I have read all of the Seabreeze series. I always loved coming back to see how all the characters are doing. In Seabreeze Gala, some of our friends are facing challenges. Bennett may have an opponent in his next mayoral run, Ivy continues to be worried about the upkeep of the Inn, and whether or not another claim may be made for the property and daughters Sunny and Poppy learn about relationships and their pitfalls. All of the story lines are charming, romantic and funny. If you love a good romcom, you will love this series and the Gala story line. One thing I especially appreciated about this particular book is the way in which author, Jan Moran, handled filling in new readers to the series. Very often will see authors, front loading books, with a lot of information about past editions of a series. This can be very frustrating for readers who have read all previous stories. Jan sprinkled information throughout the book, at appropriate times, where it made sense to include this past information. I found myself appreciating these reminders rather than being frustrated at duplicative information. if you are looking for a fun, beachy story, don’t miss Seabreeze Gala.Enjoy! Thank you to Booksproutfor the opportunity to read and review.
This is the 10th book in my favorite book series. While you can pick up Ivy and Shelley's story here, I recommend you go to book 1, Seabreeze Inn, in order to become fully immersed in their world. Jan Moran does an excellent job spinning a tale that you will love to return to time and time again.
“We’re all here to grow and change, even old houses. That’s a constant in life. We never stop learning."
Ivy Bay and her family are back in the tenth book in this marvelous series that focuses on the Seabreeze Inn and hope for fundraising to work on keeping it for a long time. With help from Viola Standish, the owner of another one of Amelia Erickson's homes, Ivy has set up a Las Brisas del Mar/ Seabreeze Inn Foundation to restore the Inn. And the auction that will be held will move the restoration forward.
Or will it? When a woman from Germany enters the picture the future of the Inn begins to look a bit murky. Why? I can't tell you. You will have to just read this for yourself and find out!
From the first time I picked up a Jan Moran book,I have been swept up in her worlds and find myself returning again and again. Her research is flawless and her characters well rounded. I highly recommend any of her work, including "Seabreeze Gala". Highly Recommended 5/5
[ Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
Having read all of the Seabreeze series and being a fan of HEAs, I can say this book hits all the notes. We see marital love, family love, friendship love and community love. We see the maturing of Sunny and Poppy. We learn more about Amelia Erickson and the hope of a young lady learning about her ancestry. We see the Gala providing hope to Ivey and Shelly for the future of the Seabreeze Inn. All in all a satisfying and entertaining read. Enjoy!
I am so happy that this isn't the last book. I have enjoyed all ten books in this series. I almost feel like I could have a conversation if I were to run into any of these characters.
I absolutely love visiting Summer Beach and the Seabreeze Inn! There are always adventures and secrets to be found in the old historical home/Inn, and the Seabreeze Gala gives the reader another great story. I also love the continuing love story of Ivy and Bennett and how each one supports the other! Another great HEA. I can’t wait for the Seabreeze Library, where, no doubt, several adventures will present themselves!
I have long been a fan of Jan Moran's books for one primary reason: she is so consistent. Her characters are engaging, there is just enough drama to keep things spicy, and the importance of family bonds is always celebrated. This book is no exception. I was excited to read the latest chapter in the Seabreeze series and am even more excited to learn that it's not going to be the last one! Thanks to Booksprout for the review copy.
I was delighted to read another book in this series. I’m even more thrilled to learn that this won’t be the last book in the series, after all. Even if it had been the last, it would have been a blazing exit for the residents of the Seabreeze Inn and Summer Beach. Thankfully, that’s not what’s going to happen.
Ivy and Shelly, owners of the Seabreeze Inn, formerly home to the wealthy Amelia Erickson, are planning a gala to secure the future of the historic building and pay for the improvements and repairs it badly needs.. They’re aided by socialite Viola Standish, who owns another of Amelia’s former homes in San Francisco. Shelly and Ivy are working like crazy to get everything organized and the inn cleaned and ready for the big event.
This book ties into Seabreeze Honeymoon, the previous book in the series, flawlessly. I don’t know how Jan Moran does it, but there are plenty of surprises in this book. Then, again, this is a series based on surprises. Introducing the new character of Lea Martin was brilliant. This is a story with lots of layers concerning many of the characters including Ivy’s daughter, Sunny, and her niece, Poppy. Also, there's a possible threat to the inn and it's future ownership. There might even be an apparition floating around the inn; no one knows for certain, but they do what they can to assuage the possible being’s concerns. And Bennet may be facing a challenge to his future as mayor of Summer Beach.
Another hit out of the ballpark, this book made me want to visit the Seabreeze Inn and make friends of all of Sunset Beach’s residents. I highly recommend it.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
Ivy and Shelly are getting ready for the big fundraiser. The Seabreeze Inn was now almost 100 years old. They are trying to renovate the inn to its original state. Months back Ivy and Bennett's honeymoon flight had a layover in San Francisco, and they sought out the Erickson home. The Pacific Heights home was gorgeous, and they met the current owner Viola Standish and her niece Meredith. Viola had seeded the fundraiser event with Amelia Erickson's newly discovered, a Victorian Diamond Necklace which would be the highlight of the evening. They had helped Ivy apply for tax credits and grants to help with the Inn. Daisy, Shelly's daughter was getting so big. She was crawling all over the place and pulling up on furniture. Soon she would be walking and running all over the inn. She was very curious and wanted to explore everything. One of the guests for the gala came from Germany and she wanted to come a few days early. Lea got to the inn and seemed to immediately ask questions. She wanted to see it all, where Ivy and Shelly found all of the treasures they had found. The place where they found the artwork. All of the old clothes they had found. The attic where Amelia had hidden people during the war. She was starting to make everyone nervous with her questions and why she was so curious. She ended up telling Ivy that her grandmother was Amelia's younger sister. So now they are wondering if she is going to try to claim the inn, as she is a relative. Is that what she is up too? Will Ivy have to leave the Inn that she has learned to love. Will Ivy be able to stay in the area? If they have to leave the area what will Bennett, after all he is the mayor here. Where will Shelly and Poppy go, they love living and working here at the inn? I guess only time will and to finish reading this fun book will give us the answers we want. I recommend that you get this book and check it out. I really enjoyed reading it and I know you will too. I am a part of the ARC team for Jan and will gladly leave my review.
Jan Moran's "Seabreeze Gala" unfolds with the promise of restoration and renewal while also alluding to the challenges that threaten the cherished Seabreeze Inn. As the tenth installment in the Summer Beach series, Moran once again delivers a captivating narrative filled with strong women, enduring friendships, and the resilience of family bonds.
The heart of the story revolves around Ivy Bay and her relentless efforts to save the Seabreeze Inn. With the generous assistance of a benefactor, Ivy endeavors to orchestrate a gala event aimed at fundraising for the much-needed repairs. However, as guests flock to the inn for the gala, unexpected twists emerge, throwing the future of the inn into uncertainty. Moran deftly weaves together intricate plotlines, delving into the complexities of familial ties and the unforeseen challenges that test the characters' resolve.
What sets Moran's storytelling apart is her ability to give the reader well-rounded characters and immersive settings. I am always drawn into the world of Summer Beach, where every interaction brims with authenticity and warmth. From Ivy's determination to Shelly's unwavering support, the characters resonate with depth and relatability. Moreover, Moran seamlessly integrates elements of romance, humor, and suspense, ensuring that the narrative remains engaging from start to finish.
With its compelling characters, engaging plotlines, and picturesque setting, this novel is a delightful addition to the Summer Beach series. Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering the series for the first time, "Seabreeze Gala" is sure to captivate you with its charm and heartwarming tale of resilience and community. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a captivating read filled with love, laughter, and the promise of new beginnings.
I am a huge fan of Jan Moran’s writing. I have read and/or listened in audio nearly all of her books. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Summer Beach, Coral Cottage and Crown Island series, and feel a connection to all of the characters. I spent most of my summers on the So California beaches and these beachy stories reminded me of that. Seabreeze Gala moved along quickly and although I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next, I also knew I would soon be reaching the conclusion. I didn’t want it to end. I read Seabreeze Gala in two days. I think it’s my favorite of the Summer Beach books. I have loved the Ivy character from the very first book, she is a strong, independent hardworking woman. Ivy has grown from a wife whose husband’s death revealed he had been unfaithful. Leaving her and her two daughters with nearly nothing then to the successful businesswoman she became. Along the way she meets Bennett and together they have a second chance at love. In the Seabreeze Gala two of the characters from Seabreeze Honeymoon, Viola and Meredith, arrive at the Seabreeze Inn for a fundraising event. I enjoyed reading about the party preparations from decorating to floral arrangements. I liked how everyone joined together to make the fundraising gala and auction a huge success. The proceeds would help Ivy pay for the renovations her historic inn needed. The newest character in this story is Lea, a distant relative of the former owner, Amelia Erickson. I enjoyed learning Lea’s back story and the direction it took within this book. She was a delightful character and a nice addition to the storyline. This is one of those books you will really enjoy reading. And remember, “Life is better in Summer Beach.”
The future of the Seabreeze Inn hinges on one gala event, but will the history of the beachside inn threaten its survival? When Ivy Bay’s historic Seabreeze Inn requires critical repairs, a benefactor offers help, and the announcement ripples through the art world and beyond.
This contemporary sweet romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building on the sunny shores of California with magnificent, vibrantly painted sunrises and sunsets across the clear blue skies, and characters that are strong, independent, yet must have their family saga, captivating, witty, and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with the Seabreeze Gala that is to take place at the Seabreeze Inn where Ivy and her sister Shelly Kare to hold this gala and auction that is for fundraising for an incomparable Victorian necklace with people coming that they never anticipated. This might mean that they aren't up for the challenge, or are they? Drama is knocking on their door threatening to have them give up holding this gala/fundraiser that is beneficial to everyone. I recommend reading this beach saga to find out if the gala is a go in this vacation paradise with dating and love and a clean romance that is so heartfelt that readers will be pulling out the Kleenex or Puffs to wipe the tears that are threatening to stream down their cheeks. This author is extraordinary and knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with the Seabreeze gala and clean sweet romance that is sure to transport readers into the world of California that is beautiful and unforgettable.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I think that this tenth and latest installment of the wonderful Summer Beach series is my favorite! You can read this as a standalone (Jan Moran does a marvelous job of filling in some of the backstory without it being overly repetitive for those of us who have followed her from Book One), but I highly recommend starting at the beginning with Seabreeze Inn to fully appreciate both Ivy’s and Shelly’s journey and the growth of their and many other characters.
The “gala” is the centerpiece of this book, and the focus is on raising much needed funds to repair and maintain the historic Seabreeze Inn (originally Las Brisas del Mar). The descriptions of the guests, food, flowers, and the event itself make the reader feel as if they are at a prime table! It’s always fun to spend time with characters from the previous books, too. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Summer Beach novel without some new characters (not all of them nice people) and intrigue, and Ms. Moran provides a few delightful twists and turns along with her always spot-on dialogue, light romance, and other relationships (family and friends). The plot never drags, and the ending is always so satisfying. Thank you, Sunny Palm Press and Jan Moran for the opportunity to read and review the advanced readers’ copy of this terrific book. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.
Ivy and Shelly are preparing for the first gala at the Seabreeze Inn. This gala will present them with the much-needed funds to repair and maintain the inn as a historical landmark in Summer Beach. The VIP guests will soon arrive and the clock is ticking. When the first guest arrives, the future of the inn is in jeopardy. Could Ivy and Shelly lose the inn they have invested everything in to? Can they find a solution in time to save their livelihoods? Everything hangs in the balance as the gala approaches.
This tenth book in the Summer Beach series by Jan Moran is fabulous. The story, the mystery and how the family bands together is definitely a page turner. It was hard to put this one down. Jan weaves together a continued story of two sisters and their extended families seamlessly. The added mystery of the elusive Amelia slowly unravels another clue and I did not want the story to end. I am already excited for the next book. I keep thinking how the story could get any better and am once again surprised at the events that occur. This is my all time favourite series of Ms. Moran. My thanks to Jan Moran for my advanced readers copy which I voluntarily read and reviewed. A solid five stars!
This is book ten in The Summer Beach series and it continues The Seabreeze Inn Story with Ivy and her crew. The Seabreeze Inn is preparing to hold a big Gala to raise money for the upkeep of this beautiful and historic place that has so much history but it takes a lot of money to keep it going and they have special guests arriving that Ivy and Bennett met while on there honeymoon. Seabreeze Inn is a meeting point for so many of The Summer Beach residents because they hold many different events but this Gala is going to be the biggest one yet but as usual it will not be plain sailing and problems will occur. There will be highs and lows along the way but this family, friends and community will always rally around and support each other regardless of what it is or the situation and what they have to do to solve it. You feel like you are there living through it all with them and the description with all the little details are so clear that you can imagine what they look like. There are twists and turns that keep you on your toes along with great characters and an engaging storyline that will have you turning the pages to see what would happen next. I have had the pleasure of reading every single book in this amazing series and I can’t wait to read the next book.
This is the 10th book in the Seabreeze series and Author, Jan Moran continues to bring a fresh story to each book. Ivy and Shelly are planning a Gala to showcase the Seabreeze Inn, the former home of wealthy and art benefactor, Amelia Erickson, as a fundraiser for long overdue and desperately needed repairs to the Inn. Benefactor Viola, owner of another home of Amelia Erickson, offers to help spread the word of the Gala to all her wealthy friends and also agrees to donate to the auction a Victorian diamond necklace that belonged to Amelia Erickson. But not all things go smoothly. There is drama for Ivy as she worries if one of the guests will try to take ownership of the Inn. Bennett, Ivy’s husband is plagued by unfounded rumors that may cost him the mayoral reelection and Sunny, Ivy’s daughter and Poppy, Ivy’s niece are both dating older men that may not have the best of intentions for the girls. Another wonderful book with great characters, a little mystery and a nice touch of romance between wife Ivy and husband Bennett as they support and love each other. I received an early copy from the author and this review is my opinion.
Like visiting a dear friend, this is how I would describe this series. At this point Ivy, Shelley and their families, along with the Seabreeze Inn feel like dear friends that I love to visit sooner rather than later. Even though you could technically read this book as a standalone, I wouldn't recommended, you will lose a lot of the history and the nuances of the interactions and relationships, go grab the series from Book 1 and immerse yourself into a world that will transport you into a family that even with all their flaws will grab you wholeheartedly. On this book Ivy is planning a gala to raise funds to achieve a renovation and fixing of the Seabreeze Inn, but a new character shows up in the story that can threaten everything that Ivy has been working so gard all this years, including losing the Inn, is this young woman really an actual relative of Amelia? If so what would happen to all of them. This might be for me the best book of the series so far, let's see if the next book in the series will change my mind.
Seabreeze Gala is the tenth book in Jan Moran’s Summer Beach Series. This is another wonderful trip to the Seabreeze Inn at Summer Beach. The characters, new and old continue to develop. Ms. Moran’s descriptions get better and better with each book. She takes you to that Inn and beach and you can feel the sand between your toes and smell the ocean. She continues to fill the story with family drama, secrets, friendships and of course, the romance. I look forward to each book!! This is a great beach read!!
Thank you Sunny Palm Press and Jan Moran for this highly entertaining book to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own. #sunnypalmpress #janmoran #seabreezegala. #summerbeachseries
Love how this series keeps building on this fabulous storyline. With this latest book, the fate of the beloved Seabreeze Inn comes into play. There are just too many expensive repairs, and unless something happens to help, the question for Ivy remains whether she can keep it up and running. With the help of many friends, a huge gala, including a fundraising auction is organized. Love all the twists as Ivy and Shelly work hard to get the gala organized. Other surprises happen when Bennett discovers someone else plans to run against him as mayor. Then, the mystery of a visitor from Germany- will that impact Ivy’s plans for Seabreeze Inn. Love how all the pieces come together in the end, but leaves you guessing throughout the book what will happen.
I always love seeing how the characters are doing in Summer Beach. In Seabreeze Gala, Ivy and Shelly are facing ongoing challenges. Bennett has his own worries about the next mayoral election where the main opponent is an unscrupulous man with no qualms about dirty tricks. Baby Daisy is a joy to read about. Ivy continually worries about the running and financing of the Inn so her and Shelly have decided to hold a fundraising Gala event to raise more money to help with the continuing maintenance of the Inn. Daughters Sunny and niece Poppy are learning about relationships and their pitfalls. Its good that mum Ivy, Shelly and Mitch are keeping an eye open and supporting them.
I love Jan's books and the ongoing stories of the Summer Beach characters. I hope there is more to come 🙏
I seem to say this with each new book in the series, but I do enjoy returning to Seabreeze Inn and the people living there and in the community surrounding g it.
The gala is a formal vent during which Ivy and her family need to raise money to repair the old inn. Without a success, they could lost the in due to upkeep costs. Anyone living in an old home, particularly an historic one, knows the upkeep costs are never-ending.
As usual, there are a few bumps or surprises along the way, but everything ties together in a good way. Dealing with old items and memories from around the world can truly make for an interesting story line. Funny how a little inn locate in an obscure little town can reach out over the world.
The residents of Summer Beach and the Seabreeze Inn will draw you into the story. Another great book filled with a little mystery, a little drama and a little romance. It’s been fun to follow the lives of the Ivy, Shelly and the rest of their family and friends in the previous Seabreeze books. This book is just as delightful.
Family is everything and that concept gets tested when an out-of-town guest arrives with secrets of her own. Bennet also finds himself dealing with some competition. Is is possible to resolve all of these issues before the huge gala that will hopefully preserve the Seabreeze Inn?
The only way to find out, is to read this entertaining book.
A Seabreeze Gala is Excellent!! There are so many unexpected twists and turns at the Inn before the big day for the Gala. The Gala turns out to be better than expected. An unexpected guest turns Ivy world upside down. Ivy, Bennett, Shelly &Mitch find out some unexpected news about two older men Poppy and Sunny are dating& it isn't good. As usual there are some real comical episodes spread throughout the book. I am so thrilled this isn't the last book in this fabulous series. I am really looking forward to where Ms. Moran takes us in the next adventure....you will want to come along too!!
I always love visiting Summer Beach and seeing Ivy, Shelly and the others as they always entertain me with what's happening with them as well as learning what new secrets the Inn is going to share with them. There is a potential threat to the ongoing ownership of the Inn, dating disasters as well as someone trying to make ripples in town and under mine Bennett amongst other things which makes this as always an entertaining page turner.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Seabreeze Gala Celebration was a solid progression as there were just enough storylines interwoven to keep my interest. Whether it was a “bad guy” going after one or more of the prime characters, new problems with the inn or an unexpected person from the past arriving on the scene, I once again could not put the book down. There are just enough new characters to keep me guessing about where the story is going as well as a warm feeling for the regulars like Ivy, Bennett, and Shelly! I HAVE READ ALL 10 IN THIS SERIES!!!
Like catching up with friends. That’s how I feel when I read any of the Summer Beach books. In this entry, Ivy is counting on a fundraising gala for the money to repair and restore her historic Inn. But, a new guest may throw a monkey wrench into her plans. Well written and easy to read.
Disclosure: A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
I love reading the next installment of the summer beach series. I just feel it is so long from book to book. Ivy and Shelly have come so far since the first book. I love their extended family and all the people they have befriended. I hope the next book brings more discoveries from Amelia. If you read this review, these are not really standalone books. It is so much better to read the series from the start.
Ivy, Shelly and their family return in the Seabreeze Gala. This is the tenth book in the series and each one just gets better. The family is getting ready for a gala to raise money to cover the costs of renovating the inn. There is to be a dinner and auctions on numerous things. Many people are arriving for the gala, including a woman from Germany. The reason for her being there, is a mystery. This book, as well as the others in the series, has mystery, romance and just a feel good story.
What a great story! Loved all the characters in Summer Beach. Jan Moran's descriptions of the water, scenery and people make you wish you could visit and stay. Ivy, Shelley and the rest of the family put on a gala to help with renovations of the Seabreeze Inn. There is a silent and live auction. Love all the treasures they find throughout all the stories and how they keep the life of Amelia and Gustav alive.
