barou. IS. HIM. i love how he just doesnt fit into any system like he truly might be the one with the most ego AND the skills to back it all up. ego should be putting everything behind him bc he is the truest product from project blue lock. i know isagi is gonna score a goal at the end and win bc he cant ever lose ... does make me wonder like can we have corner kicks? or free kicks? or overtime? or PKS????? like i need that in blue lock

He's such a strong personality (even in this series full of Egotists) also I think its in this volume? but when he like head butts Isagi it made me giggle. I never really liked Gagamaru but he's killing it at goalie.

I must accept that the match between the Bastard and Ubers is taking forever, if it were not for the flashbacks and the eventual support of Hiori (who is also taking his time) this Vol. would not be very good, and it's also noticeable that Kaiser is losing protagonis inside the match.

Debo aceptar que el partido entre el Bastard y Ubers se me esta haciendo eterno, si no fuera por los flashbacks y el eventual apoyo de Hiori (que también se está tomando su tiempo) este Vol. no sería muy bueno, además se nota que Kaiser va perdiendo protagonismo dentro del partido.

I understand that ego is a critical tool for success, but it gives me a bit of an ick when it comes to team sports- how can you play in a team where everyone has a seemingly self ego? 🤯🤯

Barou is truly goated.

No matter how much time Kaneshiro spends developing a character, it feels like there's always room to go deeper. The second selection took Barou from a narcissistic prick to a very compelling character, and somehow, every time he plays afterwards, he becomes even more compelling. I appreciate that Kaneshiro limits tragic backstories in Blue Lock, because it makes stories like Hiori's and especially Snuffy's that much more impactful. The parallels between Mick and Barou are taken even further in this volume, begging me to wonder just how dark Blue Lock is going to get.

Overall, it's full of great moments from players like Raichi, Gagamaru, and Aiku, giving us a ton of defensive feats to eat off of. This almost makes up for the fact that the only people who are stated to be able to defend Snuffy are Noa, Isagi, and Kaiser... the attackers. Why can't the defenders do it?? I mean, I know the obvious reason... Raichi is the only Blue Locker on the defense, so any defensive feat will come either from Raichi or from an attacker... but it still requires significant suspension of disbelief for me to accept that Bastard's club defenders are this much worse at positioning themselves and blocking shots compared to the Japanese attacking players. Any of Barou's shots never get blocked by a DF, he just shoots around their leg, leading me to wonder why he can't do that to Isagi, and I almost never saw a panel of Snuffy OR Barou receiving any actual pressure from Bastard's DFs. Compared to the formidable DFs on Ubers, it just felt a bit silly that Bastard essentially had a 6-person team, as their strikers and midfielders were doing basically everything on both offense and defense while the center backs just vibe and enjoy the show.

Still, a realism complaint isn't significantly going to lower the rating of any Shonen for me. This volume still fulfills each and every promise Blue Lock has made to its readers, and lives up to the lofty standards of the NEL.
