I read this to get a feel for the series (this was the only volume available at my local library on the day I was there, and the librarian said the series is very popular right now). It is ok, but not outstanding, in my opinion. I think the National Park Mystery series by Aaron Johnson is much better, though this series is probably aimed at a slightly younger audience. I was disappointed there was no back matter with factual information or suggestions for more reading.
My 8 year old loved it. My 10 and 12 year thought it was alright. We thought it was a little corner with the "Who's on First" reference. Also thought it was odd to have Ethan identify the villain and have him actually be the villain.
