Olivia ‘Liv’ Taylor is on a lukewarm case—the murder of famous quilting instructor and author, Terry Van Bosch. This social media influencer is out to make a name for herself and her club, the Catch a Killer Club, even if no one else is available to assist.
On her first solo mission, Liv utilizes every tool in her arsenal, including The Mystery Book Nook, an online forum, to pull on every thread, and needle all the details, while dining in cozy New England restaurants.
Will Liv pin down the culprit, or will the murderer remain unbound?

Kathryn Mykel, is an award-winning author of best-selling Sewing Suspicion, book 1 in the Quilting Cozy Mystery Series.
Inspired by the laugh-out-loud and fanciful aspects of cozies, Kathryn Mykel writes lighthearted, humorous cozies surrounding her passion for the craft of quilting. She's an avid quilter who was born and raised in a small New England town.
This was the 2024 Cozy Mystery Reader Tribe Book Club book of March. Liv's first solo case but she isn't alone. This book combines the love of quilting with a cozy mystery and is an enjoyable read. I am looking forward to the discussion with the author in the Facebook group.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. There will not be any spoilers in this review.
As someone who has quilted for years (though not so much anymore), I was very interested in reading a book that combined this beloved pastime with mystery. I was not disappointed.
Liv, the main character, is handling her first solo case as the rest of the crew is busy with their own jobs or cases, which leads her to rely on her intuition and remember what her grandfather (a former detective) taught her. We follow her through interviewing suspects, reviewing evidence, and falling in love. When reading this, it felt very realistic to what a real (semi-amateur) sleuth would do, from being nervous about messing it up to reinterviewing people.
This was a fantastic read! The storyline isn't too complex- it is easy to keep track of all the characters and their roles. It's not very intense, which is always a concern for murder mysteries. The writing style flows very well and is relatively simplistic, but not in a bad way. I definitely recommend this read!
The police have reached a dead end and in desperation James hires The Catch a Killer Club to try and solve the crime. The club is definitely interested but most members are currently tied up with their everyday jobs except for Liv so off she goes on her first solo case. Liv is fun and interesting and determined to solve the crime and she along with the other characters are really people you'd like to be around. Through many twists and turns and more than a couple big surprises Liv and James persist in their efforts and with advice from the clue finds the killer. Had absolutely no clue who did it until the big reveal. I really enjoyed the book; really great read and I highly recommend.
This was a fun, quick easy read. And it’s a little different than the usual cozies, so that was refreshing. Instead of solving a mystery that happens in their business or a friend is accused, the premise here is a mystery solving club that takes on unsolved cases. But unfortunately, Liv is on the own because the rest of the club is busy. I’m hoping in future books, there will be more involvement of the group members. I really liked Liv’s character, even if her detecting skills seemed a little all over the place. We don’t really get to know the group in this one but they seemed nice. I received this book as a free ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I feel as though I've just finished eating my favorite meal, contented and happily relaxed, that's what a wonderfully well written cozy mystery makes me feel after the discovery of who done it. The mane characters are vibrant, charming and a little quirky. Of course this wouldn't be a cozy mystery with out a deadly schemer hidden in plain sight. I was so immersed in this delightful mystery that I was taken by surprised when I came by the unexpected and climatic conclusion. It may be a short read, but it's inpactful. Acquire " Fine Points are Sketchy " ( A Quilting Cozy Mystery)so that you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. Kat
Quilting never sounded so exciting! Ms. Mykel sews in murder and mystery to this quilted story. Liv is called in to solve a murder of an infamous quilter and cozy mystery author. With all her murder club pals busy doing their day jobs, Liv heads into this as a single sleuth. Trusting her instincts, she accepts help from the handsome brother of the victim. Things are not always what they seem, especially when what is invisible craves to be seen. Will the truth be revealed? Will Liv make another sleuth partner? Curious? Well read this quilted tale.
The Catch A Killer Club is asked to investigate the mysterious death of a famous quilting instructor and cozy author. The police have quickly closed the with minimal investigation. The victim’s brother wants the club to find the killer but only Liv is available. This is her first solo case and all the clues seem to be a dead end.
This is a good cozy mystery with a hint at a possible future romance. It kept me guessing. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
This is an awesome cozy mystery. When Liv started to solve her first solo mystery she didn't think she could do it.On her first solo mission, Liv utilizes every tool in her arsenal, including The Mystery Book Nook, an online forum, to pull on every thread, and needle all the details, while dining in cozy New England restaurants. Will Liv pin down the culprit, or will the murderer remain unbound? I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
This is a stand-alone book by Kathryn Mykel in the Mystery Book Nook Shared world and the first in the trilogy, along with Details Are Sketchy and Facts Are Sketchy.
I’d rate this as 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 since it is first in a series. It was a cute story and Liv is a likable character but her investigation skills were a bit lacking. It will be interesting to see if Liv is solo next time or if the rest of the group is available too.
Thank you to the author for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Liv, a quilter who is an internet influencer and part of a mystery-solving group, takes on her first solo case. She really wants to be like her actual detective grandfather and is really worried about “proving herself” as an amateur detective.
She starts out with a flimsy file with basically no helpful information and has to dig hard to figure out this case. You’ll enjoy the well-written characters as you watch Liv at work.
Fun first book of a new trilogy. Can’t wait to read the other books!
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
It was a fine story of who did the murder of a famous writer. Olivia belongs to a group of people who get hired to help find the clues killers leave and call themselves "Catch a Killer Club. Everyone else is busy, so Olivia has the case by herself. Meeting with James, the victim's brother, they go see where the body was found and talking to her secretary Francine, who didn't have much to tell them other check out a girl named Sally. Finding all the angles and the why's is a difficult job. Good reading
I throughly enjoyed this Quilting Cozy Mystery Book by Kathryn Mykel as with all her books! Kathryn keeps you guessing right up to the end! I would recommend this book to everyone who loves cozy mystery’s. I always enjoy reading books themed around sewing, but sewing wasn’t the focus so if you don’t enjoy that hobby. No problem, you will still enjoy this book! One thing that I am curious about is how does the main character support herself financially? She was able to work on this case without concern money wise. Just my inquiring mind working here!
Liv and her six friends are quilters and solve crimes. When a famous author and quilter is murdered Liv must try to solve this on her own as the other friends can’t join her this time She meets the murdered victims brother, who hired her to solve the case, and the two of them become a team A very enjoyable book. Interesting and easy to read. I received an advance review copy, ARC, for free, and I am leaving an honest opinion and voluntary review
Olivia Taylor is a member of the Catch a Killer Club but when murder calls again, she has to answer it solo. A famous quilter has been murdered and the police are stymied. The quilter's brother, however, decides to reach out to Olivia and her club for help. The two team up to tackle this mystery and finally unravel the clues to discover the truth. This is a quick and easy read.
I'm a member of the ARC team and have left an honest review voluntarily.
Another enjoyable cozy mystery by Kathryn Mykel. A cleverly written and thoroughly enjoyable book as Olivia takes on a crime investigation as a solo investigator. Olivia's sharp eyes and the online support of her friends in the Catch the Killer Club kept me thoroughly engaged. I recommend this book and others by this author.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am providing my honest opinion.
This is a really quick read about a lady that is a quilter. Terri Verdan Bosch is murdered in her studio and the police ran out of leads so her brother comes to a "Catch a Killer Club" to find out who did it. Liv Taylor is the only one available to do the sleuthing this time and does a great job and solves the case.
There is a famous writer murdered and the cops don't do much to solve the case. So the brother of the victim hires a lady named Olivia (Liv) Taylor. She has an online group called Catch a Killer Club. He wanted help finding who killed his sister. They do find out who killed his sister and Liv finds a boyfriend as well. You will have to read the book to find out who the killer is!!
It’s been my dream to become a world-famous detective!
I’ve loved everything this author has written, up to now, and it’s most likely my age showing. While the story was entertaining, the premise...a social media influencer working with an online detection club to solve murders had me rolling my eyes. I’m sure it’s a perfectly delightful story for a younger audience but it wasn’t for me.
When a famous quilter is murdered, Liv tackles the case alone, as her usual sleuthing companions have conflicts. This fun mystery is the first I have read by this author. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.
This was a fun, quick read. I haven't read any others in this series, so I was intrigued. The main character seems to be quite innocent but is able to catch the killer in the end.
Thank you to the author and publisher for my ARC. All views are my own.
I enjoyed this book a lot, read in one sitting ! Liv is on her own for the first time as the mystery club members are all otherwise engaged, will she be able to figure out what happened before it's too late?
Quilting and sleuthing! What more could you want? It’s fun to follow Liv as she puzzles out the clues! A very enjoyable read that I couldn’t put down! I was gifted with an early copy and this is my honest opinion.
Almost on her own. Having your crew/friends is so helpful. Unfortunately for Liv they are all busy, just when Terry snuffs it. So solo it is! Luckily Terry's brother is helping, wanting to get justice for her.
I have read Kathry Mikel books prior I didn’t find this one as good. She kept accusing the wrong person of the crime in person. I would find it interesting to be in a club solving mysteries.
Although I suspected the murderer right away, Mykel does an excellent job making me doubt my suspicions. Fun whodunnit that keeps you guessing to the final showdown.
I loved this book. Liv has to solve mystery without her whole crew with her. The case is tricky, and the victim's brother is hunky. Will she be able to keep objective as she tries to solve this case?
