Liam Rodriguez is known for being the notorious ladies’ man—a scorching hot officer with a drool-worthy charm. But he's been living by a rule: avoid romantic relationships.
After a childhood trauma where he experienced a deep loss, the heartbreak has caused him to turn away from the possibility of any romantic entanglement.
He meets a beautiful woman with blue eyes and a fierce personality who turns his world upside down. He can't seem to stop thinking about her.
Sophie Summers is on the rebound all due to her toxic past relationship. Now, she’s only looking for casual and no long-term relationships. Once Liam discovers what she is looking for, he also seeks the same.
He is persistent when he comes up with an agreement—no strings attached.
They can’t deny the powerful attraction between them. The man is hard to resist, has a soul spun from gold, he's jealous, and has protective tendencies.
What transpires between them makes it more than what they agreed to. Liam ignores the limits he had set for himself, while Sophie reconsiders her choices. As a result, they end up spending more time with each other.
This agreement has an end. The problem is that Sophie has fallen in love. However, he made it clear from the beginning that he’d never fall in love.
Will Sophie be able to capture and mend his broken heart? Or will he remain bound by his past?
Author Note
Recklessly You is the second book of the Delgado brothers. Although I highly advise reading the first book, Always You, to become acquainted with the character, it can be read as a standalone. Recklessly You does follow Always You’s timeline. While you can read book one later, expect to encounter spoilers for book 1 in book 2.
J. Morales is a new author for me and this is the first book I have read. I haven't read the previous part, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this one. The story is very beautiful and emotional, it shows the inner struggle and fears of both main characters of the book, their obvious attractiveness and sincere feelings.
I also like the secondary characters because each of them has their own story that I would like to read. There are also things that I found a bit boring, ie. Liam's excessive possessiveness, but overall the book was very good. The writing style was very interesting to me because I learned some new phrases and expressions. English is not my first language and it means a lot to me when I can learn something new. Thank you very much for this opportunity, I hope to read something new soon.

“Have you been in love? Have you had a girlfriend?”
“I have.” His thumb brushes my cheek. “I’m in love with you, Sophie.
I’m hopelessly, recklessly in love with you. I had a girlfriend. She was my
first. I was too dumb and fucked in the head to open my eyes and see what
was in front of me. I pushed her away because I thought I was saving her.
Only then did I realize I went and fucked it up and lost her. I lost the one
woman who loved me, saw me at my worst, and still loved me. I painted
my dad’s truck ocean blue, like the color of the eyes of the woman I’m in
love with.”
My chin trembles, and I start to cry. His thumb brushes my tears away.
“I’m sorry, Sophie. I’m sorry I hurt you. I never meant those horrible
words. You’re not some quick fuck. You mean so much more, baby. You
mean everything to me—you’re my light in my darkness, the key to my
locked heart. My woman. Mine. Your mine.”
---
My knuckles turn white from gripping the steering wheel as I fly
down the highway. How dare he show up like a Greek god, the sun glinting
off his golden olive skin. His tank top outlined each perfectly sculpted
muscle, clinging to his toned body. Every time he flexed, his biceps seemed
to ripple with power. Oh, let’s not forget his sunglasses. My arousal quickly
fades into anger. I turn on the radio at full blast, needing something,
anything, to distract me from him. “Muscle Memory” by Kelsea Ballerini
plays. Oh, goodie. How damn fitting.
Finally pulling up to my apartment, I grab my handbag and make my
way to the door.
“Christ, woman, you drive like the devil is chasing after you.”
I jump, startled, and my hand goes to my chest.
Liam slams his car door and strides toward me. His car is almost
sideways in my driveway, like he pulled in too fast, without a single care
except catching me.
“It seems like the devil is chasing me. Again,” I grumble, fishing for my
keys. “What are you doing here?”
“Can we talk, please, Sophie?” His voice is faintly pleading.

This is my first encounter with this author's work, and it's the second installment in a captivating series. In the story, we meet Liam, a resilient but deeply wounded police officer who carries the heavy burden of a traumatic childhood experience. He's closed himself off to love, convinced that the potential heartbreak is not worth the risk, and he avoids forming deep connections with women. That is until he crosses paths with Sophie.
Sophie, a close friend of his best friend's girlfriend, is taking a break from serious dating and navigating the unpredictable waters of a rebound. When Liam first meets her, an instant attraction ignites, but Sophie initially rebuffs his advances. Undeterred, Liam persists, and they eventually agree to a no-strings-attached arrangement. As they spend time together, their connection deepens, and sparks fly, drawing them closer than either of them had anticipated.
Their budding relationship faces an unexpected challenge one fateful night, leaving both Liam and Sophie in a state of terror. Liam's protective instincts kick into high gear as he strives to shield Sophie from harm. But will his efforts prove sufficient? Can they overcome their shared fear and give their "relationship" a chance to blossom into something real and lasting? To discover the unfolding of their story, you must immerse yourself in these pages, where you'll experience a whirlwind of emotions, and yes, there will be moments that will make your heart swoon with delight.
This is the first book I've read by this author and the second in the series. But they can all be read as standalone books. I am definitely going to be reading more books from this author after this one. It was extremely gripping along with emotional.
Liam is a police officer who has been through a lot in many regards. Sophie has had it with serious dating and is not looking for anymore emotional attachments. But that was before she saw Liam and the sparks flew right from moment one. Though she still tries to stick to her no relationship rule and agrees to a no strings attached situation. Liam was all about it at first but it's clear that there is a deep connection between the two of them that only continues getting deeper as they spend time with one another.
When Sophie is put in danger, Liam doesn't hesitate to jump into action and do whatever it takes to make sure she is safe. I loved the way their relationship developed along with all the things we learned about them as the book went on. The secondary characters were also really great, and I'm hopeful they will each be getting their own stories as well as this series goes on.

Author J. Morales doesn't disappoint with this Grumpy/Sunshine, Off Limits, borderline Best Friends Brother/Sister second book in the Delgado Brother series, Recklessly You. FMC Sophie is ready for a change when it comes to men. She did the relationship thing with Eric, but got cheated on and left with a broken heart. Who needs relationships when dating apps can help you find fun and casual? MMC Liam was deeply traumatized at a young age, seeing his dad murdered in front of him. Determined to never let anyone he cares about get hurt again, he works hard to become a detective to keep his promise to his dad. When he see's Sophie he knows he's in trouble. Everything about her draws him in, but he doesn't relationships and she is not a one night stand kind of girl. When jealousy get's the best of them, they make a pact to keep things causal, but quickly it becomes more than casual. Can Sophie help Liam overcome his past and his fears without ended up with another broken heart? This book is full of interesting characters, plot twists, great story development and so much spice (🌶🌶🌶🌶) you'll be saying 'Holy Guacamole'! First time reading this Author and it was a delight. I get to meet Liam and Sophie for the first time. Liam doesn’t do relationship he is a hit it and quit it type of man. Sophie just got out of a bad relationship and wants to have fun and meet new people. What happens when your two best friends are dating and you meet and you feel a pull towards each other. Liam is fighting demons from his past and when he runs into Sophie on a numerous date he cant take it. He comes up with a plan that will put both their hearts at risks.
I enjoyed this books as a Latina I enjoyed feeling like I was home with my own family when he was with his( vicks and butter container) 😊 Liam’s possessiveness towards Sophie is hot and demanding plus a man in uniform ☠️. At times it broke my heart to see him carry all that drama and not know what to do with it. I was rooting for them throughout the story even when I didn’t think he deserved her, but I wanted Liam to be happy. I am now going back to read the first book in the series.
This is the second book in the series and though I didn't read the first, I felt like I followed along just fine so don't let that stop you.
Liam, a police officer, and Sophie meet through friends and feel an immediate draw to each other. Liam was never one for relationships or commitment, so he proposes an arrangement that could satisfy the both of them. Sophie had previously experienced a bad break up and after several terrible dates with other guys, she figured why not?
Liam was super possessive of Sophie, which I always like, and there was plenty of spice with it! I liked the group of friends and how everyone was like family. I appreciated that his past experience was explained in more detail and that epilogue was so good!
I struggled with this book so much because of terrible writing. I think it was written before AI became popular, but you could easily fool me that it fully went through ChatGPT, and the author didn't even edit it.
The sentences don't fit each other, dialogues sound like the author never has spoken to another human, repeating words multiple times within same paragraph, every part of the book is just so "stiff"... to name a few of many issues.
Plot was whatever... typical romance stuff that I signed up for, so no complaints here. But the writing, oh god... if this was a debut novel, I'd be more forgiving, but as it is now, I'm adding this author to my blacklist.
It's been a long time since a book made me procrastinate from reading it. Should have dnf'd.
I like the development in this book more than the peevious one. This book is a true definition of "She fell fist and she fell harder."
It takes great love to forgive him when he chose to hurt her, just to push her away. I hated him for this because he cowrdly chose to hurt her. Her love for him is greater than his love for her.
Looks like the female leads in this series are all selfless people when it comes to love. And the male leads are selfish people who cowrdly hurt their loved ones then want forgiveness.

Recklessly You by J.Morales is a good, and enjoyable steamy broken possisive policeman hero romance read with a dual point of view. The story has a great entertaining world building story line. The characters are great, and they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining spicy romance read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

J. Morales is now on my watch list. I loved Recklessly You. Liam and Sophie's story simply blew my mind. After a traumatic childhood, Liam refuses to allow himself to be hurt again. Sophie is through with men and relationships. Despite their rules their is no denying they have an intense chemistry. I was completely hooked at the very first page. Definitely recommend and I will be reading the first book in this series.
Liam and Sophie. Hes suffered a trauma that leaves him unable to form any romantic affair. Shes on rebound from a toxic relationship unable to form any romantic entanglement. They both want casual no relationships. Be careful what you wish for. Remember the song..unanswered prayers and all. Loved them and their story.

What are these 4 and 5 stars reviews!? Have we read the same book, like do you guys truly tink so low of yourself just like the FMC...The writer just had to make her so pathetic and love first and harder. She's wore than a doormat wtf was this?! How can someone read this and go oh my god he's so dreamy after everything he's done we can just forgive him cuz he "changed" a little ☺️... Fuck no. HAVE SOME SELF-RESPECT
Write a story with an FMC with an actual backbone and a man who deserves her or at least works to deserve her. No one knows what grovel is anymore, and they always allow their MMCs to say the most heinous crap and all they have to do is say some flowery words one time, all is good. Women are more than their sexual desires. They can demand respect and wait for it before they allow a man to get away with horrible words just because he makes her heart race.
Recklessly You is Liam and Sophie's story a sad pull at your heartstrings romance with a strong plot likeable character's plenty of drama and a smoking hot heat level making this a very enjoyable reading experience.

It’s nice, but after I read this, the lack of dignity of the FMC makes my depression come back. I enjoy the steamy and the character's development, but for gods sake the woman in this book is spineless, she didn’t need just therapy, she needs a exorcisme! Said all that, I gonna read more of this author. Sometimes you just need more medication.
The story line is overall good. I think its relatedable for many women. However, there were many times when I read duplicate sentences. During the chapter, there were duplicated paragraphs. This book definitely needed another set of edits done before being published.
OMG! OMG! Liam and Sophie! I felt everything , you had emotions I was crying, laughing, smiling all over the place. I really felt Liam's trauma as he was a child you had me with that. I felt bad for Sophie and past relation, but I loved how they had a attraction from the first moment. I will most likely reread before the next Delgado Brother comes out!
I really loved this! The characters, the angst, the spice, all of it! Dual POV keeps the perfect pace and makes it hard to put down. Definitely a good, quick read with all the feels and will stick with you. Leaves you needing to know all the “Delgado Brothers” and their stories.
This story is about Liam and Sophie who have both been burned in the past. They both want a no strings attached agreement but what happens when ones feels more than the agreed? This is a good story with some emotional aspects and fears of the main characters.
This book was cute but it was so predictable. Also where is the groveling?? After one paragraph of him saying sorry she is flinging herself into his arms what the fuhh.. 3rd act breakup ✅ BUT other then that the book was cute I loved and Liam Sophie until the end
Sophie was exactly what Liam needed. At the time he didn’t realize it. It took almost losing her to finally give in to his love for her. They had so much chemistry.
The grovel was non existent. To me this whole relationship was just sex like I felt no connection between these two🫤. I got so bored like half way through but I wanted to finish it and💀.
