Shifter kids and hot single dads in a small town with secrets...
Funny and full of feeling, A Day Care for Shifters is a series of standalone stories in a little town with big mysteries. No cliffhangers and no cheating, just well-earned happy-ever-afters with lots of humor and heart... and plenty of adorable shifter children!
This set includes: Wolf's Instinct, Dragon's Instinct, and Unicorn's Instinct, as well as the bonus short story, First Shift!
Elva Birch is an author of the impossible and irresistible. She is a fire dragon Gemini living in Alaska who belly dances outside at twenty below in the winter and loves to find tiny fairy moss worlds in the summer with her camera.
Elva also writes SHIFTING SANDS RESORT, GREEN VALLEY SHIFTERS, and FAE SHIFTER KNIGHTS as Zoe Chant.
A sweet and charming collection of stories about single paranormal parents finding true love connected by the daycare center their children attend. Good reads!
1 - WOLF’S INSTINCT Over emphasised about Instinct too much, as they dithered internallway to much on it between it being right and/or being wrong. Not sure how knowing something or someone (a mate) special is going to happen seems like a good thing. The day care centre was wonderful and the children so cute and entertaining. Liked Roderick and his daughter Gabriel. Love a single dad who doesn’t quite get it right but is doing his best. Not quite sure why we had to have the ex pop back but hey, a bit of drama means pages need to be added in. Though I seldom like shifter stories where they have children with other women, it is explained away here as mates are only stories, not a reality. Want Victoria to come a cropper with her real estate shenanigans. Read in the box set. 2 - DRAGONS INSTINCT Quite happily reading along, even though it was a bit slow going, with nothing really happening, then we get the twist about Olivia’s ex Sunny. WTH. NOTHING has been implied that Olivia is bisexual. Totally threw me out of the story, especially as it neither added nor changed the storyline, or defined their lives going forward. Unless she decides later on she wants a change of sexual orientation once again. Not sure what to make of this, though I really enjoyed Lucy and her antics. Ian and his heritage proved entertaining and different. But then we get a dragon just deciding to change who he shares himself with and he just hops into a new host. So Ian loses his dragon soul and Olivia becomes a dragon shifter. Too weird. Read in the box set. 3 - UNICORN’S INSTINCT Just a bit too silly and unbelievable for me with way too many things left unanswered. Why is this such an isolated story. We get no interaction with any of the previous book characters. This is set either in the clinic or Vivian’s house. No going into town, to the cafe, Tiny Paws or any social events, except for Halloween. And even then we didn’t get anyone else interacting. Could be a totally different series. The only connection is that Becket is the one who saved Ian. How are they going to explain Timothy’s MIRACULOUS recovery? Becket himself even uses the term unexplained miracle and undue questions when thinking of being able to treat shifter children in the clinic. What happened to Hunter? WHO was David? Just annoying with all, these things left unanswered.
INCLUDES 1.5 - First Shift Cute and sweet light read. Not really romance orientated but enjoyable. Poor Chloe gets the surprise of her life when her son turns into a penguin chick. Loved how Clay is protective, supportive and helpful.
Get your tissues ready for this very emotional book (especiallythe last one), as you read these stories. You get 4 stories in the series (one is only a 'bonus' short story). The stories centre around single parents to children that go to a special shifter day care. You see all the fun and trials of living with a shifter child. Very well written with exceptional characters that you will love.
I loved all the characters and aren't shifters so fun? Addison and Olivia's stories were wonderful and I like how Becket noticed her shifter status when he hadn't when he was working as a fireman and helped she and Ian off the mountain. Just great writing!
Shifter and human parents, daycare chaos, the rapid pace of life and love - chaotic and beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed these three and will read the rest of the series. Nickel City, MT holds many shifter secrets and this series centers around the parents and friends who know them and live with them. Charming and enjoyable.
I’ve read a lot of shifter books, and now: shifter babies!!! Well, mostly they are toddlers who often shift at inappropriate times, awkwardly showing up as a small, naked human. Hilarity ensues! These are funny , sweet stories with romance, too. Elva Birch FTW!
Really this is a 3.8 as a series. It has an intriguing story premise. A day care for shifter children. I enjoyed getting to know each of the shifters and seeing how they meet their mates. It's spicy and has suggestions of f/f in one so not an author I will continue to read.
Single shifter parents need babysitting while they work! Parents find that certain someone that brings romance to that certain shifter meant for them! Start this series! Adults only
Enjoyed all three books equally. The day care environment felt really true to life only this was for shifter children, so they also had to be careful to teach the children that they could not just anytime. ( liked the way they did this with finger toes ).
A definitely not to be missed wonderful book and part of a great collection/series. I don’t want to reveal the story but you will love, laugh, cry, and be delighted with this book!!
I loved these stories. The first 2.5 were fairly low angst, the third was heartfelt while still being heart wrenching. And they all handled some sensitive topics very well. The sex scenes were more steamy than spicy, but still enough to get my pulse rate up. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
I was excited to read about shifter children. It's a subject that isn't put in most shifter romance stories. The author has captured the challenges of Just being normal parents by adding in the twist of shifting. Very funny and heartwarming.
Quick fun read in three shifter tails with a little romance, a little sex, and some twists and turns thrown in. Really enjoyed this author and the series and will be back for more!
I enjoyed the first story and started the second story buy it got to much for me to continue to read. Not much of a shifter fan. But the first story was good
So far I have completed the first two stories in this series. It is an urban fantasy that seems to be situated on earth. However, human beings aren’t aware they are sharing their habitat with shifters.
This story centers around a daycare center for shifters. It is delightful to see very young toddler babies during their first shift into their animal side. These stories made me laugh and want to snuggle these little critters. What fun.
Books 1 and 2 are centered around the same characters. It appears book 3 centers on a different character. I am so happy with the first two stories that I am shelving this book right now. I cannot give it 5 stars without completing the third story.
So far I find this to be a delightful and heartwarming story.
This is a great collection of stories. Love, passion and belonging is what life should be about like in these stories . I highly recommend this book series.
