I enjoyed this patriotic devotional, although there is a lot of repetition between the author’s books (I’ve read 3 of them I believe). Still, his inspirational writing with historical roots is always interesting.

It's my opinion that this small unimposing book should be the in briefcase, home office shelf, or glove box of every mayor, commissioner, senator, congressman, judge, military man , sheriff, policeman, president, and one for yourself. Truly a book for every American.

God's Promises For The American Patriot by Dr. Richard G. Lee and Jack Countryman is small in size, but what's inside packs a punch. Meant to be read like a daily devotional although the pages are not dated as such. Sure you could read through it quickly and get some benefit from it's pages. But the quotes, letters, notes, along with accompanying scripture passages are sure to get you to thinking and that is what you should do. Read one and contemplate then what you have read. It's not a difficult read and will surly get you to thinking.

As for myself after reading this I wondered how in the world did the concept of Separation of Church and State ever come about and the evil the misinterpretation of it has done to our nation. With so many of our leaders throughout this nations history believing in God and his promises to this nation. With our nation in dire need of His blessings in taking care of the deficit, jobs, housing, medical care, security, and more, it is imperative that we know where to go, and of who to receive guidance.

At $10.34 for the hardback edition and $4.99 for the paperback edition it will be a great gift for anyone on your list. Covering a variety of topics from historical leaders of our country in short two page readings that will give you subjects to contemplate throughout your day, it's certainly well worth it. I'm very thankful to have this one on our bookshelf from BookSneeze and will be using it on a daily basis. I give this one a 5 star rating for the relevance to our lives

For more than 200 years God’s promises have led our country. Enjoy these stories of heroes, past and present, who’ve devoted their lives to establishing and shaping America on the promises of God. Experience those same promises from the Bible in your life today.

These are the words on the back cover of the Deluxe Leather Edition of God’s Promises for the American Patriot. As a Christian who is passionate about her adopted country, I hoped for a book that would renew my faith in God and theUnited Statesand show that, despite attempts to show the contrary, America was truly founded on Christian principles.

Thankfully, this is a book that does just that. It begins with George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1789, and continues through to The Battle Hymn of the Republic which was written by Julia Ward Howe in 1861. None of the writings are in chronological order – I think the earliest statement is from 1607 and the most recent from 1995 – which makes it more than a history lesson. Wherever you open the book, you are faced with a text about a historical figure and a quote regarding their faith on the left page, and Bible verses on a similar theme to the quote on the right.

With so much going on in the country today, this book should be a reassurance to us. No matter what others may say, this country was founded on Christian principles and faith has continued to a vital part of this country’s success. In today’s uncertain times, give this book to anyone who might be beginning to doubt this amazing truth.

My review copy was from Thomas Nelson’s Booksneeze review program. The opinions contained in this review are my own unless otherwise stated.

God’s promises have led our country for over 200 years. GOD’S PROMISES FOR THE AMERICAN PATRIOT gives stories of our nation’s heroes, past and present, who’ve devoted their lives to establishing and shaping America on the promises of God.

Included in the book in individual daily readers are a selection of verses (usually about three or four, and a short essay or quotation from one of our heroes. There is an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence, a quotation from the “Father of the American Space Program” Wernher von Braun, quotations from Daniel Webster, Franklin Roosevelt, and other notable American patriots.

This hardcover book has an absolutely beautiful cover on it, and is suitable for gift giving for your own American hero. I love the daily readings so even those who aren’t into reading a lot of nonfiction can get a daily dose of historical readings, and scripture verses that relate to the topic. If you are looking for a great gift for your patriot, veteran, or military, or even civilian, then pick up GOD’S PROMISES FOR THE AMERICAN PATRIOT today. $14.99. 197 pages.

With the belief that God’s Word and America’s story are inseparable, Dr. Richard G. Lee and Jack Countryman have put together a beautiful hardcover book full of scripture, quotes and historical facts. A wonderful gift for the patriot in your life or your own personal library, this book would also be beautiful in a display for those who enjoy “Americana” decor. This book reads almost like a devotional in that on every page there is a story to go along with scriptures. You will learn interesting facts such as the origin of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, the prayer published by Conrad Hilton (related to the other famous Hilton) in major magazines, William Samuel Johnson’s speech to Columbia University, the history of Sunday school and more.

For anyone who loves facts about our nation’s history, this book is beautifully put together with vintage looking pages, interesting photographs and artwork and is the perfect size for display.

In a time where the voices of our forefathers seem to be quietly fading, this book is a great reminder of the principles and values our nation was founded on.

God’s Promises for the American Patriot is a very nice gift book for anyone who is interested in the link between the Bible and the heroes and events that helped form our nation. In the pages of this beautiful book you will find many nuggets of history as well as the thoughts and views of many of our famous statesmen, presidents, and historical figures from our nation’s past. The book is visually appealing and is presented in the format of a two page spread for each subject. On one page is a story, thought or description of an event or person from history and on the other page are corresponding scriptures that go with it. Inside this volume is proof positive that our nation was founded on Godly principles. With the padded flag printed cover, and the convenient compact size, this book would make a nice gift and could be used for a devotional. It will definitely encourage the true patriot in pride for his country.

I received this complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson Publishing through their BookSneeze program. A positive review was not required and the opinions expressed here are my own.

I picked up this book due to is small its size, this is not a quick read as I was expecting. The book is a series of small bits showing the Christian faiths involvement in this nation and its people, followed by a few passages from the bible.

My only complaints are relating to those passages. At times, I felt the verses had little context to the chapter, and a few times I felt he reused them. This in all is a minor thing to me, as over all the majority where related clearly.

Had a lot of interesting history about different Americans and their Christian faith on one side of each page and then verses that kind of related to the information. I don’t understand the title of the book because it wasn’t really about promises.
