A Wildes witch cursed me for the massacre my coven was responsible for. I can only drink the blood of the descendants my coven murdered because of bloodlust.
Even on the brink of death, I cannot die.
I wish for death.
I hope for it.
And then my beloved finally appears, and he is the very last descendant of the family my own kind killed. His forgiveness will be hard to earn, but his blood?

So.. No... I'm just.. kinda dismayed.. Appalled even at what occurs here..

This book started off great for me, and stayed that way well into the middle of this story as well.. but in the middle of the "Mating Heat" scenes, things took a turn into the truly bizarre and not so appealing realm... Which, thank Gawd was brief..

So, it gets me comfortable again, into thinking this may actually turn out to be a really good read after all... Then.. nope.. It's like January pranked me big time with this one. And I don't like that at all🤨..

Allow me to try to explain a bit, without major spoilers👇👇👇👇

With the way certain MAJOR things occurred here, I really just can’t help but wonder why Oliver's character wasn't just written as a female?? I mean come on! Really?? He might as well have been a woman. From the ridiculous Endearment of "Kitten" being uttered to him at every turn by Ambrose, oh just gag me🤮... To the way the mating heat 🔥 "changed his physiology", which led to that ridiculous outcome😱 because of that..☹️... Not to mention how he's described.. way too delicate. He actually looks like a woman IMO, and Ambrose related to him as if he were a female as well in many instances.

What I'm trying to say is, if you're gonna go there with two males, then GO THERE! Without apology for the dynamic between the two. And don't try to soften this union,
try to make it easier for folks to, for lack of a better word, swallow the notion of these two males loving each other.. All of these things just took the authenticity out of this story.

And definitely don't try to sell the ideology that these types of loves can still have the best of both worlds without certain sacrifices...

Cause let's be clear, NOTHING can exist without its opposite. NOTHING.. Just because this is a paranormal realm doesn't mean that with this type of story, the way it began/was written, that that fact doesn't apply here. Cause it does..

If you try to peddle this any other way it just comes off as disingenuous. And that's the impression this story left me with.😕 Cause again, if you wanted that feminine energy so present, and so strong with where this story ultimately led us to, why did you make Ambrose's beloved a male?? Why?? If anything it proved the point for many who oppose such things, that alternative loves just shouldn't be.

I actually really liked Ambrose and Oliver. Both characters tug at my heart. And the way this story began and as it started to take shape, it really touched me. Intrigued me, and had me needing to know how things would turn out for these two. Especially considering their genesis...

I wanted an HEA for them. Was eager for it. But how that HEA came about? Was No Bueno for me.. just a hard NO, indeed..

Plus, the details of the reveals regarding Oliver's showdown with his adoptive siblings at the end, didn't make sense to me. Those reveals were very confusing. Mainly because in those scenes it was unclear on who was saying what and why.. That needed to be cleaner. More polished. And clearer.

Now, I am curious about Deacon. Wolf 🐺 bartender/club owner who Ambrose befriends.. I hope that Deacon gets a book. And I hope that his story is way better than this one..

I can't say that I would recommend this read. That would be a lie.. hence the 2 stars✨ but I am open to reading others in this series.. It seems like each book can be read as stand-alones. Especially if the synopsis for book two is an indicator.

Ohmygosh 🤭 LOVE LOVE LOVE
Warmed my heart and tickled my pickle 🔥
I saw the authors tikkytok last night of this book. OBSESSED!

“I plan on consuming you and every inch of your life. I’m going to be the man you come to when you need help, when you need to be touched, when you need someone other than yourself. I’m going to make you love me. That’s my plan.”

I loved the story between Ambrose and Ollie 🥹 These two were so cute. Ollie’s character was absolutely adorable in my opinion. Also the spice scenes between these two? 🤌🏼
This is a paranormal romance so of course things happen in the book that wouldn’t in real life but that’s the amazing thing about books.

This book is laughable, and I can’t begin to understand the high ratings (must be a big arc distribution and/or street team).

The author has no idea what they wanted this book to be so it’s all over the place, which is saying something for such a short and superficial read. Everything is just skimmed over with no depth or deep emotions. It’s a shame, because it actually started off pretty good, but veered off the rails quickly. Neither MC is particularly likable. And the way they speak, think, and act is very contrasting, so the reader experiences whiplash from one sentence/paragraph to the next. There are also several aspects of the plot that don’t make any sense.

This book needs a note after the synopsis that details the tropes it includes (read: surprises the reader with). I’ve listed them below. SPOILER ALERT
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
- Surprise mating heat
- Surprise slick
- Surprise mpreg
- Surprise daddy/boy kink (awkward af)

Honestly, this needs to be marketed as mpreg, because that’s not something readers like to be surprised with. And honestly, the daddy/boy kink as well, even though it’s silly and awkward and literally comes out of nowhere.
END SPOILER
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
On top of all that, there are a lot of errors and typos. And the phrasing is odd at times. There are also punctuation issues throughout. The only thing I liked about this book was Ambrose’s name and Deacon. But I’m sure this author will ruin him as a character whenever his book comes up, so I won’t be continuing this series, or reading anything else by this author. Glad I got it for free!

Oh, and kind of random, but why does the cover for this book have a bear on it?? One of the MCs is a vampire, the other a human. And the only other paranormal characters revealed so far are witches and wolf shifters. It’s a pretty cover, but does not represent what or who this book is about at all.

Ambrose & Ollie: A Sweet, Sensual MM Romance! 5 Stars!

Wherever there are books that center on the Seven Deadly Sins, you can find me adding them to my TBR list! Throw in the fact that it was written by one of my favorite authors, and its bumped up to the top spot in the reading order!

In brief, this book was magnificent!!

GLUTTONY is the first release from the “Seven Deadly Sins” Series written by one of my favorite authors, January Rayne. In Gluttony, we are introduced to Ambrose, a 16th century years old vampire whose coven experiences a serious case of bloodlust for a particular family, The Grandies. Why this bloodline? Because there is just something fantastical about their blood that causes a frenzy within the coven and they engorge themselves and feast on any descendent they can get their hands on. Their gluttonous behavior has resulted in the destruction of the entire Family line. Except for two surviving members. While his coven indulges in their killing spree, Ambrose is of better conscience. He saves the two remaining members and leads them to safety. However, as the saying goes, ‘no good deed goes unpunished’! In retaliation, a witch (*squeal*) exterminates Ambrose’s entire coven but spares him. Her reason is not without cause. She curses him: Immortality AND a thirst that can only be quenched and satisfied by a Grandie descendent. Talk about irony!

Fast forward centuries later, Ambrose has spent centuries alone and is suddenly in dire straits. The last of his blood supply has been depleted and just when he is resigned to the fact that he will live out the remainder of his existence with unspeakable thirst, he scents his salvation in another Grandie descendent. The scent belonging to a lonely, pet shop clerk named Ollie. However, Ollie may be much more significant to Ambrose than just his food source.

Ambrose and Ollie’s connection is instantaneous from the minute they appear on page together. What I loved most about these characters is how opposite their personalities were from each other. Ambrose was rich, powerful, and bold where Ollie was financially-struggling, vulnerable, and shy. The common denominator between them being that they were both extremely lonely and beaten down by life, just in different ways.

While reading, you will begin to see both characters literally fuse together in mind, body, and spirit (my goodness… especially BODY!) The scorching love scenes in this novel will make you simmer and have you clutching invisible pearls. These scenes were so hot, I fidgeted constantly in my chair and often paused in my reading to survey my surroundings to see if my expressions gave away any indication of how reading those scenes affected me! 🥵🔥

Ollie and Ambrose’s connection was magical. But, the real magic of this story is when we begin to see the self-assured and worldly Ambrose become more like Ollie: needy, vulnerable and extremely insecure. Further, we witness Ollie become more like Ambrose: assertive, confident and more outspoken. Ollie found his confidence in Ambrose. Ambrose found his peace of mind in Ollie. Sensuality aside, this was the most vital, prominent, and beautiful power exchanges that takes place in GLUTTONY and it’s absolutely brilliant. I wish more authors approached MM romance with the same energy as January Rayne, focusing more on the romantic connection between the main characters.

This is a short, utterly-sweet read that will put you in your feels right away. January Rayne does not disappoint and as usual, will deliver the spice you crave, beautifully-flawed-complex characters, and a heartwarming and satisfying HEA that will melt your heart. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Happy reading!

A quick, fun, and sensual story about how being gluttonous is a curse... Or a blessing.
Mistakes that aren't his own, cement Ambrose's life in stone. His destiny was rewritten for something he couldn't control, but unbeknownst to him, set him up for something so extraordinary.
Ollie comes into his life and is the beacon of hope Ambrose needs. But Ambrose is worried that the secrets of his life will push his Beloved away from him. We watch him struggle with his truth and watch them learn to work through it. They have an immediate bond, but instead of a frenzy type of response, they share moments of sweet joy and comfort. I loved watching Ambrose find something he thought he would never have. He had a bleak outlook for the life he was "living." Ollie was able to experience real love, real joy, and what it is to be wanted. Add in their friends, new and old, and it made for a fun story and I hope to see these characters again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ✬ (4.5 stars rounded up because GR still doesn’t have half stars)

Quick, steamy, and fun little read!

Honestly, for how short it was (less than 130p) it was SO GOOD.
Ambrose is part of a coven of vampires when they attack a specific family. He doesn’t take part but when his coven is destroyed, he’s cursed forever.
Many MANY years later, he comes across the most delicious scent and finds his mate, Oliver.
Oliver is lonely but so sweet. He goes into heat because of Ambrose and y’all.

Y’all. So. Frigging. Sexxxxy. Those scenes were amazing. Passionate, and so incredibly HOT.

It could’ve been 5 stars if it was longer and more developed but as it was, I really enjoyed it!

The way that January Rayne writes her vampires is my absolute favorite. This short story had some of the aspects of her Eternally series that I really love: fated mates, different length of lifespan depending on mated status, and even Sarah Wildes being the witch to curse him. I am a sucker for a good crossover.

I absolutely adored Ambrose and Oliver. I don't need logic, I don't need reasoning. I just need deep devotion, complete and utter adoration, and mates so fated that nothing and no one will stop them from being together. Not a witch with a curse, not an abusive family that comes back to snatch you once they know who you really are, not the doubt that creeps in and tells you that you aren't good enough. I love these two and I love them together. I love the way Ambrose dotes on Oliver and sings his praises every single chance he gets. I love that way Oliver slowly realizes that he is worthy of everything Ambrose wants to give him. "If that man is a figment of my imagination, there's part of me that hopes my mind never stops playing tricks on me because damn."

Not only did I love the two main guys I really enjoyed the side characters too. Oliver having friends like Ashley and Morgan allowed him the space to take the chance on Ambrose. Deacon grabbed my attention right from the get go and while I spent the whole time expecting him to flip a switch and be the bad guy I was more than elated when that wasn't the case and he really was just a wolf hanging out, trying to do his best. The balance and leveling he gave to Ambrose was wonderful.

I loved the praising, the kink rep, the mating, the claiming, the heat, the insane amount of fluid 😏the change of physiology, and the pregnancy. This truly delivered in every way for me. "My curious little kitten" ahhh fkn love it so much 😍😍😍🥵🥵🥵

Another amazing addition to the Shallow Cove world! Gluttony is a dark and spicy MM romance between a cursed vampire and his unknowing beloved. This gets 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 from me!

While watching his coven succumb to blood lust for the Grandie family… draining them all in their wake… Ambrose decides to help any survivors to safety. Even after saving two humans, Sarah Wildes (yes… THE Sarah Wildes from the Monreaux coven) curses his coven. As the only surviving vampire he’s cursed to live forever only to feed from Grandie blood. Anything else will make him sick. Even if he comes close to death, the curse will keep him alive.

Hundreds of years later, the bloodline for the Grandies has finally died. Ambrose tried his best to keep the family safe so he could ration blood from the descendants, but he’s finally without the blood he needs. That is until he scents something… a lone Grandie who was orphaned and never seen. Ollie is a sweet and shy shopkeeper in town. He’s also Ambrose’s beloved.

Ambrose is determined to make Ollie his… but how will Ollie feel about this? His family line was essentially wiped out by Ambrose’s coven. Being his curse and his beloved means they’ll be tied together for eternity with no choice. Can Ollie truly love a monster?

I loved these two!!! Ambrose would literally burn down the world for Ollie. I love how protective he gets and everything he does to ensure his beloved that he truly loves him, not just his blood. Oliver is such a cutie!!! After everything he’s gone through in his life I’m glad he has Ambrose to worship him!

Side note… can we please get a story with DEACON?! January, you can’t just drop a hot and single wolf shifter in the story like that! He needs his HEA!

Ollie knows there's something missing from his life, but he can't put his finger on it until tall, dark, and stunning Ambrose buys him a drink at the bar. Ambrose was cursed centuries ago to live off the blood of the one family line he saved from his coven's massacre. Having thought that bloodline died out, Ambrose is shocked to find Ollie, the last Grandie descendent, is his Beloved soul mate. It will take more than a few sweet words and gestures to get Ollie to surrender to Ambrose, but when he does, that will be all the sweeter.

This short, sweet, and spicy novella was the perfect read to escape from a stressful day. I was swept away in Ambrose and Ollie's story and I wish this was a full-length book, because I need more! I hope these two make an appearance in future Shallow Cove stories. Ambrose thought all hope was gone, but Ollie showed him the light. Their story felt a little rushed, especially with the short timeline of the book, but I was so caught up that I only noticed it was a whirlwind romance after I finished it. This author's works are so easy to get lost in, and Gluttony was no exception. I think the Ellis family needs a chance encounter with the Monreaux coven!

This book? Short. Sweet. Full of HEAT. And I devoured it in one sitting like a midnight snack I wasn’t supposed to touch. 🩸✨

Ambrose?
Smooth as butter, and if I were anywhere near him, I’d be melting like it on a hot pan. Rich. Mysterious. Possessive. With a soft spot for Ollie? Yeah, I get it.

And Ollie?
Adorable.
Messy hair, messy life—and all I can say is: same, honey, same.
Also… where can I sign up to have a dangerously hot vampire cover my medical bills?? Asking for a friend. (Me. I'm the friend.)

This one is a hard YES for me.

💀💘 Yeah, that line did what it needed to do. Instant chills.

🖤 Fun fact: I have every book January Rayne has ever written—and the second she drops another one? It’s in my cart. No questions asked.

DNF @ 30%

I was intrigued by the initial concept with the vampire cursed to want only one source of blood and his beloved appearing to be the last one alive.

However I found Ambrose frustrating he constantly acting like/thinking of himself as a good guy. He wanted to save them, he doesn't murder and doesn't like to mystify. Yet he turns around and continuously mystifys people, stalks and steals blood. Also threatens kill bodyguard for literally just calling him friend...

Like dude who are you? I just couldn't find any sympathy or care for him, it was just rather ridiculous 😂

I liked Ollie from his pov the animal hotel is a cute idea and his loneliness, wanting affection but afraid his easy to connect too. Although his contradict himself too, literally seconds after thinking about how keep his distance from people and such. He immediately agrees to a friendship and to go out for drinks.

Honestly I just don't think the writing worked for me and from looking a other reviews, I'm happy with stopping here.

Super fun and spicy Quick read✨
Ollie is adorable and Ambrose is absolutely swoon worthy.
The plot isn’t really that big due to how short this story is but its interesting enough that it keeps you hooked onto this book. So much so that I read it it one sitting😋🫶🏼
Disclaimer though since I know this isn’t really everyone’s cup of tea, there is male pregnancy.

4/5 ✨ though bc I just personally felt like there was something missing and the ending drama kind of felt lackluster but I digress. This book was fun to read💅🏼🧚‍♀️

So if you’re looking for a short, fun, and spicy fantasy novella (and don’t mind M Pregnancy) than this is definitely for you🤩🤞🏼

4/5 stars! So this isn’t my favorite book by January, but I think I’ve realized that’s a me thing. Her full-length novels are amazing and reel me in, and then I struggle to adapt to the pacing in her novellas. That being said, I loved these two MMCs. Ollie was adorable. This has spicy and chemistry and an interesting back story. The author went an omegaverse direction for the mating, which was interesting. I don’t personally enjoy omegaverse stories, but I appreciated the dedication she put in to appropriately following those parameters. Looking forward to jumping into a full-length book by her next

No, absolutely not. How does this have such a high rating? There were things in here that made ZERO sense.
It's rushed and things are so bunched together that it just seems like notes of a book that was going to be written, and instead they just took that and published it.

Just....no.

Not too bad but I definitely had some issues here...
The whole concept of Ambrose having to live off only one family's blood is very strange and the explanation at the end doesn't really make sense. I'm still confused about Oliver's foster family and that part seemed out of place.

The chemistry between Ambrose and Oliver is instantaneous and Ollie believes the whole vampire thing very quickly. The sudden mating heat is also weird as it goes from passion to Daddy-kink with too much intensity. The resulting is unexpected and again Ollie just accepts it without blinking an eye.

Yikes! Well that was certainly a choice wasn’t it? I’m not generally one for handing out 1&2 star reviews, but what did I just read? Ms. Rayne, please don’t venture into m/m again. This is the only book I’ve read by you and I have no plans to read others.

Let’s be clear here, I love a good mpreg whether I know it’s coming or not, but nothing about this book description screams PNR w/mpreg. Also, if you wanted to write omegaverse, you should have written and marketed it as such. That’s not what happened. Everything about this story is cringe.

More power to the people who liked it, but I am not a fan. I only finished it because I wanted to see how the train wreck ended.

January did it again. I truly don’t think this woman can write anything that I will not devour and become obsessed with.

I LOVED Ambrose from the beginning and was super sad to see his fate of the curse. Ollie, is absolutely adorable and deserves the world.

This read was cute, sad, funny, and SPIIIIIIIICY. The scenes, dare I say; left you gluttonous for more; but January definitely quenched my thirst.

Also, I LOVED seeing this specific Wildes witch in action. Chills. And, Deacon…… we LOVE Deacon, will we get more Deacon?….please?

Whenever January writes a new book, I have to get my hands on it to read. This novella is no exception. I read and finished it so quickly. MM readers will want to pick up a copy of this book for themselves. I "ship" Oliver and Ambrose.

I really felt for Ambrose and his predicament. However, I really appreciated the tender care that he expressed towards Oliver. It made their relationship more than just about "lust". Although, I could feel the strong attraction between Oliver and Ambrose. Every time that they were near each other, I could almost smell Oliver's scent.

This was my first MM romance and I am *obsessed*. This one is an wasy quick read. I'm a sucker for a sad MMC and Olie is *chefs kiss* the perfect amount of tragic. If you are already familiar with the world January Rayne has built, this book fits in perfectly within her universe. I love Ambrose and Olie a lot. They're probably some of my favorite characters in Rayne's related books so far. It is short, but it's very sweet, so I definitely recommend brewing yourself a cup of coffee or tea and getting cozy with this spicy MM romance.

My first MM romance, and I jumped in the deep end head first no life jacket. (Common occurrence)

I loved Ollie and wanted to hug him.
I drooled over Ambrose because… duh he’s hawt.

The ending felt a bit rushed and i absolutely have some questions but i think that was done on purpose.

The plot, the spice, January’s world she built is for intricate and detailed and all it does is make me want to read more from her.

Also, this was VERY SPICY. 🥵🥵🥵🥵

I did receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

ONE I was about to start to hate Sarah Wildes due to the curse on Ambrose but never mind!

Now Oli and Ambrose are super cute, it was super short and I hope we get to see the story expand or see them in the shallow cove universe with the rest of the supernaturals.

I kid you not I just wanted to throw myself into the universe, the spice is there. You will not get bored, I’m wondering is we will see Deacon join the pack in the shallow cove world, there’s so much that could be expanded.

There is MM Preg, blood, death, mentions of abuse as well.

I love January Raynes' work, and this book is so good. I haven't read MM romances for a while because of self-preservation (I cried with the last MM romance I read, and the author didn't even finish the second book). Anyway, I loved this novella. It was a great read to get me out of my MM romance slump. The connection these two have is so good. You can see that they are absolutely right for one another. It is beautifully written and you get some of the sexiest scenes out there. 10/10

This was another great read from January Rayne. This book captured my attention from the beginning. It w as easy to see that Ambrose wanted more from his life than what the coven he was with wanted. His punishment for being with them felt a little unjust but I can understand it. His and Oliver's story had me enraptured in this book. I could not put it down. I am loving this author and her books.

Gluttony was a fast-paced novella that was sweet and sinfully delicious. It pulled on my heartstrings, and I instantly fell in love with these two beautifully flawed characters.

Ollie and Ambrose took me on an amazing journey filled with loads of ups and downs, struggles, and heartache. But once they realize how perfect they are for each other, their journey turns into something so much more and is filled with passion, healing and love.

Great Story!

I was looking for another book like Honeysuckle but all I had to do was go to the source. January Rayne did it again with another supernatural stalker romance. This has vampires, fated mates and shifters. This book got me out of my slump for sure the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ in this book was just top tier. I fell in love with the two male MC Oliver and Ambrose story yes I said that right it’s a MM romance!!!!!! I’m still in love

Nope, not for me.

This was just weird.
Vamp, can only survive on blood of one family lineage because of a curse from a witch. 400+ yrs later, he meets his mate. A human guy. vamp impregnates guy during his heat. Human guy was an orphan in a family of incestuous wolf shifters that can't shift. Oh and randomly, vamp tears are like pearls and can heal things and are a lot of money....
Idk this whole thing was just weird. Hard to finish since I rarely dnf books.
