In a moment of weakness I sent out a cry for help—one that was answered by my estranged brother’s right-hand man. A murderer. A butcher. He storms into my life with his expensive suit pockets full of sedatives and cable ties in case I don’t approve of his form of protection. Let me assure you, I don’t. But when my world falls apart and I have nowhere else to go, I’m forced to escape with him. To an isolated house. Just me and him. Alone. And it quickly becomes clear that the monstrous people I’ve been afraid of are nothing in comparison to the man in the room next door to mine.
A standalone novel in the bestselling, seductively thrilling Hunting Her series.
the heroine had zero self preservation. none. zilch. nada.
and the second hand embarrassment i got from her desperation for bishop 🤚🏻i’m sick🤢. lost count how many times she begged him to touch her. please is said 60 fucking times???PATHETIC
you just found out where your daughters located and your mother is on her way to kill her but your begging the hero to fuck you instead of running to her?? she was right about not deserving to be a mother😭🤚🏻
3 stars are solely for bishop. i need his level of unhinged and protectiveness. that man was FERAL.
WOW, WHAT A RIDE! And hello to Bishop.. the current king of red flags 🚩 and my new book boyfriend 😏
Let me just say, and judge me all you want idc, I’d swoon if a man did this for me in real life 🤣 He murders for her and would literally die for her.. what more could a girl ask for?!
I will admit that I wasn’t so sure about Bishop in the beginning but damn did he win me over! He just gets better and better as the book goes on. It took me a bit longer to warm up to Abri but mostly because I was waiting so impatiently to know her motive behind everything she had done. And holy crap was that a doozy. 🤯 I didn’t see any of that coming, and that’s what I loved most about this book. I literally had no idea what was going to happen next!
THAT ENDING THO 😍🥰😭😭 Be sure to download the bonus epilogue because Bishop’s POV was everything I could have hoped for and more. 🥰
I absolutely loved this and read it so quickly. This was unlike any other mafia romance book that I've ever read.
Tropes ~ Mafia Romance ~ Touch her and die ~ Single mother ~ Forced proximity ~ Brother's best friend ~ Psychopath male main character
At the start of this, I didn't really understand Abri's motives or why she does what she does, but that's answered around ~30% into the book, and then everything made more sense. I am obsessed with Bishop. His possessiveness of Abri was so hot, and I loved his relationship with Tilly. He's a psycho but he's obsessed with Abri, and I was here for it. I also loved seeing Abri rebuild her relationship with her brothers/uncle throughout this story.
The one thing that was a bit weird for me is that I didn't realize this book was in a series, and I felt like I had clearly missed some background, especially about Matthew and Layla. It was also confusing to me that Matthew was sometimes referred to as Langston...it took me awhile to figure out that they were the same character.
This is a pretty action-packed book. It starts off quickly and then right in the middle, there's a ton of smut back-to-back, and then there's a lot of action for the rest of the book. It kind of made sense with the story that it was set up like that though, so I was good with it.
I'd definitely recommend this book if you like dark romance and/or mafia romance books. I've never read one with a similar story to this. Also did I say that I love Bishop so much?
Just FYI, there are heavy triggers in this book including sexual assault, rape, mention of pedophilia/sexual slavery/child prostitution, graphic violence, torture, murder, etc. so check trigger warnings before diving in!
I received an ARC copy of this book, and I'm so grateful for it! I loved it!
I’m not usually one for mafia romances but wow was this good! The character development is great and the story is extremely well written. It was also a quick and engaging story from page 1!
The way I SPED through this book (well every book in this series?!)
Eden has a style of writing that truely just grips you in - her books are page turners, with enough plot twists sprinkled throughout rather than just dumped in the last 20% - it keeps you hooked and excited from the get go.
If you’re someone who craves a Grumpy, Possessive, Touch her and you die (literally) MMC - Bishop is the man for you. He is equal parts witty and intelligent. The clap backs in this book had me laughing out loud.
Abri, our FMC, is a complex character defined equally by her childhood trauma and the strength she has to live with and push through it every day. The way her character develops over the course of the book is beautiful.
The feisty nature of their relationship kept up until the very last page and I LOVED that, because even when he became obsessed, they didn’t lose the spark.
The plot base of this book was emotional and whilst it had similar themes to book 6 of the series, it still managed to feel unique!
I received this book as an ARC from Eden Summers, but all opinions are my own!
I absolutely devoured this book! Not a single crumb remained. I love a dual POV and a touch her and die MMC. Bishop's morally black personality and his internal monologue had me giddy and giggly to the highest levels. Abri was hard to get a grasp on at the beginning but everything made perfect sense a little ways in. She was such an interesting FMC, and Eden's writing style keeps you hooked on her characters' story and development. Both characters are battling their pasts and it was such a beautiful journey to read. It definitely hit me with all of the feels. It has quite a few of my favorite tropes. Definitely recommend it if you like dark romance/mafia romance and the following:
Morally black MMC Brother's best friend Forced proximity Touch her and die Who did this to you Bodyguard
My favorite part about this book is that it is consistently entertaining throughout. I'm not a big mafia romance reader but this one got me hooked. This was actually my first Eden Summers book and I will definitely be reading all of the books in this series!
first I’d like to thank the author for sending me this ARC. I’m reviewing this on my own terms and giving my honest opinion.
this story follows Bishop known as the butcher who has been sent to protect his best friends sister, Abri. Abri is not having it and refuses to have Bishop’s protection.
—————————————— 🔪🖤
my thoughts 💭 :
the beginning was a bit slow but it definitely picked up after the 15% mark. there was so much mystery especially with Abri’s character. when she didn’t want bishop’s protection, I was literally yelling at my kindle asking her if she’s dumb BUT when you find out her reasons I’m like, well damn that makes sense. the plot in this book was good. I literally cried towards the end. the tension between the characters was so damn HOT!! I was literally blushing.
abri is such a strong character. everything she went through and for who she did it for makes her a strong ass woman. her character growth is my favorite.
bishop is literally HOT! like he’s a grumpy asshole and I LOVE him for that. I will say there were some things in the beginning that he said that had me cringing lol. but I love him. the way he’s protective towards abri even though he swear he “hates” her. obsessed w him.
now the things I didn’t really like was that I felt like I didn’t get a good description with the characters 🤷🏻♀️ I know they got blue eyes and that abri has blonde hair but I wanted more details so I can picture them better.
also it’s said to be a stand-alone BUT I personally feel that you should read the rest of the books prior to this one bc there were characters in here that had me wanting to know their story.
overall this was such a good read & I absolutely adored it. it had me feeling so many emotions.
read this if you like :
- brothers best friend - forced proximity - mafia - touch her & die (literally) - he’s a butcher and she’s a mafia princess
‼️tw : grooming, panic attacks, torture & death.
🎧 songs to listen to while reading this :
- dangerous woman | ariana grande - mad woman | taylor swift - pov | ariana grande - shameless | camila cabello - die for you | The Weeknd
2.5 I honestly wanna know wtf people are reading like Ik we all read the same book but wtf we all read different books. It started out good but then idk like half the time I was pissed, EVERYONE IN THIS BOOK ANNOYED ME, except for bishop love him but sometimes he was annoying. U don’t really see anyone’s relationship with anyone it so weird and boring
Bishop is the ninth standalone book in the Hunting Her series by Eden Summers.
This is the first mafia romance I’ve ever rated five stars. Eden is an incredibly gifted writer, giving us a fast paced, plot heavy story that flowed cohesively from start to finish. So many times with Mafia novels, I feel like I’m reading a different version of the same old story and plot but that wasn’t the case at all with Eden’s book.
Bishop and Abri were written as a spectacular couple! The evolution of the two both as individual people and together as a couple, were breathtaking to read. We’ve got a strong FMC, bodyguard/anti-hero, enemies to lovers, touch her and die tropes as well as some killer plot twists and unbridled passion. Really, an exquisitely written rollercoaster of a novel.
I’ve only read Seeking Redemption of this series, but I will definitely be reading the rest of the books. Eden Summers has definitely earned a new fan with me.
I received an advanced reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.
When mafia murder man, Bishop, has to protect his best friend’s sister, Adri, the two become stuck together in a house in the middle of nowhere.
I couldn’t put this book down!! I was sucked in from chapter one. I love Bishop and all of his morally black persona — he’s a bad dude, a murderer, and definitely a psychopath, but I couldn’t help but fall in love. Adri is a complex character who has really been through the ringer, and I loved seeing her full character arc and her grow — not to mention she’s a bad bitch! I loved their story, and I loved this fast paced, action packed, spicy mafia book!! I wanted a little more spice in this book, but the feels made up for it.
Tropes: enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, morally black mmc, mafia, forced proximity, touch her and you die
TW: assault, murder
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️
Thank you to Eden for sending me an ARC of this book. 🥰
This was darker than other books I’ve read by her so please check out content warnings and proceed with caution. Perfectly spicy, had some slow burn. What is it about mafia men that makes me go so absolutely FERRAL?! Bishop is such a daddy and just the possessive king I was in need of 🥵🥵
This series was my first mafia romance series and i didn't realise this book had come ouuut!! BISHOP AND ABRI'S STORY YESSS!!! I have been craving for it since i read the previews book almost 2 years agooo LET'S GOOOO
Sent to protect his best friends sister, Bishop doesn’t expect Abri to full out refuse what he’s offering, but a job is a job whether she likes it or not, no matter how impossible she makes things he’s not leaving.
Butting heads with a ‘bodyguard’ she never wanted is the last thing Abri needs, especially when he doesn’t understand what’s at stake. But time reveals all, and the more she’s around him the harder it is to resist what he offers.
The story TORE ME UP for better and for worse 🥹 Abri has some next level claws and I KNEW I was gonna be loving her the moment she said “taser” and “balls in the same sentence. Bishop gives as good as he gets - I’m talking deadly banter, flanter, the works, and when you add the heat to their verbal sparring, well, expect puddles of the heart and the 🐱
I received this as an ARC and this is my unbiased review
First off, I was enamored with this book in the beginning. I couldn’t get enough of Abri and Bishops chemistry, it was off the charts! I think Eden did a great job at crafting Abri’s character because many authors tend to make strong FMC’s unbearable and cliche but Abri truly was a strong, resilient and fierce woman.
And Bishop..my grumpy, foul mouthed scary man, he was hysterical. So many times I was cracking up bc his dialogue, whether it was inner or speaking, was absolutely hilarious. He’s such an arrogant smart a$$ and I loved it.
This was shaping up to be a 5 star read without a doubt but when I hit around 61% and THE SCENE happened the way it did, I was not a fan at all. I thought it was completely out of left field and out of character. There’s a huge rush and panic to get a certain something back (bc it’s incredibly time sensitive) but we make time for THAT?! All the build up, tension and not to mention Bishops own beliefs surrounding the act, I expected a better ‘coming together’ scene from this story. Something more monumental.
Also, what was up with Lorenzo wanting to keep Adena alive? After everything she had done to literally EVERYONE, he still has a soft spot for her? No thank you
As it stands, I’m glad I read it and I had a good time but the last 40/30% kinda dampened the book for me as a whole and left me disappointed.
Don’t know where these raving reviews are coming from, not the same book I just tried to read. Absolutely could not stand the FMC - I know she wasn’t born into an easy life but I wanted to punch her. Felt nothing for the MMC
4.5/5 Stars ARC received in exchange for an honest review
To say that I love Bishop the MC is an understatement. If you want a protective but grumpy anti-hero who will literally kill anyone who touches the FMC here you go.
The Book sets off right after the ending of Ruthless Redemption (Book 8 which is a Duet). It says the Book can be read as a Standalone, but I think it’s worth reading Book 7/8, where Bishop and Ari were first introduced, to avoid confusion. Therefore the Book gets right into it with Bishop being sent to watch over Abri while she is not having it at all.
About the FMC Abri: At the beginning of the Book, I absolutely didn’t understand Abri at all. The only thing I thought of was „Is she dumb?!“. But after her motives were revealed it made so much sense why she was acting the way she did. Definitely, a big plus point for the plot because I would have never expected what had happened to her. She is a very strong and stubborn character which makes the whole forced proximity setting so so good. But at the same time due to her trauma, she was a very likable character.
About the MC Bishop: Like many of Eden Summers MMC Bishop was just perfect. He was so patient with Abri and so protective of her even though she tried to push him away so many times. Bishop radiates confidence and calmness and is therefore the perfect counterpart to Abri. With him being the butcher he definitely is a morally grey character but for all the right reasons. He knows exactly how Abri is and will do anything to make sure she is happy and doesn’t make any mistakes.
The Spice was definitely good especially that one scene I think you all know which one I’m talking about;) It was just so twisted and dark. I do wish that we would have gotten another spice scene after the whole thing with Tilly but I get it why it didn’t come to one.
Maybe the only thing I didn’t like that much in the book is that there was a very limited amount of description for the characters which made it hard for me to imagine them in my head.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review: 4 Stars, 2.5 chili peppers! Anddddd this book got me out of my reading slump!
This book gave me major Made Series vibes - so if you liked The Sweetest Oblivion, The Maddest Obsession, and the Darkest Temptation, I’m confident that you’ll love this book, too! I don’t read a ton of mafia, but I feel like I’m about to go on a mafia book binge after reading this.
Bishop was the epitome of “touch her and die” vibes, even though it’s also an enemies to lovers. Literally - he asked her on multiple occasions for lists of men who have used/wronged her so he could kill them. Fitting considering he is one of the two “butchers of Baltimore” in the East Coast Italian mafia. There were a few occasions in the book, too, where even though he is sent to protect Abri, she bests him… and I just felt like that was kind of endearing for his character. His nickname for Abri is “belladonna,” which essentially is a poisonous flower - we all know I am an absolute sucker for a pet name!
Abri was such a strong and independent FMC. It was really interesting to read about her character development in learning how to rely on and trust a man.
Overall, I will definitely be reading more books in this series. (Can be read as a stand-alone, even though it is part of an interconnected series). I really enjoyed this book!
Potential spoilers: There were a few microtropes in this book that I absolutely loved. He is the only one who is able to help her through panic attacks, he helps her get sober from drugs, he basically saved her from being SA’d, and he came out of (essentially) celibacy just to be with her.
The Hunter Her series has been a fascinating and thrilling ride so I was ecstatic when I discovered Bishop was getting a book! Bishop is Book 9 in this series can be read as standalone. I really enjoyed this fast-paced mafia romance as it is full of steam, action, and suspense along with dark undertones. Heartbreaking at times, this novel kept me on the edge of my seat. One of the things that I love about this author’s books is that she creates perfectly flawed characters. They are relatable, exasperating at times, and make mistakes, but they are also strong and likable.
Bishop is what one would expect with an alpha hero in that he is both possessive and fiercely protective. There is an aura of danger that surrounds him, but Abri shows no fear in her encounters with him. In fact, she is a feisty heroine that has no qualms about going head-to-head with him. Early on in the novel, Abri appears to be a bit of a hot mess yet full of grit. Exceptionally resilient with a devastating backstory, she is a truly is a strong character. Abri and Bishop have a rocky start with butting heads and pushing each other’s buttons. However, as their relationship evolves and they learn more about each other, I could really see their connection and palpable chemistry. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Bishop and I cannot wait to see what this author has in store for us readers next!
I voluntarily read an early version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
This màfia romance was to dïè for, literally this man had the obsessive hurt/touch her and dïè vibes I needed.
Although this book was considered a stand-alone it is apart of the hunting her series so it is better to read the whole series but if you pick this up straight away you won’t miss any main points as Eden has covered the parts that won’t leave you feeling you need to read the other books prior.
Bishop has been sent to protect his best friends sister - the siren who manipulates men with her body to get what her mafia dad wants but nothing is as it seems and when bishop realised the truth the trauma bonding is exactly what these two need to overcome everything.
If you love: Màfia Touch her & dïe vibes Forced proximity Obsessed/ psychotic MMC Strong FMC Cameo’s from side characters from the series Book 9 in the series
This is the first book that I've read from this author and it's a great read. This is book 9 in this series and can be read as a standalone. This is a mafia romance book with touch her and die vibes that I loved.
Ari is a strong and fiesty woman who takes non crap. Bishop is an alpha male who is very protective and he's been sent to protect his best friends sister. They both have a lot of emotion and a lot has happened for them both and once all the truth is revealed it will all be different.
This book is full of romantic suspense, steamy, angsty and is a book that is full of twists and turns and revenge and forgiveness. I loved the characters and the story line and I love how Bishop is and how protective he is and I love the banter between them. They have a great connection and great chemistry between them both
I look forward to reading more books in this series.
I loved this characters and I loved this plot. Bishop is the perfect book boyfriend and is just the right amount of unhinged and protective for my taste.
The first 25% of this book I almost DNF'd though because I was hating the FMC. She was acting really stupid and making all of these terrible decisions and I had a really hard time wanting to root for her. There is a large reveal that happens at around 27% that made me keep reading. It is something that didn't need to be kept from the reader and it felt like a weird decision from the author.
While I did enjoy reading this book, it took forever for me to read. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't reading this as fast as I normally finish a book. That is until I saw that this book is almost 600 pages.
If this book would have only been 400 pages, and didn't have the weird "FMC keeping a secret from the reader" trope (I think I made that trope up) at the beginning this would have been a 5 star read.
When I tell y'all I ate this book up. Devoured it. No crumbs.
Eden just has a certain style of writing that has you hooking, unable to put down any of her books. This series is probably my favourite mafia romance series I've ever read.
When I looked it up on Amazon, it told me the kindle edition of Bishop is 546 pages....y'all I read this book in two days. I literally could not stop reading. IT WAS SO GOOD.
Right from the moment Bishop was introduced, I knew that if he got his own book, I would love it. He's grumpy, possessive, and quite literally the embodiment of "touch her and you die" - we get several examples of this hehe. Abri on the other hand whilst also deadly in her own ways, has her share of trauma. She fights Bishop every step of the way and he gives as good as he gets. Abri and Bishop were just the perfect match for each other.
Not going to lie, I'm definitely hoping that Bishop and Abri get a second book, even though I know that's probably unlikely - but a gal can hope!
I was held hostage by this book! I read it in one sitting and completely fell in love with the characters.
Forced proximity Enimes to lovers You're mine Touch her and... Mental health/anxiety rep Morally grey mmc
“That’s a goddamn lie. You want to be saved as much as I want to save you.”
“I claimed you. You’re mine. Stay safe or I’ll kill you myself.”
I felt all the emotions with this read, and Abri is such a strong character. I relate to her in many ways, and her emotions were so well written that I felt each one of them in my soul. Bishop is a strong, hot-headed alpha male that's only soft for her, and it's hard not to root for him.
The book is fast-paced and plot heavy. It keeps getting better as the story unfolds sucking you in further. I highly recommend this one!
