I enjoyed this story. Duke Henry is rumoured to be illegitimate and is looked down upon by the ton. He meets Lady Emma at a ball but their innocent conversation is discovered and they marry to save Emma's reputation. Henry tries hard to protect Emma from rumour and gossip but it is hard for him when the rumours about him still keep coming. Who is spreading them? When rumours begin about Emma as well they decide to seek out the culprit. Their discovery leads to unpleasantness but in the end allows them to move forward in their relationship and find love together. A good story.
Emma and Henry’s first meeting started out kinda fun but of course there had to be some meddlesome individuals. Poor Emma tries her best to make the best out of her circumstances but stubborn Henry has to be a stick in the mud. But I really enjoyed how they began to learn to communicate and turn things around. Love how Emma did her best to get down to the bottom of a long standing mystery.
Ms. Bennet has outdid herself in this one! Emma tightened into a corset, so tight she can’t breathe, goes to the library in hopes of relaxing and catch her breath the one man on her mother’s list just happens to enter the library, and sees her in distress, loosens her corset! They talk and of course they get caught! But the best I’d yet to come!
This is a wonderful love story. Full of false beliefs and information bandied about. This couple genuinely deserved to be happy. Great storyline and character development.
This story shows how jealousy in a family can nearly destroy lives when it is allowed to go uncheck. Fortunately Henry meets Emma and learns to love her and she helps him solve the problem of jealousy.
Cute little story. He was labeled illegitimate and she bound to save her family. Fate stepped in and saved them both. I couldn't believe the uncle did this to him spreading lies, didn't see that coming
This book is kind of weird. The dialogue is confusing at times and it’s written in a way that removes the reader from the story. It has potential as a story and it’s not poorly written in terms of grammar and language. Maybe just not my cup of tea.
From the beginning to the end this lovely tale is scandalous, filled with intrigue, mystery, tenderness with passion, romance, love and humor! The ending is delicious.
This was okay. It took a while to discover the villain, but I felt Emily's parents were the true villains. The way they treated their daughter was criminal.
