A beautiful comic offering a crisp, readable summary of the feud triggered by the Golden Apple, the Fall of Troy, and the Trojan horse story. The dialogs have been given a humorous twist suitable for the modern reader, and the illustrations are splendid.

Risking your life for love, is that a good thing ? This is a common theme with '' Trojan Horse '' because is about love and war. Paris meets the woman, Helen. He wants to get married with her but she already got married with the Greek King. But, The Greek King doesn’t like this situation and enters in war with the Trojans. The war lasts ten years. The Greeks build a wooden horse and the Trojans think that it’s a gift of the goddess Athena. It’s the most exciting moment of the story. " The Trojan's Horse"
What would you do to hear someone saying you are more beautiful than two other goddesses ? Well, in the the graphic novel “The Trojan’s Horse”, written by Justin and Ron Fontes, the goddess Aphrodite decides to promise Paris the most beautiful women, Helen, to get the Golden Apple. But she doesn’t tell him that she is already married to the Greeks' king, King Menelaus. The problems start when Paris kidnaps Helen because of Aphrodite’s promise. A war starts between the Trojans and the Greeks, who want their Queen Helen back. The war continues 10 years before the Greeks decide to trick the Trojans and build a wooden horse with soldiers inside. But who will finally win the war? This is a story about conflict and war, that teaches us about the importance of the persons we love.

Summary of the Trojan horse

What would you do if your wife was taken away from you to marry a stranger?
This is what king Menelaus from Greece did...The Trojan horse is a Greek myth adapted by Justine & Ron Fontes, Gordon Purcell and Barbara Schultz into a graphic novel. The story is about the war between Troy and Greece. It started because Helen, who is the wife of the king of Greece, fell in love with Paris, prince of Troy. Paris decided to marry Helen in Troy. That's why king Menelaus from Greece decided to attack him. This war lasted for ten years and caused a lot of dead. But one day, the Greeks came up with an idea that could end this war as quickly as it started. It was the Trojan horse. It was very risky and the book tells you how it worked out and who won this bloody war...This story teaches us about fidelity and trust.

Boy, the god(desse)s sure were jerks. (Not that Helen is that much better, going along with all this...)

The classic Greek myth about how Troy fell in graphic novel form, though honestly... the horse doesn't seem that "beautiful" to me. Like, they had ATHENA'S help, and it still just looks large and horse-shaped. That's my main criticism of the art—the rest seems pretty much on point from what I remember without having to consult the internet (something I like to avoid doing since it slows down my reading speed).

On the whole, a decent adaptation of the myth... though, of course, it still doesn't endear me to the cruel shenanigans of deities, haha.

The Trojan Horse: The Fall of Troy was a good book. It showed the reason why the battle for 10 years started and also why Troy was defeated. The war started because of Queen Helen of Sparta was taken from her husband by the Trojan prince Paris. So the king of Sparta wanted to send his brother Agamemnon to retrieve her, he was joined by Achilles, Odysseus, Nestor, and Ajax and they all went to go look for her with more than a thousand ships. The battle lasted for 10 years and at the end the Greeks decided to build a horse and leave it at the beach. The Trojans took the horse as an offering from the gods but little did they know Greeks were inside the horse waiting for it to turn dark. When all the Trojans well asleep the Greeks caught them all off guard and killed them and retrieved the queen. In the end when the Greeks were crossing the ocean Poseidon cursed them and they didn't get there until a few years later

While the illustration in this book was fairly good, the dialogue was pretty plain. There was a lot of telling versus showing. If it hadn’t have been a read for my push to finish my 2020 reading challenge, I would regret reading it. One saving point: I learned more about the context of the Trojan horse story.

A very good retelling of the Fall of Troy, both as a complete story, while also showing how it is part of many other and larger stories.

This is a perfect book for teachers to use during any Greek mythology unit. It starts from the beginning detailing everyone that will play a part in the book and goes into detail about how Paris will bring down the empire as he chooses Aphrodite to be the most beautiful woman and later sees Helen of Troy and makes Aphrodite even angrier saying that she is the most beautiful now. Pitting the two brother's army's at war when he wooed Helen to be with him starts the war that ends with the Trojans believing this massive wooden horse is a statue bestowed upon them by Athena for their spirit in the wars, but it ends up being packed full of soldiers from the opposing side ready to strike once the word came. Once the towers of Troy fell Helen was reunited with her husband Menelaus and as they rowed home they came to find out they angered Poseidon and he will take his wrath out on them in another story.

It's great to see a story as it was intentionally written and not what Hollywood would like us to think a better story line for them. Great details but a bit long for the younger crowd but still a great book for kids to see pictures of everything and follow along to great folk stories and myths.

The myth of the Trojan Horse is one of the best myths and an integral part of the epic poem “The Iliad.” There seems little doubt that there was a lengthy war between Greece and Troy that took place around 1200 B. C. so there has been plenty of time for the artifacts to disappear and the legends to arise.
Whatever actually happened, some of it was preserved in the poem “The Iliad” that was verbally passed from generation to generation before it was finally put down on parchment. It is a true classic of Western Civilization that all educated people should be familiar with.
While this graphic novel gives some historical context for the war as well as the system of gods worshipped by the Greeks, the emphasis is on the myth of the wooden horse and the role it supposedly played in the defeat of Troy. It is a compact and entertaining introduction to one of the foundation stories of the western world.
I have long been a proponent of using educational content in whatever form it exists, including graphic novels and comic books. This short book is an excellent way to introduce young students to one of few myths that may have some factual justification as well as what may have been one of the first great wars in the western world.

My Review: I really enjoyed this graphic novel though the Trojan Horse was only a portion of it. It was a great overview of the Trojan War, though brief, from beginning to end. The artwork was great and suited the subject matter. All in all it was a great, and as said brief, overview of the war itself with some extra focus and the end result with the Trojan Horse.

After reading this I realized why know one really knows much about the story of Troy. The whole thing STINKS. Okay, so it's mildly interesting, but there is no clear good guy or bad guy, lots of people die for no very good reason, weird stuff happens that doesn't make much sense. I guess this could be an illustration of the stupidity of war. This comic is a little graphic for young readers.

Part of a collection of Mythology Graphic Novels I picked up for my classroom. Good for helping to build background knowledge but not necessarily great. Kids will devour these.
