He’s my best friend’s older brother. I might be a walking disaster, but I know how to keep my hands to myself. Right?
It was a typical Friday night for me. Lock myself out of my house after having too much to drink? Check. Steal a police horse? Sure, why not. Spend the night with my best friend’s older brother? Um…
I’ve made some pretty bad choices in my life. My ex-husband being the worst of them. Hart’s Ridge is a chance to start over. Do better. I’m determined to get it right this time. I know what it's like to lose my family in a breakup. I won't let that happen with my best friend.
Michael says I can trust him. He’s not a liar and he doesn’t cheat. But he doesn’t understand.
Elizabeth Bright writes smart, passionate romance with heart, humor, and heat. "Sparkling prose...unrelentingly sharp...unabashedly nerdy." (Bookpage) When she's not writing stubborn heroines and the men who adore them, Elizabeth can be found hiking and rock climbing. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her two daughters, who are every bit as headstrong and wonderful as the characters she writes.
Weirdly enough, I really wanted to read this one & not knowing about the series, had to wait a little bit so I could read the series in order :D Not complaining, I love Hart's Rigde! but there was something about Nora that I just couldn't love in the end, the way I've love all the other ladies... She had been through it, and it left scars, so I understand her unease trusting Michael, but he was just so sweet attempting time and again to do whatever it took for her to trust him. But she couldn't.... like almost to the last chapter, and I wanted to yell at her, so she could put them out of their misery. Maybe the hard part was understanding how she could be so care-free yet so ridge about it, it was like conflicting personalities?? but in one person. Oh well, maybe my mistake was taking sides, & I'm definitely on Michael's side on this one. :D

I read this book as an ARC and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love a good best friend’s brother trope and this did not disappoint one bit.
Nora is strong willed and smart but has a lot of baggage she is stuck dealing with. Michael is a real cinnamon roll hero.
I definitely will be reading the rest of the books in this series - I loved the supporting characters in this story and can’t wait to read their own stories!
I fell in love with this book pretty quickly. Not only is Nora relatable (that geriatric vagina, gurl) but Michael - Jesus, what a bloody lovely guy. I actually teared Jo reading this when I learned what was troubling Michael. I loved them both and was rooting for them so hard.
I’ve been reading the series so I loved seeing the other characters pop up and I’m looking forward to the 4th book to finish this off. GIVE ME LUKE IMMEDIATELY PLZ!
This was a very satisfying read. The two lead characters both had major issues; Nora had been gaslighted by her manipulative ex husband resulting in massive trust issues and Michael had a potential medical diagnosis which had major implications for his life. This gave the story a real depth and the characters were appealing.
Best friend brother vibes but there wasn’t really much “best friends brother” and they kinda fell in love with eachother quick with no chasing kinda situation for me which is why I gave its rating. Michael is a 10/10 GREEN FLAG.
