When the spark of first love might reduce the world to ash. . .

Elizabeth’s path has not been safe, nor has it been easy. When the dragons came, she was ensnared by a dragon prince. She fought his rule at every turn, but protecting her loved ones left her vulnerable.

But now she’s discovered a secret their leader has been desperate to hide.

And the dragon prince has uncovered the truth about her past.

Can these two—a human and a dragon—work together to discover the heart the dragons need to survive, or will their digging destroy the world in the process?

If you liked the first book in the Dragon Captured series, prepare for new and deeper damage as you follow Liz on her journey to salvation. . .and a very uncommon love.

4/5⭐️
📌Details: 85,030 words (312 pages)

Book 2 of the Dragons Captured series far surpassed Book 1, in my opinion!

Our romance deepens to more than an enemies-to-lovers trope, and our plot becomes deadly as more and more mysteries are unraveled surrounding both the Dragon’s quest, and our MCs secret connection to them.
By the end of the book, we’re deep into full-blown Norse Mythology, our romance takes a turn for the tragical, and each fateful decision leaves us on the brink of world war.

📖This review will include spoilers for Ensnared and Entwined.

📌Plot:
Our book opens where the previous left off, with the true Dragon’s quest finally taking hold of the main storyline as our MC goes from slave to ally. What first started as an enemies-to-lovers drama quickly spans the globe on the heels of war, as our MCs backstory becomes suddenly entwined in the needs and purposes of the Dragons. Slowly, she goes from a nobody-fighter to a key piece in the Dragons success, finding a interest piquing connection to the Dragons in a traumatic event that happened in her childhood.
The lore begins to twine around every moment, and our world shifts into a magic-bearing mystery as we’re presented with lava-dwellers, Norse mythology, and a deeper romantic relationship than ever before.
The book rushes for the finish with not one, but two tragic losses, leaving the reader reeling at the death and capture of key characters.

AAHHHH This was so good. I do wish that I hadn't read it until all the books came out, so now I must wait... until who knows when. This book ended on a cliffhanger, so I'm dying to know what happens next!

Romance: Clean, but the dragons do talk a lot about mating... No curses or explicit scenes.

I am so excited that this book finally came out as you know this is the second part in a 4 part series called Dragon Captured and has to be read in order. I was enthralled by the story of Liz, Axel/Azar and Gideon. While reading this I was once more going through so many different emotions: sitting on the edge of my seat, shouting in disbelief, holding my breath, crying tears of joy, crying tears of sadness, laughing out loud, this story had it all. So let’s dig in a little bit.

Liz has started to feel more comfortable with the fact that she has become ensnared by the dragon that is known as the fire dragon Azar as well as by the Prince of the Earth Dragons Axel. Unlike anyone else she knows that both of them are one and the same dragon. Keeping a secret such as this is heavy on Liz but the responsibility that comes with it is not something she would want to share with anyone. Liz is realizing more and more what an important role she plays but in all this she never forgets to feel compassion for the humans around her and most importantly her siblings and mother. She is a very strong female lead that has to make decisions I would not want to make in her situation, she is a well developed character that has incredible growth in this book. I cannot wait to read what Bridget Baker will come up with in the next book.

Let’s talk about Gideon without doing any spoilers but man he is stuck in that love triangle that is actually a square because he thinks he competes against one dragon when he is competing against two. Gideon is faced with a responsibility he might not be ready for and needs to ask himself is this what I want for the rest of my life. Will his decision be his end or the start of a new beginning?

And then we have Axel/Azar, what a twisted turn in the event that was in the last book. I am not sure which one I like better, the broody Azar who looks impressive but has not as much power as Axel the unimpressive looking prince that has so many subjects. They both have some big decision to make and bringing in more dragons that do not know the secret, it is getting intense. I would say a lot of Azar’s view had me sitting on the edge of my bed, the battle he had to fight and overcome and the tough past he still carries with him. When it was the turn to be more Axel I felt sadness as he had a lot of choices to make that were not easy. Both characters are a great balance to each other and they make this book very exciting.

I cannot wait for the next installment of this book because this ended on a cliffhanger I desperately need and answer to.

Wow....that was a rush! I am still reeling from it all. Poor Liz had so much thrown at her and I feel horrible for her. Liz had to make some tough choices and I'm not sure I would've made the same choices she did.
SPOILERS!!! Don't read any further if you don't want any spoilers. I will keep some mystery but it's darn near impossible to leave a review without some. My heart breaks for Liz. It's like she lost both Axel and Azar even though he ended up being alive after Gideon's epic betrayal. I thought he would betray her but not that life shattering. I used to feel bad for him but not anymore. He stopped her heart and that could've killed her accidentally. He made a bad choice. The ending feels like Spiderman End Game. MJ forgets all about Spiderman/Peter Parker but Peter Parker has to live with all the memories of them. Liz did it to help everyone and sacrificed the connection/bond to Azar/Axel for the greater good of all the blessed. Azar didn't want to forget her at all. I can't wait for Book 3 because there are still so many questions I have about what Liz is now and if the heart is Odin's wife.

You can always count on Baker to take you to unexpected places and in an entertaining way. lol

This book is an emotional tug-of-war, and the characters are mixes of kindness and cruelty, selfishness and selflessness.

There was so much angst about their building relationship in the beginning that it kind of slowed the story down. This is why I knocked off half a star, even though it was leading somewhere. When stuff happens. Because, of, course, it does. This is only book 2. lol

I'm definitely engaged in the characters and the story. I'll wait to listen to the third book until just before the audiobook for the 4th one is available so I'm not left hanging for a conclusion.

Wow... I love the progression of Liz and Axel's relationship in this book. Liz has to make some hard decisions. Does she side with the dragons or with the humans? Who are the real monsters? Is it the dragons, her, or the other humans? In this book, you get to see decisions made based on love and fear. Maybe there is a little bit of a monster in all of them.

Bridget, always writes a complex story that leaves you wanting more. I, personally, cannot wait for the next book in this series. The end of this book leads to Liz making decisions that will drastically effect the dragons. I am excited to see in the next book how those decisions play out and what it means for her and the dragons.

Even better than expected

Wow, entwined is even better than I expected it to be. Bridget Baker lives up to her high standard of writing and storytelling. Entwined is heart-rending, thrilling, captivating and un-put-downable. I immediately did the pre-buy for Embroiled and can't wait for it to come out!

I loved book one and could not wait to read book two and it was every bit as good if not better! Liz and Axel's Journey continues in this fantastic second book and their relationship continues to strengthen. The world building is so descriptive and enthralling that you can easily visualise all that is going on and it was awesome to see things from Axel’s pov. The author weaves her magic in this complex and exciting story that had me entranced and unable to stop reading. Twists and turns, mythology, action, drama and humour, this was an incredible second book and I am eager for more please.

Not So Funny Anymore
Fortunately still a lot of laughter because of the interaction between Liz and Axel/Azar and sweetness with her siblings, but also all the bullets and other warfare tools the military were using against the blessed. Refusing talks in the first place and disregarding the rights of sentient beings by torturing and dissecting them ‘for research’. I’m afraid this is a very rational view of how human kind will react if ever a situation like this will occur.
I really like the way Norse religion is used in this story, giving it a very old background. Loved it!

If you love fantasy, or even just Bridget's other books you'll love this one too. I was so happy to see it was DUAL POV. It was so fun to get inside Axel/Azar's head. He made me laugh so much.
There are so many plot twists and unexpected turns that really put Entwined on another level. Bridget has such an incredible talent where she can make me upset enough to want to put the book down (or throw it) but intrigued enough to not be able to stop reading.

This second book of the series was soooooo awesome. When it was over, I almost cried because I didn’t want it to end! The cliffhanger it’s leaving me on is almost unbearable… but luckily Bridget is a fast writer so I know I won’t have to wait long.
I loved the twists in this book. A few things caught me off guard and kept me guessing of what will come next. If you loved book one, book two will be your new fave!

First up, this is book 2 and you for sure want to read book 1 first.

Second, whew! this book had lots of twists and turns and character development and action and humor and tension and…it was so much fun to read and I loved it!

Third, I was afraid halfway through that this book was gonna end on a massive cliffhanger. To my delight, it did not! Though it certainly left me wanting the next bit of the story coming in book 3!!!

Do I really have to wait until October to find out what happens next?! Entwined was such a roller coaster ride. I was cheering for characters I previously disliked, then going back to hating them, then cheering for them again. If you want a closed door (still steamy) dragon shifter book, then this series is for you! I’m not a huge fan of urban fantasy, but I love this series so much. I knew I was just torturing myself by reading this now instead of waiting until October.

What makes a monster? It turns out the answer isn't so black and white. Liz battles with friends who become enemies and life sure changes as feelings deepen and the line between friends and enemies, good and bad, becomes so very blurred. I loved this continuation of Liz and Axel/Azar's story, I absolutely did not see the twists and turns coming, and I cannot wait for the next book to see how things shake out!

I love this series!
The relationships only get more confusing with the addition of Axel’s mate and Liz wanting to take things up a notch with Gideon. Liz is sacrificial to the core for those she loves and goes to the extreme in this book. Be prepared to laugh, cry, yell, and be frustrated with the characters in this one. A bit of closed door steam and muddled lost in translation relationship issues. Have some tissues ready for the last couple chapters.

As always, Bridget E Baker has crafted a beautiful story with great world building and characters. We get to see things from Axel’s side as well as Liz’s as the story continues, which I really enjoyed. I definitely was bawling toward the end of the story because her characters have such depth you can really feel their emotions in the moment. I am eagerly anticipating the next book!!!

such a good read

I’m a sucker for a good dragon story and the first book in this trilogy was so good I couldn’t wait 10 minutes to start the second book, which I had already bought. The only sad part? Waiting for book 3 now. Also, if you aren’t a fan of love triangles, this one has that thread… it does eventually work itself out though, so hang tough.

I love the development and action that came with this story. And the twist at the end had my jaw on the floor. I CANNOT WAIT for the next one. Great characters, great story, and very unique— which is nice to see when so many other fantasy novels feel like copycats of each other. Five stars!

such fun

This is a fun romp packed with action and humour. It is also full of wonderful metaphors for the difficulties individuals have in coming to terms with who they are. This has fun characters and is recommended for Y A readers who love dragons.

This installment. It broke me and took me up to the heights and down to the depths. It was maybe even better the second time around! This dragon shifter invasion romance has taken us through the wringer. We’ve experienced so much and I’m speechless. This book has the best and the worst of the series in it. Love and pain. Betrayal and hope and family. I love the Norse mythology and the Iceland locale we travelled to.

This is an incredible series. Necessary to read in order, in case you’re just finding this review, you need to go and grab Ensnared. I don’t know where this series will take us, I have my hopes, but I’ve been learning that Baker will create a world and story bigger and more involved than I can imagine. I’m heading over to binge reread the next book. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 3.

WOW. I want to scream because it is SO GOOD!
The world building is incredible, as well as the characterization. I love how real everything feels. The issues they face are realistic and easy to follow, and I can definitely feel a connection to the characters.
