Gone without a trace…

Annie Humphries didn’t have “trainee agent” on her ten-year plan, but after six months with the Division of Plants and Potions, she’s finding her stride. Sure, she’s young and woefully human, but Annie is making a name for herself in Interdiction—as is Wylan, her fellow trainee, roommate, and semi-secret boyfriend.

Those few who know about their relationship don’t seem scandalized, though there’s that pesky problem of it being illegal…not to mention the issue of what would happen if the research team were successful in their quest for an antidote to Roulette. For Annie, freedom from the Pactlands would come with a mandatory mind wipe and a permanent separation from the man she loves.

When ten officers from the Division of Laws disappear during a training exercise, Wylan and Annie are asked to assist. All signs point to the Wild Hunt’s involvement, but why? And if the Hunt is responsible, then Fellora ti’Mal wants in. A trainee in her own right, Fell has scores to settle with the Hunter—if, that is, she can get her domineering mother off her back.

Against all odds, Annie has survived two encounters with the Hunt. But this time, with so many lives in the balance, her luck may have finally run out…

Ash Fitzsimmons

Ash has always loved a good story. Her childhood bookshelves overflowed, and she refused to take notes in her copies of classroom novels because that felt like sacrilege. She wrote her first novel the summer after her freshman year of college and never looked back. (Granted, that novel was an unpublishable 270,000-word behemoth, but everyone has to start somewhere, right?)

After obtaining degrees in English and creative writing and taking a stab at magazine work, Ash decided to put her skillset to different use and went to law school. She then moved home to Alabama, where she works as an attorney. These days, Ash can be found outside of Montgomery with her inordinately fluffy Siberian husky, who loves long walks, car rides, and whatever Ash happens to be eating.

I am absolutely loving Ash Fitzsimmons’ fantasy saga set in the Pactlands and The Wild Hunt trilogy was just so good! I loved Annie and Wylan’s story for all the interesting world building. Annie is trapped in a world of trolls, elves and flying horses after a cursed bit of weed a party caused her and a friend to grow antlers and wings. Wylan is part of the wild hunt, a group of men all called into being by “the hunter” who live in the forest and who have deadly hunting instincts. And I absolutely loved the connection between them, and their hopefulness that they could find a way to be together even when it seemed fate was throwing other things in their way. This was a great conclusion to the series. I loved the flying horses (everyone needs a Jimbo.) I loved the way everything wrapped up, and I’m excited to see what is next for the Pactlands! 5/5 stars.

Hunting the Hunter

The wild hunt is at it again! When 10 agents go missing, Annie and Wylan are called in to try to track them. Moonless Night comes as well and ends up revealing his real identity. But given that a Troll clan not only accepted him but named him, he is considered an elder. Annie teams up with Hakk to train the others and Fell joins, finally standing up to her mother and marrying her fiance. An explosion throws things off and it turns out Fell's father is more bloodthristy than anyone knew. And then the hunt rides and things take an interesting turn. It definitely puts Annie and Wylan to the test.

A great conclusion to the story!!

I really enjoyed this. And there some great shocks that moved the plot along nicely. I don't want to give anything away but the ending fulfilled all my requirements, which as at one point the issues seemed very problematic almost insurmountable, was surprising but in a good way.
A great read to take your mind off your troubles!

I loved this series and I found the ending in this one fantastic.
For a minute I was worried how things would resolve but the ending fit perfectly.
Another 5 star from me and a series I will recommend to others.
