A self-contained instructional system for an introduction to ancient Greek, this volume includes a supplementary selection of readings from Plato's Meno and Republic and Aristotle's Physics and Nicomachean Ethics. The appendix has sections on phonology, syntax, morphology, and word formation. This text was developed over 20 years in the language program of St. John's College, Annapolis, Maryland.
Recommended by Mr. John Bova as apparently the Wheelock of Ancient Greek. My Greek is about an order of magnitude away from my Latin, which is about an order of magnitude again from my English (damn the downfall of classical educations! Damn the inability to take Greek on anything but an extracurricular basis in Georgia schools (admitted, they did provide seven sweet years Latinarum -- and btw, this is a great essay on that topic)). I'd really like to improve it, Greek of fine fettle seeming critical to a move from Modern Southern Gentleman to Crotchety Churchill-esque Curmudgeon. Ahhh, aspirations.
