Ivy Grove was a ghost hunter gold mine. At least, that’s what Skyler and his twin brother believe when traveling to the sleepy little town for their ghost hunting web series. Their goal? Investigate the notoriously haunted Lockton Asylum.
Paxton doesn’t like people. Well, living ones. His ghost best friend—and housemate—is the only one he lets down his guard with. Working as a guide at Ivy Grove Ghost Tours is the extent of his socializing, and he likes it that way. When he’s assigned to be the tour guide for the Knox Brothers, twins with a popular ghost hunting show, his quiet life gets a bit… well, complicated. The reason? Skyler freaking Knox and his dumb, ridiculously pretty face. And his rock-hard abs.
Lockton Asylum, with its dark history and tragic past, brings Skyler and Paxton together in unexpected ways. The simple investigation becomes much more involved—and dangerous—when they begin to unravel the mysteries surrounding the asylum... and when they encounter the dark entities that dwell within the walls.
Romance, vengeful ghosts, and… donuts with sprinkles? Who said love couldn’t have all three? For this ghost hunter and tour guide, this is one investigation neither will ever forget.
The Haunting of Lockton is Book 3 in the Ivy Grove series with opposites attract, an introvert with a love for old Victorian costumes, a charming goofball with a killer smile, a lot of donuts and coffee, sarcasm, ghosts, and a mystery that will keep you guessing. And maybe with a bit of spice sprinkled on top.

Review with more details to come, just put my list in order.
This series is so good!!! I really hate that the two previous books had such a bad covers. I got lucky that I was bored and pick up the first. This series is the perfect Halloween / spookie season read
“Back then, you realized I wanted something more before I could even admit it to myself. After so many years, I’m finally ready to go after what I want”.
I loved this story so much. Jaclyn Osborn has me hooked. Each book gets better and better. The secondary characters are interesting and fun. Each chapter had me completely enthralled from start to finish. I want to live in Ivy Grove.
So glad Jaclyn Osborn wrote another book for this series. I had it on my ‘unfinished series’ list since 2021 🥹
Instead of a ghost and human pairing like the other two books have, this one is human and human pairing, with ghosts mingled in as either a best friend or included in the investigation of Lockton Asylum. Humans can be kind of predictable so this story was easy to map out. It was easy to figure out early on how it would unfold, but it was still really enjoyable.
I adored Alan, Paxton’s ghost of a best friend. Alan was the sweetest ever. Can you imagine waking up every morning to the best cup of coffee in the world? I need an Alan in my life. I also need his full story. I want to know more about his struggles and death during World War I. I want to know more about his finding out he liked boys and wishing he could have that despite the time. I want to see him fall in love in the here and now. cough Julian cough
I appreciated the homage to Supernatural. I just recently did a rewatch of the show and loved seeing them mentioned in this. Mostly Skyler teasing his twin brother Julian. It was fitting. It was kind of cool even from the beginning with the mention of the lady in white that haunts a certain route. That’s pretty much how the show started.
Anyway, I also had an appreciation for Jaclyn not having written long drawn out sex scenes for this. It makes sense that these two characters would hook up a lot since they believe they have limited time together and they also have an insane attraction to one another. I’m glad the focus wasn’t just on that. After their first time the other times we’re all like two to three paragraphs if that when mentioned. The focus stayed on the plot, character development and other such things. Major respect and appreciation for that.
Overall I really enjoyed this and I hope to see more in the future. I’ll wait another few years I don’t care, as long as we keep getting them 👻
GAH…I’m a happy crying mess here,so good! I was a bawling mess a lot more because my heart went out to the ghosts of Lockton, it was heartbreaking… Alan, my heart…. I cried for him too… Besides all the crying, I smiled, swooned and had a happy heart and a few creepy and probably screaming “no” a few times. The book was definitely a page turner with suspense, heartache, romance and brotherly love. I so loved Paxton and Skyler! Perfect couple and I’m happy they can stay together and get the happy they deserve. Now Julian(love him too) needs a story please, maybe with Alan ( but idk b/c he turned down Pax b/c ghost/human),so does Taylor/ Calum ;) .Loved The book!!
I wasn't expecting another book in this series, but I am pleased that we got one. The excitement was good, the tension high, the cuteness between Paxton and Skyler was cute-ing. It also had a good ending, and gave the chance to see past characters after their own happily ever after.
I loved the first two books in this series but this book fell flat and Skylar was so unlikeable. I have no idea what either of these 2 MC's saw in each other, their 'love story' was the most unrealistic part of a book about ghosts. Honestly, so many other couples would have been more enjoyable to read about, such as Alan and Julian (the actual likeable twin), Callum and Taylor or even Roy and Owen. I'd have rather this not have any romance and just been about the asylum and ghost hunting than forcing a love story between two characters who had zero chemistry. I gave this 3 stars because I enjoyed everything else about the book just not the romance. If Alan/Julian or Taylor/Callum get a book I'll continue the series otherwise I'll pass.
After really enjoying the first two books in this series I have been eagerly awaiting this book and I wasn’t disappointed.
There were plenty of ghosts and paranormal activity, a spirit with a very black soul, ghosts that made me want to cry for their suffering and lots of hot men and humour.
Twins Skylar and Julian are ghost hunters and they make a decent living out of posting their findings on social media and having millions of subscribers. They find themselves in Ivy Grove after being told by Valentina who runs Ivy Grove Ghost Tours that it is a very “special” place with more than its fair share of haunted buildings and working with the Knox twins could only be good for business.
Paxton, a shy introverted guy who shares his home with Alan, a WW1 ghost, works for Val as a tour guide and as one his tours takes him to the creepy Lockton Asylum Val asks him to show the twins around. A lot of awful things happened to the patients of Lockton who were treated no better than lab rats.
As soon as Skylar and Paxton meet there is an undercurrent of attraction although Paxton thinks someone as outgoing and gorgeous as Skylar would never be attracted to him.
The book is a page turner with plenty of heartbreakingly spooky goings on and a few that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. It was also lovely to catch up with Carter and his husband Zeke and Callum who was very much involved with Zeke’s fate in the last book. I love the friendly Taylor and I hope Callum puts him out of his misery in the next book. You can feel he is attracted to the lovelorn Taylor.
I’m also wondering what is going on with Alan and Julian. Alan has been hiding whenever Julian is around although he is happy to materialise in front of Skylar. Julian has special gifts and although he doesn’t know how to use them yet he is already very powerful.
I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it if you like paranormal stories interlaced with romance.
We finally got book 3 and let me tell you, this one was a rollercoaster of a ride. I think out of the whole series this one really is the scariest, but it's not really close to horror at all. I loved the twins, I loved their relationship and their interactions. I really liked Paxton too and his relationship with Alan. Now Sky & Pax? Yeah, they're adorable together. Sky definitely reminded me of Carter too from book Two, which btw, Zeke & Carter married? Swoon!
Now to on to the scary stuff. Yikes a bee. Asylums always freak me out, I mean come on, so much stuff happens in those places and back in the day they were absolutely brutal, so of course it would be super haunted. . No way I'd willingly walk into a place like that.
I feel like this book was a good balance for me of sweet and sexy times and scary, it didn't lean to heavily either way. I liked the way it played out and I liked the end because it wasn't a happy fix, all is well now type of thing. I'm also utterly intrigued once again by Callum, I need to know what his story is so I'm hoping for another installment to this series. This is a solid Halloween read for sure. When I thought The Curse of Redwood went to a dark place, it had absolutely nothing on The Haunting of Lockton. The things that transpired at Lockton were horrific - and heartbreakingly historically accurate. This was an incredibly hard read for me. But I'm so glad I kept going, while being mindful to check in with myself, and take beaks when needed.
Skylar and Paxton's story was very different from the other two books in this series. It made things very interesting! And with the introduction of Skylar and Julian, twin paranormal investigators, I felt like it opened this trilogy up to the possibility of more. (I hope there's more! But only time will tell.)
Paxton's best friend for most of his life is the ghost of a WWI soldier, which puts Paxton in the position of being incredibly receptive and believing of the things Skylar and Julian encounter.
I loved that this book had a dual POV. We haven't seen that from the other two books in this series, which was a pleasant surprise. I got to watch as Skylar and Paxton fell in love with each other, and how they developed and strengthened their relationship.
While this book, from my understanding, is the finale of the Ivy Grove trilogy, I feel like there are more characters to explore, and more stories to uncover. I don't feel like we're done here. But I can see that we're done for now.
I'll be keeping an eye out for updates from Jaclyn Osborn. She's quickly become one of my favourite authors, and I'm definitely excited for anything new in the works while I visit the rest of her library!
This was very sweet, with a couple little 'uh-oh' moments with the ghosts involved. It was heartbreaking reading about the hell those poor patients went through at the hands of those who were supposed to be helping them. Such sadistic, depraved minds having that power....*shakes head*
But, the love story was cute. Paxton was shy in public, but a bit growly behind closed doors. And Skyler was all cocky and arrogant in front of the cameras for his show, but off-screen, he was vulnerable, had so much guilt, such insecurities. Both seemed closed off for different reasons, but managed to come together and share parts of themselves they hadn't before.
The secondary characters were also fun. It was nice getting to seem some familiar faces--though, admittedly, it's been a while since I read the first two books, so it took a while to remember even just a little bit; gonna have to go back and reread!--and getting to meet Julian....now there's an interesting character! I'll be curious to see if he gets his own story. Also curious if Taylor and Callum will, as well.
A few editing errors (In one chapter, it was Thursday at first, then pages later it was Saturday) but not enough to detract from the hauntingly beautiful story. If there is more to come from this, I will continue on and do recommend it!
4 stars. This was very good. It brought us completely new characters, and I absolutely adored each one. Skyler and Paxton were super cute, but they also shined individually as well. Sky reminded me of Raiden in Jaclyn’s other series, who is one of my favorite characters ever. I’m a sucker for dumb, funny, and kind characters, and Sky definitely fit those characteristics. He and Pax had an opposites attract moment, and they balanced each other. Not only did I enjoy the romance, but I particularly loved the plot around Lockton. The ghosts there were fascinating, and I forgot how good Jaclyn is at incorporating romance into stories with actual plots. Like the romance was important, but there was more to the story than that.
I loved the side characters, especially Julian and Alan. Jules’ banter with Sky was HILARIOUS and felt like genuine siblings. It was great to see Zeke, Carter, Callum, and Taylor again too. Sad that Ben and Theo weren’t there, but I understand that not all characters reappear. I hope that Taylor and Callum get a book of their own and that Julian and Alan do as well. I have an inkling these are potential couple matches.
I absolutely love this series. Being such an absolute chicken, I can only read this book during daylight or else I end up being unable to fall asleep. As though ghosts will know what I'm reading and show up at my house... Still, this is plenty spooky for a chicken like myself. I will even go so far as to say that this one wasn't as spooky as the previous two books. It felt more detached from the evil ghosts somehow.
I cannot wait to read about Callum and Alan, because we all know that at some point those will also be books in this series. The boys mentioned all the other haunted places in Ivy Grove that they can still check out.
I had such a blast while reading this book. I loved Paxton and Skylar. Skylar was such a goofball. Both gave me such warm fuzzy feelings ahhhhh!! I loved the ghost hunter aspect we got here, definitely was a new element that I enjoyed!
And of course the sad ghost story was here. Even tho this book is different in the sense that’s it’s not someone falling in love with a ghost, there’s still a very tragic ghost love story that once again breaks my heart.
I want more PLEASE??? I want Taylor and Callum, I want Julian to have his story. I just want more. More ghost more everything.
I’m sad there was were no cameos from Ben and and Theo 😭 I do feel like with this book we moved into like a different group of people and ghosts that feels disconnected from the first two books. Which isn’t a bad thing but I just like when all the characters come together
😍😍😍 I put off reading this one when it came out, despite having loved the first two in the series, because I was a little disappointed that there wouldn't be any ghostly love in it. Well, silly me. Now that I've finally read it, I AM IN LOVE 😍😍😍 It's quite possibly my favorite in the series now. I just adore both Paxton amd Skyler 🥰 ... but ngl, if we don't get a book for next, I may cry 🤣
Hands down my favorite of all Jaclyn’s books! I loved Paxton, Skyler, and Julian. There was heart, humor, and intrigue. I’m also REALLY hoping for Julian’s book. So much to uncover, so much love to be found. On that note… Taylor needs his own story. Callum? To be discovered.
another scary ghost romance and I loved it. briefly mentioned in second book. ghost hunters Julien & Skyler come see Lockton Paxton is Skyler love interest a tour of haunted sites in Ivy Grove. Yay to more of Taylor cameos of the main crew in the series. love this oh the pining Taylor has for Callum. Will they get a book? idk but they are both really cool characters
I enjoyed this story very much. The characters were interesting and the ghosts suitably creepy. Ivy Grove is a unique place!
I had read the other books in the series but only vaguely remembered them but it wasn’t necessary to know (although I do recommend reading them at some point)
I absolutely love Ivy Grove, these books are the perfect blend of sweet and scary. Jaclyn’s writing is so vivid I found myself hiding under the covers while reading on more than one occasion, but Paxton and Skyler’s love was the perfect counter balance.
Really liked the book. Loved that were new characters but also brought in those from the previous books. However, please, make a happy-end for Theo. Don't leave him as a ghost for another 20 years👻
I liked the couple...and their respective professions, and how they interwind in the current plot. A good read, will not disappoint, if you liked the previous books in the series.
Oh how I was excited to return to Ivy Grove for another spooktacular installment. This time, we’re going ghost hunting with the Knox Brothers and tour guide in the infamous Lockton Asylum, briefly mentioned in The Curse of Redwood.
Book 3 follows Skyler, an avid ghost hunter, that travels the US with his twin brother, Julian, making content for social media and subscribers. It’s during a meeting in Ivy Grove that he meets the awkward and introverted ghost tour guide, Paxton. Little do they know, Paxton has more experience than most, given that he’s lived with one since he was 5.
Despite being filled with lots of horror and nail-biting tension, I found myself laughing along with Skyler and Paxton, and by extension, Julian, who was a big part of the story. Paxton and Skyler’s relationship was adorable and they were absolutely made for each other, and it was so lovely to see Paxton come out of his shell with both the twins.
We also got to see more Taylor, and Callum the witch - who has mysteriously been absent from Ivy Grove for a year. There was also great little snippets of Carter and Zeke - all that was missing were my favourites, Ben and Theo.
The little found family in Ivy Grove warms my heart each time I return, and I’m so excited for Julian’s story. After what we learned in this book, I actually hope we get his story before Callum and Taylor - even if the cinnamon roll jock absolutelu deserves his HEA with a certain brooding witch.
