The author of the Low-Carb Cookbook returns with a new collection of 165 new recipes designed to maintained the low-carbohydrate diet over the long haul and furnishes helpful tips on how to deal with eating binges, maintain weight loss, cope with temptation, and more. 60,000 first printing.
I liked this as an overall review of different low-carb eating plans out there.
It is old, but still seemed pretty relevant and in fact contained a lot of the research that is JUST starting to make headlines lately, about how we've been completely duped by the whole low-fat, high-starch bullsh*t. It does dismiss Paleo as "too restrictive" and doesn't give it much credence, and of course was written before Primal became the newer thing.
Be warned it is about half cookbook and really ought to have been in the cookbook section...
I like how this book explains the different types of diets, deatiled in who created which ones and how they can benefit people. It also has tons of helpful tips that anyone can incorporate into their daily lives. From page 115 up to 353 is filled with many great recipes. I wasn't a big fan on how the author made it very clear that they disliked low fat diets, especially since they had their gallbaldder removed. I did like that they explained good and bad fats and went into how to find the bad fats and gave tips to avoid them. Very thorough and science based, although some facts are outdated since this book is a little old and new theories and discoveries happen everyday.
I had so many bookmarks in this book that I decided to head over to Amazon and buy my own copy. I loved that it was background info - the diets, the supplements, the background, the science - just enough to make a low carb lifestyle make sense. It really helped me figure out what I needed to do next to start moving toward low carb for myself, and lower carb for my family.
A really informative book for people looking to get into a low carb program long term. Lots of good, useful information. Even if you think you know all there is to know about low carb, this is a great book to have in your library.
This is the best low carb book period. If you are a sugar, bread and ice cream addict that has digestion issues and a slow metabolism, this diet/lifestyle is the answer you've been asking for!
