Childhood rivals, now strangers, collide in a merry mix-up.
Fifteen years ago, Rachel Joy and Holden Hart planted more than just trees; they sowed the seeds of a legendary holiday feud in Snowdrift Summit. Today, those evergreens stand tall, vying for the coveted spot in the annual tree lighting ceremony.
Though Rachel traded small-town life for a San Francisco career, she’s not about to let Holden’s noble fir steal the limelight without a spirited showdown. With her bags packed, she returns home, but the surprise awaiting her might not only challenge her determination but also her heart.
For Holden, teenage clashes with Rachel are a thing of the past, buried beneath a busy winter sports rental business and training his golden retriever for Avalanche Rescue duty. But bantering with a stranger in a local coffeehouse reignites his competitive nature, and as the two become better acquainted, there’s a familiarity neither can ignore.
When true identities are exposed, and meddling families join the fray, old rivalries resurface. With room for only one tree to shine, winning may mean sacrificing a chance for heartfelt reconciliation.
Will a newfound love light up Snowdrift Summit this season? Or will lingering wounds cast a shadow over the prospect of holiday romance?
Rachel and Holten. Sworn enemies as young teens. Competition ruled everything for them. After high school, Rachel left Snowdrift to pursue her dreams to live in the big city. 10 years later, she comes home for the holiday. They both have changed, but the competition continues as this year both families have a tree ready to be chosen for the town square. But Holden and Rachel have changed so much that they don't recognize each other for several meetings. They see a different side to each other. Cute feel good story, but the writing is very choppy. Too many times, the author uses the "like" comparison of one thing to another.
- Enemies to lovers - Christmas romance - Miscommunication
This holiday themed story was sweet without being sappy. The running joke of neither main character knowing the real name of the other was done well and I loved it.
Holden and Rachel were super competitive the whole time they were growing up. However, it's been ten years since then. Rachel has come home to help her parents prepare for the town's annual Christmas festivities. Her father is sure his tree is going to be picked this year to decorate the town's display. Holden's father is sure his tree will win.
Holden and Rachel meet again at the local coffee shop, but they don't recognize each other, nor do they exchange names. But they do feel an attraction and meet up to do some casual activities, such as gathering mistletoe for Rachel to research for a presentation.
I kept giggling at the fact that they were both feeling awkward about not knowing the other's name...
This book had all of the feelings that say holiday to me. Just loved it.

This was a very sweet Christmas book. This is about two people who knew each other when they were younger and their families are rivals.
This story takes place in what’s called Snowdrift Summit. It is about this woman named Rachel Joy. Fifteen years ago Rachel Joy and a guy named Holden Hart sowed the seeds of a legendary holiday feud in Snowdrift Summit. Their trees are vying for a coveted spot in the annual tree lighting ceremony 🎄.
Rachel however traded her small-town life for a San Francisco career. She doesn’t want to Holden’s tree to steal the spotlight without a showdown. She returns to Snowdrift Summit and Holden doesn’t realize who she is and vice versa. Holden’s teenage squabbles with Rachel are a thing of the past. He works at a winter sports rental business as well as training his golden retriever for Avalanche Rescue duty. Holden meets a woman not knowing that it is Rachel in a local coffeehouse. They become better acquainted with each other. When their identities are exposed and their meddling families join in old rivalries surface. This book was sweet and funny. I enjoyed reading this book.
Two teenagers chose to be competitive with everything instead of acknowledging their feelings. Jump ahead ten years and they’ve matured a bit and may have outgrown that competitive itch. Rachel is home for the holidays and a much needed break from her busy job in San Francisco. Holden runs an adventure/rental shop while training his pup for search and rescue. You couldn’t ask for a more manly man with a sweet and caring nature as him. The story is perfect for the holidays, it’s a lovely romance with a few other relationships getting rekindled and the town takes care of each other. I can see spin off possibilities or a series of other amazing stories, so I’ll be checking for updates. My copy came from the author and I’ve given my review voluntarily.
Rachel receives a phone call from her dad about singing to their Christmas tree. He believes this is the year they will be chosen to be the town's Christmas tree in the square this year. However, she hears that her nemesis's family is also thinking they have a chance to have their tree as the chosen tree. When she arrives in town, neither recognize each other since they both have changed a lot since high school. But once they find out, can they continue to be friends or will they go back to being enemies?
Good characters. It did take me a little bit to get into the boo, but once I did I enjoyed it.

Rachel and Holden have known each other for years. They have constantly been in competition with each other always trying to prove who was best. What they failed to see was that in fact they were best together and best for each other. Now they are back in their hometown and spending time together. Everyone expects they to be in a challenge with the town Christmas tree but since it has been about 10+ years since they have spent time together they realize that they could care less about who wins the competition. What matters most is who wins whose heart and can they figure out a way to have a happily ever after this time.

Rachel and Holden and their families have been in competition for years. She’s been away working in at job she no longer loves trying to find a way to sell fake mistletoe when she returns for the holidays to help her family win the tree competition. She gets close to Buddy not realizing he’s her high school nemesis. There were some back and forth between them and the families. I enjoyed reading about their winter and holiday experiences and loved Holden’s sweet in training search and rescue dog.
I got this book on audio, and it was really well written and really well read. Since I'm on the road quite often, it is easy to listen to, and because I enjoyed it, I played it at home. Rachel Joy and Holden Hart knew each other 15 years ago. They were always in competition. When Rachel finally returned home, she didn't look like she used to, and skinny Holden had also grown up. Before they found out who they actually were, they had become friends. Then, the fun starts with how close they actually became.
I always look forward to a holiday book by Megan Squires. They always have such an uplifting and heartwarming quality about them. Homegrown Holiday is a fabulous read. I loved Rachel and Holden and the charming storyline that has you in on the connection the two have that they do not realize. I absolutely loved this read!
Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Constant competitors Rachel and Holden meet again when she finally returns to her hometown for Christmas. They immediately connect but neither one recognizes the other. They do not share names and call each other by nicknames. But, can romance and love thrive and grow when truth is revealed? It all depends on the strength of lifelong dreams and brave choices. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Homegrown Holiday is a stand-alone, sweet, festive read. Rachel and Holden used to be enemies. Fifteen years later they met again but neither recognises the other. Friendship and maybe more blossoms before they realise they actually do know each other.
The characters are good. I adore Scout the dog. The enemies to lover storyline is a bit predictable but it is still a good read for fans of this genre. If you want an easy to read festive book then I recommend this.
As someone who enjoys a good holiday romance, I found the book to be a cozy and engaging read. It's perfect for curling up with on a cold winter's night, offering a mix of nostalgia, romance, and the magic of Christmas. The story emphasizes the importance of following one's heart and the courage it takes to make life-changing decisions, making it not just a romance, but a tale of personal growth and bravery.
The years since high school to adulthood changed both Rachel Joy and Holden Hart in looks and attitude. Fierce competitors and pretty much sworn enemies during their teen years, caused a mini-Hatfield and McCoy reaction between their families. It was a war over who had the tree that would one day take it's place as the town of Snowdrift Summit's Christmas tree of the year. It's the case of two enemies meeting again after many years of being apart and what can come of that! It was a nice story, although there were parts that I wanted to "help" it along some.
When they were young Holden and Rachel only knew how to compete against each other, the very idea of working together was outrageous. As adults they are still having a hard time breaking that habit but maturity and chemistry have them more willing to change. I enjoyed Holden and Rachel and their crazy mixed up feelings, and the sweet romance.
What a sweet, touching romance! The story line was funny, lighthearted and entertaining. This heartwarming book was easy to read and full of wonderful characters. Puts you in the mood for hot cocoa, a crackling fire and holiday season.

The first book in the Snowdrift Summit series. Fifteen years ago, Rachel Joy and Holden Hart started the legendary holiday feud in Snowdrift Summit, now she is back to do so again. The story is well written with a good storyline that held my interest. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A fun start to a new series! I enjoyed this enemies to lover's storyline. I liked how these characters who had been enemies and spent their childhood competing against each other didn't even realize they were spending time together as adults and starting to fall for each other. It's a clean romance with lots of humor and heart. Looking forward to more visits to Snowdrift Summit!
What a wonderful love story. I love enemies turned sweethearts.. Holden and Rachel have a long history of rivalry. If only they were aware of the true motivation behind it all. What a fantastic holiday read this is. I've never read a book by this author before, and I'm eager to read more. This book is fantastic; Megan Squires did a great job writing it.
Overall, I loved this book! It was a little long for my taste, but I honestly believe all the details were necessary in making the connection with the characters the author was able to build and share with us as readers. By the end, I felt like I wanted to live in Snowdrift!
This is a good story with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. Both main characters begin their adult life with little understanding of what was begun in their teens.
I really liked this holiday story. There were a few side stories to add to Rachel and Holden which made the whole story that much more special. A great holiday story for everyone to read.

It was a pretty good book. I got kind of bored with it by the 75% mark of the ebook and skimmed a couple of chapters, but overall, it was a fun read. I especially enjoyed that it was a clean book with no profanity or dirty scenes.
This was a fun, fast Christmas read that left me feeling the holiday spirit! I love Christmas books and this one did not disappoint!! Can't wait to read more by this author!!
