Small towns are filled with living memories. For Autumn, reminders of how much she has lost and how little she has achieved haunt her every step. One thing is she wants out of Hayse Haven. When she isn’t waiting tables in town, Autumn moonlights as the anonymous writer of the Hayse Haven Herald’s advice column under the pen name, Silence. When an unusual letter is written for her to answer, she decides it’s the perfect time to reveal her identity and force her editor to finally give her some more important news pieces to cover. When the wealthiest man in town is murdered a day after the paper is published and a line from her latest article is the only evidence left at the scene, Autumn becomes part of the investigation as the sheriff scrambles for answers. Now she, along with the officer who has held a torch for her since high school, must find the murderer who is taunting them with Autumn’s words as things in their small town continue to go awry. With death lurking around every corner, tensions run high between the pair as feelings resurface amid the turmoil. Will Autumn solve the murder before it’s too late, or is this one question she can’t answer?
I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery romance! I loved the way the author described the people, places, and various scenes with such descriptive adjectives! It made the whole story come alive! I loved the fall theme of the book and am so glad I read it on the first day of fall! Autumn and Drew's romantic relationship was beautiful. I liked how Drew gave her the space she needed but still let her know he loved and wanted her every chance he got. The mystery was great! It kept me guessing the entire book, and I loved all of the plot twists the author wove into the story. All in all, it was a wonderful book, and I'm so glad I read it! Leann Cotton is a born writer, and I'm glad she got this story out to the world! I look forward to reading more from her!
5/5 🌶️🌶️…This book brought me back to my love for Nancy Drew novels 🕵️♀️ but just add some slow-burn romance and some spice 🫠 Was sucked in by trying to solve the mystery and loved the small town/ autumnal vibes in this book. Loved the pop-culture references in this book also… “ Sixteen Candles &“ Scooby Doo” lol 😂 I really enjoyed reading this wonderful book by Miss Leann Cotton 🥰🧡
What a lovely read! I was captivated by the mystery and it had me guessing the entire time. The romance was sweet and I loved Autumn as a character. She was heartbroken yet determined, willing to help anyone but herself. That is until Andrew came along and made her confront her past and theirs. Can’t wait to read what Leann publishes next! I give such credit to indie authors for putting their heart and hard work out there on their own.
This was a fun read. If you loved reading Nacy Drew and watching glimore girls. You'll enjoy this book. It's definitely a cozy, fun fall mystery book with a heartwarming romance included.
It had a slow start, but started to really pick up when the investigation started. I was so invested and couldn’t put it down until I found out who the murderer was. The perfect spooky and cozy fall read. Also, the nickname, Lovely Autumn, to die for!
okay the first half of the book almost had me dnf butttt i'm glad i stuck it out because it was actually really good! the romance was giving slow burn but i wished they would've found out what happened to autumns mom.
UGH THIS BOOK!! i loved it so much. the writing, the characters, the plot and how it went AND I CALLED IT! I CALLED THE KILLER!!! ugh i loved it i’ll miss autumn and andrew and the adventures. i think i’ll miss everyone (but the killer) IF YOU ARE DEBATING TO READ IT; DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT
This dragged on. I almost DNF’d but everyone in reviews said it picked up for the murder mystery. It was mediocre. I wasn’t shocked at the end and there was just too many people to follow. Didn’t really look at all.
Great read! Was easy to immediately get into the story & was hooked on finding out the layers of the mystery. And the brewing romance 🔥😏 excited to read the series to see how more things unfold!
This was a fun read. If you loved reading Nacy Drew and watching glimore girls. You'll enjoy this book. It's definitely a cozy, fun fall mystery book with a heartwarming romance included.
I loved this book! It takes place at the end of October and has great fall and Halloween vibes. Yes it was a little cheesy during parts but i love a good murder mystery and this delivered!
The Silence of Fall wasn’t all the good but I did like it enough to finish it. It’s a murder mystery book that’s based in a small town in fall and you have to catch up on the backstory of the main characters. Autumns mom died in a car accident picking up her and her date, Andrew from prom and she never forgave herself. Andrew’s still in love with her and they have a 10 YEARS long tension that she decides to stop ignoring while on the case (the author wrote in smut scenes that I just didn’t feel fit with the genre or plot of the book). She’s an advice journalist and the murderer keeps leaving slips of her last advice column around the scenes (the advice was to her dad who has written a letter about finally starting over since his wife’s death). It was also obvious the murderer was the editor at the newspaper Autumn worked for. Clyde the man murdered was partly responsible for the towns drug problems, Dan was trying to nail him for a story. Since the police hadn’t investigated the tips Dan was sending he thought killing Clyde would force their hand.

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. :) I don’t like this book, I had to force myself to finish it. I characters felt bland and with no real depth. The friends to lovers aspect made no sense and cringed me out. There was no reason why they couldn’t get together and absolutely no chemistry between them. The murder mystery was also very underdeveloped. Why was she brought on to solve the crime. And the motive for the murderer in the end also didn’t make sense. This is just what I thought of it so do with what you will.
