Rejected by my fated mate. Exiled and unable to shift. And I'm going into heat thanks to the mate bond...
Three fierce, rogue alphas are all that stand between me and certain death in the dangerous wilderness. They offer me the safety of their pack, but in return, I must give them something they crave.
They demand I share my heat with them, paying for their protection with the only thing I can offer…
My body.
No matter how much my hidden wolf longs to join their pack, I can’t trust them or their intentions. And they can’t trust me or my secrets. There are things about my past even I don’t know.
None of that matters, though. What these alphas want, they get. And right now, that’s me.

Readers are loving this exciting new rejected mates series!
P.S. To readers who seek out Omegaverse books... This is technically NOT an omegaverse series, despite what Goodreads says. Yes, there are heats and pack dynamics including alphas and so on. But if you're a huge omegaverse fan, this probably won't scratch the same itch.
However...
If you love wolf shifters who actually shift and tough, possessive alphas who will go to any lengths to protect the woman they care about, then this is the series for you!
Wanted to DNF but forced myself to finish by skimming 50% of the repetitive filler. Writing was uninspiring. Spice was good, but just not MY cup of tea. This book didn’t have to be this long and it didn’t have to end on a cliffhanger that should have come at 50% into the book. Plot is moving too slow, and the writing was mediocre at best.
I enjoyed this, it's my first experience with this author and is a rejected mate shifter reverse-harem romance set in a fantasy world. This is the first book in a series and focuses on Freya a wolf shifter of mysterious origins who because of her murky past and inability to access her wolf is afforded status at the bottom rung of her pack. Targeted and bullied her whole life she thinks things can't get any worse. But when she's paired with the alpha's son as his Fated mate amidst his engagement to another powerful pack he publicly rejects her and she is cast out into the Wildlands. A dangerous lawless place and an expected death sentence.
Rescued by Flint who belongs to a small nomad pack the howling echoes Freya makes the only choice she can they'll keep her temporarily safe, but in return, she has to agree to belong to all three of them, just until she's through her approaching heat. Flint Gage and Heath are all alphas that comprise Freya's new reality and every one of them makes her mouth water. But she's keeping a secret, they have no idea she can't shift into her wolf and as each day passes and Freya gets more attached she worries that once they realise she's broken they won't want her any more.
I enjoyed this a lot it's well-written and an easy read. It's told from multiple POVs, so Freya, then all of the men. It's raw and graphic and doesn't pull its punches and the sex is absolutely smoking and downright dirty. It's not an insta-love romance and some of the sexy scenes skirt the boundaries but it all still felt very consensual.
Each male felt distinct with their own personality. Gage is a hard face and is prepared to make the hard choices for the pack, he was deeply betrayed and as a result of this baggage doesn't trust easily, especially women. Heath is his enforcer he's no pushover and can be harsh but he also has a softer side and can be a charmer when he's a mind to. Then we have Flint the baby of the bunch he's a total poppet and the sweet one he decides instantly he wants Freya for his own and it's his refusal to leave her to her fate that sets this whole deal in motion, as for Freya herself I believe we have only just touched the surface of what she might be capable of.
There's danger and action and Freya's old pack still wants her back and not for anything good. When we left this I was still very much intrigued and I'm excited to see how things develop from here on out. I enjoyed this one a whole lot and recommend reading it. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Protected by outcasts.
I liked the storyline, but I also felt like parts of it were taking too long. The author is really drawing out certain aspects, but instead of building anticipation they feel like repetitive talking points. In a way, I felt like an editor could have given this a good deal of cutting to make things flow a little better. The ‘half-breed broken shifter’ aspect was really beaten to death. As readers we don’t really need to have it brought up so frequently, but it felt like every few pages that we were reminded of her inability to shift to the point where I started rolling my eyes every time she got worried about being ‘found out’. The impending heat limbo also felt way too drawn out as well. We know she’s going to go into heat because it’s looming on the horizon for about 75% of the book and still has no signs of actually happening. At this point, I just want it to happen so they stop talking about it ALL THE TIME.
The rest of the story is really fine and it’s very on brand for this genre. I didn’t feel a ton of chemistry between the characters, but I’m hoping that develops more in the next book. There are quite a few little steamy scenes throughout but I mainly skimmed through them. There is a little mystery around who/what the FMC is, although maybe we’ve gotten a few too many hints because I have a pretty solid idea of the direction things are going in (I may have read way too many rejected mate shifter books though so it could just be me). Overall, the story is entertaining and if you like this trope, you’ll probably enjoy it. It’s not necessarily going on my ‘reread’ list for rejected mate stories, but I’ll definitely keep reading to see how it develops
Protected by Outcasts is the first book in the Rejected Wolf Pack, Traci Lovelot's new shifter series. I could tell from the start that this was one of those books that was gonna make me nervous but I was gonna love and I was right, this book was great.
Freya is the lowest member of the Ironwood Pack. She already stands out because of her looks (tall, white blond, with lithe muscles) but she's also a shifter without a wolf and who is a whole lot more dominant than she "should be." For this Freya is constantly being abused in all matters of fashion but she fights back and when they turn on her she's determined to survive. Freya is strong and it kills me that she lacks self-confidence, that they have beaten her worthlessness into her. And even after all that she still cares about others and does the right thing. Freya deserves better than what she's gotten from almost all her shifter interactions.
The Howling Echo Pack, omg I wanted to shake most of them. Gage and Heath frustrated me so much, and for most of the book too. Both have past trauma and are projecting that crap onto Freya, acting like the biggest a-holes. However, they aren't completely bad, they don't do anything to physically hurt Freya, but they do hurt her emotionally. I really don't think they mean to, the pair are emotionally damaged, and that causes them to lash out in different ways. Thank gods for Flint who was the sweetest man person I ever met. The man is lethal but has honor and heart. I love how he cares for Freya and seems to be the only one of the guys with any sense at all.
Most of the plot was Freya and the guys trying to figure their crap out. Both of them trying to do the same thing, to figure out their feelings and try to trust but it was hard and there was a lot of confusion because of that stupid deal Gage made with Freya. I hated that part, I now understood why Gage made it (I sure as heck understand why Freya took it) but still, it's not to my liking. The deal just caused a lot of confusion and emotional turmoil. Then there are the aspects of this world as a whole, the politics, the packs, the territories.
The Moonblessed Pack seems, like a great pack to be in. I was very interested in how they kept up with their Native American traditions, their pack is rich in culture and the people friendly. The alliance between Moonblessed and the Howling Echo proves that the guys of Echo aren't that bad. What I found really interesting, Moonblessed mentioned a lot about their beliefs, somehow it's mixed in with some Norse mythology, and I feel that it's gonna be important somehow.
This is my first shifter book by Traci and I'm loving it. The angst, drama, and secrets are enough to spin my head. There was plenty of action, both the steamy kind and the kill all our enemies kind, I was always waiting for something to happen next. Traci did end Protected by Outcasts with a cliffhanger but it wasn't that bad, it could have been worse. I was looking forward to the next book before I even finished the first. I can't wait to see how the ending is resolved.
Freya is rejected by her fated mate to find herself being saved by Flint, Heath and Gage. Freya has not had an easy life but does not give up and is a strong-willed and likeable character. The three men are all very different, from the stoic Gage, to the loyal Heath and finally to the caring Flint. This story is not your standard, run of the mill RH. There is depth to the story, and the characters have genuine concerns, quandaries and feelings. This is the first book I have read by Traci and I really enjoyed it. I thought the writing was free flowing and had a good rhythm which evoked, lush scenery and in some cases very intense and sexy scenes! One thing I liked, is the unexpected twist at the end. It has set the second story to head in a very different and intriguing direction. This is a great first story and I cannot wait for the second instalment. 5 stars!
This was my first book by Traci, and she didn't disappoint. I loved it!! Full of secrets, action, suspense, steam and much more!
I loved Freya. She has a tough life, but she still manages to keep fighting and is also kind. I have mixed feelings on some of the guys, but I feel like there is still more to learn about them. Flint, was probably my favorite.
I think this was a great start to a new series. I was interested throughout and on the edge of my seat at times! I can't wait to see what happens next in book 2!!
Yesssss!!! This book has kept me on my toes! I absolutely love the RH twist of the rejected mate storyline. The writing is so smooth, I feel like I'm a part of the book. The characters mesh super well together and I love the chemistry. I'm a sucker for suspense, drama and action - and this book has it...and of course, spice! Girl. The spice in the book is 🔥🥵
Usually I dislike cliffhangers, but this one is SO good! I can't wait to read the next book!
I love this new shifter series from Traci Lovelot! Great world building! The characters are well developed especially the main ones, they are not one dimensional. Some of their choices really make me want to scream and not always in a good way. Believable dialogue. Panty melting sex scenes. I love the mystery surrounding Freya. It really makes me want to read more to find out why she can't shift. It's one of the main reasons why I love reading Traci Lovelot books because it's not all about the amazing sex. There's a great mystery to try to figure out. Traci Lovelot is one of my favorite authors. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Was offered an ARC by a new to me author and decided to take a chance, I'm so pleased I did! Loved Freya's character and how it developed and grew throughout the book. Love books with strong FMC who aren't afraid to stand up for what they want. The three MMCs Gage, Heath and Flint were so well thought out. Loved that they each had their strengths and issues and that they complimented each other so well to make the perfect pack for Freya. Great storyline, I love a book that makes you like you could have enjoyed it without the spice, but with the spice it was so much better!
I absolutely love Freya she is amazing. Gage, Heath, and Flint all offer something unique. This rejected mates story is unlike any other I’ve read before in the best way possible. I am hoping we meet Rowan in the next book because he definitely intrigues me from the little Intel I have on him. Shante is another amazing women who befriends our lovely Freya and helps her out. I am definitely looking forward to book two and I’m a little sad I have to wait for it but I know it’ll be worth it.
The FMC got pretty annoying toward the last quarter of the book. I was definitely power reading. I may or may not read book 2 when it comes out. It’ll be one that I won’t actively go searching for it but if I come across is maybe.
Gage is a ridiculous, one-dimensional character. Hates-all-women-because-of-one-nasty-lady is a terrible and lazy personality for an author to write. The least the author could do is make Freya have a reasonable reaction to him -- at least dislike him at first! Bleh.
Protected by Outcasts is a sizzling and suspenseful paranormal romance that explores the complexities of desire, trust, and the consequences of a mate’s rejection. The story revolves around Freya, a young woman cast out from her pack and her journey towards feeling worthy and accepted.
The plot centers on Freya's encounter with three handsome alphas who agree to provide protection during her 'heat' in exchange for her ‘companionship’. What ensues is a steamy and tension-filled narrative, where the chemistry between Freya and her three protectors crackles with undeniable passion. The author masterfully weaves the sensuous aspects of the story into the broader context of character development and emotional turmoil, creating a compelling narrative that keeps readers eagerly turning the pages.
One of the book's strengths lies in its exploration of the characters' internal struggles. Freya, while enjoying her newfound sensuality, grapples with a hidden secret that adds layers of intrigue to the storyline. The three alphas, each grappling with their own desires and doubts, find themselves torn between trust and suspicion. This internal conflict adds depth to the characters and invites readers to connect with their emotions and vulnerabilities.
Protected by Outcasts is a spellbinding read for those who enjoy steamy PNR romance novels with elements of intrigue and suspense. The interplay of passion, secrecy, and self-discovery within a skillfully crafted narrative makes this book a must-read for fans of the genre.
It drags on and on and finally ends up with a cliffy? Not fair. Ok, that's the only criticism I'm giving. This book is actually well written, albeit too well. I wanted to see Freya shift and be a bad as$ but not to be.
I really liked this. And you know what? I kept thinking hybrid? Uh? But you never met your parent so you could be anything. Also, sweet jesus I knew someone would tattle. I knew she wouldn't be the one telling them.
The person who tattle that she was there is totally heaths lover.

This is my first book by Lovelot and I'm really sad this is the beginning of the series as I want to binge all the books.
I love the character dynamics and how the relationships grow through the book. The MFC doesn't match her expected dynamic and has learned to survive in a hostile world. She challenges her alphas and prompts them to move out of the stagnant patterns they've been holding. There is adventure, drama, and lots of tension.
There is a dub consent setup but it's not dark. Spice level is on point. It does end on a major cliffhanger with everything up on the air.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Amazing story!! New take on how packs work, and a different way to approach fated mates. Too many of these have all the same themes, and it is great to find a fresh look and different method to how the shifter world works. Good blend of heat and tension, plenty of spice without jumping straight into completed relationships. I can't wait for the next book to see where things go next!
What a journey this first book is. Freya a rejected wolf and banned from the pack to become a lone wolf or rogue finds herself going’s into heat wage three alphas - Gage, Heath and Flint Who after her old pack tries to kidnap her so they can publicly execute her, they all ( old pack ) pay the ultimate price while Freya finds herself twitterpated 😂- oh the spice🌶️🌶️🌶️. From good, bad , then ugly cry and still to end with a cliffhanger!
I was very Intrigued by the Excerpt, and when I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Even wakeing up early to get more of this delicious book, and the steam coming off these alphas got it fogging up my screen.
Wow!!!! I loved this story. Freya and her men are great together. This is book one, and its a medium burn, wolf shifter. Our heroes must protect Freya against those that want her dead. Traci posted that there are possible triggers and gives you a link to let you know what those are within the story. I can not wait to read book 2.

Protected by Outcasts is the first book of Traci's that i have read and I am hooked. Freya is amazing. She is fierce and spunky and a spitfire. But she has found her match is these 3 wold shifters. Each man is different and unique in their own way and they each bring out a side to Freya. This book brings you on a wild ride where you will fall in love with all the characters. Even though you might want to slap a few here or there. Very excited to see where this world takes us
This book was one big turn after another. Nonstop thrill and unending excitement. I never knew exactly which turn it was going to take, and that in itself was so intriguing. The main character Freya shows up instantly with trouble only to run into a little hope. But the crazy only begins there. We’ve got forced proximity, reverse harem, shifters, and so many other wonderful things happening in this one book! I cannot wait to dive head first into the next book!! Spicy, intriguing, and exhilarating!
Supposedly a half breed who has never shifted, Freya is one of the lowest in the pack. She is constantly being bullied and beaten. She is then exiled from the pack, into the badlands.
If the guys were such alpha holes this could've been a five star read. Half of the things Gage did didn't sit right with me. They kept giving whiplash specially Heath. Flint was the only one who had clear intentions from the beginning.
I initially hoped I'd be able to read this through to the end because I really enjoyed the developing connection between the heroine and Flint (who were both great characters) but the dubious nature of the forced-sex agreement left a bad taste in my mouth every time it was mentioned.
I loved the MFC and I loved Flint but the other two men were gross. Gage was a two-dimensional idiot and a bully, who used his past hurt as a reason to hurt others, while Heath was selfish and callous. He only did things that served his interest, and his only true emotion was his unrequited love for Gage.
Ultimately I decided I didn't want to read a story where the male love interests would only save a woman from death if they could use her body sexually (and then pretend like she had a choice).
