Hi there! I'm Josie Sherrill—story lover, proud grandma, and forever curious adventurer. I spent over 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and now I work in the technology field. These days, I also write stories to spark imagination, adventure, and just a little bit of mystery. I live with my husband Scott, and when I'm not writing or spending time with our amazing grandchildren, I'm dreaming up the next big idea that might just jump off the page!
Back in high school, I spent countless afternoons at a local convenience store, dropping quarters into arcade games like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Frogger. I wasn’t the best at playing, but I was hooked by the technology and the thrill of stepping into a different world, even for just a few minutes.
Now, as an indie author, I bring that same sense of wonder and curiosity to my books — inviting readers into imaginative adventures filled with heart, fun, and just a hint of retro magic.
"Just for Fun" Facts:
Favorite writing time: Early morning, when the world is quiet and the ideas flow.
Favorite classic game: Frogger (before the speed gets too fast).
Favorite dream game world to live in: Working in the control center of a space station. I'd love to play Starbase Defender; imagine the advancements!

Epic sci fi with great world building

The Reset starts on Earth in 2259 with an alien observer. Darneaus must report back to the Keepers on his findings and it's not looking good for Earth!
The main protagonist Menace Garcia is likable and interesting. The world building and plot is pretty epic with lots of detail and background story for everyone.
However, it is need of an edit and is littered with mistakes. They are not so bad as to ruin the great story but they are very distracting... Like putting a coma after speech marks instead of before. Spelling words like error instead of err.
I would give this book 5 stars for the story and 3 for the editing.

A fun twist on apocalyptic Earth

This is an interesting twist on the apocalyptic Earth concept. It is very much the first part of a series and follows the travails of humanity’s survivors following an apocalyptic event on Earth. There are a few issues with the text, but overall this is an interesting first instalment and leaves much to explore later in the series.

The story centres around Mena Garcia, who is part of a dynasty which is pioneering space travel. Mena is a bit rogue and finds herself in the thick of it when an apocalyptic event hits Earth. And what’s the source of this event? It’s a group of aliens called ‘keepers’ who have reset Earth because humanity is doing such a poor job of looking after it. Perhaps some justification there then…

The book is written from multiple POVs which are generally split by chapters - though there is unexpected head hopping in places. A few errors have crept into the text, and there are sections which divert to flashbacks which can be a bit disorientating, but overall I enjoyed it. The concept is a good one and there are threads which become apparent throughout the book. There are also some colourful characters which bring it to life.

There's a lot of telling. The author should show readers instead of telling us things that happened. The prose becomes a sort of monologue in this situation. A few misspellings here and there and issues with punctuation. Things like this got in the way. Nothing is perfect, I get it. Found mistakes like that even in Harry Potter. Despite the imperfections, I found the story itself to have potential.
