Wow! This was a fun book to read.
Please check TW before reading this book as there are a few.
Pisces Blessed follows Callie (also known as Calliope or Calypso) who was orphaned as a child. When we meet her, she is working at a strip club but really only as a waitress. She definitely could dance, but dislikes being the center of attention.
Working one night, she meets the MMC: Sebastian. Sebastian is half fae and half human. In this magic system that means Sebastian basically has 2 different people inside him with one always fighting for control. His fae side is Unseelie, who are dark fae. I thought it was really refreshing that he wasn't described as being like 6'4 (not that there's anything wrong with that), he was more "not too short, not too tall". No spoilers, but Sebastian makes terrible choices with how he treats Callie. This is where a lot of the TW come in the story.
As we get further into the book, we meet Garrick (also known as Dartannian later on) who is a gentlemanly elf prince *swoon*. After the hurtful behavior from Sebastian, Garrick was a welcome addition to the story. After this, some crazy sh*t happens, Callie learns some wild facts about herself, and eventually there is a HEA.
All in all, I was thoroughly entertained throughout the book. It is a shorter book, so there wasn't a lot of time to explain the MMCs backstories, but we do get some information on them that is relevant to the story. The magic system was a little confusing at first, but I do think that the plot and context clues helped a lot.
The spice started at about 30% (perfection) and there is a plot twist right around 50% (again, perfection). The spice was *chef's kiss*.
Just something personal that I loved about this book was the Sleep Token song that Callie danced to. I love Sleep Token, so it was cool to see them in a book. As Callie said about them: "Where do they get off sounding so f*cking enchanting and haunting in the same breath?" Callie girl, same.
My zodiac sign is also Pisces, so that was another fun element to the story that I enjoyed.
I am grateful to have received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
