Definitely a very good way to work through a lot of our issues while taking in account the response we may have, not an easy task any day however I do believe that perseverance is key with this one.
It has so many prompts and advice to do the shadow work we really need everyday and to let us grow every single day, absolutely fantastic.
The Complete Shadow Work Workbook and Journal by Kelly Bramblett, published by Callisto Publishing, with a planned release date of January sixteenth, 2024, provides mindful activities through which one can learn about and accept the part of their mind where fear, pain, trauma and other negative thoughts and emotions live, and to begin to process and release these types of thoughts that might hold one back.
What I liked most about this book was the exercises in Part II, the workbook. There were pages for journaling and guided writing and other activities to do.
This book offers a transformative journey into self-awareness and healing. Through introspective activities and detailed journal prompts, Bramblett guides readers to confront their shadow selves—the repository of fear, shame, and trauma—and embrace healing. Even for beginners, the book provides a clear understanding of shadow work and offers practical exercises to track emotions, set goals, and reflect on progress. With expertise drawn from life coaching and trauma specialization, Bramblett's guidance empowers readers to release limiting beliefs and cultivate inner peace. If you seek to overcome past wounds and live joyfully, this comprehensive workbook is an invaluable companion on your journey of self-discovery.
In short, easy-to-manage chapters Kelly Bramblett introduces the reader to shadow work, first to the concept helping us understand what to expect, and then experientially by helping us go on a journey of self-discovery.
I'd recommend this work to anyone wanting to gain more awareness on unconscious behavioural patterns and beliefs at work to create both whatever is working and not working in their lives.
With our shadow / our subconscious patterning being notoriously hard to 'catch', the prompts provided really do help in gaining more awareness in what's going on. This can then form the foundation for shifting things, sometimes spontaneously, and sometimes with the support of a trauma informed therapist, counsellor, body worker etc.
People working in this field may also find this book helpful as a complement to the sessions they offer, where clients can work on some prompts independently between sessions to further their growth and transformation and further give them a sense of ownership over their journey.
Prompts focus on different themes and can be reflected on in any order as needed. There are also short visualisations and exercises that support the work.

This book is great for anyone exploring shadow work. I highly recommend it.
My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I saw this book and new that it would help me out. I journal as part of my mental health and self-care routine. So I have added this to a part of that. The book was broken up into two main section. The first one was introduction to what shadow work ins. The other was putting into practice. It was a good set up for me and help me better understand it and how to put it into a working format for myself. It was something I did not know I needed until I started to read the book and bam. My eyes are now opened to some of the dark things that are holding back from reaching my own goals. There are things I need to let go of and move forward.
Being a therapist, I'm always looking for new resources to recommend to clients. This workbook & journal provides some fantastic exercises for bolstering self-compassion and establishing a healthier relationship with the self. Through the use of self-exploration exercises including topics like gratitude & vulnerability and building Jungian psychology, this is the perfect addition to a resource list for mental health professionals and the perfect addition to your personal resources for self-exploration.
The Complete Shadow Work Workbook and Journal is an excellent tool for those seeking to actively take part in Shadow Work for the first time. Kelly Bramblett has created a workbook that will help guide its owner through the murky first steps of examining and working with the subconscious self. That said as with all tools of this nature I do think it should be combined with the guidance of a professional in the field of psychology for the reader to get its full benefits.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free copy in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this book I've been wanting to get into shadow work and learning more about it and this book is the perfect intro to it! I loved how interactive this was and how it prompted the reader to start thinking about their life and how they can focus on Shadow work and implementing it in their life - this is a book that I would buy a physical copy of so I could write in it keep it on my shelf!
I've recently become interested in Jungian analysis and shadow work. I was eager to learn about my shadow self and probe my unconscious mind when I bought this but was disappointed to find that it was mostly CBT and DBT surface level stuff and emotional regulation and healing.
I wouldn't say I got much out of this. It would be good for some people, but if you're wanting to do depth work I'd recommend something else.
This book is a nice combination of real shadow work theory and useful exercises and prompts. I feel like this book is a good resource to add to your collection if you are on your way to deeper self-discovery and self-acceptance.
A truly complete guide to shadow work with in depth info about the shadow self, how it impacts the present, and activities including journal prompts to promote personal growth.
Thanks to Callisto Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
This workbook is such fine work. I really enjoyed the process and the psychoeducation parts of it. It''s definitely worth the price and worth putting the work in. It allows you to grow and to take a moment to reflect on your life and doing the shadow work.
Thank you so much to goodreads for the contest to win a copy of this book! I am so excited to use this workbook it’s set up wonderfully and I’m really looking forward to using it!
This is a great way to introduce people to shadow work! There are detailed explanations in addition to the workbook with journal prompts and thought-provoking questions. I would definitely advise someone to purchase the physical copy rather than a digital copy. If you're familiar/experienced with shadow work, this may not be the right choice for you.
