Master of Gray #1

Lord and Master

Rate this book
Born of one of Scotland's noblest families, Patrick Gray was fascinating, irresistible, ambitious and ruthless. Involved in a daring plot to free the imprisoned Mary Queen of Scots, and immersed in the intrigues of Elizabeth I's Tudor court, he strode imperiously across the turbulent stage of European history, crushing those who resisted his legendary charm. The great events of the sixteenth century provide a colourful backdrop to this stirring tale of love, adventure and betrayal. 'Through his imaginative dialogue, he provides a voice for Scotland's heroes' Scotland on Sunday

Why there hasn’t been a movie or a TV series made of this book I’ll never know! It’s master-of-the-pen Tranter at his brilliant best. Masterful! Genius! Plots as deep as Loch Lomond and as many twists and turns as the road to it! Beautifully descriptive, action packed, interspersed with symphonically romantic themes and punctuated by intelligent, informative dialogue. Could there be a more delightful way to learn Scottish history?

Struggled to finish thus book. Disappointing as the events described are interesting and could be gripping, but the writing style is so dry. V little character development. I was looking forward to reading a trilogy, but sadly won't be reading the others
