He’s forbidden fruit. My brother’s best friend—the one guy I’m not allowed to date, no matter what. But here’s the deal, it’s deeper than that. More complicated. Because we’ve been in love with each other since middle school. My brother has never seen what’s obvious to everyone else. Especially us. But now that my brother is marrying my best friend, why shouldn’t I finally get to be with the guy I want to be with? I should be able to tell the world I’m madly in love with the boy next door. But what if I’m wrong, and he doesn’t actually love me back? It would be his loss, because he and I? We’re the Perfect Deal.
The Perfect Deal by Jacob Parker is a secret romance, best friend's sister's romance. I believe this is my first book by this author, and overall, I thought it was good. Liberty and Joshua have loved each other since they were in middle school. But after one of Landon's (Liberty's brother) friends treats her terribly, he forbids all of his friends from dating her. When they decide they can no longer deny their feelings for one another, they get together, but then both are afraid of the wrath of Landon and hurting him, so they hurt each other. Many trips, sports camps, and family dramas later, and we do get a HEA.
What I liked about this book: The kids' camp storyline is cool The main characters individually I liked The overall plot of the story The dual POV The friends are fun
What I didn't enjoy: Neither main character had enough backbone to not let Landon control their lives-pathetic They were too afraid of upsetting a brother to date someone you have loved for most of your life. The issue with Karrie never gets resolved with her, ever. I would have preferred fewer trips, fewer adventures, more emphasis on the couples chemistry, and tying up the storyline. Overall, I did enjoy the book.
ARC provided by the author, and this is my honest review.
A brother’s best friend/secret romance story that will have you rooting for Liberty and Joshua. Landon has told all his friends that Liberty is off limits but that can’t stop the feeling that Joshua had for her and the feelings she had for him. They tried to hide how they feel but when they are in Landon’s wedding party and being close together all the time planning, their feelings were bound to come to the surface more and more with each passing day. Watching them fall in love and stand up to her brother was so much fun to read. Their story is an easy read that will have you returning for a reread in the future. I can’t wait to read what is coming up next in this world.
This is the second book in A Swanson Novel Series and it is absolutely fantastic and will have you definitely hooked from the beginning until the end. Joshua is Landon best friend and best man in his wedding and has always been in love with his sister Liberty and off limits ,but when they all take a trip before the wedding will lines get crossed and hearts broken?it's such a great story that I truly enjoyed it.
This is book two in A Swanson Novel Series and it is Joshua and Liberty’s story and it is definitely a must read. Joshua is the owner of a major sports complex but today he was unsettled because there was a lot going on with the kids summer camp and to top it all off Liberty was back home in Swanson living with her brother Landon who was also Joshua’s best friend and he knew that he would see her tonight at the annual neighbourhood barbecue and couldn’t wait and even though he had feelings for her and had for years she is off limits because off one of Landon’s friends used her and then broke up with her when he got what he wanted so Landon made sure that all his friends were off limits where his sister was concerned putting Joshua in a difficult situation. Liberty had feelings for Joshua for years but with Landon telling his friends that she was off limits it not only upset her but also felt like her brother was constantly trying to rule her life so when she gets a opportunity to go to camp with Joshua and be the photographer she jumps at the chance and hopefully she will be able to make a move and hope that everything will work out the way she wants it too. Joshua and Liberty have a great friendship, attraction, connection and chemistry but with there situation things are not easy and if Liberty goes for what she wants will Joshua take a chance and be with her all will he put his friendship with Landon first and miss out on something special, happiness and a future together, only time will tell what the outcome will be for them in the end. Joshua and Liberty had so many ups and downs, discussions, upsets and emotional situations while trying to travel a difficult path along with conflicted feelings without betraying the most important person to both of them and my heart breaks for everything that they were going through and in a way I can understand why Landon is so protective with Liberty but he really needs to take a step back and let her live her life how she wants to without feeling guilty. I really loved Joshua and Liberty’s story and how hard they had to fight to not only be together but how strong there love was for each other and sometimes you just have to take the chance and risk everything if you want something or someone so much that you just go for it and hope that things turn out in the end as they are so perfect for each other and deserve to be together. I definitely recommend that you read this book and you will not be disappointed.
This is the second book in this series, told in dual first person POV and leaves you with a HEA. This was a great read, but out of all of the books I’ve read by Jacob Parker, it wasn’t a favorite.
I loved that Liberty and Joshua had a history. I love how when they weren’t worried about being caught, they had the chemistry. I loved that they both loved the kids they ended worked with and how well they just fit together.
What I wish was different, when the opportunity presented itself, multiple times, neither one (mainly Liberty but Joshua as well) didn’t stand up to Landon (Liberty’s brother). I understood his thoughts and feelings, but if Liberty was over her past he should’ve been too. Also, if Joshua was really Landon’s best friend, Landon should know him and his actions better than what he gave him credit for.
I also wasn’t a fan that the Kerri issues wasn’t resolved. The questions for Liberty were answered, but I feel like we should have seen how Joshua handled it with Kerri. If it wasn’t for the book being released before the estimated release date, and me deciding to borrow it through Kindle Unlimited for the scroll feature, I wouldn’t have known about the extended epilogue. I was hoping in there I would get to see what happened when Joshua confronted Kerri, but sadly I didn’t. It did mention her, but not how I hoped. I still loved the extended epilogue though.
I do wish that we would’ve seen more of their chemistry and bonding/growth of their relationship instead of being so focused on all the trips. Although, I felt like I was on each trip and was experiencing all of it and enjoyed it, I just didn’t get the strength of the couple I was hoping for.
Nevertheless, I have loved all of Jacob Parker’s books, and still plan to read all the others he writes. This one just wasn’t able to allow me to give it the full five stars, but it doesn’t deserve less than a four star either.
I received an advanced readers copy via BookFunnel/the author. These thoughts and opinions are my own and left voluntarily after reading for my own personal enjoyment.
Joshua, owner of a major sports complex, loves living at Swanson Ridge Street, near Nashville, TN in the family home he has redecorated. He is long time friends with neighbor Landon, for whom he is best best man when he weds Poppy, another neighbor, but he is secretly longing for Liberty, Landon’s little sister who is, unfortunately, made off limits to any males by big brother and, not coincidentally, the maid of honor. Liberty works for Landon at the office, but her real passion is photography, so when Joshua’s regular photographer has to cancel to take care of his wife, the idea to give the job to Liberty takes off.
But the path to happiness is never easy, especially when there is a protective older brother hovering over his sister and her yet-to-be disclosed lover. The cast of Swanson Ridge Street is filled with families and friends whose live have entertained for generations, so come along with our couple as they move from summer camp to Florida and to Bali before the blessed union of Poppy and Landon arrives, but not before a dreadful argument threatens to derail the best laid plans. This is a sweet, sweet romance!
I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily leave my honest opinion.
Joshua and Liberty have been dancing around each other for years but her brother Landon was not aware that they had been holding back their feelings to avoid upsetting him due to his ill judged bro-code. When Landon finds out about them spending the night together there is a huge fallout and there are some tense arguments whilst in the idyllic surroundings of Bali. Joshua stole my heart when he told Landon, his best friend, that if he had to chose between his best friend or the woman he loved, he would chose Liberty every time. If that wasn’t a confession of true love then nothing was going to break through Landon’s stubbornness in protecting his sister. It was a tender love story with a difficult journey for Joshua and Liberty, having to overcome quite a few ups and downs probably due to lack of communication in the main. Liberty’s character showed a depth with her ability to mix with everyone, but most enlightening was her acknowledging that her brother shouldn’t be allowed to run her life. Poppy was a true friend and as Landon’s fiancée she quietly chipped away helping to smooth the path of love I enjoyed Joshua and Liberty’s story and can’t wait for the next book in the series, to see what happens next.

Oh wow! I have loved getting this opportunity to come back to Swanson Ridge. After falling in love with Landon and Poppy in the previous book, I needed to know the story with their best friends. Joshua and Liberty have been more than half in love with one another for as long as they’ve known each other. Unfortunately, a bad encounter with a jerk in Liberty’s past made her big brother, and Joshua’s best friend, invoke the “Bro Code”; keeping everyone he knew as far away from his little sister as he could. None of that stopped their feelings for each other from growing. Will they be able to get big brother/best friend over the hurdles to accept their relationship? Or is this about to be the end of one of the most important relationships in both their lives? I really loved this pair, and I desperately needed to see them get their Happy Ever After. But holy moly! Joshua really is clueless sometimes. And in regard to that cluelessness, I kind of wanted to see more of the outcome of his unintentional other woman drama. However, there’s enough chemistry flying around between the rest of their friends and family that I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring us. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
Joshua and Liberty have been neighbors since childhood and have secretly loved each other most of their lives. But Joshua’s best friend, Landon is Liberty’s older brother who has told all his friends that Liberty is off limits to any of them. Afraid to act on their feelings Liberty and Joshua try to stay away from being alone together. But Landon is marrying Liberty’s best friend Poppy and she’s the maid of honor and Joshua is the best man. Thrown together to help with the wedding, plus two pre-wedding trips, and working together, their attraction grows, and they can’t resist each other. When Landon finds out while they are all in Bali on a neighborhood trip, he explodes. Joshua and Liberty retreat to their own corners, both feeling guilty and miserable because they miss each other.
This is a fun, easy weekend read. I was a little irritated that Liberty and Joshua wouldn’t face Landon sooner and make him understand they loved each other. And Landon’s refusal to see what everyone else saw, that they loved each other was annoying. Still, I enjoyed this story because it has a great ending, and recommend you add it to your TBR!
4 Stars I received a free copy of the steamy Tennessee set novel The Perfect Deal: A Swanson Ridge Novel by Jacob Parker and this review was given freely. Interesting and complex with a lot of drama. This is not just the low-key love finally realized romance of aspiring photographer Liberty and successful sports complex and sports summer camp franchise owner Joshua. Peppered with steamy scenes and the angst brought on by a prowling coworker, Jacob Parker combines everyday family moments with multiple social events, the preparations for Poppy and Landon’s wedding, Joshua’s unexpected and unwanted love triangle, Liberty and her soon-to-be sister-in-law Poppy’s attempts to gain her overbearing but protective brother Landon’s approval to date his best friend Joshua, and slices of Joshua’s work life. I enjoyed the camp scenes but was a bit frustrated at times by the almost thirty-year-old successful businessman Joshua’s ”friends before love” moto and by Poppy’s brother Arlo’s crass/public humiliation of Liberty and Joshua.
I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily leave my honest opinion.
Joshua, the owner of a large sports complex, loves living in the family home he renovated. He is Landon's best friend and neighbour, and secretly longs for Liberty, Landon's little sister, who is sadly off-limits to any man because of her older brother. Liberty works for Landon in the office, but her real passion is photography. When Joshua's callback photographer has to cancel on him, the idea of hiring Liberty comes up.
Liberty's had the best character that showed her ability to fit in with everyone, but at the same time she believes that her brother should not rule her life. It was a beautiful love story with a difficult journey for Joshua and Liberty, having to overcome ups and downs during the process. But overall, it was worth staying till the end to see them fight for their love. Highly Recommended!
Joshua and Liberty’s story is an emotional rollercoaster.
Joshua is the owner of a major sports complex. Landon is his best friend and Liberty’s brother. They are also neighbors. Both of them live in their childhood homes in Swanson Ride, TN. He’s loved Liberty since middle school. Liberty works for her family business, but her passion is to be a photographer. She is also best friends with her brother’s fiancé, Poppy. She has loved Joshua a long time, but can’t do anything about it. Landon says she’s off limits because one his friends broker her heart. How much longer can you go on respecting your best friend’s wishes? It’s ironic that Joshua’s best friend is marrying Liberty’s best friend. Don’t the same rules apply for best friends of women? This is a very emotional and frustrating story for these two characters. It’s full of anticipation and love to a fault. A great story that you will feel to your core.
Liberty and Joshua have been waiting years to be together. The only problem is her protective brother refuses to let her date any of his friends. He has scared them all off big time. He calls the bro code on everybody who shows any interest in Liberty. And that includes Joshua, his best friend, who has been in love with Liberty since high school. They have to go through so much drama, angst, sneaking around, trying to keep the relationship a secret even though inside they are miserable because they can’t be public about it. A great story of two people who don’t want to lose their best friend or brother, but want to live their own lives as they see fit. I think if it comes down to best friend or the person you’re in love with, Joshua says he would choose her every time. I think that’s when, Landon finally realizes that it’s not just a flash in the pan but it’s the real thing. What a good book. Each chapter brings more drama and uncertainty if they will make it.
What a lovely story between Joshua and Liberty. They both have chemistry and nobody seems to know it but them. Joshua's best friend Landon is also Liberty's big brother. And Liberty's best friend Poppy is marrying Liberty's brother. Liberty lives with her brother, Poppy lives across the street and Joshua lives next door. Liberty works for her brother but hates the job, she wants to be a photographer. Joshua owns a sports complex coaching kids and offering them help. They are heading away to camp and their photographer has to pull out so Joshua asks Liberty if she can stand in for him. This will be her opportunity to have time with Joshua away from her protective brother. What will happen to them if they give in to there passion. How will Landon react when he finds out. You will have to read it to find out! Thanks Jacob!

Joshua and Liberty have been circling love for each other since middle school, but he is her brother Landon's BFF and she is the little sister, so hands off. Now it's time for Landon and Poppy's wedding and Poppy is Liberty's BFF. Liberty is maid of honor and Joshua is best man. So loads of things for them to do together in preparation of the wedding and a couple of trips to take. I loved this book and this series. Book 1 introduced us to the characters on Swanson Ridge and gave us the background story on Landon and Poppy. This book gives us their HEA and wedding, plus all the angst and background between Liberty and Joshua. Can't wait to read book 3. These books can be read as standalones but reccomend you read book 1 first then book 2. Jacob can write such an intriguing storyline he keeps me interests throughout.

Liberty is Landon’s little sister and has made it know to all of his friends that she is totally off limits. Joshua is Landon’s best friend and has had feelings for Liberty for a very long time. Well Liberty has crushed /loved Joshua since middle school. Both try really hard to honor Landon’s wishes but when the love bug strikes all bets are off. How will Landon handle it when he finally finds out about his sister and Joshua? Nice addition to this series. In the first book we see Landon and Liberty’s best friend Poppy fall in love and now it’s Liberty’s turn. Jacob brings a great storyline that will keep you wanting more. I received an arc copy of this book and I am freely leaving my review.
Joshua and Liberty have tried to ignore their true feelings for one another for so long but when they couldn't do it anymore they started a relationship which they have had to keep secret. Why you might ask do two consenting adults put themselves through this? Well, his best friend is her brother and neither one of them wants to rock that particular boat. Landon is getting his happy ever after why did it take them so long to tell him how they felt? until almost the end of the story.
Overall the story was good but there was too much back and forth making the story seem drawn out.
I read an ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing my review.
This is a well written book with a cast of strong characters centering on Joshua and Liberty. He's her brother's best friend which makes her off limits. They've crushed on each other for years and can't help falling in love. The author takes you into their lives as he brings their story with anxiety, friendship and a sizzling passion. He moves the story fluidly with perfectly painted scenes and delivers a fantastic read. Loved it!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is a brilliant read. Joshua and Liberty have been in love with each other for years but she is his best friends little sister and is off limits When he needs a photographer to help at his sports camp Liberty is the only person he wants. While away at the camp they get closer but can they give into their feelings when her older brother would not be happy. So much turmoil and plenty of emotion but also so much love and friendship. A must read with a brilliant ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is an enjoyable read from start to finish. Joshua and Liberty have a long time friendship, a connection that they've fought. I loved the sweetness of Joshua, it worked well with their story. They have some ups and downs, letting her brother, who I loved in his story, have too much impact on their lives. The back and forth, the spice, the love of the family around them, it all comes together, and keeps the pages turning. Definitely a great read.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is the latest in this series, but can be read as a stand alone. Joshua and Liberty have liked each other for years, but never taken things further because of Landon, Liberty’s older brother and Joshua’s best friend. Landon has always made it clear that Liberty is off limits to all of his friends, and vice versa, even though Landon is engaged to Liberty”s best friend! Could this be the summer to finally change all that! Could this be the opportunity to finally progress their childhood crushes and find out if they have a connection worth pursuing! I received this as an ARC in return for this review, I found this to be a slow burner, but well worth the build up, I look forward to reading more in this series
This was a sweet forbidden love romance. Liberty and Landon grew up together in the same neighborhood, and have loved each other from afar because she is his best friend's little sister. However, they are thrown together to celebrate Landon and Poppy's wedding, complete with a pre-wedding tropical adventure. Reading as they work thru their feelings was a lovely and heartwarming adventure. I received this book as an ARC for my voluntary review.
Joshua and Liberty have loved each other since middle school, but her older brother, Joshua's best friend Landon, has been a problem for them. I especially liked how Joshua helped Liberty get a photography job with his sports complex when Liberty desperately needed a different job than working for Landon in the family business. Joshua always had Liberty's best interests at heart throughout the whole book.
THE PERFECT DEAL A Swanson Ridge Novel 2 by Jacob Parker This is a best friend's little sister tale and secret romance. Joshua and Landon have been friends for years. Liberty is Landon's little sister who has had a crush on Joshua for years. Landon is engaged to Liberty's best friend, so she decides to go for what she wants to get with Joshua. This is a heartwarming, well written story with great characters. This is a 4 star read.
Forbidden love and the Bro Code!! Liberty and Joshua have known each other since childhood, lived in same neighborhood and each have secretly loved the other. Liberty’s brother Landon is to be married to her best friend Poppy. Landon and Joshua are also best friends. Still with me?? Really a fun story, gets a bit complicated when Landon pulls the “Bro Code” for none of his friends to date his sister Liberty. Fun story, a bit long but a good read.
Liberty has been in love with Joshua since middle school but since he is her brother’s best friend she is off limits to him. Joshua has also been in love with Liberty since school but landon her brother was really clear about dating his sister. When they are thrown together for her brother and her bff’s wedding, their chemistry will go through the roof. Can they have an HEA? Or will her brother Landon control the outcome? You have to read this story to find out.
Liberty and Joshua’s story is a bro best friend one that has them liking each other since school but due to one of her bro, Landon,, friend hurting her before Landon forbids any of the other friends. But once these two get together they feel bad for going against him and hurt themselves instead of Landon. In the end they get their hea and Landon is good with that. I volunteered to read for my honest opinion
Landon and Liberty are brother and sister. Landon has found love with his neighbor and best friend of his sister, Poppy. Liberty has had feelings for Joshua ever since she can remember. Joshua took a little bit of time to catch up. I loved Joshua’s clueless personality. It made for more drama. Liberty and Joshua have to sneak around to hide their love from family especially Landon, bro code. Until one day they don’t. Read what happens when all he!! breaks loose.
This is the second book in the Swanson Ridge Series, a small town romance. This is an interconnected series. Liberty and Joshua's story is well written, sweet, and heartwarming. Liberty is Landon's sister (from The Marriage Pact, the first book in the series). Joshua is Landon's best friend. I loved this brother’s best friend forbidden romance! This is a beautiful love story, filled with ups and downs. Looking forward to more in the series.
