Lexa Dean and the Wellspring

Rate this book
A treasure that could change the galaxy and a woman chasing a dangerous dream.

Dr. Alexandra "Lexa" Dean is an exoarchaeologist in search of hidden alien treasures. And if the museum paid better, she wouldn't sell the best of her finds to the highest bidder.

When her contact delivers a map to the origins of all life, and the key to unlocking it is the artifact she just fenced to a wealthy socialite, she must devise a plan to steal it back.

But the aliens she stole it from first are closing in and the socialite is hot on her tail. If she can't shake them, she'll risk losing the fame and fortune she's always dreamed of, her life, or worse.

From the author who brought you a cure for the zombie apocalypse in the Reclamation Series and a demon with amnesia in Give Me Grace , comes a treasure-hunting romp through space where Indiana Jones meets The Fifth Element .

Bethany grew up in the South, transplanted to the West, and has visited just about anywhere in between. She’s got a day job, and a family, and at night she writes.

Her favorite author is Stephen King, and she owes more than she can explain to Supernatural. No matter the medium, storytelling has held her in thrall for decades. She enjoys travelling down the road of the macabre, but mainly in order to discover the beauty hiding within the human spirit when it is pushed beyond normal boundaries. We face the monsters on the page so we can face the darkness within ourselves, and come out the other side of them both as changed people.

Lexa Dean and the Wellspring by Bethany Perry is a sci-fi adventure that will keep you on the edge of your flight deck seat. The book follows Lexa Dean, a fearless female archeologist who explores the galaxy in search of ancient artifacts and secrets. She faces many challenges and dangers, including deadly traps, ruthless enemies, powerful aliens - and her remarkably self-centered mother. Being Lexa Dean is a tough job, but being her ally is no walk in the park (space) either.

The book is fast-paced and engaging, with witty dialogues and well-developed characters. Lexa is a strong and likable heroine, who balances her passion for archeology with her sense of humor and compassion. And her cat. The plot is full of twists and turns, keeping you hooked until the end. The book offers a vivid and imaginative description of aliens, alien worlds and its customs. The book explores themes such as the origin of life, the value of history, and the meaning of friendship.

If you are a fan of sci-fi, adventure, and comedy, you will enjoy Lexa Dean and the Wellspring. It is a fun and captivating read that will make you laugh, gasp, and chuckle.

Our heroine didn't really know what she had until she sold it. Now she has to get it back at all costs.

This is space opera story with aliens and plenty of adventure. The story is well written, easy to read and a lot of fun. The setting is well done and has lots of fun details to explore. The characters are just as well done and I really like our heroine who is tough and smart, if perhaps in it over her head. The plot moves at a good pace and definitely kept me engaged throughout. Overall, I quite enjoyed this story and I look forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

The story follows Lexa and her second attempt to steal back an item, once from aliens and again from a wealthy socialite. Along her journey, Lexa has plenty of characters against her. Equally, there is a good number of characters who support her on her mission. This is a character-driven story, exploring Lexa's background and her friends' past.
