly captivated and hanging onto every written word. The storyline is unique, creative and eerily written keeping me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with anticipation and gasping at the shocking events that continually take place right before my eyes. It was a dark, depraved and spicy rollercoaster ride that I was hoping would never end.

Christian (the rule follower) needed a mate that would break him out of the rigidness of the culture he lives in. I couldn’t wait to see who his future mate would be – maybe she would finally dislodge that stick that was up his ass!!!

Delilah, a foul mouthed (she could make a sailor blush), pierced, sexy, tattooed woman, was not expecting her world to get turned upside down and inside out. She was in for one hell of a massive life changing moment. Being kidnapped, bitten, turned and forced into the Amish lifestyle, was definitely not what her life choices would have been. But Delilah will give her captor hell every moment she can, which resulted in some very spicy and utterly delicious punishments.

I loved the fierce and intense back and forth banter between Christian and Delilah. These two were oil and water, a bit toxic, but so freaking hot when together.

Such an amazing and well written story about these crazy immortals who love fiercely and the women that love them back. It was packed with adrenaline inducing moments, angst and drama, violence and blood, hilarious and quirky moment, and insane passion and love that just oozes off the pages.

The ending was exciting and left me wondering what is going to happen now in the next book!!!

From the very start of the book I was hooked.
Ms. Michaels has totally captivated me with The Order of Vampires series.
And this book is a fabulous addition to the collection.
If you are familiar with the author then you know her writing and storytelling is impeccable.
Her usage of words builds a unique world that comes to life of the pages.
Descriptions and details are so vivid I felt I was seeing a movie and not reading.
Let me say how much I loved Delilah. Loved her feistiness and her sass.
No matter what situations she finds herself in her mouth just takes over 😂.
I thought she was brave and courageous. She’s strong and determined.
I found her funny even when she wasn’t trying to be.
Christian while I didn’t agree with how he went about things. I liked him.
I think he acted quickly and without thought because he was afraid.
I don’t think it was done with malicious intentions.
He really did love his pintura. I could feel how sad he was when she was upset.
I could feel how much he wanted her comfort and her happiness.
While their relationship is rough and rocky. Their sexual relationship is not.
It’s off the charts hot and sexy. Absolutely nothing lacking in that department.
Each of the books has a main couple. But we also get other points of views from other characters
Which keeps things interesting and moves the storyline and plot along with the main characters romance story. So it’s wonderful having different characters and multiple stories going on.

'Immortal Bastard' is the fourth book in Lydia Michaels "The Order of Vampires" series and trust me when I say mine wasn't the only heartbeat that could visibly be seen thumping at my neck. What started out as an immediate attraction turned into a living nightmare. Nothing is going as predicted for Christian and Delilah cannot wrap her brain around being kidnapped and finding herself on a farm with, to her, an Amish lunatic. The battles are fierce, the personalities are strong, and until a compromise is made by both parties, no one can move forward. This storyline is intense and I felt like I was right there in a corner watching all this play out. Once their hard-won compromise had been met these two brought a heat to the storyline I didn't see coming. So many previous questions were answered and yet new ones took their place. The entire premise of this series is completely new to me and I'm totally vested in what's gone on and sitting on the edge of my seat to find out what's coming.

I am not usually a fan of books about Vampires/Immortals/Undead or any of those tropes, however this book by Lydia Michaels is fabulous!

Delilah is struggling, but keeping her head above water, mostly. She decides to treat herself to a night out and meets Christian in a bar. She is immediately attracted to him. Christian owns the room, and keeps other men away from Delilah. They decide to take their attraction to a more private location. Once there, Christian's need for her overwhelms them both. When she wakes up, she's far away from her life, her business, and her friends. Christian tries to explain what has happened, that they are destined to be together and Delilah is his mate. As a down to earth liberated woman, you can imagine how that goes over!

The story is about give and take, learning to love and accept things that are almost unacceptable to both of them. As a 300 year old Immortal, Christian thinks he's in command. As his 30ish wife, Delilah isn't having any of that without some input from her! The way they come to the middle to work things out is amazing.

There are characters from the first 3 books that are also part of this story. Although it can be read as a standalone, I think you'll get more enjoyment reading the books in order to really understand some of the nuances about 'The Order' and what makes them tick. Then ending was exciting and sets the stage for the next book in the series. CAN. NOT. WAIT.

Now this is how a female character should be written! Lydia Michaels knows how to write strong, unforgettable female characters, and the heroine of Immortal Bastard is no exception. She’s fierce, resilient, and refuses to bend—exactly what you want in a lead. Her fight is inspiring, and her refusal to lose herself, makes her shine like a diamond in this dark, seductive world.

Christian, on the other hand, is harder to pin down. He’s a unique character, but his pompous attitude makes him a challenge to like. That said, his complexity adds tension to the story. He really is a love interest who challenges the usual tropes. Will he tame her, or will she break him instead?

The best part of the book is how real the heroine feels. She fights for herself in a way that’s authentic and believable.
That balance of push-and-pull keeps the story gripping, and this authors writing ensures you’re invested until the very last word. The stakes are high, and the chemistry is undeniable. Every moment of their battle for dominance had me hooked.

If you’re tired of one-dimensional heroines and want a paranormal romance with a lead who knows how to stand her ground. Immortal Bastard is worth every page. It’s a captivating mix of strength, passion, and conflict that’ll leave you eager for more. The Order of Vampires series has been on my radar since it started. Yes, I'm a fan, can you tell lol?
