Rancher Seeks His Wanderer is the fourth book of Marley Michael's series, Bull Mountain Ranch. This is a standalone book, however, if you enjoy the antics of the humans and animals in this wild corner of Alaska, I would recommend reading the whole series. It's a lot of fun and has plenty of funny moments. I personally love when Duck Norris, the resident duck, gets up to his usual shenanigans.
The premise of the series is simple, and almost supernatural. The spirit guardians of Bull Mountain and near by mountains decided that the local families, i.e. the guardians of the land, needed to be rewarded by having a one true love. Bull Ranch has been the stories of one family finding their true loves. In this book, Toby, who longs for a love similar to his brothers, meets new ranch hand who came to Alaska for adventure, Dee.
Dee's family moved to Montana from Australia when she was fifteen and for her 28th birthday she got a one way ticket for an adventure. Meeting the men of Bull Mountain Ranch and getting a job there wasn't meant to be permanent. However, Dee and Toby have a gentle romance. Toby falls for Dee right away but he doesn't want to scare her. He wants her to see that there are reasons to stay before he makes his move to date, or even kiss, her.
I enjoyed the book, however, I found some of the Australian references a little clunky in places. I would say that's probably because I'm Australian and overly sensitive. While much of Dee's character feels right, there also seems to be some rather exaggerated "Aussie moments" by Dee and her family. But the moment when there was mention of drop bears did amuse me.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
