As an experienced Dominant, West used to know exactly who he was and exactly what he was doing. He was the master of his craft until he met Kara, the woman who turned his world upside down. One fateful misstep, and he is left a mere echo of his former self, adrift and yearning for something he cannot quite put into words.
Time should heal all wounds, but when Kara, ready to forgive, returns to find West, she discovers a transformed man. Gone is the gruff dominance she craves, buried under a shell of indifference and alienation from everything that defined him.
Can they fight their way back to the fiery connection that bound them?
I only now realised i never left a review for the delicious West of Wonderland, shame on me…. But i not only read it a good while back,i thoroughly enjoyed it,trust me!
It’s the story of how the owner of Wonderland, who we’ve seen in Gabriel and Alice’s story, met the right girl at the wrong place and read her intentions wrong. West first saw Kara in Wonderland watching a scene, and she was clearly turned on by what she saw. He didn’t take her seriously when she said she was only looking for the loo, because when she came out of said bathroom, she went towards the CNC hall…..and never used the safeword Dodo thoughout their time together. It wasn’t until after that,to his utter shock, she repeated what she’d said, and told him she knew nothing about a safeword,at all! West was horrified that he didn’t recognise the signs, tried to apologise, and in the end, sent her home….leaving him to suffer the consequences of his actions alone.
Fast forward, and 2 years later,we see a very different West. One that doesn’t play, one that hides in his office most of the time, one that still hasn’t stopped feeling guilty. We also get to see Kara again, and she’s changed, too. She not only looks different, she seems more confident, and tries to seek out West. At first,he bans her from his club, and when that doesn’t work,he tries to make her leave. In the end,all it takes is a good conversation to clear the air, though… She explains where she’s been, and what triggers her. He tells her why he reacted the way he did back then, and what his life has been like after because of it. Question is,is Kara ready for the new version of West after they both share their feelings?
This was a story about how sometimes the Dom experiences something called topdrop, and how it can affect your life. It also shows you how important it is to keep talking….because they wasted all that time they could’ve spent together!!
If you like CNC and power games, you'll love West. The author has been teasing me for weeks about this book, and when she finally sent me the ARC, it did not disappoint. Holy eggplants, this one melted me.
As always, Alexis Rey creates a story that catches your attention from the first moment. The characters are full of intrigue, and the play scenes are smoking hot.
I love the Wonderland series, but this is one of my favorites. You can read it without having read Alice's series of short stories and novellas, but having gotten a picture of West before I read his story definitely added to the appeal.
Are you looking for a short, mouthwateringly spicy read with BDSM? Look no further.

Can they fight their way back to the fiery connection that bound them? _ I first met West in Alexis Rey's Wonderland Chronicles, one of my absolute top reads in 2023. I immediately wanted more of West. Rey delivered, and I still don't want it to end.
This book. West. Kara. I am still thinking about them weeks after reading. Their initial encounter in that "anything goes" hallway in the adult playground that is Wonderland. The fallout from that encounter. West's shattered trust in himself. Kara's intent to reclaim something lost, to rewrite West's perceptions both of that fateful encounter and of herself.
If you enjoy...
*CNC in a BDSM club setting *A bearded, inked, broody hero *A delectably curvy badass heroine *A brat and her brat tamer
...you will enjoy West of Wonderland as much as I have. Rey's writing is utterly exquisite. Her depiction of BDSM dynamics challenges that of other romance books as readers of romance today have typically been exposed to light or homemade BDSM. If you want to fall down a rabbit hole and into a world that is gripping and grittier, West of Wonderland is exactly what you need.
CW: Be sure to read Rey's content warnings provided before diving in. They are a checklist of must-haves for me as a reader of BDSM and k_nk, they could be triggers for others. Also, intimate encounters between an MC and side characters are depicted on page. While these encounters are necessary and serve to propel the story forward, it is understandable that some readers may choose to opt out of reading. That's okay.
While this book can be read as an interconnected standalone, I cannot recommend enough that you start with Rey's Wonderland Chronicles. Trust me on this.
Rey is also releasing a third Wonderland installment in 2024, and I can't wait.
Grab West of Wonderland on KU today. You're welcome.
For a short story. This was so big and powerful. Dom drop. CNC. What can go wrong with CNC. This just had so many emotions. I really need a continuation of their story. Yeah no. This was phenomenal. All the emotions. All the risks of edge play. Just laid it out there. But also the power of a sub who took back her power in the way she wants to. Just read it. I love me some Mr West
It’s just so good. I don’t want to spoil this short, sweet, and spicy novella, but o m g I want a West of my very own. This will definitely be part of my rotation of books for when I want a good scene to reminisce with … and maybe reenact with the hubby. 🤷🏻♀️🤭
It was hard to get into at first but once I got into it I was sucked in and was hard to let go of it. I do find it a little confusing in some places but all gets weeded out. Overall great book
When Kara’s friend invites her out for a night at Wonderland, she stumbles upon a scene that excites her. What she doesn’t realize is that she’s caught the eye of Mr. West, and that she’s also stumbled right into the one place where anything goes, so long as the safeword remains unsaid.
When West realizes he’s crossed lines, having done and said things he can’t take back, everything he feels like he knows and was comes crumbling down around him. And let me tell you, this man is ANGSTY. BIG ANGSTY.
The Wonderland Chronicles had a verrrryy wonderfully spicy scene with Mr. West, his friend Gabriel and his submissive, Alice. And to read that scene from this new perspective, and what we now know about Mr. West makes me want to go back to reread to see if we notice any of his turmoil. Because I sure didn’t during the first read through!
Alexis does mention at the beginning that her books are not to be used as a guide to BDSM, and while I agree, I think this perfectly showcases what can happen when communication breaks down and things go wrong. For that reason, I wish we got to see more of Kara’s feelings as a submissive, but it does show the guilt and turmoil Dominants can have when things don’t go at all as planned, which many books don't seem to focus on!
Disclaimer: I got this book for free on Kindle. I participated in stuff your kindle day where I got a bunch of romance books for free, roughly 2,000 books. I normally do not read romance books but I wanted to try the genre. I typically read fantasy, science fiction, biographies, and classics so this is way out of my comfort zone. My plan is to draw a book at random without reading the summary, title, and avoiding looking at the cover. As long as the book is not too graphic for me or leads into something uncomfortable, I will be attempting to finish as many of these books as I can in 2025 (tried in 2024 continuing on now). I understand that many of these books will likely not be top tier but I am hoping that I can learn something about the romance genre as a whole and figure out if any types of books in this genre are for me.
My Review: I feel like a broken record even though I haven't reviewed one of these in a long time. I feel like some of these sexual situations/ moments of attraction that lead to the situations are just weird and unnatural. I can get past kinks that aren't for me. I just feel like there has to be a basis to a relationship besides pure sexual pleasure.
I wish the author would have given us more time with West and Kara to know their dynamic to understand why it worked so well for them, versus the number of chapters spent on West’s self doubt.
We get to learn more about West who appeared in the Wonderland Chronicles previously. He has a pretty amazing night with Kara, They meet in a CNC hallway in the club and have an interaction with less than desirable communication. West completely shuts down instead of sitting in that discomfort, talking to Kara, and allowing her to debrief. He lets his own worst fears overwhelm him, shuts down, and pushes her away. They get to meet again years later and it is such a great story of having the hard conversations. If you are prepared to be in the muck with West and Kara, this is the book. I really liked it.
I enjoyed the Wonderland Chronicles and had to read this book. This book did not disappoint. If you are into CNC and BDSM, this book is for you. I enjoyed the characters and story line. I would read it again. I 100% recommend this book.
