Another good Jeremy Bates book! Edoardo is a house painter who drives around the country going door to door looking for a house to paint. He only wants to paint the outside because he does not like to be stuck inside all day. In a small town he quickly finds someone who wants her house painted. Instead of renting a motel room for the week Edoardo checks airbnb for somewhere to stay and finds a tree house. He is paying with cash so he goes to the owner who lives in a cabin next to the tree house. Edoardo is content with the tree house and the job he has coming up until the owner tells him she is an author who is writing a book about someone who kills the people staying in their airbnb. Things go downhill for Edoardo after that. There is a wild twist toward the end! Good book!

This is a hard one to review. It’s enjoyable for the most part but there are some impediments to making it a higher result. Would anyone really turn murderous after one death?
The prologue sets up the choices part but the change in narrative style is a little off putting. The book needed some more editing.
Lisa Curry changes to Lucy Curry. A minor thing probably unnoticed by most.
Overall, it’s a quick read and likeable.

Short blunt and to the point. Was it all just poor choices or bad luck, some people say it’s the same thing. I don’t know I guess you’ll have to read it to find out for yourself. But remember we all make choices.

Fast read. Quirky. Overall enjoyable bedtime read. But the Epilogue is so implausible I’m amazed the author’s editor didn’t override and force a rewrite. Maybe just don’t read that very last chapter!
